Actually, there has been a naming problem.
insteed of android-4.1.1_r1 it is: jb-release
* [new branch] jb-dev -> aosp/jb-dev
* [new branch] jb-release -> aosp/jb-release
3ad9072..9ee8a31 master -> aosp/master

Lovely! Thanks for the tip. Another long night ahead.
Cant' wait to start seeing JB ROMS popping up!
Also, what does this mean for Sense? Must we wait for an official Sense JB ROM to surface?

Wouldn't we need to wait for HTC for that? I can imagine us porting Sense 4.0 to other devices, but to port Sense across to a different Android version?
this is cool but damn i just got ics from tmobile not 2 long ago.
Hopr our great devs will bake us a awesome JellyBean

I think i found it,
java -jar smali.jar out
and then i renamed out.dex to calsses.dex and put it in framework.jar
in framework.jar is a "preloaded-classes" file.
I have to delete "preloaded-classes" file ??
Correct my if Im wrong but I think you need to place the classes.dex in framework-res.apk

git clone the manifest? or do i need to push all the roms source to git?. i know these are noob questions but i can not find any info except how to build someone else's source. i just want to practice with the old cmbq source i have locally on my pc.
very briefly can you explain the process. ie
1. init repo in a dir on my pc.
2. repo sync. now i have the full source files in my rom dir.
make a repo on git?
3. add?
4. commit? all files or just what i edit?
when i init repo for a roms source where do all the files come from. is it---
a. the different repos in the manifest.?
b. all from one repo that has all the files already?
i am sort of slowly getting it. but without a knowledge of how it all works i am lost and confused.
sorry for the long questions but i've spent weeks reading & trying.
cheers

I already compiled it but couldn't flash it right. I tried to use your Moto G peregrine zip to flash it ( I took out reference to the peregrine but a no go.) I am going to try to abootimg it into a newly built newboot.img to test it out more and then I will let you know more. Thanks.
Made the boot.img but it didn't boot up.
That's weird, I got this directly from LG. Did you flash the boot.img in twrp or fastboot?

The problem I'm having is I don't know how to flash a zImage-dtb to a device. So I tried the abootimg and yes I tried it through TWRP. I can't get a dt.img to compile. I am trying to build TWRP from source so I am going through Google to try to find a way to get it flashed through a flashable zip. I am using the lv3_mpcs_us_ defconfig to see if that was the issue as I used the perf defconfig.
You could just try the command in cmd:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
