[Kernel][GB][BFQ/CFQ][OC/UV][HDMI-MHL][USB HOST] JB's GB Kernel - (07/05/12) - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hello!
I have decided to port the USB Host Controller driver to the Infuse 4G based on the work of the brilliant szstupy.
If you do not know what all this means scroll down below for a diagram of a connection guide.
Currently I do not have a way to test full hardware functionality, but I can confirm the necessary host driver is loaded and can be seem by szstupy's USB Host Controller Application.
Core features:
Built based on Entropy's Gingerbread source tree as the starting point.Thank you Entropy for your insight and words of wisdom.
OC/UV BFQ CFQ 100mhz - 1600mhz Kernel based on the work of Entropy, bedwa, netarchy and LinuxBozo . Thank you Entropy, netarchy, bedwa, Linuxbozo and anyone else I might have missed.
MHL Patch / Video Lib Fix - Based on Entropy's patch fixes and ZenArcade's source tree commits. Thank you ZenArcade.
Voodoo Patches - Thank you Supercurio. You are a gentleman and a true inspiration.
USB Host driver BUILD 5 - Based on the work and research of sztupy. Be sure to thank him and and his team for their pioneer work.
What works:
Calls
GPS
Sound
Video playback
MHL
Bluetooth
OC/UV
HDMI-MHL
Voodoo Sound patches
Partially working:
USB Host driver support - Limited to the actual implementation. This is a very early, and very rough usb host support.
Known major issues:
None that I have noticed so far. *Need more feedback*
Installation instructions:
Method 1:
Download SGS Kernel Flasher at Google Market Place, flash the kernel, boot and report back with feedback.
Method 2:
Boot to "Download Mode"
Run "heimdall flash --kernel kernelImageNameHere"
Reboot and report back with feedback.
Download:
Use it at your own risk. If you do not understand the risks of flashing a custom kernel this is not the mod for you.

FAQ
Does that mean I can now connect my favorite USB DAC Audio Amp to the Infuse?
Unfortunately not at the moment, and that is actually what motivated me to start this project.
Quote from sztupy: "usb audio is based on isochronous transfer usb support, which is unfortunately missing in this implementation (and it is missing in the SGS 2 as well)."
If anyone has any other clues, be sure to let me know as I do think it is (and so does sz) theoretically possible.

Good Work :good: Thank you!

Nice work JB! Thanks for everything you've been doing for the Infuse community.

Strange, it has been solid for me for a few days now when running in combination with jscotss and qkster's ROM's coming from ICS.
Try flashing it via heimdall next time if you can, or give the alternate kernel a try. If you can, logs and a bit more info would also be helpful.

Not yet but i will make a patch or add one soon.. still testing, what kernel do you guys use the most or prefer?
oooo hardware acceleration, sexy!
do other roms offer this feature?
Sweet... another ROM Dev!
The biggest props right now go to Roach's Kernel, Blades and co haven't had a source release since August, I dont know what Roach has had over them during the interm time, but it seems to be pretty damn decent if i say so myself... Oh, and the TF201 (Transformer Prime) Kernel Source is out, so hopefully someone will tear it down and see what can be ported over to our TF101 (Transformer)!
And speaking of Roach's Kernel (which sadly lacks UV aka Undervolding to save power), look into the dual core optimized OC daemon and OC Daemon control panel! Best low level OC tool ever... Talk about Mhz speed scaling!
EDIT: yes, most other ROM's support GPU UI Acceleration

Cool thanks I'll try that, and thanks for the welcome. Most of my work is over on the sensation forum but I'll be making some for the Galaxy S2 also. I've mainly made this just for a good stock ROM that's fast and reliable. So I hope you guys like it. Requests and feedback are welcome.

[Kernel] ardatdat kernel v1.6 released [CWM] (2012-04-26)

First, thanks all testers that have contributed a lot in testing the v1.6 beta kernel. Without your valuable feedback, v1.6 release will not be here.
Let me introduce the features of "The New Kernel" v1.6
1. Generally, smoother than all the previous versions (feedback from most of the beta testers)
2. Stabilized the voltage & frequency setting such that the 'stock' voltage is used without affecting OC stability.
3. As different machine's CPUs are different, OC to 1.35Ghz is not the most stable setting. Instead, 1.3Ghz will be the max.
4. Remove some of the useless codes used in v1.5
5. Re-base the whole kernel source from official XWLA4 kernel
6. Add in support to read NTFS & CIFS file system
7. Switch to use the SLUB allocator
8. Fine tune the brightness control (brightness changes smoother than v1.5)
9. Disable ipv6 (unless I am told to add it back)
10. Keep the feature of measuring correct 3g/wifi data counter
11. Makefile optimization
12. Other minor bug fixes
Special thanks to: CyanogenMod, intersectRaven, pershoot, faux123 for their kernels and references.

Maybe you could request the devs in the S2 forum to help as they have a working MOD for S2.
I can myself ask them but I won't understand a thing about what they'll suggest to modify, so it'll be better if you ask them directly.

[Kernel][FC09][BML/MTD][TW] ShadowKernel-FC09-v1.0.1 / VoodooColor, OC/UV (6/3/2012)

Huge thanks to the many talented developers out there including (in no particular order) but not limited to:

See the feature table below the download section. I've maintained the same features in all the kernels (except where noted), so just download the corresponding kernel for your FC09 ROM and flash in CWM.
There seems to be some confusion around. Just because you are on the FC09 modem, does NOT mean you are on an FC09 ROM.
***This is the thread for the TW FC09 ShadowKernels. If you're looking for a ShadowKernel for another ROM, see the links at the end of the OP.***

Has anyone been using this after coming from the No-LED version of Samurai? That's my situation, and I noticed that it doesn't appear the LED notifications are working in this kernel either.
Frankly, I prefer it that way, but I didn't know if bbelos was aware of the issue, or if it's only me...
Good point. Bbelos, Samsung screwed up the LED calls. I think you need to edit them to the EL30 numbers for the LED notifications to work.

So even though this is an MTD kernel, this won't work with CM9?
I saw the note about these are just TW kernels and second guest whether I could use it with CM9 Beta 3.

Aside from CM9 requiring it's own non-TW kernel, it's also an ICS rom while this is a Gingerbread Kernel.

What Is AOKPAOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project. It is a custom ROM distribution for several high-end Android devices. The name is a play on the word kang and AOSP (Android Open Source Project). The name was sort of a joke, but it just stuck, just like our infatuation with unicorns.
We fork the source code of Android that Google puts out in the open with every major version release, and we then add the magical unicorn bytes (read: we add some of the coolest features that are both useful and make your ROM awesome).
With AOKP, you can generally do a lot more with your device than what you could do with the original firmware that came installed on it.
Why AOKPWe were waiting for when you’d ask this.
There are a variety of reasons why a hilly billy Android user, on a bright sunny day, would suddenly start using AOKP and loving it.
For one, AOKP is lightweight. Most OEMs provide a heavy UI layer over Android and have loads of bloatware (i.e. apps that not everyone use every day, but you cannot remove because they’re “baked in” by default). Since AOKP is built upon vanilla Android source, it has neither of the above.
Also AOKP has features that you will not find on your stock firmware. You can have a multitude of toggles to quickly flip a lot of your phone’s settings right at your fingertips, or you can launch apps quickly from any screen using our Ribbons.
You can change almost each and every aspect of the OS, from its looks to the way it functions, with total freedom. And did we tell you, AOKP helps you make tacos?

that means we should not flash aries.....
update usb mass storage also derped in aries...
do not flash it ....
I tested that aries kernel on minicm9 and didnt even face a single wifi toggle stuck
Dunno about usb mass storage as i only use card reader!
Hey peeps.. yes to use OC partitioning is needed..
I have tested OC kernel..And it works GREAT! OC is up to 800mhz (odd, I know) but the performance of ICS itself is awesome..With OC kernel the storage was also increased (in case any one is wondering if it is old OC)
Thanx Navinn for reviewing with aries kernel..but @everyone Please, give me more reviews on what happens after flashing Aries kernel (the one I posted)..If usb mass storage and wifi problem is universal with everyone I'll compile a kernel myself
Thanx Everyone!
EDIT: Sources uploaded
hmmm...

Nice. Missed ur kernels

Omg you're back. I've been sticking with stock kernels because there are no good sense kernels for vzw

First off, thanks for making a kernel with that feature. I certainly enjoy fooling with MultiROM and that's a requirement for the host ROM.
At the same time, I don't know that the kernel posted is successful. I flashed the CodeCraft-M8_PH-kexec-hardboot.zip posted in the OP on my device running Santod's latest NuSense build. Using the MultiROM Manager, it states that the kernel does not have the kexec-hardboot patch.
I can't say I have high proficiency with MultiROM or what this specific kernel feature is otherwise, so let me know if there is a specific log that it would be useful for me to attach. I wasn't sure if a logcat would say much in this instance.

Okay so that one was my bad . Its in the code just wasn't initialized in the config. I have a new one cooking right now. If its not to much trouble, can you flash it to check if the problem persist?
Happy to. Watching for the new posting. Thank you for your efforts to the community.

All set, same name new zip
Still no luck. I installed the kernel once with Flashify and a second time just from recovery to be sure. In both cases, I receive the message that the kernel doesn't have the kexec-hardboot patch.

Not sure what is up with the download counter, but yes, I've tried that copy as well. Screenshot is attached of the feedback I get from the MultiROM Manager program (and yes, I know I didn't install the main MultiROM file yet. This still works for detecting kernel ability, or it has in previous builds). Please let me know if there is any other log source I can provide.
Well I got it working and new zip is uploaded
@Evolutionmods what's setting should I have to advoid reboots when running antutu?
