CM9 Bootloop - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi so I'm running a rooted UCLD2 ics build and I tried to flash the latest CM9 nightly and got stuck in boot loop. This is the second time as I tried time un rooted and on a different nightly before. Is anyone else have the same issue or have a fix? Thanks.

Which nightly and are wiping everything properly?
How long are you letting your phone sit to determine boot loop? it usually takes mine about 5 mins to get past boot. On the first boot after install.
And you may try a different ics base.

I'm waiting a good 20 minutes so it's boot loop for sure. I wipe everything. I'll try reading the guide. Thanks

G2x stuck in bootloop after flashing cm nightly #90

Don't know if I posted this in the right place and I apologized if I didn't. I flashed cm nightly # 90 on to my phone and then cleared cache and wipe phone and then rebooted it and now it gets stuck at the cm bootscreen. It just keeps doing the boot animation and then going black and the going into the boot animation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should have cleared before flashing. Go again in recovery, whipe, and then flash again. You should be OK
Problem is I cant get into recovery

Use the NVflash one-click recovery tool to reflash your recovery (did you only install a Rom Manager recovery?).
Then format /system, and wipe cache and dalvik. Then flash #90 again.
Not formatting /system between flashes is I believe responsible for most of the individual issues people have like yours. it only takes another minute, and does not affect your date. You do have to reflash gapps when you clear the system partition however.
Yes I only flash recovery from rom manager but I tried using nv flash is the same thing nvflash 1 click?

Found the one click nvflasher recovery tool. Downloading now!

Any kernels work with stock ROM?

Im rooted and have flashed 4 ROMS and they all freeze at boot.
You using the proper radio? Stock as in 2.3.5? What roms you try to flash?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Im a retard, I meant that i flashed 4 different kernels. I just had to restore my stock backup so now i am back on 2.3.5 rooted. I just want to try a different kernel and it seems like they all just keep getting stuck at the boot screen. They actually freeze, no animation or anything. I let them sit for 15 minutes each time.
You have to use the right radio because a gb radio doesnt work with an ics rom. And the kernel is the same way

La3 was 2.3.6 Rom so your baseband should be fine for faux kernel

Wipe cache and dalvik cache
Flash the kj2 radio
Wait 30 seconds and flash it again
Then try flashing faux kernel and wait 30 seconds before rebooting system.

Phone reboots/hangs on splash screen

I really would appreciate some input on this.. I was on NexusMod ICS for about two days before I woke up one morning to find that my phone had rebooted and was stuck at the splash screen. I tried pulling the battery and powering it on but got the same result, so I tried to get into CWM and couldn't. It would boot to recovery but not long enough to actually do anything, so I ODIN'd stock rom and CWM then flashed AOKP build 38 instead of NexusMod. Everything was fine for a few days but this morning I woke up to my phone stuck on the splash screen again, only this time when I pulled the battery and powered it on, it booted up fine, but my wallpaper had changed (weird).. So I really don't have a clue why this would happen, but I'd appreciate some help, and TIA!

Yes, that's a good idea, but wouldn't you think it would be an app that's causing it since it happened on two very different roms? Or am I way off in my thinking?

could be app, in the rom dev page ur using does any1 else have probs like u do, u can try the one in my sig to c if it the same thing happens, when u do flash any rom dont install any apps for awhile to c if probs arise, and do follow dev's instructions on flashing to the "t"
Good call. Thank you much.

Had this issue with some roms when I was using cwm. Once I updated to cwm touch didn't have an issue.

4.2 ROMs

Twice I've flashed 4.2 ROMs and both times they ran good but overnight my phone froze. I had to pull the battery and restore a 4.1 ROM. Anyone else have trouble?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
I've never had this issue and I have flashed several different 4.2.1 ROMs. Flashing a kernel along with the ROM by chance? Under clocking or undervolting at all?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
No changes. Flashed Liquidsmooth and Black bean.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Been running CM10.1 as a daily driver for about 2 weeks now and haven't had any terrible issues.
I flash using TWRP
Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik
Wipe System
Flash ROM
Flash Gapps
Reboot
Set Up and Go

Question on this...
Do I need to go to a ASOP based 4.1.1 before going to 4.2?

There's no need to flash any prior OS just before you switch to another rom.

[Q] i727 Boot Loop.

Hello. Basically I tried installing mohan_kr's ATT-SGH-I727-UCMC1-STOCK-odexed-cwm.zip onto my Skyrocket i727 and it gets as far as half-way into the Rethink Possible screen, freezes, then reboots. Then continues to do that until it just stops and shuts the phone down entirely. Before installing I formatted /system, wiped data/factory reset and wiped the cache partition but it only results in a boot loop. This was all done with ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I tried searching but the only thing related turned out to be a stuck power button, which this isn't.
If I remember right, the recovery you're using is old as dirt. Am I right?

Ya pretty much haha. My friend, who's had a lot more experience with androids than I have, installed it along with gingerbread so we could just update straight from there with CWM to jelly bean 4.1.2 but now every rom I try gets stuck in a boot loop. Is there a way to upgrade CWM without an active OS?

Grab an updated recovery from here, load it onto your memory card, enter recovery, Install Zip from External SD, flash.
Just download the latest recovery and install using Odin, after that you can try flashing the ROM.. Mohan's ROM will work like a charm...
Ended up using the flashable version of TWRP 2.5.0.0 and installed it with CWM. Was up and running in no time thanks for the replies!
