[Q] framework-res.apk / Swapping statusbar icons between ROMS - HTC Sensation

What I'm trying to do:
Extract the statusbar icons from the "Fluffy Blue Sensation" rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598903
and use those icons to replace my current ones, my phone is running the ViperS 1.0.1 ROM.
I tried extracting the framework-res.apk from the Fluffy_Blue_Sensation ROM, & used that to overwrite the framework-res.apk on my phone. Which left me with a non-bootable phone, thankfully I backup often, & just restored my recent ViperS image.
My question is how can I extract the statusbar icons from Sense4.0 ROMs such as Fluffy_Blue_Sensation or Elegancia, and then import those icons into my phone to replace the ones currently being used?

After a little poking around, I found this tread.
So far, so good. I've replaced the WiFi and signal bar icons from Elegancia Sense 4.0 v2.0 with the stock HTC ones. I'm currently in the middle of doing the battery icons. Talk about tedious.
Since you back up often, you could always try UOT Kitchen. Chances are it'll fail because of how modified the framework is on these Tweaks ROMs, but hey it's worth a try.

Customizing Notification bar icons

I really like the txt msg and gmail notification bar icons that chingy uses in gingeritis....anyway to get those for other roms?
Download the Rom you want icons from and the Rom you plan to use on a pc. Use winrar or 7zip to open un the zip files. Navigate to system, then framework, then it'll either be in framework res.apk, or com.htc.resources.apk. if the icons aren't in either of those it may be in systemui.apk (because its gingerbread which I haven't used) this is located in system, then app. It may be easier to find the icons by unzipping the Rom you want the icons from (in order to unzip an apk you need to first zip it and rename it .zip instead of .apk then unzip)
Check out UOT Kitchen
UOT Kitchen gives you some customization options for Battery, Icons, ect... May not be exactly what you are looking for but its fun to customize things and it's pretty idiot proof. You upload your files, make the changes, it spits out a ZIP, you flash it in recovery.
I use BAMF but I hate the battery icon it defaults with so I just change it after every update to the Rom they push out.

Normally the text and gmail (and email) icons are stashed in their own .apk file. I just changed mine over the weekend to match my other colorful icons. I had to edit the Mail.apk, Gmail.apk and Mms.apk to get those icons to show up. The framework-res.apk and the SystemUI.apk (GB ROM) is where you will find the other icons for signal, battery etc..
I use ADB to copy those files out, make the changes put them back and then reboot the phone. You could also make the changes and then put them in a flash-able zip to be flashed via recovery

Update Crt off and ICS Animation for JQ8 Stock Roms with root + New Theme

Added Blue and Black theme
Honeycomb Blue and black theme, combination from all themes available for our TAB, i used parts from AF's JQ8 release, overcome 7 and from Nautious theme, (i like to thank the guys for releasing those roms/themes so i can use them) i just put the stuff together to my taste and maybe you like it too, If you do, download file blue.theme, unpack the zip and push the apk's with adb or replace with root explorer.
The screenshot , you only see the blue taskbar icons but it is all over the menus and so on, it is a combination of blue´,black and misty white.
============================================================================================================================================
Green default stock theme - Attached you will find the files needed to have CRT screen off animation and ICS Animation on JQ8 firmwares, i also included a mod in systemui.apk for the replacement of the system switch icons nothing fancy but better then the default ugly ones, see screenshot, in the mediaprovider.apk i changed the sdcard icons what you see when it is scanning the cards for media. sorry dont have pic of that one. I also changed the settings page into black instead of white.
The boot animation file is from overcome 2.0 serie it is the blue android bootanimation one if you have it before. Thats all.
You will need to replace the APK's with root explorer or push it with adb, the boot animation you can flash with cwm, i use JQ8 with Overcome Kernel 4.0.
The ics animation will be at its best if you use a other launcher then the default one, with the default one you dont have the animations on switching between application or close the application and going back to the previous window. I am running this all lag free and it is a very nice addon for the great release of JQ8
O BTW, i am in noway responsible for any damage what so ever when you use this.
Cheers

[Q] to enable lockscreen & toggles

As the title would need to know or any employee who wants to do it for me.
I asked this because I have UBKPD (ARO 2.3.6) and all the themes and lockscreen not work for this version of GB.
I compared the files:
android.policy.jar
framework.jar
with those of the themes / lockscreen to XXKPQ (2.3.6 as well) but differ in the weight / size relative to those of UBKPD.
Errors in flash a lockscreen theme with and without boot loop are, and if I replace the 2 jar files I get errors in the notification bar and others who are in the apk systemui.
Thank you very much.

having issues trying to theme. NEED ADVICE!

im running beans rom and i know it uses the aroma installer. usually with my previous phones i could mod the systemUI or framework.res and create a flashable zip and flash through recovery. it seems with this particular rom you cannot do that or you will get system crashes and or a bootloop. the only way ive found to flash a theme i create is to use the vrtheme folder method where it mods the apk instead of replacing it in a whole. "hope that makes sense?"
what im trying to do is change the lockscreen text color to ics blue which ive done on several other phones. since the xml im editing for the colors is in the layout folder i think i need to flash the entire framework.res and i cannot do that. i tried to just flash the layout folder via the vrtheme method and i was sent into a bootloop.
can i get any advice from a themer on what im doing wrong? usually the mods i do work with no issues and im pulling my hair out about this.

Themes for other Roms will not work for this rom. The apks that the themes replace are different than ours. if you do attempt to flash a theme from another ROM youre phone will probably end up in a boot loop.
To theme
You will need to copy these apps from /system/app folder in phone or from downloaded rom:
Settings.apk
Phone.apk
Contacts.apk
SystemUI.apk
Framework-res.apk from /system/framework
Rename the app youre wanting to theme from .apk to .apk.zip
extract the res folder to a folder anywhere with 7zip(Leave this window open)
change the icons you want in each folder(Usually hdpi and xhdpi folders except for systemui)(make sure to keep same name and size of original icon)
select all icons in the folder you are working in and simply drag and drop icons to same folder in 7zip window replacing old icons
rename .apk.zip back to .apk
push to phone via adb or make update and flash with cwm
if you did the steps correctly you will have themed an app.
Be careful with the .9 images resizing or messing with them can cause them to not display correctly
I use gimp to mod icons.
Im working on a theme myself now. Only thing that gets me is Pantech and AT&T have added alot of icons that are masking the original icons for ICS that are in the apks as well. So there is alot of modding to do to make a full theme for this ROM.

Is it possible to integrate something like the Theme Chooser(available on CM10 and AOKP) on your rom?
so that there is a direct compatibility with other CM10 themes?

Im sure its possible. and yes it is possible to port the themes to our phone. Atleast some of them. You would have to rewrite some of the smali files in the .apk's and .jar files and make a few other changes that will make the apps run on our phone. Thats what Im trying to do now

The only thing i miss about your awesome Ice Flex Rom is the theme-ing capability
theme-ing and customizations are my reasons to choose android over windows Phone
there are just so many awesome flashable Themes available for CM10, its a shame that great phone like Flex can't be themed yet
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801752
i am currently trying to read up on android basics and see what i can do myself to help you :good:
