4ext Help! Fixed .. LOL Never Mind! - HTC Sensation

Guys Help!
I am having a problem
Not Sure Whats Up! 4ext Backups Not Showing!
I had to format my SD card ..
So I copied all the files to my HD first
I then formatted the SD Card
Then copied the clockworkmod and the 4ext dir. back to the SD Card
Now 4ext says I have no backups!
So I copied a rom.zip and 4ext finds that fine.
So I think the SD Card is fine and the files copied fine.
Not sure what's going on ..
But I cannot seem to access my recovery files!
So I cannot restore my system
And I have already formatted all partitions
Help ??? Suggestions ???
Using: 1.0.0.5 r5
No Theme and deleted 4ext folder

Try running the install option in Dexter's Open Recovery app.

Check if your sd card has an OpenRecovery directory.
Also, make sure you're not connected for USB Memory Card Access when you run Dexter's OpenRecovery.apk installer. Maybe try deleting OpenRecovery directory and OpenRecovery.zip from the sd card before installing OpenRecovery.apk.
Another idea is that it could be that there isn't enough free space on your sd card. I think Dexter's OpenRecovery.apk installer first puts OpenRecovery.zip on your sd card and then extracts it. Perhaps your sdcard doesn't have enough free space to extract the zip? Or perhaps there wasn't even enough space for the zip?

I've had this problem before and it was the openrecovery.zip file that caused the issue, I just re-copied the file onto my sdcard and all was good.

hello .. the SD is in a class 6 8GB free, I have no sd 5.80 in the zip file and no folder openrecovery ... in fact when I install the program restart recovery system installed in a flash while ago when I tried other rom us put a few seconds and then everything was fine .. and I entered the boot recovery ... I just do not re-create the folder on sd openrecovery .. when I feel are not related and not just for recharging ... .. I do not know what to do if .. but again ..sbf.. sorry again for translation by google..... p.s.certainly is true that I simply formatted the card by removing everything and then adding only a few folders (music, etc) do not know if this could affect in some way you could post .. .. (openrecovery.zip) maybe I could work ... I have no more ... thanks

Here are Dexter's OpenRecovery.zip and OpenRecovery.apk. I would try just installing the apk while disconnected from USB.
thanks .. now I feel I know you
followed the procedure but nothing yet .. and flash lite version as the zip v1.3 update you could do or would not work
Hello, I am still here ... good news after several failed attempts by rootbooter .. I did a clean / factory reset after this account without starting openrecovery .. I came back to get recovery and eventually worked (hopefully) fantastic .. . I'll try the new v1.3 (up to now I've tried almost all the dexter rom but the best for me and was the v1.0 .. the phone was born again I'm in Italy but I was French because sbf flash Italian Journal that I had created many problems) thanks anyway .. thank you all for the help thanks again ...

This is the correct answer.
But, I'd also point out that you don't have to format the SD card to switch ROM's. You can keep all your data on the SD card, flash a new ROM, and all your data will be there waiting for you. There's usually no advantage to formatting the SD card unless you are having problems with it.

Its always good to back up, but when flashing a ROM the sdcard doesn't get formatted by deafault and doesn't need to be.

Better do a Complete backup.. And copy back only essential stuff.. Who knows if something important is still there like a Nandroid backup as it will be in sdcard only

Install Android ADB (found in the SDK package, check Google if you need help to install).
Then, go to Install from sdcard menu once so it mounts the sdcard, then type on your computer:
adb push C:\myfile.bla /sdcard/
Go back and forth in the Install zip from sdcard menu and your file will be there.
Btw install twrp recovery and you won't have that problem because it uses external and internal sd card

I love my Sensation with ARHD 6.8.0 but there are lots of thrash in my sd card and i want to remove them.
If I format my sd card, would my 4EXT Touch Recovery be gone too or just the app of 4EXT Touch Recovery?

Ah so the recoveries still stay in the phone even though i've format my sd card? That means the 1gb+ backup file would still be there?
the sd card contains all your nandroid backups and all your music and so on. So you should probably back your sd card up to your computer just in case you need something back after you format it.

This.
And keep in mind you can selectively put the files you want back on the SD Card after format.
I'm sure there is other stuff you'd rather not lose as well, photos, saved game data, music, list of phone numbers of Victoria's Secret models, whatever the case may be.
So you can back up the SD Card, format it, then with the ease of using a full sized file manager on your computer put back only the files and folders you want.

the recovery stayes inside the phone after it is flashed and yes the backup will be deleted and to avoide that u can copy the backup to the pc and past it later when the sd card is formated.
Thanks to all of you guys who took time answering my questions.

[Q] Does CWM recovery backup partitioned sd card?

Does the backup through CWM recovery backups only the internal memory contents or does it back both the partitions of sd card?
I am asking because yesterday when I was taking back up, one of the process message was something like couldnt find ext-sd and ext-sd did not backup.

Did you set up sd-ext? If you havent formated your sd card to 1.partition Fat and 2. partition ext2/3/4 there is no such partition
I have partitioned sd card such that I am able to use 1 gb as internal and link apps through link2sd app. I think I formatted sd card during this process. I hope this is what u were asking.

In that case the recovery should recognize the ext partition. Have you tried using another recovery?

If you use an old CWM (e.g. 5.0.x.x) and your ext partition is "ext4" the recovery can't handle it. What device are you using? I can check for another recovery version

Karbonn A5.
I think when i partitioned it was something like ext3.
Aint there any other way to backup the whole system (internal, external, apps, data, everything) without doing something very technical??

ONLY possible with root access + custom recovery (basics and not very technical...)
Here is TWRP 2.4 recovery. Just copy the zip to your storage and flash it via recovery It will solve your issues (99%)

TWRP will overwrite CWM.
Titanium backup (pro) is awesome, but you will still need a working custom recovery
