Hi guys, i want to root my phone but i can't, here is he:
***** LOCKED ******
SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.00.0002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
CID: 11111111
I got the s-off, but I tried to flash the 4EXT or the CWM and i get this:

How can i root my phone?

Can any1 help me? I really want to root my phone, but i cant flash any recovery. What i have to do? flash a eng-hboot?

i for one, don't understand how you got s-off with that hboot
I think you aren't really s-off.
Try to downgrade then root, that may be one of your solutions

Before all this, my phone was rooted, i dont know how, it was:
SAGA PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.98.2000 (PG8810000)
RADIO-38.03.00.03_M
eMMC-boot
Then i flashed a RUU, to back to stock, now i got this:
***** LOCKED ******
SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.00.0002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
I dont know what i have to do to root it again

If you flashed a RUU you are certainly S-ON and not rooted.
Try to downgrade but don't use the Htcdev method

According to Jack_R1 in this post i just need to flash this zip file, or am i wrong?
Can this .zip file work?

I don t think so.
In the index you have two methods to downgrade without using the Htcdev method.
After you downgraded you can obtain root S-OFF and flash what you want.
All the info required is in the index and in another 1000+ related topics.
Good luck!

You have S-OFF even after flashing RUU, and you have SuperCID (CID=11111111). This can mean only one thing - your phone was unlocked with XTC-Clip.
So, you're permanently S-OFF, and can flash anything you want from HBOOT (using PG88IMG.ZIP) - but NOT from FASTBOOT. To be able to fastboot flash something, you have to have re-engineered bootloader - but you don't have it, since you flashed stock RUU.
So, you can use the PG88IMG.ZIP that contains Eng HBOOT, the one you've found. It'll allow you to fastboot flash whatever you want.

It seems that you are one of the few lucky guys that have Stock S-OFF. The second picture is your Stock Recovery (if you press Volume Up + Power you will enter the menu)
To flash a custom ROM you need to flash a custom recovery - there is a link to an image in OP of the 4EXT Recovery thread.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery {path}\recovery.img
Then copy the ROM to your SDcard, go to recovery, full wipe and flash it

a. You must have a custome recovery.img for you to flash your Root Access
b. Start your phone on bootloader, then go to fastboot
c. Open up command prompt then type:

fastboot reboot-bootloader
d. Now go and access recovery to flash Root access

I was a little difficult

Now I have read the thread from the start and the post #8 (written by Jack_R1) may be your case too. Check it out
I guess your phone was not bought S-OFFed but was made so by XTC Clip

I try to Flash Custom Recovery but in cmd i god this message, can you help me with this

You can't fastboot flash without having eng (or unlocked) bootloader.
With your level of (not) understanding, I highly suggest you to leave your phone alone and read. If you feel like it's too complicated - read more, until you understand. If you don't understand - don't touch your phone, I'm sure it's good enough as it is.

Try the latest version of SuperOneClick with the zergRush option. With a date of Aug 2011 on the hboot, it might be old enough that SuperOneClick might work.

Does not seem to work :
Unlock using HTCDEV, then flash a recovery of choice and then root using it.
Maybe you could temproot (without using HTCdev), maybe someone else could show you how to do that.

I have exactly the same HBOOT details on my Desire S, which I purchased SIM free from Carphonewarehouse in the UK.
First you need to 'unlock' it. The easiest way is to use HTCdev unlock bootloader at
http://htcdev.com/bootloader
Register and follow the steps. The Desire S is not listed so choose 'All other supported models' at the bottom of the list.
When it tells you to download the Android SDK, don't ! Instead download and extract AndroidControl v1.3.1 which is explained at the following link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049115
When you extract it it will create a folder. Inside you will find the three files/applications that you need to complete the rest of the steps, ie adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll and fastboot.exe.
On submitting the details you will get the unlock_code.bin sent to your email address. Then just follow the rest of the steps and the phone will be unlocked.
Recheck the HBOOT screen and it should now show as Unlocked. However it will still show S-ON. I haven't figured the rest out yet.
I have come from a Samsung Galaxy 3 i5800 where once your phone is unlocked you can flash a custom pre-rooted ROM with ODIN.
I can't figure out what the flashing tool for HTC phones is. Anyone help?

Thanks , man. I am still surprised it's a lot of work to do a root .....
Well, HTC seem to be very helpful on their site in providing the means to unlock the bootloader so that "users can customise their phones".
I am not sure what all this S-OFF and S-ON is all about. If it stopped users customising their phones then surely HTC would also provide the means to S-OFF the phone? So what is the advantage/need to S_OFF?
I am bit confused and the FAQs don't seem to help. My phone is unlocked but still S-ON. Surely I just need to root it now with Superoneclick?

You need Security-OFF to flash hboot (bootloader) or different version of radio.
With htcdev bootloader unlock you gain the freedom to modify the Recovery, Kernel and System.

yes this should work
Tried Superoneclick and the same happens as described above. It gets so far and then stops.
Tried Revolutionary and it starts and then says "Hboot 2.00.0002 not yet supported".
Gingerbreak doesn't appear to support 2.00.002 either.
I guess the latest Desire S can't be rooted yet by an exploit.
If HTC says unlocking the bootloader enables me to install a custom ROM, then how do I do it? Do I use a program and if so which one, or do I load a zimage onto the SD card and do it that way?
Also I can't find SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL mentioned in the STOCK ROMs. Does anyone know who PVT is intended for? Europe, India etc etc ? If I do intall a custom ROM I want to be able to flash back to a Stock ROM.
Sorry for asking so many questions.
bjlabuk
There are sticky guides that will give you all the info.
Hint (as already mentioned above): htcdev unlock allows you to:
1) flash custom recovery
2) flash custom rooted /all of them are/ ROM with the new custom recovery
3) flash the Kernel of the new custom ROM
4) be a happy rooted user
Thanks, I was reading all the info for noobies you refer to, but am still confused. Guess the HTC is alot more complicated than my previous Samsung Galaxy 3 which I rooted and flashed custom ROMs to numerous times without problem.
I will keep reading!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390496&page=3
Hope this helps. also keep in mind that this only roots, does not s-off ur phone so the rom flashing process is a little more tricky but the solution is also mentioned in the development forums
LE: also, to achieve s-off this might come in handy as it downgrades your hboot and then i guess u can use revolutionary or any other tool to s-off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919
After you are s-off go here for instructions on how to reflash the engineering hboot 2.00.0002
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236890
Please read the threads carefully and ask when something is not clear as an unrooted phone is always better than a bricked one. i know that it seems complicated as s**t but it really isn't. if you are attentive and follow the given instructions everything should be fine.
Good luck!
Thanks,
I have followed the first link and my phone is now rooted, but still S-ON, as you say.
I will read the other links.
Thanks again

Seems you installed an ICS firmware but probably you have a GB rom this is why it bootloops.
What rom you were trying to flash?
Did you install a custom recovery first? (like CWM or 4ext?)
First: delete PG58IMG.zip from sd card
second: reboot in bootloader and go to recovery (hope you have installed a custom recovery).
Then, from recovery flash the rom (assuming is an ICS rom and you put in the root of your sd card already).
Hope it helps.

Hi kualmente.
I was trying to flash Revolution HD. I was doing step 2 to install the recovery, and i forgot where i downloaded the file with the name PG58IMG.zip, which is the ICS rom.
I didn't installed any recovery, because it was the recovery that i tried to installed then this issue came out. I tried to select recovery from the bootloader with or without the sd card, all i got is a red exclamation mark......
I think i'm in deep shi t......... please help me
You need to flash custom recovery first. All flashable zips from bootloader are called PG58IMG. So chose the right one and do not forget where you downloaded.
The exclamation mark means you are on stock recovery. No worries.
Re-download the custom recovery and put on root of sd card (means not into a folder).
Download CWM recovery from HERE
Then:
1) Reboot while pressing vol down + power button. It will install recovery.
2) Delete PG58IMG from sd card.
3) Reboot again (like point 1)
4) go to recovery, scroll down untill you find superwipe(wathevername.zip)
5) go back
6) again install from sd card - chose zip from sd card. This time chose the rom (wathevername.zip).
Remember to use Vol -/+ to scroll and power button to select.
Last but not least, be patient and wait untill the entire process is completed and prompted to reboot system.
Hit thanks button if it helped!

No need to go back to an RUU, potentially a big risk.
As an earlier post said get ClockworkMod (CWM) and install it. Then Superwipe then install your ICS ROM of choice
As stated all the bootloader flashable images are called "PG58IMG.zip". So the recovery and F/W will both be called that when you install them through bootloader. Hence it's a VERY good idea to clean up afterwards. When ever I download a PG58IMG.zip I rename it, e.g. to cwm-5.0.2.0-PG58IMG.zip, of course they have to be renamed to the correct name to flash them. This means I can easily keep track of the dammed files in case I need to use them again.

HTC Sensation XE stuck in bootloop [SOLVED]

Hi all,
I am trying to recover an HTC Sensation XE (PG58130), but I have no history on the unit, so I don't know if it's been modified or is genuinely faulty.
When you power the phone on, all you get is the HTC logo. Nothing else happens.
Vol Down + Power displays the following info:

I have tried "Factory Reset". I also put the phone into Recovery, then wiped data and cache, but still only get the HTC logo.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, does the information above suggest the phone hasn't been modified?
It hasn't been modified. It still is S-on and has the original hboot 1.18

you need to soff your device which will let you flash a custom rom....
so that you can bring back your phone from hell
here is the guide to all the basic steps which are required to flash any rom
guide link
Thanks - I'll take a look.
Does that void the warranty with HTC? I would like to retain the warranty where possible, but if that's the only option then I don't mind.

all the things you are doing are reversible but you need to be careful while doing it
Follow step by step for successful soff
Also STEP 5 in the guide helps you in reversing the process which will help you in claiming the warranty
PS: Read each and every step carefully and execute them ...then it'll be a piece of cake
Sorry, another question, but I want to make sure I get this right.
It says in the guide to run revolutionary and then connect the phone. However, it says the phone should be on and in HTC Sync mode.
Obviously this phone isn't powering on so that's a problem.
Any ideas?

oops forgot about that
try this
keep your phone in hboot mode (i.e. power + vol down button) you'll get a white screen
then run revolutionary (hopefully revolutionary detects the phone)
if it doesn't work (i mean if revolutionary didn't recognize your device) let me know..
Im currently looking for any other method and ill post you if i got any leads
EDIT:
found the guide (follow steps carefully)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469296
There seems to be different headers indicating different steps. Which steps should I follow in my case?
By the way, I saw your post before you edited it, and followed these steps to setup adb and fastboot: http://dottech.org/tipsntricks/2153...ows-computer-for-use-with-your-android-phone/
When I type 'adb devices' into cmd I get nothing (when in HBOOT), but when I go to fastboot and type 'fastboot devices' it shows me the phone's serial number. Is that normal?
Yeah that is normal.
Adb works when you are on your OS ie either GB or ICS and fastboot works when you are on bootloader..as fastboot was able to recognize your device can you post the cid
Command is "fastboot getvar cid"
Edit:
The thing is now you require a GB Rom which can be flashed which supports. your hboot and radio but by flashing that your hboot version should not change as that is the final version where soff works.
So try unlocking your device by using HTC dev and flash a stock 2.3 Rom mentioned in the guide.
Try the way where he mentioned about a member flashing rom (he has the same scenario hboot 1.18 and ics Rom on top of it with gb firmware)

yeah cid does require some changes...but have you tried
revolutionary by keeping your phone connected to your pc through usb ???
i mean when you ran revolutionary was it able to identify your device and asked for beta key??
if it did recognized your device then you'll be not having issues anymore
so just try revolutionary first and let me know the result
In the mean time i'll figure out the best solution for you
EDIT: Also you got recovery installed ?? can you check that by going into recovery from HBOOT -> (if it is an exclamatory mark with inverted triangle then stock recovery)
I ran revolutionary in HBOOT and it didn't do anything, just said it was waiting for the device.

To wipe data and cache I entered recovery, then pressed Vol Up + Power which brought up further options to wipe, etc.

finally i got the ruu which installed should give you the GB on it
1.here is the link to download the RUU (it will be big file 358 MB)
RUU link
this RUU.exe is based on your CID and Radio so it will run fine
2.Guide to install RUU
guide
3.if any issue persists (there is 1 common one which was fixed by a guy)
here is the link for the fix if you run into issue
RUU running issues fix
run the ruu.exe and your phone will be reverted back to GB rom
then if you want to update to ICS there are some basuc steps to be done...
i.e SOFF and all so follow the "Guide to SOFF ,supercid ...." thread
after that you can take take this guide as reference for installing any custom rom
EDIT:
ahh man the RUU may be wrong ( will update you about this)
i got another ruu
download this also...this seems more proper for your CID
RUU 2 LINK
Thanks, will reply once I've done all that. The file is downloading now. It says I have to ensure an ActiveSync connection is established, so here's hoping it lets me do that in HBOOT/Fastboot/Recovery.
UPDATE:
1.72 RUU one was for XE version
and 1.52 one was for normal sensation
Oh this one is XE so I need the first link you gave, right? And what mode do you recommend it to be in? Recovery, Fastboot or HBOOT?
EDIT: first link doesn't work once download is supposed to commence.

from HBOOT (as that is the default bootloader that pops up)
if this didn't work then try FASTBOOT

Few problems.. Storage, root, restart...

First problem is about my storage.. here's a screen shot:

As you can see, internal storage is ok, sd storaga as well. What i'm confused about is that info above internal storage "total space 3.0GB - Available 8.32GB"...
Can anyone explain this to me?
Second question is about rooting. I got the phone S-Off out of the box.
*LOCKED*
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.0000
RADIO-11.22.3504.07_M
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0131
eMMC-boot
I want to root it but i'm not sure can i simply install recovery and root it, or unlock the hboot first... or something else...
Oh yeah, one more thing. Every time i restart my phone i get the message ANDROID IS UPGRADING and optimizing applications.. What's that about?
Thank you very much!
P.S.
I'm not a total noob, played with HD2 and desire HD in the past with no problems..

Hi,
In terms of the storage,I have seen this before, and it is just a "quirk" of ICS.
It is just what is in the build.prop
You are lucky, indeed,to find s-off straight out of the box.
Check my signature (☺ A great starting point for all new Sensation owners ☺)
Look for the guide by ganesh for the rooting.
Look for the guide by joaquinf for the installation of the custom recovery, 4EXT.
Android upgrading will occur every time you clear cache and dalvik, when you reboot.
Nothing to worry about.
Thank you for your reply.
Only thing that concerns me is my hboot version (1.27.0000) as all guides talk about 1.18 or lower...

Hi,
Have a look at the list I gave you.
#2 from ganesh deals with your hboot.
#12 from joaquinf will guide you through the 4 EXT recovery installation.
Thank you for your time. I'll give it a shot!
I did it. Phone is rooted, installed ARHD rom.
I did not flash their firmware, bootloader is still *LOCKED*... what should i do? Should i ulnock it? How to unlock it? HTCdev?
Also, i can't flash touch recovery. I installed regular one via rom manager from google play..

Hi,
If you are s-off,you do not need to involve HTC at all.
The locked means you are restricted when you want to use fastboot commands.
Try using HASSOON'S TOOL to install 4EXT.
Stay away from Rom Manager.
It is not a very good tool.
EDIT:
Actually,if you installed ARHD,then, you will have 4EXT,as it gets installed on first boot.
You can go to market and upgrade it.
It is not expensive, and it helps the developer.
I just tried that tool. It takes me to htcdev to get unlock token.. but htcdev is out of order at the moment...
I will try again tonight...

Hi,
As ganesh says,do not use HTC.
Check your recovery.
Like I said,if you installed ARHD,you should have 4EXT,as it is included in the package.
ok if you want unlocked hboot/eng-hboot ..just do these steps one by one from fastboot
1.get the controlbear ics folder from here
2.extract the zip and go to that folder
3.open command prompt there (if windows hold shift + right click -> open command window here)
4.and then type controlbear -i
thats all ..it will install juopunutbear hboot aka unlocked hboot
Thank you both very much! Everything worked! juopunutbear hboot, 4ext, cid, root, custom rom! All is good.
Unfortunately, i can not make a donation or buy anything because i live in one messed up country...
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP!

Hi,
No problem.
Just happy that everything worked out.

[Q] [ assistance required ] lets wake up this ONE S!

Hello, my HTC ONE S is soft bricked, its stuck now at boot loop. I have done many many tutorials, many custom tools tryed, no luck. I don't know what else to do.. The only hope is you guys, could please someone would supervise me on step by step instructions on what to do?
I would try to respond in details as fast as i can about the situation and wait for later instructions.
STATUS:
S4 class device
CID O2___001
TAMPERED
UNLOCKED
VLE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.15.0000
RADIO-1.12.50.05.05
OpenDSP-v31.1.0.45.0815
eMMC-boot
TWRP v2.6.3.0
Last installed rom: cm-10-2.0.-ville.zip When device boots in to a rom, after HTC logo boot-loop appears, and all over again.
Booting in to HBOOT Works, booting in to a Recovery also works.
SDK platform-tools installed, USB ADB drivers installed.
FASTBOOT commands works,
ADB commands - does not, adb device not found because rom wont boot.
Adb sideload works.
what i should do?
Did you flash kernel when installing the rom?

as far as i remember - yes, but cm 10 did not provide separate boot.img or instructions about it.
You have to flash it separately since you are s-on. There should be a boot.img in the rom's zip, extract it and flash via fastboot

Good to know I could help.
By the way you said that you installed cm-10, and strongly recommend you to try cm-11. I think it's far more stable right now.
Anyway have fun

oh yes yes, i only used cm10 as a base rom, something clean to wake this phone up now what i will do is supercid, s-off and then go for something like maximus hd
It can be tough to supercid for you. Hboot 2.15 is a little problematic cause it has write protection. I hope you can do it. You shouldn't forget to enable root access to adb from developer options or you won't be able to use adb.
S-OFF

If you use rummrunner.us to S-OFF you wont need supercid.
I used it and it worked fine. You might need to experiment with the ROM.
Some aren't compatible, but you will only use it for the S-OFF.
Hope this helps you :good:

Lol i did it! its now SUPERCID and S-OFF with Hboot 2.15
it was not easy... i did first supercid with hex editing trick, was hard to pull the special file, but i did some actions with manual pulling by recovery and build in file manager, but i managed to change and push back in with adb shell su.
the s-off part was the hardest. i tryed first rumrunner 0.5.0, dint worked, then moonshine 3.16 - dint worked, got error pretty quick, then i did soffbin3 method - no luck, but it might did some shanges in system anyways. Then, i did revone method by chmoding and sending revone commands with adb shell su. it did something but failed, but i told myself - hey, its still s-on, but maybe now i did some changes to the system anyways and now rumrunner will do is job more easily, well, here is what happened: i actually laughed my ass off reading this lol

it took long time, BUT IT DID THE JOB! XD
finally i can install pretty much anything i want :victory:
oh by the way: a little tip: if anybody would get trouble to install HTC ADB drivers with error (as windows cant find the patch specified), i installed samsung drivers instead by force (from galaxy s3 adb) cause i dint find any solution to solve htc driver issue.., but samsung adb drivers works perfectly with HTC!
