Because its a port and the new sense 4 ville c2 base isnt compatible with the HQ camera mod yet because no one has ported it over yet

do you know of any third party apps or solution? and it is really a big difference?

To be perfectly honest I dont know why everyone raves on and on about phone camera quality. Compared to a dedicated camera phone cameras are complete rubbish and my view of it is if you want decent looking pics, use a dedicated camera so no I dont really know what the difference is or any 3rd party apps

Actually on the new Ville c2 base for sense 4 Roms there isn't much difference in quality anymore in terms of photos. On the original Sense 4 base for the Sensation, the One S port, photos would appear pixelated and grainy on our Sensation(outdoor bright light shots where normally that wouldn't be an issue), but that isn't the case anymore.
You can still mod your Sense 4 media_profiles.xml file to not compress photos.
For video I use lgcamera from the market. It has selectable bitrates for all video modes, and offers true aac recording at 44khz.

You can try lgCamera as mentioned or Camera ICS to see if the quality gets better.

i recently switched to sense 4.0 based rom and the camera quality is the same as before...i havent really seen any major difference in the uncompressed version of the photos and normal compressed versions..

Porting HTC One Sense 5 camera and gallery features to the one s

I was wondering if any developer could port the sense 5 camera and gallery features such as zoe to the htc one s, if not the complete sense 5 interface? Would that be very difficult? I mean like a flashable zip file for the camera and gallery application from sense 5 like we have the 4.2 aosp jellybean camera. I really love the sense 5 gallery and added software features to the camera.
Cheers.

I just want someone to port the whole ROM. But I do know that other Sense 5 ROMs for other phones cannot get the Zoes to work yet. So it going to be a long while till that is fixed. (if at all)
i think devs are waiting for htc to release the update for sense 5 for the hox/hos devices itself.
porting it is to much work i think , with a base is easier.
i would like to get the gallery features on my xperia z!! but haven't found a solution yet

[Q] CM11 - kitkat 4.4.2 Camera

Hey,
ive been running cyanogenmod 11 nightlies and its been a good experience so far, fast and hardly any bugs. the only problem i have is the stock camera. its not even close to the quality of sense roms. it has trouble focusing and the quality is just subpar. Is there any fixes or mods to help improve quality or is it just one of the drawbacks of running stock android?

I understand that sense camera can't be used on aosp ROMs, but is there any way to improve the camera quality of aosp ROMs, such as cm11?
Well from what I noticed, the image does not look sharp in the camera app, but after I went into gallery and zoomed in, it loads and looks a lot better. I'm not really disappointed with it.

Snap Camera HDR is built from the same 4.4 source, but has many enhancements and performance improvements. It's significantly faster and has a better burst mode. Worth the $2, and you can even install a trial version.

I would also say to go with a paid camera app. I've heard good things about procapture but too cheap to buy it myself yet. Currently I'm use Camera MX. I installed it while I was still running sense and I had the opportunity to compare the two head to head. I'd say the sense one was definitely better but only ever so slightly. Certainly now that I compare Camera MX to the stock one on 4.4, it is like night and day. Camera MX is waaay better.
Finally, I should mention that some camera app makers are starting to tune their apps to the flagship phones (eg. HTC One, S4). That doesn't really help us, but it's something to consider when making your next purchase. Things like the camera really need to be tuned to the hardware to get the best performance.

Thanks for the suggestion, ill definitely give camera mx a try,
Hi,
I run on CM11 and I think the stock CM11 cam is ok.
But I have a problem when the cam needs the flashight in dark environments. The Cam doesn't use the flashlight to focus the image. Only when the image is being recorded, the flashlight is used. That's why I have bad, fuzzy results if the pictures were taken in the dark.
I have also tried another camera apps like the Camera MX but there is the same problem.
Are there others who have the same problem or can it be solved by the settings?
THX
Camera is getting better on 4.4.
No HDR, but decent.
Bad in 4.4 si sound. No Beats Audio...
Camera is not the same in 4.4.2 roms. Some have more options, some ar thin in facilities.
just switched to cm11 from an older sense rom. Big feature I'm missing in the camera is the ability to take pictures while recording. This feature is supposed to be included on the camera now, but I can't seem to figure out how to make it work. Am I missing something?
I have the latest version 2.2.024.
Camera on 4.4.4 Deviant Xone is Good.
I think its about the same like sense camera.
Thank you, $droyd$
I use the app camera zoom fx, because I don't like the Cm camera app.
Camera zoom fx is much better.
Hi,
i`m current using 4.4.4 since update on 4.4.2 the camera can not zoom. I can zoom on the screen but the picture isnĀ“t zoomed.
That ist with both apps (cm11 app and google camera).
Is there any solution?
Mine works.
I guess it's from youre rom.
Now i use MIUI Germany 4.3.2.8 Android 4.1.1
Camera have HD option. Foto not so good.
Picture is way better with Deviant Xone camera.
I have tried the software with HD camera, or "professional HD camera". Description is fantastic.
Soft, NO!

4k recording on Lollipop

Hey all, I haven't heard much about camera specs in all the excitement about Lollipop and now PA on the G3, I am on CM12 now and loving it but I miss having 4k recording on the camera... Any way to bring this back? Maybe a camera app port? [emoji1]
That is the only reason I went back to a stock based ROM. Love my camera.
I know this is something we can do... We have some great developers here... WINK WINK!... That is the only only thing it is missing. I'm going to try some build.prop edits to see if it will work, but I doubt it.

Agreed, CloudyG3 is great. It's my go to ROM unless I'm on CM12, I had to flash back today because I'm having WiFi issues on CM.
Aosp ROMs always have bad cameras they use googles **** camera

I have had many phones...Nexus, Touchwiz, Sense, and now the G3...it cannot be done.
But the ability to record 4k is in the hardware, right? If it were strictly a software up conversion then yes it would be an issue, but if it is native to the camera hardware it seems like the camera app would just need to have the support for that feature of the sensor...
I sorta think its silly to record in 4k without even having a 4k TV to play it against. I honestly can't justify it, so I'll stick with the pros of having cm12 instead. Fwiw the Google camera isn't all that bad really. If I need pro photos, that's what my Sony nex is for.

But we do all own a phone that plays 4k... And if you down sample to 1080p it retains a lot of sharpness and clarity not possible from strait 1080p recording.

This is the thing right here. I want to be able to record in 4k so that I can downsample/crop/frame a 1080p edit of that footage with amazing clarity and control.
I desperately want to be able to do this on AOSP on the G3, but the going, thus far, is slow.
Recently YouTube brought back 4k playback. Check out the GoPro channel. Sweet stuff. They need an LG G3 channel...
I don't think the quality in stock vs Google camera can ever be matched sadly.

Stock camera is ages ahead of the CM Camera (Googles), there is just no comparison, once you look at the photos on a big screen you notice the lower quality on the Google camera photos., also with CM you will loose:
Laser Focus, 4K video recording and Slow Motion
If your recording in 4k only to convert to 1080 because it looks better it's because your editing software isn't doing it's job. I've tried it both ways and get the same results. And yes unless you're filming for a professional job that will use cinema standards or own a 4k TV recording in 4k just takes up too much space for no reason. I also recommend waiting quite a few years before attempting to get a useless UHD TV.

[Q] [REQUEST FOR DEVS] Porting HDR+ on OnePlus ONE

Hi guys, don't know if it's possible, is there any dev that could port HDR+ function of Nexus 6 (which has the same camera, with the addition of OIS) on our OPO???
There are many excellent camera for our device but i think that this could be a great added value for our device.

Only CM can do this because it requires updated lib files

HDR+ depends on full support of the new Android camera HAL (source). It is theoretically possible that we could have our own non-Google Camera version of HDR+ since our camera app apparently has direct control over shutter speed and ISO, but it would have to be written by Cyanogen from scratch since the Camera Next app is closed source. I think we have a better shot at getting full Camera2 support in the coming year than we do getting a custom version of HDR+.

Yeah, i've read that. Also Clear Image is a sort of HDR+ but results aren't as good as the original (they work in slight different way), in the original post i meant the porting of the whole official feature of Nexus 6 ( i don't know what have to be ported, maybe camera driver) to work with OPO. I also think that you're right, opo shot performances will be better with cm12s (they have rewritten camera driver to have camera2 support already in the first release, i read it on reddit...)

AOSP vs SENSE photo quality
