Hi, I rooted my S2 6 months or so ago, and haven't had any issues, but last night, I changed my font, and rebooted, ans since then it won't boot past the logo screen.
I can't remember which software i have used to flash the phone, other than I used odin, and in the PDA section the file is called CF - Root _XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM.
I have tried to restore factory settings, and also going through Odin again, but still won't work.
Any ideas??
You could try flashing your stock Rom again. Usually when I get stuck in boot loop that is always worked for me. Its nothing to worry about. Go to settings- about phone and that will tell you everything you need to regarding Rom, kernel etc

If it still shows the logo, your phone is safe. Don't send it for repair. You could fix it by yourself
Download a firmware from sammobile.com. Flash it through odin
And btw you'll get more and quicker helps if you post this thread in the sgs2 section.

So after 6 months of perfectly working NON rooted phone, I decided to root my Verizon Galaxy S3. I previously owned a Moto Droid 2 and rooted and had no problems ever. Unfortunately, within hours of a successful root, I made the mistake of downloading ROM manager (since it worked fine on my Droid 2) and tried installing the first listed AOKP custom ROM. It rebooted and did everything that was expected, until it just hung on the boot up screen for over an hour. I then decided to (for better or worse) pull the battery and just boot into recovery. Unfortunately, this brought me to a message from Verizon saying "you are doing bad things, bring your phone to Verizon" (more or less anyway). So I fixed that much by getting the factory image/reboot and installing via Odin. My problem now is it constantly keeps failing/closing android process every minute or so. I can't navigate it long enough to do anything before it fails again and takes me back to lock screen followed by home screen. When I boot to recovery, it says I have no files to restore either, but I KNOWWW for a fact I did a backup through CWM before I did ANYTHING involving any custom ROMs. PLEASE help me! Ask any and all related questions that will help you and I'll do my best to answer them.
Can you check your file system and see if your CWM folder has a backup? It should be Sdcard/CWM or extsdcard/CWM. If not, do you mind flashing another rom or that same rom?

2 questions: Which factory image did you use to restore (link to thread)? Did you change the default backup location in CWM (ie, did you backup to the external sd or the internal - internal is default)?
There is a file in both extsdcard and sdcard with clock work mod back up. I did manage to factory reset and re root, so phone is functional again, just with none of my apps or settings. I have a feeling I'm going to need to un root in order to re receive my JB update too?

Didn't unlock bootloader?
I don't know for sure. I unzipped SU plus bootloader file exactly as specified in forums/video. Had no problems until I tried installing that ROM through ROM manager. And forgive me for trying that. I hadn't rooted in over a year. But main problem now is just that I want to recover how my phone was ie settings and set up if possible.

How big are those 2 folders?
One is 4.82 gb...so I'd think there has to be a file in there.

That sounds about the right size for a backup. When you go into CWM and do the restore (or restore from external - which ever has that folder, you didn't say) it doesn't show a backup?
What version of CWM are you running?
It's version CWM6023touchvzw.tar.md5. And it's on the external. But no matter which option of restore I choose in the recovery boot, it says file not found.

Maybe after all that flashing and Odin-ing your recovery install got wanked, somehow.
Let's try this: it will re-install the latest CWM, clean and then let's see if it'll recognize your backups.
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager/
download the touch image for the d2vzw (or just click here)
put that in the root of your internal sd card.
Open up terminal emulator on your phone and type the following:
Code:
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.2.3-d2vzw.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
reboot recovery
(partition 18 is your recovery partition)
That'll push the known good CWM to your recovery partition and boot you into it. It won't mess with any sort of data anywhere else on the phone.
Alright, thanks. I'll give this a try after I get back home from work.

Update 03/28: Problem resolved with assistance from BadaB!ng developer of collective rom. Thank you for the help. Will post reference link.
Update 03/27: Problem not resolved. 4.04 system was some factory test image and everything I tried to flash or update caused the problem to repeat.
Problem resolved: tried the 4.04 image odin flashed
Model: GT-N8013
User Level: Idiot (Me)
I was playing with the pimp my rom app believing that it was a part of the Collective 5.1 rom, which is 100% my fault. Rebooting is a part of the completion of those tweaks and upon reboot, I could not get passed the samsung galaxy note 10.1 screen. I tried a restore and still stuck. I decided to odin flash back to stock and I am still stuck. I then went into recovery and did a factory wipe and reset. Still stuck. It did say that it could not mount /efs during the process [Invalid Argument]. I am in passed my knowledge base and am hoping another knows what to do.
Thank you for your time.

I have no way to confirm that, however, that is where I made the last change that required root and reboot occurred. From that reboot, I could only get to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 screen. I need to make an update...I was mistaken when I said it was fixed. The 4.04 image that I flashed worked but was not complete...no lock screen, had some factory test program on it, and anything new I flashed or updated to resulted in getting the screen stuck on Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 again. I am trying to find other images to odin flash or another instance of this issue.
Yesterday my Droid Charge running Tweaked 3.2 would not boot, it would get past the samsung logo and start the boot animation and then turn off. Booting into recovery, several things were not mounting, was not able to wipe Dalvik cahce, only regular cache.
When I try to ODIN back to stock with PIT, it always fails on movinand.bin
I used Samsung PSTLite as well with the same result, failing on movinand.bin
I have tried flashing to ED1 and EP4.
I can flash ROMS such as Tweaked that do not have movinand.bin, but the phone does not start up at all afterwards.
Download mode still works.
What can I do??

Yes, I can flash and boot into CWM, but wiping factory data does not do anything, it also shows multiple "error mounting such and such" messages

Try to re-PIT only.

What am I supposed to do after re PIT'ing? (which I have done, sucessfully)
Then flash any ROM, probably a stock one. Make sure the MD5 is good. Tell us your exact process for Odin-ing something.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
This is what I have been doing the whole time, same result.
I know my process for ODIN'ing to be correct, battery in, SD card out, PDA checked only.
Its something other than that, I've flashed return to stock many times in ODIN before...
Is there something else I can do besides simply ODIN'ing, as I've said, I've tried ODIN and PST Lite, both failing at movinand.bin
When flashing straight to for example Tweaked, it works fine, as there is no movinand.bin
At this point, it does not even show the samsung logo anymore, the screen just quickly flashes for a moment and then turns off. Download Mode is still working though. Recovery does not boot either.
Correction, CWM does boot, but none of the partitions are mountable.
Umm, The same exact thing happen to me couple of weeks ago, I got tons of error about mounting. I know I am not helping, but I gonna say my case anyway. I tried PIT (repartition) several times, didn't work! It was random! it worked one time, and I was able to flash the pit, but when I tried to flash the EP4D didn't work! I only was able to get to the home 2 times and got tons of force-closing warnings. I have insurance, so I got a replacement. I hope you are covered as well! Just wanted to share
A fail at movinand indicates a corruption at a hardware level. I've actually pulled mine out of death (had the same issue once upon a time) just by spamming PST over and over again but I seem to be the only one who had ever succeeded in that. You're probably going to have to end up getting a new device but hey, they won't be able to tell you rooted.

At this point it won't even matter. My phone broke like this and I got it switched in on the last day of warranty (luckily), and that was in August.
one last check:
have you tried using a different USB cord/USB port/different computer? I, along with many others, have experienced issues when flashing via odin with a bad cord/port (even though it had worked before). when I switched cords, it worked. but this mostly happens when the computer/ODIN fails to recognize the phone.
also, I did not remove the SD card in any of my flashings. I think once, I did remove the battery just to get the phone into download mode.
oh, and another option could be the kernel/partition/boot animation you were last on. I would recommend to try to make sure you are on RFS with stock FP5 before flashing anything.
but i suspect kvswim is probably right.
hope this helps.
ok, thanks for the help guys. I'm quite sure I dont even have a warranty on my phone, so that sucks. Might try to go into Verizon and see what happens anyway.
Do you think its worth sending it to MobileTechVideos for them to debrick, or is this outside of what they do, since it still can go into Download mode...

This is my first post and I'm not sure where to put it but I hope this is right.
I'm kinda new to flashing ROMs and was trying to flash one using safestrap on my GS3. I couldn't find one that worked and went back to my stock ROM. In the stock ROM cell service completely died and wouldn't work, to combat this problem I removed all ROMs, ROM slots, and wiped the stock ROM cache. Nothing. So then I restored to my nandroid backup I made yesterday and that deleted my OS. Now when I boot it just gets stuck at the second Samsung boot logo (there the first one that just says "Samsung" and "unlocked", then the second on says "Galaxy SIII" or something) now I have no OS and I'm not sure how to fix this, can I get some help please?
Okay, I got the stock firmware installed but I still have no service anywhere. Any ideas?

First thing I would do is make sure your imei is still present in the about phone section. If it is, move on to the next step.
I would go completely back to stock, Odin flash either the stock 4.3 or 4.4 image depending on which you were on. If you're unsure, post what it says in download mode.
If you do that and you still have no service, then go to verizon and get a new sim card. Flashing a new modem wouldn't fix this situation.

So I know there's not much support for this device anymore but I'm stuck in the water with my Galaxy S6 wondering if anybody can help here's my situation:
I have a SM-G920V on firmware OE2 as of yesterday. I have been rooted running the revolution 1.0 ROM for about year now with no problems. Yesterday I was doing some things in titanium backup and I tried to move a system app over to a user app. Well things got hairy and it ended up soft bricking my phone. I was stuck in a boot loop at the main splash screen with no way around it. I tried everything at that point that I know of. I put it into recovery mode, tried to boot in safe mode, wiped cache via recovery, did a factory reset via recovery . Still just a boot loop.
So then I came across the Stock Odin thread and I have tried OE2 f and then OC3 with the same outcome on both for . The FW flashes but when I boot up the phone and start the setup wizard I get stuck at the first step of it trying to activate the phone/ phone number . The System even becomes a bit glitchy and starts not responding at this point and will reboot randomly . This happens on both firmwares that I tried from that thread ....I can't get it past the activation. I did try a factory reset on OE2 after I Odin the tar to see if that helped but still got stuck at activation
I actually took the phone in to Verizon last night and it's sad because the customer service rep only tried about 5% of the things(5 min) that I tried before saying that the phone was "toast". All he did was go to recovery mode and tried to factory data reset ,which I had told him I tried many times and did not work. Fortunately or unfortunately enough my work replaced the phone with a brand new Galaxy S7 which I am using now. I still have the S6 though and I'm just determined not to give up yet because I don't think this phone is "toast" . If anyone can shed some light or has had the same problem and knows a fix I would love to know. I would absolutely love to be able to get this thing fixed and be able to give it to my daughter for Christmas.
Thanks in advanced!
