1st- We try to keep these kind of questions in the general section. The "Development" section is for actual roms, hacks, and mods. It gets kinda confusing, I know.
2nd- Rom Manager needs clockworkmod to work. As of right now It is not working for the sgs4g. As previously stated they are working on it.
3rd- There are no real "rom's" to speak of yet ported to our device. There are a couple in this section that are basically stock rom updates.
I would read ALLOT before starting to mod your phone. This will get you started, and you can read how to use odin in the vibrant section, just remember do not flash anything from that section.
Thank you and will do

[Q] How to root Cappy with official Gingerbread?

I upgraded my 2.2 rooted Cappy to 2.3.5 using Samsung Mini Kies everything worked perfect and now I want to root my phone again, any help with this?
P.D.: I dont want to flash any custom kernels or any custom anything as I saw on another thread, I just want to re-root my phone.
Sorry friend but you're going to have to have to flash a new kernel to allow you to root.
Try starting here:

Thanks for your help but I think I'll wait some more before trying this so hopefully someone will find a way to root the way I'm looking for
I agree. The method currently posted is way too complicated
No it isn't you people are just to lazy to read and know what you're doing!

As the sticky at the top of the forum says, do not post questions here in General, post them in Q&A.

What does this mean??

My friend has a sidekick 4g and this screen appeared on his phone. No response..can't get it to recovery or download. I have a Skyrocket so I don't know what this screen is. Is it bricked? I think he was trying to put CWN on with Odin when it happened. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Hey there fellow XDA'er,
That is a different screen for download mode on the SK4G. I dont know what you mean by using Odin to flash CWM on the device. Odin is a program used to reflash the original firmware on the device. Odin can use that screen to flash the original firmware on your device, it may be soft bricked.
First you could use this to firmware and pit file for the SK4G to flash with Odin. --> (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885482) add http to that. I cant post links yet :\
Then you and your friend should follow this thread for getting CWM on your device --> (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124453) again add the http but remove the ().
The recovery correct update.zip file used on the SK4G can be found here --> (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1965239) Again with the http...
I think I covered everything you should look further into these forums next time though there is usually a thread posted needing this same help. Just trying to help out. Free to ask questions if I missed anything.
Thanks for your help. I'm not new to flashing or Odin but my friend is. I told him to join XDA and he can get all the answers he needs if he just searches and READS! LOL As for this post..oops..I just broke the search rule myself. Lol Thanks again

Rooted my galaxy 5.0..scared to flash but want to know whats next?

So this morning i rooted my 5.0 player. Still has factory rom/kernal and runs on gingerbread 2.5 or whatever the stock firmware and os is. Anyyywaaayy. Its rooted. I have all in one tools and memory cleaner to optimize performance. I am usin an ics theme but i feel like im missing something. What kind of things can i do to enjoy the rootness on my mini tablet? Or could some of you guys help a noob build confidence about flashing. Idk i saw a mobile version of odin. Not sure what to think. I would love a jellybean os or something better than gingerbread.. It sucks. Lol what can i do now?
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
Well my friend, we do have our own forum, and recently we got jellybean on our devices thanks to medorval. But here is what you should do, first, get the newest version of Odin on your computer. I use 1.85 i believe, then go download and flash entropy's kernel, which is overclocked for speed and, well, tech stuff. If you need more clear steps, contact me or go to our forum. Just type in galaxy player in the search your device and it should pop up for the 4.0 and 5.0. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you can't find them, I can help.
That is only the start of what you can do.
DO NOT USE MOBILE ODIN. DO NOT. IT BRICKS OUR DEVICE.

Very helpful thank you! Im so strung out on information overloaf that some links might be even more helpful lol => with your pep talk im craving jellybean more and more. Thank god you steered me way from mobile odin!

Good looken out friend and look luck with your academics!

Haha thanks. And just a heads up so there is no frustration, you have to be on an ICS rom to update to jellybean. For some reason, you get errors while trying to do it on gingerbread. And flash jellybean through CWM.

Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) . Android version 4.0.4. It was the last official firmware that we got for our phone. If you don't know for sure, go to settings>about phone and it'll be your model number. When you bought the phone, it was most likely running Gingerbread (GB ) , 2.3.6 (or something close to that). If you're on GB, first download kies on your computer and upgrade that bad boy to ICS. If you're on ICS, wonderful! I'll link you the information you need.
Read, very, carefully!
Our phone is pretty sturdy and not easy to brick, but that doesn't mean you can't do it! If you do something outside of the instructions, you'll brick it.

Alright, this link I'm posting IS NOT the guide I want you to follow, I want you to follow the guide that chweez posted on post #186. It's the one I followed and know. I'm linking you here because chweez posted all the links you need to accomplish this in the last post of the same thread. Download all those links, then press that link in post #186, read, read, read. If you have any questions, post them in the root thread chweez posted in post #186. I repeat, do not follow the rooted kernel guide by k0nane, you want the root guide of ICS posted by member Beastmode.

Happy flashing! Any questions, ask before you do anything. It's easier to explain something before you've done something we can't undo or a process to undo. We're here to help!

Make sure and have Kies uninstalled on the computer, kies and Odin don't play well together. After uninstalling kies, plug you're phone into the computer so the drivers load, then you're good to go!
OK thanks again

If your phone isn't found or recognized, you may need to install the USB drivers for the Blaze . if the drivers are installed, you may want to try another USB port
