[Q] [SOLVED] Help I Might've Bricked My Phone - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I have no ROM installed, Clock Work Recovery is gone and to make it worse my bootloader is re-locked. Is there NO way to save my phone?

Use the unlock_code.bin token htcdev emailed you to unlock it, then flash a recovery or you can run a ruu and that will get you back up n running with a clean slate. Anytime you relock the bootloader this will happen. Easy fix and your far from bricked so dont worry. Hope this helps, let me know if u have anymore questions

I unlocked my bootloader how do I flash my recovery since the method I used before doesn't work.
EDIT I flashed the older version CWM which doesnt allow me to mount USB storage, which I need to do so I can get my ROM on my phone to install. How do I flash the new version (which remedies this problem) since the instructions here didnt help http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/99

Download the image file, then run:
fastboot flash recovery <filename.img>
While your phone is in fast boot mode while connected to your PC

It seems to hang when I try to do that
EDIT
I changed USB ports all is good. Thank you all for the help.

[Q] What is the best option for my situation?

So I have a ns4g that I attempted to root but got hung up and am now stuck with a unlocked bootloader but no super user. So as I see it I have 3 options (if you see others PLEASE TELL ME)
1. somehow get my bootloader locked again and go back to stock (unroot)
2. keep unlocked bootloader and eventually accept ics ota (will this be ok or will having an unlocked bootloader much things up with the ota?)
3. figure out a way to finish the root process I'm sort of in the middle of (aka get super user)
If it matters I am running 2.3.7 and using a macbook running 10.7.2
What would you guys suggest?

flash a custom recovery(cwm or twrp) via fastboot, then flash a custom rom(and gapps). thats all you need. all the custom roms out there have root. you dont have to flash superuser.
How do I flash cwm? I think when I did this before I had the wrong version as it didn't allow for me to mount after I unlocked the bootloader
Use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1250583 to root! It will recognize that your bootloader is already unlocked and skips to flashing CMW and giving you root! There's a youtube video showing it in action if you get stuck by qbking!
Will this work with osx?

heres the latest version of cwm recovery for the nexus s(not ns4G) http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img
heres where all the cwm recoveries can be found, including the ns4g http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager

I'm fairly content just waiting for the google ics ota... when that comes will it mess my phone up because of my unlocked bootloader?
or even better can someone write me instructions to lock my bootloader?
I found this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=875630
But obviously there are steps before this to have the terminal put these commands towards the phone.

look at part 3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007782
only you dont need superuser, any custom rom has root.
Ok, I think I just want to relock my phone and wait for the ota...
I've tried just going into terminal and typing "fastboot oem lock" and it says that the command is not found... what did I do wrong?
You don't need to lock bootoader to get ota.
I've read before that accepting an ota with an unlocked bootloader will brick your phone... Can anyone else confirm that it's ok to accept the eventual ota with an unlocked bootloader?

HELP! Messed up with HTC Vivid

So as some of you may know, the vivid was recently unlocked. Being comfortable with root and custom roms from my nexus one, I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it...
I then wanted to install a ROM that many were reporting to work well with the ATT vivid... however I did something wrong.
I first went here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365853 which says you need to install the kernel here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359656
However I guess I have no recovery? If I click on recovery in bootloader it just shows a phone with some arrows... and if I open ADB on my computer it just scrolls through stuff quickly then closes. Am I screwed? I can get to my bootloader at least... any help would be much appreciated.
If I could somehow flash the stock kernel back I'm sure it would work, as the stock kernel source is available at htcdev However I can't figure out how to get adb to let me actually enter commands while in the bootloader.
Solved it!
I pushed the recovery using fastboot on the computer and was able to flash the ROM. Yay!
Ok so how does your rom work for you? is it better than stock? Oh and of course what rom was it?

Are you using TWRP or CWM as your recovery?
twrp
You will not be able to flash any custom roms as long as your bootloader is locked. The most you can do with the locked bootloader is use an RUU to get back to stock. Which bootloader are you on now? 1.14?
my bootloader is unlocked at this moment. um would my bootloader be where it says.. hboot? if so its 2.13.0000?
Correct, the bootloader is an all white screen, with the radio, hboot and other such info at the top of it. Well you are good then. Just so we are clear you have a HTC One S S4 right, you dont have a HTC One S C2? Thats very important that we get that info correct, we don't want to brick your device.
im almost certain its a s4.. i got it from t mobile here in the uk any check i can do from the bootloader to confirm?
If you're not S-off, did you make sure to fastboot flash the kernel after flashing rom in recovery?
From my Evo LTE, yup.
im s-on, and no i dont believe i did no
how would i go about fixing that?

You should have read and followed the instructions in the OP of the rom you downloaded so.
Try flashing boot.img in fastboot mode with typing 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' in terminal window. Hope you're familiar with the platform-tools in android development kit...
Else download here and
follow the step by step instructions.
reboot into bootloader with your phone connected to you pc. make sure you are in Fasboot USB mode, it should say that in the bootloader screen. Move the boot.img from whatever rom you flashed and put it in the same directory as ADB and Fastboot. make sure its named boot.img. open a command prompt that points at that same directory as ADB and Fastboot, type
fasboot flash boot boot.img

thanks for trying so far
Is it still locked? And you're on custom recovery (twrp)?
You need to reflash the ROM you want. Then reboot into the boot loader from TWRP. Once there, follow my previous instructions.

how can i get the rom onto my phone now that i cant access the phones internal folders?
Is the ROM not on your phone anymore? If not, just mount from TWRP and copy over.

So i rooted the phone, no issues. i tried to flash TWRP and CWM and both failed.
So when i go to recovery all i get is a black screen with white writiing that says

eMMC info: Size 32GB
Divice is LOCKED, Status Code: 0
Battery OK
Connect USB
Data Cable
Failed to hab check for recovery: 0x56
Fastboot Reason: Boot Failure
I can exit out and get back to android.
Since i can get the bootloader unlocked (at least i dont think there is a way) i want to flash everything back to factory, it can be unrooted as well. just want a clean start on it.
any help would be great thanks.

sounds like you jacked stock recovery. if it will boot up, try using this http://www.mediafire.com/download/tt7cwwua49n24uv/Razr_HD_Recovery_Flasher_V7.rar to put the stock recovery back on. i cant say for sure it will work but i think it will.

If the bootloader is locked, it's highly unlikely that attempting to flash a recovery would've touched the stock recovery. With that being said, you can use one of the utilities to flash back to completely stock or use RSD and flash the most up-to-date XML from here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish/list.php

true but you have to modify files before rsd will work, and the utilities say dont use on the latest update (locked) unless there is one i haven't seen, correct?

I've never had to modify the XMLs to work in RSD, but you might have to for some of them. You can swap files in the utilities and put the newest update in there. Also, flashing your zip or any other zip should clear the flash fail.

boot the phone up (just power on), after on plug it into your pc, use the tool i posted in #5 (just going off what RikRong said, any successful flash should clear the failure) flash "stock recovery", let it reboot and see if its fixed.
if its not fixed, im still under the impression you will have to do one of 2 things to fix it from what i read others post previously,
-replace the files in matts utility with the latest ones from the stock files, or
-modify the xml file in the latest sbf to get rsd to work without failing

My Droid Razr HD is doing the same thing
My screen says all of that also.
its says its locked and the battery is ok and all of that
I was trying to root my phone which was unsuccessful.
Now I cannot start and run my phone properly.
when it comes on it has me choose a language and press start and then acts like its loading and says it may take a few minutes. It will do that for hours and never move on to the next step.
How did you fix yours and recover it?
None of the other options on the reboot screen work...
I had tried:
normal start up
AP fast Boot
Recovery
BP Tools
They all lead to the same thing with the language selection and so on.
What can I do?

if you have a 925 do NOT use ^^ that. you will have to use rsd instead.

on the bootloader screen it says "status code 3" correct?
you cant flash cwm or twrp with fastboot?
what exactly is it doing or not doing and does the flash dialog indicate it flashing ok?
you imply, you cant boot into recovery, then say a factory reset wont work. what happens exactly in either of those attempts?
after you flash a custom recovery, you have to power off the phone and boot right into it and flash the su zip (do not boot the system in between), you know that correct?
any other info you can provide that i may have left out could be helpfull in getting this working for you.
Hello everyone,
I know this tread is old but, I have a problem and I hope someone here can help me. I have a mot razr 926 with these specs:
android version 4.1.2;
System version 9.30.1.XT926.Verizon
Kernel 3.0.31 ( I believe is stock)
Build number 9.8.1Q-94-1
My phone was rooted before with stock rom; I had to do a factory reset; so I reset, rooted again and my mistake it was trying to unlock the bootloader ( I know, I know, it's 9.30....)
Now my problem is that I don't have "recovery" or I don't have access to it. Things that I have tried:
Moto utility 1.34
Moto utility 1.3 gpt fix
Razr HD Recovery flasher V7 (tried to install cwm and stock)
I'm just trying to get any recovery working.... any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Have you tried the stock recovery??, it can be tricky to get into stock recovery by pressing the correct combination of buttons
EDIT: You can use RSD Lite to update your phone to 182.46.10 and use Towelroot to re-root the phone. Once rooted, you can use Motoapocalypse to unlock bootloader.

[Q] about root

are the modaco's rooting method still viable ? I'm seeing people saying it not work.
and can we root without having to flash other recovery, just using the default one (fastboot).
Nope, no rooting methods without unlocking bootloader yet. Most reliable method is to use custom recovery to root, and also some other fastboot (which will need unlocked bootloader)

oh thank you for the info, then I root with cwm :good:
Stock recovery is pretty useless now, I hardly have any idea what it can even be used for other than those ota updates. Do you not want to move away from stock recovery cause you might not install firmware updates? You can install alternate recovery just for rooting and revert back to stock if you really want to.

oh yeah forgot about that, but what if after root, I lock back the bootloader ?
is the root still there ?
To lock bootloader you have flash your stock firmware, which in a way would be a complete reset, so no root left. Also, whatever you do after with the phone, once you request the unlock code from the moto website, they will consider your phone unlocked, hence no warranty. You can relock to try your luck and they just might not care if you are lucky.
Be very careful with locking bootloader though, locking your bootloader in a wrong way (wrong firmware, not flashing all files, downgrading) will create a big mess. In my opinion, stay away from locking bootloader!

You need working adb and fastboot drivers.
Download here:

Guide:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47705438&postcount=6 (For unlocking bootloader)
2. After unlocking (which will be equal to a complete reset, no files left in your "sd card"), boot into fastboot mode again and use this command:

You can also use that too to push supersu to sd card or manually place it. Reboot to recovery (adb reboot recovery) and flash that zip file.
