[Q] Exchange Mail on Android stopped working over Mobile Data Connection - General Questions and Answers

Hi.
Trying to understand why my Exchange Mail which is set up on mt HTC Desire HD has stopped working over my mobile data connection but still works over WIFI.
Phone Info:
Android Version: 2.3.5
HTC Sense Version: 3.0
Software Number: 3.13.61.5
The exchange settings were entered by the office IT dept. They are correct and haven't changed.
It was working before, downloading my Exchange emails just fine.
I haven't changed any settings or upgraded the phone that I can remember.
My mobile data connection still works for all other data needs on my phone.
The Exchange email just stopped working over a mobile connection but still works over WIFI .... what could be the issue?
Any help is most appreciated.
Thanx.
Mex.

The whole DNS debacle has goofed up some domain name stuff as of today. IT may need to reroute their exchange data through a different server.
I'm sure all this stuff will wash out sometime today...

Thanx but not sure it's related to that as I can still access my exchange mail on a computer (even on the phone via the web browser - online outlook) also it happened a couple of weeks ago just now looking for some answers as neither IT nor my service provider have any answers.
Tnx.

Also I've deleted the account several times and set it up again ... it still doesn't work over mobile but works over WIFI.
tnx

Maybe its being blocked somewhere in the network chain from the server through your phones ISP. Are the apns correct?

Thanx for the response .... The APN for my ISP is correct, also all other data using apps on my phone are working. Not sure if its possible that there's a specific APN for accessing Exchange???
Thanx again.
Mex.

What network are you using? Normally the wap.cingular apn would handle exchange mail.
Do you have the "phone" apn set up in access point names? If there's one in there for LTE, check to make sure it says "phone" and not "pta" in the second line.

Hi.
I'm in Ghana and I'm on the Airtel network. Not sure about your question, but however the Exchange email has been working fine for months with my current settings, which is why I don't understand why it stopped working all of a sudden. My ISP have said that the service hasn't changed in anyway and the IT department have said the same thing about the server settings.
Totally confused.
Mex.

No ideas???

Google it and see what comes up. I bet it has to do with the recent DNS issue where the FBI had to be involved.
Outside of that, I got nothing...

Thanx for the effort anyhow... I believe it's about to be sorted lolol.
I had to talk to someone really technical (way in the background) from my ISP to discover that its likely a PORT issue.
He understood it immediately when I described it.
Waiting for feedback on how it will be fixed.
Thanx again.

Noo,why does need this? If my provider does not suport my dwvice there is asolution?

I have been having problems with my mms since I first received my Nexus. MMS take 3 days to send and downloading mms gets stuck at downloading and never opens. I did some research and from what I understand it has something to do with your APN settings, try searching for the correct APN settings for your area and provider. APN settings can be found in ---> SETTINGS>WIRELESS&NETWORKS>MOBILE NETWORKS>
ACCESS POINT NAMES
** I have yet to fix my MMS issues, if you find something I would love to know

Yea, I don't know if re-flashing the ROM would be of any use. Some people argue that MMS only work if you have a data plan with your provider, but I've read otherwise as well. I've also heard of Nexus users getting more up-to-date sim cards and that fixed their issues, maybe worth a try? You might want to give your provider a call and ask them for the correct APN settings or at least explain your problem to them and see if they offer any assistance.

Noob mobile hotspots issue

Hello. I am really new to all this and I have a problem that I can't seem to find similar posts explaining or having the same issue. I have the supercm7 v1 rom on my infuse4g and the mobile hotspots won't work. A user can connect to it and we even saw that he could get an IP address and DNS was working. But no data, cannot load any webpages or anything. I looked at the apn settings and played around with them with different suggestions with no luck. Any ideas? Thank you

Freeze tether app in titbu. Done.

Hi!
I'm also using a different carrier and the only solution I found was editing the database by hand..
I created a post with the proceeding few days ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782492
Just rebember to take care on what you change in databases so you don't soft brick your device!
This change that is described in the post I tested on my device and worked fine..
Good luck!
Cheers,
Luis

Had the same problem except my data would cut out all the time! Tried the dun mod but whenever id change anything it would deactivate the "carrier enable" and the apn would no longer work from then on. I recreated a new apn but left proxy out.. solved my data problems.

[Q] Cannot access hotmail via email apps via T-Mobile network

As the title says, I cannot access my hotmail email account via any email apps (Stock, Aqua, K9, MailDroid) while connected to the T-Mobile network. Internet access works just fine.
Now, if I connect to a WiFi network using the same settings, not changing anything, it will work just fine.
I contacted T-Mobile, and they said I need to contact Google about this problem, as it's not their fault that no apps can connect via their network.
So, XDA members, what do I do?
Switch providers! Sure that would mean moving to Canada if you wanted to use another provider that supports the Sidekick, but would that really be so bad?
In all seriousness, I have utterly no idea.
It's a Microsoft conspiracy. They want you to switch to Windows Phone. Just kidding.
Sorry. No clue on that one. It seems like the apps are configured to only work on wifi.

No idea
If it was all apps, I would suggest talking to T-mobile about the status of your ESN, but you indicated you had net access otherwise.
Sent from my SGH-T839 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, I have net access otherwise just fine. Even my gmail works fine over T-Mobile. But trying to access my hotmail via it, will tell me "Cannot connect to server", or a variation on that error depending on what email app it is.
Wifi works just fine... I don't know what to do. T-Mobile is still adamant that their network is fine, and I need to "Call the Google" , as a rep stated. XD

I'm pretty sure it's just the web interface changing, and phasing out the old web interface. the email addresses remain the same.
That's exactly what it is, just saying I have never had an issue with gmail on an android
But maybe. This may help

Need help with Google Voice

Anyone have a clue why when someone sends me or my wife a text via GV, we get texts on both phones ? I looked everywhere and I cant figure out why this is happening. We exchanged phones recently and I completely removed all accounts from both phones and uninstalled GV....in fact Nexus 5 was wiped as well.
edit: we exchanged phones NOT sim cards
may be it has something to do with the hangouts application. Just a wild guess though

what do you mean desktop mode ? If you mean check Google Voice settings then I already did and no one touched them to begin with. They all look normal, my account ONLY has my number and her account ONLY has her number. It worked fine this past Saturday, then we haven't used GV, and after we switched phones I noticed this issue.

Yes he means Google Voice settings on the web (not in your phone):
https://www.google.com/voice/b/0#phones
When you switched phones, you should have changed your mobile phone registration at that site for each of your accounts.

We switched the hardware, sim cards stayed the same. So its not like I am using her number with my Google Voice account....I am using my sim card with my phone number with my google voice account
PS. calls work fine. Its the texts that go to both phones. If i send a text to her, she gets it and i get notification too, if someone else texts me, she also gets the text.
Check the devices under accounts and see if there's multiple accounts on one phone. You should be able to figure it out on a desktop in Google voice in settings and user accounts. Maybe its linked on a computer with multiple account

Search if there is any application which record the phone activity (via changes) so that you can get the culprit.

Check if app has sms integerated in default sms app. Than check if the default messaging app is not GV. If not any problem here than its the account for sure. Both your and your wife's phone number got attached to whether your account or hers. Check her GV account settings too. Check which device has priority too.
