Otter Box Bad plastic? - HTC One S

Does anyone else have an otter box with weird looking plastic? I mean it makes the screen look pretty bad, its very annoying because it honestley looks 10x better with out it. I just got the phone so im scared to break it so i dont want to be with out a case. Do you think it would be silly to simply remove the plastic off the front of the otter box? Also what do you guys recomend for the best case on this phone?

My Otterbox is great. I took it on and off a couple of times and it holds. Haven't tried the screen protector though, I'm happy with the Phantomskinz. The other that I like is my Rock hardcase / HTC hardcase.
Verstuurd van mijn HTC One S met Tapatalk

i'm going to do the same thing. Remove the built in screen protector on mu defender series case, and use another screen protector. that way I can have the protection from the otterbox and have a clear screen.

I have a ballistic sg case. I like it I posted a review with some pics in the accessories page. Should be on the first page

HTC One S Otterbox Defender case

Wow these new otterbox cases are way better then the old ones. The plastic isnt flimsy anymore and it fits it perfectly on the One S. I've spoken on it and used speaker phone and it doesn't make it harder to hear or be heard. A deff good buy and on amazon or ebay its only $35
I was wondering if anyone has seen any accessories that can fit to the otterbox defender case? Before I had my HTC HD2 and I had a car mount that fits the otterbox case perfectly.
I'm getting mine tomorrow. Does it come with a screen protector? Cause I like my InvisibleShield HD screen protector and want to keep using it.

I prefer my Skinomi TechSkin because it is the same thing but cheaper. I've used the Zagg products before, but wasn't impressed enough to get a replacement when my keys stretched it in my pocket and ruined it. I do love my TechSkin, however.
Got my defender today..Not that impressed with the built in screen protector. It seems to bubble and give you a tactical feel to it.
otterbox defender vs commuter
I'm thinking about buying this case but im not to sure.
For you guys that already have it i've got some questions.
This is for the defender:
How much weight does it add?
Since it has a screen protector I don't need to keep my old one on do i?
Does it have a non belt clip piece? (flat back)
For the commuter:
Sounds like this one doesn't fit correctly any feed back?
^^ No, OB Commuter Case fits well. Had one on my One S for a few weeks and been happy with it.
Just got mine today. First impression is great product. Will post in a few days after some real world usage.

I am using the Commuter, and I love it. Feels great in your hands, not bulky, and looks great. Highly recommended.

I just got my Otterbox Defender case and I absolutely love it. Its a little bulky but I take my phone with me on my bicycle and this case really has the protection I need in case I drop it from the bike.
I like my Otterbox defender very much. Makes the phone a bit bulky but protection should be good. The only thing I recommend is to throw away the built in screen protector as it makes the readability of the screen really bad. I replaced it with a normal clear screen protector and now I am satisfied.

Thats what i was thinking about in case that screen protector sucked. I think i might go with it and if it sucks, just remove it and use a zagg or something like it!
need to buy one of those :good:
I don't notice any problems with the built-in screen protector. It works well and does't obscure anything on the screen, as far as I can tell.

I have both the commuter and the defender if you want good rugged protection defender is the way to go and like it the best the commuter is a great snug case kinda low profile and give good protection
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
I've got both now too, I ordered the Defender and they sent a Commuter by mistake, said keep it and we'll refund since we don't have the right one. Just got the Defender from another seller.
Build quality on both is really excellent, it took me a couple of minutes to work out how to get the Defender apart to get the phone in, it's that well put together.
The screen protectors on both leave a lot to be desired though, the one on the Commuter is good but leaves the top of the glass bare, the one built in to the Defender is just awful, it works fine but makes the screen very grainy.
My phones are subject to lots of bumps and knocks at work and good all round protection, especially for the screen when not in use, is important. The Defender with the addition of a decent screen protector fits the bill perfectly.
I got Commuter for mine, quite happy with it, but have to agree with the screen protector tho just doesn't cover all the screen so I left it off but in the 3 months I've had this case I've put it through a beating with no damage to my phone

otterbox defender vs commuter
i would go with the defender because what i see on the website it has a belt clip which the commuter doesn't have
Bit annoyed today, the retaining clip on my Otterbox holster snapped off while I was taking the phone out of it.
I'll get a chance to see how good Otterbox after sales service is.

Want to buy a screenguard and a case for Motorola Atrix 2 within India

Am thinking of getting a scratchguard and a case for my Atrix2[within India]
I saw these in flipkart

if there are any which is better than those do let me know where to get them from.
Thanks in advance
Ive tried the amzer screenguard on my A2, but soon after its got all the scratches and i felt the beautiful screen was being spoiled by it.. so soon after removed it. I am too searching for a better screenguard, found the xtremeguard a very good solution, you have to get it shipped from US though. As far as the case is concerned look no further than the amzer shellster, ita basically combo of shellcase and holster.. even if you dont need/ like the holster the shellcase itself is very good and its barely there type.. personally i like the holster as well, i use it more when at work, because it doubles as a kickstand..
If you cant find it on amzer.co.in then you will find it on fommy.co.in for 850 rs..
And btw dont go for the cheap amzer silicone gel case on flipkart, ive tried it as well and its a mess.. i have tried the crystal clear case which wasnt good, then got the capdase leather sleeve which was good but i found it hard to take out the mobile specially when you are on a bike.. the holstee is perfect answer for that too

if so, you mean that just the back cover is enuf for it cos i don't want that belt holder thingy(which i assume covers the front side of the mobile) . Have you used this case?
for xtremeguard, http://www.ebay.in/itm/Motorola-ATR...rotector-Ultra-CLEAR-XTREMEGUAR-/271000079647 is the one right?
again if so, how is it available for 1.7k when its just 5$ here http://www.xtremeguard.com/Motorola.../atrix_2_ii_screen_protector.htm#.T-258hQcwY4

are you using any casing? thing is if i keep the phone on the table, camera's glass gets into contact with the table.. so was thinking if a case, then it wouldn't
Yes thats the same shellster i was talking about, what i was looking for was a barely there case, which is not available in india at this point, searched on ebay and found it will cost 1700+, stumbled upon this shellster and bought one. It's simply great, even if you dont use the holster, the shell case itself is made of good quality material and gives good grip.
Yes again, this was the xtremeguard film i was talking about, dont buy this on ebay, if you have a paypal account order it on xtremeguard site only, they ship worldwide, and with shipping it will cost you approximately $9, which is not even half compared to 1175 on ebay.
and remember one thing this is NOT a screenguard, it's rather a protective film, which comes with a soap solvent to apply and can be reused, the installation surely takes few minutes.. search videos on youtube you will get an idea.it's barely visible at the same time protects the screen.
This belongs in Atrix 2 Accessories. Moved.
Cheers

Anyway, you'd know that the Atrix 2 screen sort of slopes down at the edges - about 2 millimetres. No screenguard is going to cover that part. Other than that, this covers everything.

Glad that I can help..
when you visit amzer online store there are some videos demonstrating the shellster, and also in HTC one x forums theres a detailed review of the shellster, take a lool at it..
and reg the otterbox commuter.. Of you want to protect your mobole from drops and accidents then look no further, otterbox cases will turn you atrix 2 into a big bad defy.. But they add lot of bulk..

i've got 2 cases and the anti glare screen guard, all three by amzer, bought it off flipkart.
my screenguard has a lot of scratches cause of the keys in my pocket.. Though m happy with the antiglare matt finish.
Posting a few photos here, the black one is the snap on case, its got a rubberised matt finish which tends to scratch off if not used properly and the other one is a Glossy TPU gel skin case which m currently using, hope this helps.
And yeah, the black snap on case requires a plectrum/pick to UN-snap it.

1) which of the 2 cases you have is better if i keep my phone in pant pocket (or how are they different)?
2) which of these would be better ? I think soft gel case would come off in pocket.

Both are similar, the snap on is slightly bulkier.. The glossy luxe argyle case isnt the soft gel rubbery case, I had bought tht one for my old phone which was a pain while taking the phone out of your pocket. This luxe argyle case is quite good coz its doesnt add much bulk to the phone.
The snap on is good, but the prob I found was that the on screen edges are a bit thick, so its a bit of a pain to drag drop icons from one homescreen to the other and also taking the case off Needs a thin tough plastic material, like a guitar plectrum, havent tried a credit card though..
I really hope the barely-there cases of case-mate launch for our phone..

OK. And which one offers better protection from a fall?
SnapOn, Luxe argyle or Shellster/Holster (ebayDOTin/itm/Amzer-Black-Shellster-Hard-Case-Cover-Holster-Motorola-ATRIX-2-MB865-/230818888698?pt=IN_Mobile_Accessories&hash=item35bde0bbfa)
Shellster holster is very costly so I am willing to avoid that if Luxe/SnapOn is offering good enough fall protection

None actually, dunno about shellster, the otterbox will give u the best fall protection, but it costs a bomb.
Out of the two that I have I think the snap on is better, just cause its bulkier. both of em are not too expensive, less than Rs.550 for their combined price.

Tired of Commuter, Any suggestions?

Ok so ive had the blue/black Otterbox commuter now for a few weeks and I did like it at first but now im just sick of it, makes the phone a little to thick for how often i use it and just has gotten on my nerves, anyone able to recommend something with about the same protection maybe a little bit more thin?
also, ill probably ship this one off to someone when i get a replacment
Felt the same way with my commuter. From what I've red its the thinnest one of that type of case. The tridents look cooler, but myself I just got an incipio feather shine and I love it. Provides more drop protection than you would think, but looks way cool
Same protection? Get the Incipio Silicrylic case, looks tons better than the Otter box.
If you want a sleeker case overall, get the Seidio Surface case, with kickstand.
Sent from my sexy white HTC One X on T-Mobile
yeah i been eyeballing the seido....hows the grip on it?, if the commuter had grip i could deal with the thickness
Pretty good, not a glossy finish and the kickstand doesn't add a weird bump like with the Seidio Active. Lmk if you want pics comparing the normal Surface with the Surface kickstand.
Sent from my sexy white HTC One X on T-Mobile
sure
Had a Best Buy gift card so I grabbed that platinum series case/holster combo and I like it. Pretty protective and slimmer than the Commuter for sure.
I used to use the Commuter on all my iPhones, but the one for the One X is just too hard to get on and off for me. I wanted a slimmer case that didn't leave the camera lens hanging out the back (and I didn't want to break the bank either). I found this one on eBay and it's fantastic. And only $7.95, too. The seller ships super fast, too (from California to Kentucky in 2 days).

Incipio NGP here. I like the softer feel and the decent protection around the edges. The included screen protector is rather lousy, but you can use the coupon to get XtremeGuard for next to nothing. You will have to cut it down a bit to work well with the ngp and not lift at the edges.
i havent gotten mine yet for the One X but i ordered the Barely There case by Case Logic, i had it for my Inspire 4g and another for my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, cant wait to get mine for this phone, they are thing light and stay on, they arent going to protect from drops like the commuter but they will keep it from getting scratched to hell on the back.

Will not protect the lens cover at all. If you are worried about "scratching like hell" you might want something more substantial.
really cause the other two i have had were fine even the Inspire which had the lens that flared out like the HOX kinda sucks now ill look into another case maybe the incipio feather? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZT4UWI/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 or this as from the pictures it looks like it helps with the lens.

I ordered both the feather and the ngp from Incipio. Sent the feather back to because the protection was too minimal. Love the ngp so far. Not too bulky not too flimsy. The provided screen protector sucks big time tho. Incipio has versions for both hox models make sure you get the right one. Order from Incipio direct, indirect same price

I am more worried about the side of the case being so flexible. Compared to my old HTC Sensation's otterbox case which was more rigid.
Apart from that, i like the case.
I dropped mine and cracked the screen, it was seriously the smallest drop ever for a phone and still broke. Most fragile phone I've ever had given how many other of my HTC's have been used like a football.
So once its fixed/replaced, I wont be taking a 2nd chance despite hating cases.
Thought about the Incipio feather Ultralight but based on the comments, sounds like it won't offer any decent protection. Might order the NGP Semi-Rigid Soft Shell Case instead. But from the photos, does the case sit over the buttons or are there cut outs?
What are the other options as far as minimal size but decent protection? I'll take my chances breaking it again before using some bulky ugly case!
HTC - NGP
Pretty sure there is only a single NGP that fits the international and AT&T version. The case covers the buttons but all are functional. I purchased the Nillkin Scub first which is very sleek but didn't offer a substantial lip around the screen. The NGP offers good protection without being bulky. Because it's designed for the international version the cutouts don't line up perfectly (microphone and speaker) but all the buttons and ports work fine. Had to make a small cut to get one of my power cords to fit.

What are some of the best looking cases out there ? Plain cases like the otter box and that not with designs and stuff. And also some battery backup cases.

I use and love the nillkin TPU case. Had a few others, but went back to this. I love it because it is sleek and has a lip to protect the camera:

For power, there is the Mugen cases:

I just ordered a bag-o-cases from cruzerlite when they were giving away 30% off coupons. I love their designs, but don't like that there is no protection for the camera, but we will see:

I'm preferential to this case:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007WGFN8E/ref=aw_cr_item_title
It's thin; offers protection for the screen, camera, and body; has the cool dual-textured back; and grips my car's console so my phone doesn't go flying around the car while I drive.

Do you know if anyone else is selling the clear black nillkin case?
I bought THIS a while back and have been happy with it. It was cheap. It feels good in the hand. It doesn't add that much bulk to the phone, (i.e. otterbox type stuff), and gives a bit more security for drops than just a TPU or silicone case. Only problem I've had with it is it peels up the screen protector on the bottom right corner. So yeah, good purchase for under $4.
Thanks for the link. The phone my cousin gave came with an otterbox case. Didn't like it. I really like the nillkin one. Found a grey one. Hopefully same as clear black.

In really liking the Seidio Active case. It's stylish and had protected my phone through a few rough drops.
Is the seidio active a one piece design? For some reason it looks like a 2 piece to me?

I have a speck case (which I bought from at&t, the day after the phone was released). It looks horrendous, but it does it's job. It's been over a year since it's release, and I've seen some good ones over the web (usually just browse random mobile websites). You'll come across something you like.
I've gone to not using a case though, as I really like the slim candybar feel.
I used to use an Otterbox...but the port covers fell off so I tried the Trident Kraken. The case looks really nice but it is SUPER BULKY. I was surprised at first how big the case was. I like the case and the how it looks...but I probably wouldn't buy it again

That's what I got after I ditched the otterbox. The kraken ams case is average at best. Bulky as **** and the top left part of the plastic piece that fits on the screen side decided to to snap and break. Didn't drop it or anything just pulled it out of my pocket weird and the skinny piece of plastic snapped clean in two. I have since taken the outer plastic shell off and have been using the silicone innards as a case. Doesn't even fit right and its entirely too loose to really be useful. I don't have a choice until I get another case.
Thinking about getting either he incipio hard shell or whatever its called or a seidio active

I got the ottorbox commuter (way cheaper on amazon then retail)
Got it after my screen shattered after dropping it 4 feet in a tpu case.
Absolutely love it. Not too bulky and great protection (check YouTube videos)
(The only time I wouldn't recommend it is if y need to take it out of the case frequently cuz its a pita)

I had this a while ago:
http://www.incipio.com/cases/smartp...feather-shine-ultralight-hard-shell-case.html
Was really nice while it lasted, unfortunately the corners started cracking. Really damn sexy case though, everyone who saw it was like "Whats that??!?"
Overall though, I can't recommend it since it cracked. I've been running caseless for a while now. Its nice.

Spigen Case Slim Armor

Hey Guys, i just wanna share this case, because many people has talked about the case but i dont know if anyone got one.i Have one of this, and one Neo Hybrid.
Definitly this one gives more protection but makes the phone a little bigger as well.
on everyday use, i use the Neo Hybrid, but when i know im going to a place like a club or something i know i have the possibility that my S4 drops on the floor i put the SlimArmor.
Oh wow, that indent is so deep on the camera lens and flash, it seems like trouble on the long run with dust trapped inside.

Lol looks like it came in the wrong box. How do you guys think this red one looks with the white S4?
nice that lip looks good. the other slim armor thread turned into a slim armor bashing thread but this looks good. did you receive this in the neo hybrid packaging? if so it's fake

Did you just push yours into your case with the TPU and the shell already mated?
My phone doesn't stay in well and there is more of the Silver bezel showing than what I see in your pictures.
Even with just the TPU case by itself the bezel is showing

Are you sure you can't cancel it? Amazon doesn't charge you until it ships. ..

no i didnt receive it in this package, i put it there so i could show you that even the original ones fits on that package as well, because so many people get theres on that kind of package.so it makes no diference fake or original, mine broght the serial number to confirm its autentic, and a label inside the case itself to proof that was the real thing  but how can you tell if its fake or not without the numbers?i like to know those kind of things.

yes i saw in a review on youtube its better to put the phone in to the case when they already mated its easy and i can confirm that, the other way around i take more time to put it through.
im going to put some more pictures today just you to see more detail of the cover. but i guess was you didnt put the phone on the cover that is already mated that can be youre problem.mine i think is doing the job is suposed to do.very protective and still not so big,but a little bigger than the neo hybrid that is the case im loving right now.

I got this case on black last night for my black S4. Coming from Otterbox this case will not protect against decent drops as its far too thin. Its nice for low maybe 3 foot drops. My only grip is that the gloss hard Cover shows finger prints heavily. Extremely heavily. And, it's hard to wipe off even with a cloth or shirt, etc. Nice designed case though. More for looks than protection.

Awesome case. Out of all the ones I have used, this one so far is definitely my favorite.

i think it can protect fare enough because its made of tpu material and on top of that plastic. i had on my S3 only a skin case that doesnt protect at all,it only spare me at the riscs on the camera when i put it on top of a table.so for me this one protects really well because im not planed to get my s4 fall of my hand at a great distance.its only an extra protection if im unlucky at some point. because as i told before i only use this case when i go to a club at night or to a place that is full of people. on every day use i use the Neo Hybrid that i prefered. i really like more neo Hybrid and that one protects even less but my only concern is when i put on top of a table or something to not make scratches on the back camera lens
sorry but this slim armor is fake
i ordered mine directly from spigen SPG in california und it looks different.
but they send me the number, and i bought from spigen uk on amazon either way protects so its better then my slim cover that i used on S3 that cost me only 3£ so if its fake its fake, thanks anyway for let me know.
looks nice.
