please help me guys, i cant just flash roms to my milestone because i dont have a stock rom (2.2 korean rom)
please help me..
thanks in advance
I can't understand your question, sorry. Do you have Motoroi XT720 or Milestone XT720 and which stock ROM *do* you have?
my present rom is korean rom 2.2
i cant just flash any rom because if i flash a fail rom, then i cant go back to my stock rom (which is 2.2 korean rom) because i dont have a file for that. what rom are you using? is it stable?
Make a nandroid backup of your current ROM before flashing anything else.
noob question

Hi all. I'm sorry if this has maybe asked before, but i've read several guides and topics and didn't quite get it. What is the difference between flashing a rom via Clockwork mod and odin? Currently I have Lite'ning Rom v6. 1 XXKH3, KERNEL version [email protected] #20 and I was wondering what are the right steps to change to another custom rom(I have a galaxy s 2 and i was planning to try a ics rom). Thanks in advance
from what i have gathered through flashing roms on my sgs2 odin if for official samsung roms and CWM if for home made roms but i may be wrong
Thank you for your reply. So if i want to go back to stock firmware I shall use odin and clockwork for custom roms? Anyone else can confrim this?

it's batter that you don't install the rom if you don't know anythink.. it's batter that you wait for a stable relase ..
but if you want you can make it :
1 root your phone with cf root.. find it on the android development theard and follow the instruction ..
2 install any custom rom based on gingerbread aviable for your gingerbread version.. for example if you are on xxkpq install a rom based on xxkpq but not cyanogen or miui...(they are based on 2.3.7)
3 flash the alpha 3 on the rom... (before you make it wipe data and chace)
if you want backup your apps and games make it after the first step(when your phone is rooted) with titanium backup...
hit thanks if i helped you ;D
Hi...

to install the xxkpq(you can see your actually firmwere in settings-->about phone) you have to go to the android development and there is a theard with all the firmweres there you can download the xxkpq version and flash it with odin to flash with odin you put it in the pda of odin but if you serach it with google i'm sure you can find some more specific guide in your language
Mine is i9003DDKP4.. dude went to many sites... Got one thing clear... first root then go to titanium back up... then install with ur kp4 rom and then download dhirus cyanogen mod and google apps... then flash both of them one by one..
I guess then i will be done... one question why to flash with kp4 rom and then Cyanogen Mod ...????

Hi,
I want to know if there is any way to restore my tab to stock firmware? I can't find any links for GT-5113 ROM.
The reason to store the stock ROM is that I have installed CM9 on my tab and now I am unable to install Infected / Cleanrom. It hangs on Samsung boot screen after installing these roms via CWM.
Thanks.

As you realized AFTER the fact, creating a thread in development means you have something to offer to others,
not asking questions. FYI: I stopped using CM9 ROMs a long time ago because they frequently contain MANY
hidden bugs, only work properly when loaded with certain kernels, certain CWMs ... bottom line is you're
just one of the latest victims. Try a factory reset. Then ODIN the CWM in my Root thread. Then install
the ORIGINAL v1.0 CleanRom. It's the best of current custom ROMs and NO, we still don't have a stock GT-P5113.

We had the same situation, so hope this help.
I used odin to flash the gt-5110 stock Rom followed the guide in restore stock rom in galaxy tab 2 general section .After flashed my model gt-5113 became gt5110...lolz then i flashed the Clean Rom v1.1 then my model was back to Gt-5113..now I decide to stay at stock rom because Cm9 sucks...waiting for Aokp official.
If have any question pm me, I'll think i can help your tab 2 back to stock. [email protected]

Thanks, will try both the suggestions one by one.
The only problem with ODIN at the moment is that you can't reset the flash counter, I already have it at 3
Solved
Hi Glenn,
I was able to install CleanRom, by installing the CWM posted in your thread.
Thanks.

When you flashed the 5110 rom, did you have a problem with the language (Mine is currently in a foreign language)?
if so, when you flashed the Clean Rom did your tablet revert to the proper language?
Thanks
You can restore to stock using my guide. (link in signature) It should now be in English.
good day to all..
im new with this phone..this one is a korean version of galaxy s1(shw m110s)
im confused with how to install custom roms here...
what do i need to download..a kernel or a custom rom?
thanks xda
Moved to General Q&A.
The kernel allows the ROM to communicate with the hardware specific to your device. All ROMs have a kernel build-in. If the custom ROM is designed fir your phone, it will work fine. If the ROM was intended for a device in the same family as yours, you can flash that ROM, then flash the kernel for your phone, & it'll work. If the ROM was designed for a completely different device, nothing will get it to work.
Remember to always do a nandroid backup before flashing stuff!!

Hello people!
I have one question about backup of stock ROM.
I want to put custom ROM on my HTC device, but I cant find my stock ROM and kernel in case I needed to return it on stock ROM.
My question is when I do a backup of my stock ROM, is it going everything stock? Even kernel?
For example, If my HTC broke down and I need to send him to mobile carrier on repair, If I put backup of my stock ROM is it possible to see that I was flashing custom ROMs??
Sry for my english,
Thank you!
