Ebayer selling g2x claiming it has official gingerbread update from tmobile

Hey guys im new to the forums and i came across something interesting just thought i would share it with you guys...there is a guy selling a g2x on ebay right now claiming he has the official gingerbread update on his g2x and he said it hasnt been hacked and that its the actaul update...i cant post the link cuz im new but just wanted to see what you guys thought..if u type in lg g2x on ebay and scroll down his item display picture is a pic of the phone showing 2.3.3 under phone info...and is there anyway he would be able to leak that to us...i messaged him already and told him i was interested in the phone and i want to know where he got the update...when he got it..and can he please leak it to a developer..im a noob so i dont no if he still can leak it...anyways what do u guys think

There's an old gingerbread leak already, but it wasn't completed at the time. He probably just flashed that version, not the official finished rom we're all waiting for.

Ya could be but in his description he really makes it out to be the real thing..he said everyone in the world is waiting for this update and then went on to say its not some hacked gingerbread its the real deal and its awesome..ill let u know what he writes back if he does..but i dunno could be wat u said...just have high hopes brotha..if it were real would he be able to leak it..

Thought 2.3 had a black top banner, not the white one he is showing

yea somethings fishy cuz official gingerbread has a black notification bar, and also if someone is running the leak now just match there baseband numbers up in with the one in the pic, well atleast what u can see of it

My baseband shows the same as his, I'm running Fauxs aosp. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the baseband "should" be updated when the new/official GB hits. Yes? No?

Baseband doesn't necessarily have to be different. It's just for the cellular radio, has nothing really to do with an OS upgrade

idk somethings weird with it the notification bar is white it seems like the only pic that he truly took was the one with the os build and baseband all the other ones are from like a tmobile store or something the one pic u can see the phone is still hooked up to the security device in the store (2nd pic) hes holding something on the back of phone which i think is that security device......idk seems too fishy

I'm guessing there's still more work to be done. I give T-Mobile credit though for using their own folks as part of the QC process to make sure the update's right before releasing it in to the wild.

yeah really......

scam. The pics of the phone itself are from in a store and the screen shot is no big deal. Hell, mine says 2.3.4. It doesn't matter anyways. The CM nightlies are running damn strong now and with the faux kernals, you will be building something way better than the stock GB anyways. Once the Gb update comes out, CM and the other devs will be ripping into it anyways. Just give it 2-3 days after the update comes out and you will have a better package than the stock GB.

No worries

Hopefully it's some time in Q2 or Q3 and not around Xmas time. Either way, I'll be happy that there's hopefully going to be forward progress on CM9 since not having data is a real killer for an everyday phone.

Hello everyone, I took out some time today to call T-Mobile nd search around a bit....
So to answer all the questions about services dropping!!
T-Mobile have been having service issues according to the representative everything should be up and running in the next few days.

I tried GR and used it for some hours and same thing. My sister is stock Froyo and is having issues too but my gf and dad live in different region and they are not having problems so I guess it is a problem with the carrier and my area.

But seriously, concerning the OP, you can't really pester anybody for this. LG released this phone to make money and they didn't consider the jellybean update to be worth the investment I guess...

maybe the are still in shock that people have/use/want to upgrade this phone, and havent been able to pick themselves off the floor yet to fix it

its true, i switched to galaxy nexus and havnt looked back.
I am still hoping maz can make a perfect port though, since my mother is currently using my old g2x, i want to get a smooth rom for her.

Exact same situation here as well. My mom's already fed up with the damn thing freezing up every day, even though it's on the stock V21y ROM and baseband, which was supposed to "fix" these issues. She reboots it just about every day too (or else it gets slow as molasses).

For moms, just flash them a vanilla cm7 with either faux 048 or Trinity T15 kernel.
Solid, dependable, hassle free after initial setup.

Does anyone know if there has been any real progress since the ICS release/leak/whatever for the SU660? I thought that since it has the tegra 2 as well maybe it could be ported over more easily than from the p990. But I don't know what all is involved with that sort of stuff.

Yep, I've already downoaded the Canadian TWRP (since ATT doesn't have one yet) and Slim Bean 4.2.2.
Just waiting on the hack to be released. Dude isn't holding it back for just nothing I'm sure. Prolly is making sure it works consistently on all phones before releasing.
The thing about software hacks... just because it works on one model of phone, doesn't mean it won't break another phone of the SAME model. Stuff like that happens all the time.
Btw, thanks a lot. Now I have three freakin threads on Bootloader that I have to keep refreshing all day.
