Wallpaper on tf300t - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well i am trying to use a picture as wallpaper but only let me use part of the picture as wallpaper (crop)
Any one knows how to use a full picture!?

The dimensions of the image have to be 1920x1408, and even then it'll get cropped vertically a little bit.

It's actually 1920x1280 in ICS.
What I do is just get a 1280x800 wallpaper and increase the canvas size to 1920*1280 with Photoshop and disable wallpaper scrolling & rotation in my launcher. That way nothing gets cropped at all.

Nope. It's 1920x1408. Trust me. I searched long and hard. And if you find a wallpaper site with Android tablet wallpapers for 1280x800 screens, its real dimensions are 1920x1408.
Seriously, get a wallpaper in 1920x1408, and you'll see that you'll crop it a lot less.

Ok thanks guys

hm really? I thought since when you go to the wallpaper crop in ICS theres no bars above and below the portrait view that it would be 1280. Guess I'll give it a shot.

Don't forget that the wallpaper has to scroll in both landscape and portrait mode. It requires a lot of extra wallpaper real estate.

[Q] Optimum Wallpaper Resolution for Galaxy Tab?

Wondering what resolution wallpaper should work best on Galaxy Tab? the native display resolution is 1024x600. If one scrolls 5 to 7 screens left or right a 1280x1024 wallpaper should work fine. Anyone toyed with resolution on wallpapers?
Rule of thumb with Android wallpapers is to use 2X the horizontal resolution and 1X the vertical resolution for the best results in portrait mode. In the case of the Tab that would be 1200x1024.

The wallpapers that come with the Tab feature 1200 (width) x 1024 (height) resolution.
what is the best resolution in landscape where I can see the ENTIRE photo. I've been fooling with it for months and can't seem to get it right.

Do a search on gtabwallpaper this will help you to set the wallpaper correctly and where you can see the entire photo
I found a Better way.. i just use multipicturelive wallpaper
lets all fly with ICARUS on my tab
Use 1920 x 1200 - taken from default_wallpaper.jpg out of framwork-res. After trying a few different things including wallpaper wizardrii and wallpaper slideshow i am now using this rez. No probs at all, just the right size.
go to market. find the app called "wallpaper maker". make sure your rez is 1024x600. load your wallpaper in wallpaper maker and move it to the top of the square. it will make it fit landscape.perfectly. Been using it for a while now. No issues.

Thanks work very good.
For some of my wallpapers I just have to set the pic not to scroll with the home screens
1024 x 600 Works best on Samsung Galx Tab 2.3.3
For me, Tried couple of days and 1024 x 600 works Best for Original Samsung Galaxy Tab with 2.3.3

Look for an app called gTabWallpaper on the market, or other places. Its free, and it has worked best for me. Even if your desired wallpaper is not an exact fit, it seems to find the best way to apply it with minimal distortion.

HD Transformer Wallpaper Pack #2

Edit: Rewrite
I'll be re uploading a whole new wallpaper pack with the correct resolutions tomorrow. For now here's what you can do.
Download HD Wallpaper Pack 2
Unzip to your download folder,
Go to market and download "Wallpaper Wizardrii"
Install and reboot
When it comes back up all of the wallpapers should now be visible in the gallery. Choose the picture you want and click on the share button in the top right. Wallpaper Wizardrii should now be a choice. Select it.
From there just click on set and set it to scrolling and it'll adjust the images in the wallpaper pack above accordingly.
These wallpapers look blurry. U should post wallpapers with 1020x800 cus that's the native res of our screen

Honeycomb wallpaper app?

I use wallpaper Casa, and sometimes HD wallpapers to set wallpapers on my cappy, but those walls seem really washed out and grainy on the transformer. Ne1 know of any honeycomb compatible wall paper app yet?

I noticed that the stock wallpaper is VERY CRISP...and most of my efforts and finding wallpaper that looks as good has been unsuccessful.
Also guys other than the extra walls pack posted earlier,I never found anything else related to tf walls

You should use the suggested above or 2560 x 1600. It works well. try picturecasa app, it's not that bad but the website version has more links.

I've been using 2560 images and none are as crisp as the stock "tree" wallpaper...
AFAIK, Honeycomb uses 1920x1280 images. The extra width is so it has enough room to shift the image when you change screens, and the height so that there's room to zoom the image out when you open the app folder, or widget srceen or whatever.
even when i use the suggested wallpaper dimensions none of the wallpapers ever look as good on the homescreen as they do on the browser... which makes no sense.
get the "wallpaper wizzardi" app. Its a bit buggy but it will take ANY image size, res, etc and make it look amazing on the TF.
Sometimes it gets black bars on the screen but all you do is switch it to landscape/horizontal and it will go back. Its really nice. Still buggy but nice.
i use wallpaper set and save with very large images that i find at wallbase.cc (at least 2560 x 1600) and i've got pretty crisp background images.
I use Flikie Wallpaper app, it auto sizes them for me and you get to pick from a bunch online, its worth it, great app
Guys check out this new app. Tablet wallpapers. Seems 2 b specifically for honeycomb.

I'm trying to find the perfect dimensions to use so that Honeycomb's crop box will fill the entire picture, and none of the suggested sizes have worked. Interesting...

Wallpaper cropping in JB 4.1.1

I have a question, now that the wallpaper isn't scrollable like in ICS, how are you suppose to crop a picture to use as a wallpaper? Just like the old one, or you could crop the picture that will fit the entire home screen? And can someone post a screenshot on how do you crop a picture to be used as a wallpaper? Thanks in advance!

That's what i wanted to know. Because on ICS, you can't use a 960x540p picture because of the wallpaper scrolling. Is it possible now with JB?

Well, you could always try until you find the right size. Not exactly hard nor very time consuming.

Sir, could you attach a screenshot where you crop a picture to be used as a wallpaper? I mean, does it always have to be 960x540 so that it will perfectly fit the entire homescreen without missing a single portion of the picture?

For the love of god, hiw do you set a decent wallpaper

I've never seen a dumber way of setting a friggin wallpaper in my life. They make you crop 75% of the picture out. I want something that is a once and done setting, not a stupid app that has to run in the background like I've seen other times.

This obviously depends on the dimensions of the picture you feed it, and is not the fault of the device. If you want the sharpest image possible, edit your picture to 1920x1408 -- those are the dimensions ASUS is using itself on the stock wallpaper(s). I haven't tested the thickness of the launcher bar, but that shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Oh, and err.... what's so bad about a small app running in the background anyway?

When using Nova launcher, you have this option to use 'Nova crop' to set wallpapers. This allows you to set the entire picture instead of only a small part of it.
Ideal for those HD pictures (that due to the zoom wouldn't look HD otherwise)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808045
It has to do with the aspect ratio of 1920 x 1200 both in portrait/landscape modes. In order to accommodate both screen orientations with the wallpaper, it has to be cropped that way and you end up only getting the middle of the image really. So choosing a picture that is sort of zoomed out on the middle target gives the best results as a wallpaper.
