[Q] Rooted Samsung G-Tab 2 10.1 won't output HDMI sound - General Questions and Answers

I recently purchased a brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 P5113 with an HDMI adapter and decided to root it and install a stock rom so I followed this guide. I followed the steps and installed the InfectedROM which seemed to be working fine aside from the fact that the bloatware wasn't being removed but I decided it wasn't that big of a deal. Before I did all of this, I used the tablet to watch a video on my TV which is one of the main reasons I bought it and it worked fine. However, after flashing the new rom, only the video is outputted through HDMI and the sound comes out of the tablet and not the TV. I've looked for hidden settings or something similar but found nothing. I then installed CleanROM and the same thing happened with it too. If anyone knows what's wrong, please let me know. I'm also willing to restore it to the way it was in the box if someone gave me the original rom.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7" requesting repair?

I bought this Galaxy Tab 7" WIFI model GT-P1010. I tried to update the original software, Android 2.2 Froyo, using Odin v1.7 and something went wrong and now I can't even make it turn it on. I charged for 8 hours and I can't make it go into download mode. I saw some videos on youtube and it seems I "bricked" the tab.
I am looking for someone that can fix it. I live in San Francisco, CA. Can anyone help me?

Samsung Galaxy S3 MHL Adapter and CM10 ROMs

Hi,
I recently purchased the Samsung EPL-3FHU MHL adapter for my SGS3. I can't get it to work at all. I know that older AOSP ROMs didn't support MHL (like CM 7), but surely they do by now? I have the right adapter, the 11 pin one. Hell I even have an old one with a 5-to-11 pin adapter.
Is it because of the ROM, kernel, or because I don't have a charger connected to it?
Side question to whomever knows the answer to OP's question: does a standard MHL adapter work with CM10 or does the S3 hardware require the Samsung adapter?

A standard one does work if you have a 5-pin-to-11-pin converter I think, but I got that from Samsung.

As far as I'm aware, CM10 does not support MHL, only Samsung based ROMs work.
you def need the charger connected... unless your plugging it into a mhl suppported hdmi port on a tv which basically means you own one of 5 tv's that support it.
I am using ParanoidAndroid and the MHL connectivity works to an extent. What i mean is u can see the phone, browse, but video playback is glitchy. The video flickers and there is lag. Same is the problem with high graphic games. This has been bothering me for a while now. I wanted to use S3 as a game console with PS3 and SixAxis with GameKlip.
Works for me
This works for me just fine. I have the official mhl connector with the extension bit on the end. I am running CM10. The power thing got me at first.. Make sure you have it plugged in
Shawn: Are you on S3? What version of CM10 and what kernel?

What happened?
Anyone ever get an answer to this? Or just, what's the best ROM to maintain MHL capability?

I am running Liquidsmooth based on CM10.0 on Skyrocket and my phone DOES NOT run MHL. I bought a new TV to enjoy the feature which apparently is not there.
I Had Simliar Problem
I recently bought a generic mhl adapter off amazon for my Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket, sadly it did not work.
Phone:
Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket
CM 10 (JB4.1.2)
Kernel that came with it
After browsing XDA I found a post that helped...

Basically you need to add "ro.hdmi.enable=true" to your build prop. I used a build prop editor off the play store to do this.
It worked after this. Hope this works for you too. Good Luck.

NEW Insignia 10.1 tablet 4.4 Kitkat

I see this is a newer insignia tablet: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/insigni...32&skuId=7060010&st=tablets-122806&cp=1&lp=12
Anyone try one yet? I'm looking for reviews but none so far, except for bestbuy reviews. Thanks.
Actually I have tried this tablet but unfortunately the one that I purchased had a problem with the Wi-Fi and I had to return it. They did not have anymore of the NS-15TA10 in stock so I actually ended up exchanging for the 7" variant the NS15-TA07 and it works perfectly! The only thing is that it does not have GPS like the 10.1" model.

Any Android Auto owners?

I'm looking to see if the new Android Auto technology is compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 and if anyone here has had any success stories to share. I've read a thread in the past where users were having problems with the MirrorLink technology the Note 4 has built in. I don't want to spend $1k on a head unit that won't be compatible with my phone. My Note 4 is the Retail Verizon Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910V).
When responding, PLEASE state what carrier you're on. This information is essential, as both Verizon and AT&T have locked bootloaders and are currently not permanently rootable, thus some connection settings may not be currently attainable.
I have Sprint Note 4 rooted and running the awesome Hybrid X Series odexed version
I have mirroring working on a newly installed Panasonic AVH-4100NEX head unit. I got the one without Nav because the navigation systems date the hardware and apps for nav have come a long way and pretty much replace built in nav.
Big help is to be found in the http://avic411.com/ forums. Mine can run video while under way but i will be running nav and YaV1 (yet another Valentine 1 app) rather than fooling with streaming video or DVDs.
Cheers

Thank you for your reply. When you first connected mirroring, were there any signs that the process was asking for root access? I would like to know if root IS required or not.
I only had my truck for an hour taking it from the stereo shop to the body shop. I tested with the AR Unchained Reloaded app, which requires root. When I get the truck back I can test it with my wife's non-root S4 if it has mirror capability. But I think it does not have mirroring. I would search on the avic411 forum. I'll take a look there too.
I have this problem
I had the Chevy Mylink in my 2016 Chevy Colorado Z71 updated through my dealership for the Andriod Auto software update and I'm working with a Samsung Note 4 (AT&T) with 5.1.1 and cannot get sound when playing music. I read the horror stories online about the troubleshooting and was hoping someone had a fix, any help or ideas? thanks
