MHL will not work with our Galaxy R because i've read some where that even our Galaxy R is capable of this Samsung has restricted it in the S/W level (Because they want to differentiate ours with Galaxy S II), if we want this we need to dig that and enable it in the OS level it self ..

Not at all. MHL is one of features that don't work on AOSP roms, and I am talking about S2 that has this option enabled by default.

That is not entirely true buddy.
I'm yet to see a Tegra 2 handset which has MHL enabled through the Micro-USB Port.
They have always used a dedicated HDMI port to allow users to view media on large LCD / LED screens.
E.G. LG O2X, Samsung Captivate Glide, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Atrix, Motorola Photon 4G.
Hope this helps !
Has anyone tried if MHL it is working now with ICS?

It was a not Samsung original MHL adaptor.
Something like that:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1080P-USB..._MobilePhoneDataCables_JN&hash=item460805c098
It is connected to the phone by microusb and to the tv by hdmi. It needs to be powered by usb or microusb power adaptor.

HDMI Cable doesnt work ???
Micro USB to HDMI cable??
Hi guys,
Thanks for this thread, I read it but still have no answered of the question - Can I use MHL cable / micro USB to HDMI or micro USB to VGA for my Galaxy R. Is there any way to provide video signal and if yes - what should I do?
I'm searching for cables ->
This one -> MHL to HDMI Cable Adapter USB MICRO For Samsung i9100 i9103 i9220 N7000 i9250 (type it in ebay search)
The seller says that this cable supports i9103, but maybe he just wants to sell his stuff. Is it possible?
What is your opinion, has anyone successfully provided video signal?
Thanks in advance, guys
PS: According to wikipedia, our phone has MHL technology avaliable: en.wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Mobile_High-definition_Link
en.wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_R :
A recent kernel for ICS (developed by a xda developer) also enabled the mobile to support HDMI output support via micro USB to MHL cable.

Compatible with MHL adapter?
Officially: No. Samsung says i9103 can not do mhl.
I have tried it with a original samsung mhl adapter for the S II.
I did not get a signal.
But..... tegra 2 supports mhl.
So, do we support it in hardware but they did not activate it in software?
Can the devs activate it with a custom rom or kernel?
Has to be checked out.
so it is confirm SGR does not suuport MHL and there is no way to connect this phone to LCD TV via HDMI at all?

Does this Tab has HDMI support via the adapter?
I tried with my adapter from the Tab 7 plus but nothing i showing up on the screen.
I could not find any mention of HDMI support in the Samsung official product page.
Samsung Galaxy Tab HDTV Adapter EPL-3PHPBEG

I don't think the tab 2 has tv-out capabilities. I thought it did, but phonearena doesn't have them listed http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Samsung-GALAXY-Tab-2-7.0_id6929

Yes this is the one and it doesn't work.
I don't think Samsung enabled this feature to save on costs.
Well DLNA/AllShare works great with my BR and the TV both but I was hoping that HDMI would work too.
Just off chat with Samsung support:
"Yes, the tab will support the HDMI connection using the HDTV adapter, however; I'm sorry to inform you that there are no accessories available for the tab as of now but it will be available and updated soon."
Moved to Q&A section....place all questions in the proper sections.
Thanks
I have that same HDMI adapter and can confirm that it does definitely NOT WORK.
hdmi & manual
I bought the hdmi adapter yesterday and also found it did not work. However in the Samsung manual it says: "Supports HDMI/MHL connections to connect electronic devices to high-definition televisions (HDTVs) and displays".
So, I am not sure if they plan a new adapter and I should return this one of if it will be some sort of software patch to allow it to function...
Anyway, for those interested, here is the Samsung the tab 2 7.0 user manual.
downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201204/20120427002407751/Generic_Wi-Fi_GT-P3113_Galaxy_Tab_2_English_User_Manual_LD3_F3.pdf

* New info from Samsung Support...
Just received the call and they have been testing the Tab2 7.0 in the support dept. (no one else must know the answer) and I have been officially told that the current 30 pin hdmi adapter "Does Not Work with this tablet"! They have no idea if a new adapter will surface or when.
This is not on sale in Canada yet, but I one site has it listed for pre-order and lists it does have hdmi support but via an adapter.
So either it's wrong or samsung changed the adapter to be used. I really wish they'd just put in a micro-hdmi port instead of adapters. But I'd like to hear/confirm that at least an adapter will work.
The tab 2 10.1 does work with the original hdmi adapter. I tested it today.

Does anyone know if the HDMI adapter (official) works in the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0? or maybe you can give a link of one adapter that works...
Sorry for my english, im from Honduras.
It would be great if TV out worked on the tab 2 7.0inch. When I bought it I thought that it had those capabilities, but I am unsure if it does. If anyone gets it working let us know.
I don't think it works. Not for now. Tested it before and no luck.

Same here: bought it, it won't work and even worse, it unmounts my micro sd card to be able to potentially mount a sd card.
They really totally ****ed up on that one... it's not even written on the adapter box. It plugs in like it were compatible, but it just won't work.

The funny thing is that Samsung put a note in the Galaxy Tab 2 to bring their accessories under the buyers attention.
On that note is the HDMI adapter.
Strange people, those at Samsung.
I bet the tab 2 7inch is like the galaxy s3, it needs the new hdmi adapter thats coming out.
no
the answer is no
I didn't purchase a mhl cable yet so I don't know what kind of quality this phone displays. Anybody have one and care to do a little feedback on it.

I don't believe the Blaze 4g supports MHL.

Taken from the PC mag review of our phone. I cannot link as i do not have enough posts.

Traditionally it just mirrors the phone resolution. Thats what my Droid 4 does, so it looks ugly outside of webtop. Unfortunately i don't believe this is an option for our phone.

Is there any way that I can "activate" the MHL feature in Galaxy Blaze 4G?? I really want to have this MHL feature.. just wondering whether it's missing in the hardware design of Blaze 4G or it was just "disabled" at the software level... as the Blaze and Galaxy S II hardware/spec wise are just so similar... thanks!

Hi,
I recently purchased the Samsung EPL-3FHU MHL adapter for my SGS3. I can't get it to work at all. I know that older AOSP ROMs didn't support MHL (like CM 7), but surely they do by now? I have the right adapter, the 11 pin one. Hell I even have an old one with a 5-to-11 pin adapter.
Is it because of the ROM, kernel, or because I don't have a charger connected to it?
Side question to whomever knows the answer to OP's question: does a standard MHL adapter work with CM10 or does the S3 hardware require the Samsung adapter?

A standard one does work if you have a 5-pin-to-11-pin converter I think, but I got that from Samsung.

As far as I'm aware, CM10 does not support MHL, only Samsung based ROMs work.
you def need the charger connected... unless your plugging it into a mhl suppported hdmi port on a tv which basically means you own one of 5 tv's that support it.
I am using ParanoidAndroid and the MHL connectivity works to an extent. What i mean is u can see the phone, browse, but video playback is glitchy. The video flickers and there is lag. Same is the problem with high graphic games. This has been bothering me for a while now. I wanted to use S3 as a game console with PS3 and SixAxis with GameKlip.
Works for me
This works for me just fine. I have the official mhl connector with the extension bit on the end. I am running CM10. The power thing got me at first.. Make sure you have it plugged in

I am running Liquidsmooth based on CM10.0 on Skyrocket and my phone DOES NOT run MHL. I bought a new TV to enjoy the feature which apparently is not there.
I Had Simliar Problem
I recently bought a generic mhl adapter off amazon for my Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket, sadly it did not work.
Phone:
Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket
CM 10 (JB4.1.2)
Kernel that came with it
After browsing XDA I found a post that helped...

Basically you need to add "ro.hdmi.enable=true" to your build prop. I used a build prop editor off the play store to do this.
It worked after this. Hope this works for you too. Good Luck.

Actually, the Relay needs an S2 MHL adaptor. The S3 ones do not work. Currently MHL is the one sticking point that we custom image developers are still trying to puzzle out for this phone. Work is progressing, but we have little exciting to show from it yet.
