Rasing and lowering your phones hardware Gigahertz. - HTC Sensation

Why when I flash a faux kernel no matter what version it is the Gigahertz always stay the same but when.I flash a bricked kernel no matter what version it goes up to 1.566 times 2.why doesn't the faux kernels ever raise the phones Gigahertz.I only had the Gigahertz go down 1 time with a faux kernel and that when I used the no frills,no thrills overclocking app.and I clocked it to 1.566 and it was killing my battery so I flashed faux kernel v005 and it took it down to 1.5.I couldn't declock it with the app became I found out that the app sucks and it stayed stuck at 1.566 which is 1.6.If anyone has ever experienced a similiar problem or know why these different problems occurred would you please let me know.and I have searched the internet before posting this. Thanks in advance.

Im absolutely not an expert so sry if my question seems a little stupid but are you flashing a working kernel for your phone??
Whats the name of the rom your running and whats your firmware?
Im running SmartDroids Beserk Rom with Brickeds Kernel and my Sensation XE is running like crazy... with normal batterylife...
clocked it for 584 mhz (min) and 1866 (Max) as std
Hope you´ll get you phone running soon...

Need some troubleshooting help with nexus s 4g

can someone help me out, i have 3 nexus s 4gs each on different roms but some of the same problems.
first, my phone (nscollab+franco kernel) and my wife's phone (Matr1x rom + kernel) will sometime shut down, and the power button wont work, i have to pull the battery to get it to work again
second, this is rare but every now and again the phones reboot and play the boot animation in inverted colors not sure why.
but is there something im missing, new radio, spl? or are my settings for the kernels not right, any help would be appreciated.
Does this happen on Matr1x v11.5?

Hey mathkid. No I tried to dl that version but flashing was failing, has the link been fixed? I would like to get new version on my phone as well, also could you recommended settings for nstool for me, like voltages, CPU government, ext.
Oh man I just looked and you closed the rom thread so you mean the kernel and no I'm running franco and my wife has the old matr1x rom so. what do you suggest I flash
Try Matr1x v11.5 cfs and start off w/ 1000/100 ondemand w/ no deep idle
if that runs well we can adjust further
K will try, I'll report back

Help with overclocking - not the same as my old G2

I'm trying to understand my sensation, it's not the same as my G2 as far as overclocking goes and I'd like to understand why. I have full root and currently have Elegancia 1.4 up and running. With the G2, once I was rooted I could overclock up to 1.5 from the stock 800, but when I try to use setcpu with the sensation it only gives me an underclock option, the highest setting it lets me go to is 1.18
Am I doing something wrong, did I not do something I should have, or am I just stupid? I know benchmark scores don't mean much, but when I can get a higher quadrant score using my old G2 it makes me a little sad that I spent money on the sensation
you need to flash an overclock kernel like the one from faux123

Exactly, or you can also use Bricked Kernel by show-p 1984
Thanks for the quick answers. So if I've read right to change my kernel I just download it to the sd card and flash through recovery? I've tried to understand the differences between the kernels but I still don't really get it, what makes faux different/better/worse than bricked?
idk te differences really... i switch between them but you just boot into recovery and flash just like u would a rom
OK, since this was moved to the "question" section I'll ask a straight up question, what makes the kernels different from each other? I've searched and still didn't find any type of "kernal comparison".

Your OC Settings?

Using QuikWiz with whatever kernel is included with that ROM (Da_G's, IIRC), I pretty much can't OC at all. I'm stuck at the default 1566MHz, the closest bump up at 1728 is too high and my phone crashes. I just flashed TPCv3 which also uses Da_G's kernel and came to the same result - can't OC past 1566MHz.
Firstly, is there anything I can do to make my phone stable at 1728MHz? What do you guys have your phones set to?
Quadrant/AnTuTu screenshots welcome.

Stock ROM here.. run 1728/1782 all the time.. no issues.. Don't have any screenshots, but get 3900+ quadrant, 6700+ Antu and 7800 CFbench. No sod's.. get 24+battery life .. its lovely.

SebastianFM or Faux123 kernal?!

Well I'm a little confused with these kernels, I have tried using both kernels with ARHD and the only one that seems to work correctly is the SebastianFM. The fuax123 kernel just keeps my phones CPU cores both at 1.51ghz, without any intelidemand governors, also, regarding RAM management, which one is the best between the two?
If anyone understands why the fuax123 kernel is acting weird, please clarify cause I'm stumpted,
Thanks a lot!
They are both great kernels I used bricked kernel myself but used to use Sebastian kernel for a long time just try them both for a week see what you like the best

faux shouldn't be forcing both cores online, especially with his newer intellidemand tweaks. You can read his explanation on his thread. Which version of faux are you using? There was also a problem reported by some ARHD users that faux came with ondemand by default when they flashed the ROM. Reflashing the kernel should correct that.
I've used both kernels and both are fine for me, although different phones seem to prefer different kernels. It also depends on your usage pattern. As mike1986. himself says, if you're happy with your kernel, then don't change it.

Im actually having that very same problem of my governor being on "ondemand", how shall I reinstall the kernal, do I download faux's kernal from his forum or reinstalls ARHD and install the kernel given their during the installation process.
Thanks!

You can download the kernel from faux thread...and can flash it just like flashing Rom/any mod.....flashing kernel via Rom will give you the same results again....
Also if you just want to change the govener you can install system tuner to change it to intellidemand governer and apply the changes in system tuner to keep it for every reboot

Thanks for your fast reply!
I'll reinstall that kernal,
I don't want to install system tuner and need to have it always running in the background for the cpu to be in intellidemand, that's why I want the kernel to do it automatically,
but ill try and flash the kernal again,
thank you!
try bricked kernel

Bricked Rocks , u should give it a try show-p kernel wid new badass governer
I tryed each kernel, and i had a problem with the first flashing of each one, dunno why!
i had to reflash always twice time, and at the second time everything were good.
i'm now holding Faux kernel, i think is awsome, let have a look at my attachments to see my battery usage with intellidemand..
bricked one is good too, as all the other users told u...TRY'EM ALL!
Lollaz
I have used Sebastian kernel for weeks. Tried also faux. I had my best experience with bricked on ARHD 6.6.3.

Best for sense 3.6 is Faux kernel
Well I've now tried Faux123 for a few days and my battery life has been drained, right now, at day 3 of having faux, I'm at 46% battery with 9 hours and 33 minutes of usage, though with SebastianFM I got like one and a half days, solid, If I was bothered I'd upload a picture showing my phone lasting for 1 day and a few hours with Sebastian. Dunno why but battery life/smooth phone really contradicts itself :/
What's a bricked kernel? I've always been hearing about it but don't entirely understand what it is, sorry but I'm kind of new to this whole kernel thing

Better battery life with a kernel

Im running Mike's version of Ics 4.0 with sense 3.6.I used a market app to overclock my CPU processor from 1.2 Ghz to 1.566 GHz and its been killing my battery like crazy so I tried to down clock it but its wont so I uninstalled the app called no-frills and I thought for sure my procestor would go back to factiy @ [email protected] GHz bug it didn't its still struck at 1.566 GHz.so I flashed the Rom and reinstalled it and its still struck at 1.566 GHz.so I was wondering if I installed a faux kernel it that would help with.battery drainage.I have to completely charge my sensation twice aday.I would you really like some help.

Wrong area to post.
I suggest not overclocking it, give it a few charge cycles and it should be fine
its a wrong thread mate
post in a q&a section or general section as u will get ur answer there
but i suggest u to try changing the kernel or underclocking your device
Don't forget to press thanks
