[Q] Q.Unique Problems with CM9 - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

I am using remICS-UX v1.4 ported for sl by rockysenu
problems faced after 2-3 days of using phone are
- Lag like hell while typing anything.
- Auto switch off sometimes.
- facelock not woirking(but thats not imp)
it would be appreciated if someone could help me here a bit. have been searchin threads regarding this lag from past one week...

Change your kernel, In development thread search arindam kernel with power efficiency. Go to recovery mode install zip it. Then wipe cahce.

1. Regarding keyboard lags, out seems to be a problem with the rom itself.
Though the rom is quite lag free, the swype seems to lag. Try porting some other swype from s2 our the original stock keyboard of sl, seemed to work better.
The problem its not with the swype supplied with rom as I tried porting the swype from remics to pandora rom, aroma miui and stock xxkpu. It worked like a charm. Its simply seems to some compatibility issues with the particular version.
Another solution I figured out for working with the same version of swype is, just give a small pause while starting each word you are going to type. It lags while detecting the first alphabet, so give a pause for each first alphabet.
2. Try switching to vurrut kernel or the arindam kernel as told above.
3. I'm not much a fan of face unlock, so don't try to work out
Press thanks if helped

Try RemICS 1.5, or solves this issue.

Swype = Buggy on 2.2

I have swype and I am finding that after installing it on my rooted odexed 2.2 rom it is buggy. Words aren't typing well and there seems to be a fair amount of ghost touch typing.
Is anyone experiencing problems? Have you fixed them?
EDIT: After uninstalling and reinstalling the program again, it seems to have fixed a lot of the issues. i am using version 1.56.30.7625.
They need to post a new version of this
I have swype not respond to word-swypes all the time.. changing input type to something else/switching back fixes it.. (this didn't happen in 2.1..)
-mark
Works perfectly on CM6 (AOSP FroYo). Worked perfectly on DC 3.2.3 as well. Never had any issues with the latest Swype.
I guess I should have included that I'm using the Stock Official 2.2 Odexed ROM...It worked perfectly using Whitslack's 1.47 before I flashed the upgrade this morning. Guess waiting patiently for the next version is the best course of action...
Or perhaps if CM gets 4G working...I could switch to that :-D

[ROM] Frostmod 2.0

Welcome Frostmod version 2.0. A lot of work has gone into this update that I hope you will enjoy. I've spent much time on making this rom highly customizable, in other words, almost nothing is unchangeable. In my frostmod tool box app, you can now change the font of the clock, switch between adw launcher, and gingerbread aosp launcher, and a assortment of boot animations. The old permanent ics lock screen is gone. The one in version 1.6 that required a reboot is to clunky. Now you can simply go into the cyanogenmod menu, and easily apply frostmod lockscreen. there is also no native theming. All my theme work is located in a single theme manager app. A lot of things have been added to my theme, just look at the settings menu. Also in the about phone menu, you will now see a button that says frostmod version. Click on it for a full changelog, help, thanks and more. The cyanogenmod base has also been updated to cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1.I hope you like this update. If you enjoy the rom, and the time I spent on it, make sure to give me a thanks
Bellow you will find a download link, and many screen shots. All screen shots have my theming applied, as well as ics clock font. The rom can easily be changed to have the "clean" look". If you have any comments, bug reports, or recomendations, please post them bellow

I am extremely sorry, I had one that booted, but I just restored one of my stock froyo backups, and then flashed to this, and it does not work I am going to take down the download link for now, but I will have one up that works in around 30 minutes
Can't wait for the new file so I can test this out. Thanks man!
I believe I have fixed it, and it should boot now. Remember that this is pretty much stock cyanogenmod, but I am working on a great theme
So far very smooth rom, seems stable. Thank you for your work.

Runs amazingly smooth. Went from CM7 to this, and everything is just so much snappier. Thanks for making a custom-built OG droid experience!
Running it now, seems to be nice, and love the 1.2 ghz over clock.. Great Job!
Running quite smooth so far, using the first link not the second, would love to try the second but I dislike pre skinned roms

Hello, this is a notification on my version 2 rom's progress. I have included a lot of new things, and have gone deeper into the source code. My next rom will have a better theme, but I am attempting to get most of theme into a theme Chooser app so you can decide if you want my themeing or not. There is also plenty of XML editing. I think you will get a few laughs out of my next version
I just have to work out a problem with the desk clock app

Thats very good news! (besides the whole desk clock problem) I like how your rom is shaping up, it's nice and stable, though for some reason it's really laggy on my phone, but I like your theme from your past version, especially the pull down menu
Lovin the rom but why is the launcher so blurry in the app drawer
How is this rom coming along?

hey there ive got a rooted galaxy s2, ive tried few of the ics roms but a strange problem occurs i.e. my cell switches off if i leave it unused for a while. and still unable to find a good rom.what do u suggest
I too have a Samsung Galaxy S2. I am using Phone-Bricker 2.5 It has a great app called Kitchen that helps you out with adding things onto the ROM and customizing it further.

How did you root your sgs2?
I'm on VK rom... I really flashed a lot of roms and this is the one I stick with, it still updates so thats good...
I maybe suggest to start all over. backup everything you need to backup and wipe your whole system. then just flash the vk rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559009
and if the battery issue is still there... charge your phone 100%, enter recovery mode and wipe your battery stats.
hope I helped a bit
The phone-bricker rom also looks good!! gonna flash and test it right away!! I'll let you know what I think of it...
I love the kitchen!!! Checkrom also has it! still waiting for that ICS rom to come.
grts!!!
unfortunatetly, the phone-bricker rom does not respond well in my sgs2... my BACK button and my homebutton aren't working... flashed it twice after full wipe. you know why this could happen??

so, the phone-bricker rom really bricked my phone. I tested it and as I said, my backbutton and homebutton didn't work anymore... and when people call me they only hear some loud noise, as if I was somewhere with a lot of wind, but not my voice at al (tested it by calling myself ) so I tried to start over and as I flashed the original ICS back, the call problem was gone. flashed the phone-bricker again and had the same problems. it's a real phone-bricker!! maybe other phones react differently...
still prefere the VK rom!! making my way back to it now...
grts
I also used many but so far, ICS Resurrection Remix and Liting' Rom are the best and stable.
Yeah now running the new remis and it is just what I want! A light smooth rom! But I don't get the tablet mode as you also can find in D4 rom... Is it a setting that I must change? I wanna try the sgs2 tablet!

What I wish for
Hi,
I seek a ROM that is FAST (with OC), STABLE, and customisable. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Hello. I tried Ollo SII and I think that this rom has the best battery life. Try it if you want...

Or do you have any other rom with good battery life?

As he mentioned he needs video recording, so any CM based ROMs are out of question.
u can use poseidon rom since it more stable than CM all issues encountered by the users and testers has been solved like wifi, gps, battery performance..etc
plz hit the thanks button if i helped you
yep, i agree buddy.
of all roms ive tried (not including cm's) poseidon's rom over xxkpq was smoothest and best, with bugs solved.. along with this installation was kernel: uc v9 1009 + custom theme (you may choose up to your own choice) + some mods/scripts. the above enumerated was the best ive used for so long before moving to miui v4 2.7.6 which is way too smooth (however, unapplicable to u since video recording deems to work in low res).
cheers.
I loved titanium rom the most!! finest rom ^_^ .. even supports Hindi and other languages .. and i found it to be best when it comes battery ..

Would you say miui and poseidon are better than remics?? I'm thinking of flashing miui. I'm looking mostly for smoothnes in scroll and opening apps.
For you I think the best options are titanium or stock. I love stock roms! But they are not smooth enough for me, if that's not a problem for you, you should use the stock rom because of the lack of bugs.

i think ill go for titanium again, just will ask anyone if that rom works with bam kernel, smooth fast best battery life. I love stock rom to but to much lags and not so smooth, titanium has just one little bug; when someone calls you u cant see who is calling for about 1 second thats enough for grabbing the phone from your pocket lol, u all got thanks for answers, thanks.
if u want to be in stock ROM better to try the new value pack which is DDLF2 it has been reviewed by others and they can say that it is battery efficient, smooth and stable...and if u found lags u can use bam kernel v.14 beta that fixes bugs.. dont forget the thanks button..hehe
u can read some reviews about the said fw here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741370
Try TheFrankenstein's Mod for DDLF2. Its smooth as hell . Literally as fast as CM7 . U could give it a try .

@ Angenit
im not saying that poseidon is better than remics buddy. i am saying that poseidon could be of good choice too. pls read op buddy, he asks for a bug free rom (specially with video recording) so i did not mention about remics, etc so as not to mislead him.
cheers,
edit:
sorry buddy, misunderstood ur post hehe..
poseidon paired with uc kernel v9 1009 was the longest streak i used (in terms of gingerbread base). apps smooth and snappy during opening. titanium had good reviews too buddy.
if u were referring of miui gingerbread, its not so stable and battery life is short. ryt now however, i am on miui v4 (ics based), which is far the snappiest ive tried in terms of scrolling and opening apps. battery life also is satisfactory with around 15-17 hrs moderate use per experience. miui v4's external card been changed to emmc =)

[Q] Help with RemICS ROM installation

It's my first time to actually take the plunge and install a custom ROM and I seem to have encountered a problem. I followed the instructions to install RemICS ROM and initially everything went well. I turn on the device and everything seems to work except for the preinstalled MX Player and Apollo. That won't be a problem since maybe I could download replacements. The problem comes with locking the screen. I press on the lock button and the screen turns off. However, pressing the lock or home button does not turn on the screen, and the device proceeds to just heat up and use battery. I've tried returning to the stock ROMs and there seems to be no problem. Just with RemICS. Note though that I am not using 5.7.2 RemICS since it cant be downloaded for bandwidth reasons, I'm on 5.7.1. Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. I'm downloading the 5.7 ROM now. Will the same TouchWiz and GApps files I downloaded with the 5.7.1 ROM work here? Also, is my understanding correct that I first install the RemICS zip (199MB), then install the Fix-RemICS-A4-A5 zip (25MB), then the FixSU zip in that order?
