1. To connect to PC install Kies. It comes with necessary USB drivers.
2. For flashing try MobileODIN. Search XDA
Good Luck !

Have been facing this issue for many months now. When I dont need to access the memory card, the usb connection works and when I want to access the card or connect in download mode, the connection doesnt work .
Try connecting everyday, preferably immediately after booting your pc or laptop. Also try adjusting the cable end on the phone. It might work. Sometimes it does for me.
Hi
Tried mobile odin , and flashed kpu
But still no usb connection.
And now stuck with unrootedKPU. :-(
Is there any way I can root without usb cable?Any app on market ?
edit
I tried to Flash Vurrut kernel using stock recovery. But got some error about signature verification.
How can I make unsigned version of vurrut kernel that can be accepted by stock recovery

I was, but using mobile odin, I flashed KPU. Now I can't root or flash.
Looks like my phone is going to be on UNROOTED stock forever.
Will try samsung sc next week as last option.

You should have used mobile Odin to root at the same time... If z4root may work, though I'm doubtful. Its an app on the market

thanx for your replys.
i tried z4root, gingerbreak different versions. nothing works.
i think its not possible to root with usb cable.
This mistake is gonna cost me lot if i want usb back.
i need usb only to root and flash.
rest all works with phone. even charging.but no usb connection.
i can transfer data using card reader.

Thanks i am currently looking at that but i cant connect to usb either because my phone is messed up and my laptop wont recognize it.
I can boot into the OS , like i can use the phone normally but its kind of messed up , shuts off randomly , gets stuck , makes horrible beeping noise etc etc.
So i just want this all cleared up and install a new fresh ROM
Please help
Well try to reinstall kies and all! Try to remove the sd card and inserting it to your computer trough a sd reader and put a stock rom on it, go in to fastboot (if your phone have it) then flash trough fastboot. Your phone can be saved, don't worry.

There is something really wrong with the usb settings , ive installed/uninstalled Kies several times , installed/reinstalled USB drivers several times but no luck.
I have rom manager and when i choose another rom to install it reboots the phone to get into clockwork recovery mode but instead of going to recovery my phone gets stuck on the Galaxy S start up screen
So
- No computer access (cant use odin)
- No recovery

Odin , Kies, or PC will not connect. I was rooted on stock ROM before update I deleted superuser before update. Any suggestions would help.THX
That should still be download mode

Cd's correct, you're still in download mode- that's good. USB drivers appear to be jacked. Try a different usb port or delete the Samsung ports in device manager and reconnect phone, that will reinstall the drivers.
Also, stick with flashing in odin and make sure kies isn't running in task manager. Redownload the cwm tar and reflash it.
Good luck.

I have a galaxy s2 4g i9210t. I had kies installed and Odin worked fine for all my other phones and read this phone fine when in recovery mode or normal mode, but when I boot it into download mode Odin doesn't detect it and I get an error say failed to Install Samsung USB Cdc device driver. So my first instinct was to reinstall kies, that failed so I tried just installing the drivers on their own, that also failed. I then tried it all on another computer, that failed. I've also tried 5 different cables all of which work for my other phones. Can anyone help?

First you have to manage to install drivers...
Until you can not install drivers successfully it will not detect your device..
Are you using window 7?
Because it automatically detects and installs drivers.
we all should be polite enough to press thanks for anyone who helped US.

As in just right click properties compatibility?
Sent from my GT-I9210T using xda premium
No go on compatibility mode. I don't think it's a problem with Odin reading it I think it's a problem with windows installing the drivers as I get the failed to installs driver error every time.

You need to get your phones USB system drivers installed or it is not going to find your phone no matter how many cables you use. You need to get the drivers that are there off and get a good clean install done. Find the right drivers "Samsung" windows for your flavor OS and install them on the computer. It should work fine then.

Well it's stock at the moment so I'm using kies for the drivers or the driver pack. But I'm trying more clean installs now.

reinstall drivers and check that when u plug it in, the pc is seeing the nexus go to device manager and see if its recognized mand doesnt have an exclamation sign, if there is one, while plugged in, reinstall the drivers
to learn how to install drivers and getting the correct files: http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
or try to flash stock via fastboot (maybe u will need to reinstall the drives, just check if its recognized under device manager):

Well I hope when u say "it doesn't do anything" that u weren't expecting something to pop up on the screen. If it mounts u can only tell by clicking.... My computer then drive "___" its probably drive f or g.
If it pops up then ur good. Add the ROM & gapps.
But worse case do what the previous post suggests.
Good luck
