I bought a brand new HTC chacha some 4 weeks back and had my first abnormal restart the very next day. I tried everything, did factory resets. changed the SD card and even re-flashed a fresh stock ROM but the problem didnt go away. The log files kept on saying kernel panic, not syncing, error during data -xcfer. I took the set to repair after having tried all of this since there is no warranty offered for HTC sets in my region, I was told by the HTC service technician there was a hardware problem with my phone and that I have to sign a dead approval since my phone can be bricked during the repair process.
I had earlier ran a RAM CPU stress test app which showed no errors with the hardware. In a last attempt to save my first android phone I flashed cyanogenmod 7 on my phone. My phone worked flawlessly for 3 weeks or so, yesterday I decided to give the stock ROM another try and I restored "BACKUP" from the time I flashed the custom rom and yet again within 12 hours had another abnormal reset. the log showed the same kernel panic.
Can anyone offer any info regarding this?

Not sure what caused this, I crack flash CM nightlies, constantly convert partitions from ext-3 to ext-4 using beta kernels and at some point in between lost the ability for any computer to recognize my phone mounting (both internal and external). Tried three different computers, two different cables, swapped sd cards, reformatting card and nothing... All that happens when plugging into computer is a charge symbol.
My SD card is accessible through file managers and is mounted just fine to phone (accurate storage space). So I took it into Tmobile and they overnight-ed me a new g2x phone which is expected to come Monday. Claimed it was a hardware failure and acknowledged I had a custom rom and to make sure I put the stock one back . The only problem it is impossible to get the stock recovery image and remove root without a computer so I will be sending them a rooted stock rom with custom recovery. Hopefully they don't charge me for it...
Just wish I knew the cause whether or not it was a bad build or human error issue. Hopefully LG or Tmobile dont charge me full price when they see the firmware has been tampered with. I could always format the system with nothing on it so it just sticks on the LG symbol and has no rom to load up i suppose lol
I had to replace my first g2x because of this. No amount of software/external hardware troubleshooting fixed it. Luckily, I got mine at Costco which has a 90 day return policy. Ill try to find the thread I made... same symptoms though.
Also, my issue occurred on stock rom unrooted, so it wasn't the result of phone tinkering.

Yup, this definitely looks like the same issue despite I am rooted and you were stock which is proof to me that it is a defective hardware and not provoked from me tampering with the firmware. Just hope they dont throw a fit when and if they find it rooted with custom recovery image.
Hi,
I'va had CM7 a10 flashed on my Sensation for a few days. A couple of days ago I've decided to get back to Stock ROM, and then the problems started. Before installing CM7 everything was fine. After restoring my backup from before flashing CM7 weird things started to happen (apps dissapearing, settings changing on their own, hangs, and other stuff). So I've done a SuperWipe a few times, and flashed a completely new Stock ROM via USB using: RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223042_signed file. Then I've done a few factory resets, just in case. But still weird things are happening (eg. now I have a clean phone - once again - and trying to setup the sync options and the options app hangs everytime. and installing something from market is like praying for a miracle). I've tried doing factory reset, clear cache/dalvik (but with dalvik CWM recovery says that the partition or files wasn't found). Don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas ?? Please help. Phone worked fine before, and after CM7 everything is f*cked up
Wierd, looks like you've tried everything I could think of while reading the post.
Do you still have a nandroid backup of CM7, if so does that work if you restore ?
Can you use ADB to get to the phone ? If so you could check some things from there.
When you installed the RUU from the PC, did it install without errors ? Presumably you had to re-install CWM after that.
CM7 nand backup works fine after restore.
I can use ADB to comunicate with the phone.
No errors while updating RUU.exe / CWM recovery flashed without problems also after that.
I think that there's something screwed up with the file permissions.
I've downloaded and installed about 20 apps since the last HR, and now I have about 40 apps more queued in Market, and as before the downloads are stuck every 1-2 apps. Then I have to restart to CWM recovery and run fix permissions. After that another 1-2 apps will download and get stuck again, and so on...
Anyone has any ideas what the hell is going on ? Because my I'm getting more then irritated by this, and beggining to think that the best solution will be to send my phone flying through the window.
A few questions first.
What country are you in?
Who is your carrier?
What version did your phone originally come with? I believe 1.5xxxxx RUU was released recently, but I could be wrong.
Did you ever change your CID?
Have you ever flashed a new radio and RIL?
Did you copy all of the data from your SD card to your computer, then format your SD card using the phone?
Answer these questions and try the SD card thing, then report back. I may be able to help.
Poland.
T-Mobile (Sensation) / Play Mobile (Gio)
Don't remeber what version my Sensation originally came with - I have a 1.50.401.1 RUU that I'm flashing with currently.
Yes, I've changed CID to 11111111 some time ago, but I'm back to original HTC__001 now.
No I haven't changed my radio or RIL.
I've tried formatting the SD card using the phone, my laptop, my linux NAS, my other phones.
The weird thing is that yesterday all of this was progressing. It came to a point that after a factory reset or even a whole ROM reflash nothing would install (not even Market update). And this also started to happen on my Samsung Gio. So after very very very frustrating evening, and part of the night I gave up. And in the morning it was still the same (on both my android phones). But now things are starting to work (updates/installs). So I think I'm going to blame the whole thing on Google and Market. I'll see what happens while I'll install all my apps in the next few hours.
Still have to restart the phone every 1-3 apps installed. This is driving me crazy
Hi all,
I have my Nexus 5 since December and I really like it. But since 2 or 3 weeks my device randomly reboots. I used the franco kernel and my first assumption was that it is causing the reboots, so I went back to the stock kernel some days ago. But the device continued to reboot. It reboots randomly. I am not able to assign the reboots to specific app or something. I haven´t tried a factory reset yet, because it would take me a long time to configure the device.
I attached the last_kmsg.log I captured directly after the last reboot. One of the last entrys is: Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt.
Maybe someone with more knowledge can have a look at it?
Could this be software or a hardware issue?
thanks in advance for any help
These are what i recommend you actions are:
1) Factory reset the device (You can take a nandroid backup and a titanium backup first)
is it still rebooting? if no, start to restore your apps/data one by one until you locate the one that causes the reboots. Is yes:
2) Return to stock factory images all round.
is it still rebooting? If no, ROM / Kernel issue. if Yes, potentially hardware issue

I would flash the rom first without an wipe and run it with stock kernel.
Dont know if you run a custom rom or not
I run stock rom with custom kernel. Since I experienced the reboots I changed back to stock kernel.
I will try your suggestions on the weekend.
thanks for your answers
I set my phone back to totally stock last Saturday and I had no rebooty since then. I will monitor this for a another week and will root and flash a custom kernel when there are no reboots until then.
Couple days ago I flashed my first rom, a nightly kltespr Cyanogenmod 12 through Clockworkmod custom recovery. When it booted up the cell network kept turning on and off but everything else was working (not due to bills or location, it did not acknowledge my SIM). I attempted a clean install several times, but to no avail. Went to boost mobile (my provider) and asked if I could get some help with my phone. I told them I installed a custom OS and they thought it was a virus when they saw the booting animation, lmao. He did a full ****ing system wipe.. So it booted up with CMOD 12 again because I didnt have a backup and didnt install another rom. He asked me if I could connect to their wifi. Then this dumbass wouldnt give me the password to it because he thought I can hack into his PC and **** and threatened to call the cops.. He didnt even give me a new SIM to try. Then I went home and tried downloading the latest version in klte and installing it (still CMOD 12).. Unfortunately, I confused it with kltespr, the correct rom for my SM-G9OOP (keep in mind, before this I installed the correct version, but i had cell service issues). Before I noticed, everything was working fine, then my cell network turned off. I noticed the problem when I went to settings and checked my model number and it was changed to SM-G9OOF, so I downloaded the kltespr version and appropriate gapps package, and prior to installing in Clockworkmod I wiped davlik cache, system, and everything. It boots up fine, but cell network is still not working, and more recently the phone turned off, then got stuck in bootloop. I took out the battery and reinstalled everything in CWM, after wiping again. Booted up fine again, but I still dont have cell service and the phone uncontrollably restarts over and over, forcing me to take the battery out. Is there anything I can do?
Btw this is my first post excuse the length.
Also, **** you Boost, get some competent employees. I highly suggest anyone considering them to stay away.
If I cant fix this im going to get a new iPhone6+ or Note 4 from Verizon.
Try this fix posted in this thread. Has nothing to do with Boost Mobile.

Hi,
My sister has a GT-P3100, since last week the phone keeps rebooting randomly after 3 - 5 minutes most often there are also an error message about Google Play Services or other services has stopped. The phone has Samsung stock Android 4.1.2 XSE and this is the latest firmware as per Samsung website. No root nor custom firmware.
I noticed something weird also, any change made to the settings or apps are reverted back upon reboot. For example, if I set up a WiFi setting, the setting will be gone after reboot. The phone has a number of unread SMS messages too, if I read these messages all of them will become unread again after reboot.
I tried to do factory reset from within the Android setting, it did not work . Everything still intact after reboot.
I tried to do factory reset from Recovery mode, it did not work too. Nothing gets wiped out.
I tried to flash the same firmware using Odin, the NAND write was going on till about 50-55% then it failed. When I rebooted the phone after this failed flash, the phone still has everything intact. No change at all as far as I can see.
Could somebody please help to fix this issue?

Symptoms are of the emmc card bug. Will need hardware intervention. No flashing files will solve this. Get it to the repair shop, they will either replace the motherboard or will get a replacement of the emmc chip.
This is the reason no samsung tab 2 series is safe if they are on a stock rom.
I feel they have better chance on custom rom as with newer roms, this bug doesn't create a problem.

tough luck, the warranty is no more
I had Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that bricked due to emmc bug too.. I did not know this bug affected other Samsung phones/tablets
If I managed to get the emmc chip replaced, will the bug reoccurs?
Thanks for the info
