Hi there,
is bluetooth tethering working in CM9 on the HTC Desire S aka Saga? I'm running the CM9 alpha build of 13 June 2012.
I have a HP Touchpad aka Tenderloin, also running under CM9. I want the tablet to use the phone's 3G connection. Pairing of the two devices is fine. I also checked the option on the Tenderloin to use the paired device's internet connection... But it's not working. The tablet has no internet connection.
What do you think were the problem is, on the phone or on the tablet?
What is missing? Can a noob like me help? I'm a coder, but new to Android hacking.
Regards.

Does anybody know how to tether the SGT7 Plus to a wm6.5 phone through bluetooth?
The WifiRouter of the wm phone does not work for the Android Tab. The "wpa_supplicant" replacement in SGT7 Plus killed the wifi. It looks like the wpa_supplicant does not fit the SGT7 Plus
I heard the SGT10.1 has a function of "Bluetooth Tethering" built in. I did not find this function in the SGT7 Plus. Is it removed in the new Android Honeycomb 3.2?
I tried the PdaNet Tablet beta but that didn't work. I have HTC Incredible 2. Here is a link - http://download.cnet.com/PdaNet-Tablet-beta/3000-10440_4-75613866.html.
I tried the PDANet as well. It connected the Tab to my HTC Imagio, but there is not internet connection. It looks like the phone did not go through the data connection. my Laptopn Bluetooth tether works well though.
Hello!
I have rooted my Archos G9, to enable the ad hoc WiFi support. For different tablet with Android 3.2 there is e patch for wpa_supplicant file. My question is does it for the Archos G9 an adapted Pach, Or i can simply use one for an Android 3.2 Tablet. Or anyone knows a way to enable the adhoc WiFi support.
Thank you and best regards Peppi

So we need to root to be able to tether from a android phone via wifi?
the tablet does not see the hotspot created with Wireless Tether.

No current way to tether a G9 to a AdHoc connection
After many days of researching there is no current solution to tethering a G9 to a adhoc wifi connection be it HC or ICS. My quest has failed.
The only hope seems to be if someone can modify the archos g9 ICS version of /system/bin/wpa_supplicant (seems to be hardware dependent) file similar to what other developers have done for other devices such as the Xoom, Adam and Prime (I've already tried the wpa_supplicant files that are used with these devices, no joy). I don't think that's going to be likely due to the relatively small takeup of the G9. I've also tried solutions based on minipulating the \data\misc\wifi\wpa_supplicant.conf file as well. I'm giving up finding a solution on the G9 side of the equation and will probably un-root it back to factory default. I'm also thinking of selling off my archos g9 101 hdd turbo and buying a windows 7/8 tablet but thats another story.
I've been trying to tether my G9 to my Windows Mobile 6.5 smart phone via HTC Wifi Router. I've scoured the web, read numerous articles, tried all sorts of procedures to no avail. Its time to upgrade the phone OS with something that will operate in Infrastructure wifi AP mode. I'm going to try out the WinMo android dual boot solution posted at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938669. I'll report back my findings if anyone is interested.
I've attached the wpa_supplicant file thats in my ICS G9. Its a version 0.8 apparently.
Good luck if you are still searching.
Tethering finally working with my HTC Touch Pro 2 WinMo 6.5 Phone !
After almost giving up trying to find a solution to tethering my G9 101 HDD ICS to my WinMo 6.5 phone (only supports Adhoc mode) I decided to try out running Android on my HTC Rhodium (Touch Pro 2) using the XDAndroid (many thanks for your efforts, some beer money coming your way ) stuff over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1. Its a dual boot solution allowing me to switch back to my trusty faithful WinMo 6.5 EnergyROM. Its a doddle to setup.
I'm now able to tether my G9 to the Android version running on my phone using the built in WiFi Hot Spot function (Infrastructure Access Point in Open Mode) in Froyo. Happy happy days.
Hi!
I'm tethering my Xoom running Team EOS nightlies with my Galaxy Nexus running CM9 using bluetooth (all with the included settings).
It works, but I always loose the connection after a few minutes. I manually have to reconnect. That's pretty annoying...
Why does this happen and what can I do against that? Is there a way to make my Xoom automatically connect to my SGN when I turn on BT? Just like other devices (i.e. my BT headset) do?
Thanks
McDV
Just to get it out of the way, are you xoom and SGN close to each other? Bluetooth gets more shaky the further the devices are away from each other.
And are you running the latest EOS Nightly on your Xoom? The latest CM9 Nightly on your GNex?
I have a Sprint HTC EVO Shift that is rooted. I have a mobile hotspot app on the phone, so I can share my data plan with other devices.
I always bring it to work and use it to hook up my laptop so I can surf the net (which is what I am using right now to post this on) off of our corporate network.
This works GREAT with my laptop.
I have a Sony Xperia 10" Android (Jellybean) tablet. It works fine with my wifi at home. However, while it will connect with my phone's hotspot, it won't actually transmit any data. Can't run apps (that need to be online) or surf the net or anything.
Any ideas why it works fine on the laptop but not on the tablet? I briefly had another tablet running JellyBean (a Toshiba AT305) and it had the same problem. My old tablet, running Ice Cream Sandwich (old Toshiba Thrive) will connect and surf just fine over the mobile hotspot on the phone.
I've tried setting up the hotspot as "WEXT (ad-hoc)" as well as"Softap (master)" with the same results.
Anyone have any ideas?
Have you tried one of the roms that have the hacked native wifi tether? Try one of those. newSense, SupremeSense
MikShifted G, also has native WiFi / USB Tether.

I was just naming a couple, obviously not an exhaustive list
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.
I just installed CM 10.1.2 on My Nexus S. The phone performs way better now, but I am having troubles with Bluetooth. I can pair with my keyboard (HP Touchpad BT KB), but it doesn't seem to connect. Likewise, I can pair with my notebook (Win 8), but When I try to connect to the Internet through Bluetooth tethering, the connection doesn't work. Both these things worked on stock JB.
Any advice?
