Hello All,
My gt-p6210 went into a reboot loop, and i attempted to reflash the stock rom with odin. I downloaded the US firmware, and odin seems to hang at <ID:0/007> cache.img. How do i get around this?

I sent it in to service, and they want to charge me 100 dollars to fix it.

well, it had a hardware issue. Does anyone here know what part# GH82-06185A is? or will everyone just ignore this thread lol.

Was it not under warranty?

That's the Mainboard!!!! if you're only charged 100USD for it the go ahead. it costs more than twice as much from a third party repair.

yea it was under warranty and they told me charging me was a mistake when I called, so the repair was free. Hopefully the replacement will resolve reboot and sleep of death issues.

Looks like you got very lucky. When I tried to bring back my overheating Desire a while back (under warranty but running CM9) they refused to do anything about it. I thought that as soon as you installed something via Odin, it can be tracked via some counter and that your warranty is void.

phone bricked, samsung said lolsufail

I was doing a odin one click restore from continuum rom, and it went through and said successfull but blackscreen brick on reboot...
so after trying every trick in the book, i got it to come on in download mode using a jig but of course odin didnt see it so i had no choice but to try again..
well after days of trying to get it back into DL mode, i contact samsung, and find out my phone is under warantee. so i send it in, and then a week later get an email saying: "Oh hai we r dun with ur phonez and sendin it bak to u"
of course im thinking sweet my phone will work... nope they put on the work order that my phone was beyond repair, and then put a little purple square piece of paper in the box with it that said "=P warantee void for unauthorized updates"
So unfortunately now i have no choice but to use my stupid iphone

There is a member floating around the forum who might be able to help you out with a JTAG flash for your phone, or you could look into trying your hand at it yourself. Just search for JTAG and I'm sure you'll find some help.

Okay first of all you posted in the wrong section. Next time please post in the Q&A if you have any problems/questions .
Does your phone turn on at all? Like to the Phone+!+PC screen?
my bad it was more of a comment than a question, hence the absence of question marks, I know what needs to be done to fix it, jtag, unless one of these new things theyre discovering with the uart, etc... happens to perform a miracle..
but no its black screen bricked, and that after a "successful" odin flash. The phone does turn on though cuz it gets warm.
Everyone knows flashing voids your warranty. Time to buy a new phone.
yea except for the flash that bricked the phone was a stock rom so i was hoping they wouldnt say it was void because of it
There are a million warnings on this site that flashing voids your warranty and may brick your phone.
When you decided to mess around with flashing you should have known this could happen.
dude im not stupid, i know that flashing voids your warranty. There is also a million people who have gotten new phones from bricks after flashing under warranty replacement.
Trying to get samsung to fix it under warranty is fraud and is illegal. Posting about it on here is evidence of the crime.
If you wanted your phone to have a warranty you shouldn't have flashed it.
I told them i flashed it... as i said, i was flashing it to stock anyway when it died. Either way no fraud was committed, i called them trying to see if i could just buy a new motherboard, theyre the ones that told me the phone was under warranty and to send it in.
So sorry mr lawyerpants for doing what i was told.
Well enjoy your brick just the same.

Personally the fun illegal warranty claim on a bricked phone is to open it up loosen the heatsink and take a soldering iron to the CPU well the phone is stuck on boot...
I of course have never done this as my phones CPU exploded for legitimate reasons... ;-P

Shouldve just said that your were updating to the offical froyo via kies. And kies told you to put you're phone into download mode (It does say that in the instructions somewhere as a second option.) And that you were doing the offical flash and the phone fell off your table and caused the usb to disconnect. Then the phone wouldn't boot...

I would like you to try something for me. I was having an issue very similar to this. remove your battery and then reinsert it without turning the phone on. plug the phone in as if to charge. Leave it on the charger for several hours. Then try to use odin 3 click, and post your results. May be a lost cause but if it has the slightest chance to save your phone, it deserves a shot.
You fail, should have read the instructions correctly on how to flash.

for noobs like me, android is too complicated.
i don't hate it, i think it's for more advance users.
after using the android for a couple week i still think ios is a lot ez to use.
IOS is garbage plain and simple. Apple forces you to use things THEIR way. With android you can fully customize every aspect of your phone. I've had an iphone and their crap compared to Android, especially this skyrocket.
Restore
Try going into recovery mode (turn phone on while holding both volume buttons) and if u made a backup before restore to it, if not then mount ur usb storage from there and put a new rom on it in the root folder then try to install that but try a clean wipe and all that first to
all this can be done in the recovery menu

Flashed My Phone Incorrectly Now It Won't Boot

I was following a tutorial on rooting my Galaxy S3 and by mistake I loaded the "VRALEC.bootchain.tar.md5" file under the boot loader option rather than the PDA option.
This was the tutorial "How To Root Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 4.1.2/4.1.1 & Install CWM Recovery! SCH-I535."
Now my phone won't boot at all and isn't being recognized by my computer when plugged in. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!

If your phone doesn't power on at all no led, no recovery or download access, no vibration even, then I'm afraid by putting the VRALEC.bootchain.tar.md5 in the wrong spot and flashing it through Odin you have hard bricked your phone. At this point warranty would be your best option.

If anyone at Verizon has any clue why a phone won;t turn on , then you might be right, but they don;t and they don;t have the time to worry with it, so they will just replace it if its less than a year old.

So there's absolutely no way to recover it at this point. I didn't get a warranty on it specifically because I was planning on running Cyanogenmod.

No, there is a way to recover it. There just is not a fixable way via xda. Third party services such as MobileTechVideos can fix your phone via jtag as a few others suggest.

If you don't have a warranty on your device the only other real option is to use JTAG to revive the phone. I would recommend checking out this place that will repair your bricked Galaxy S3 for you.

He was simply asking if it could be fixed, which is kind of what this section is for. I personally would've asked the same question if it happened to me because I haven't seen any questions based on this specific chain of events. He just put the file in the wrong slot, could happen to people, now this specific question will be able to be searched for by people who actually search.
So to answer the question, your bootloader is kind of your essential command for your phone that starts the booting process. You basically erased that with a file that doesn't execute that process. Luckily a jtag is able to rewrite that entire command. I think it's only $60, which is well worth the cost.

[Q] Hard bricked one x?

ok so my one x was running the latest AOKP rom then i decided i wanted to go back to stock for some stupid reason. so i flashed the RUU and all was fine.. then i updated it on the phone by going to software update, unaware that doing an OTA update would brick my phone if it was previously rooted (at least from what ive read)
so now my phone will not even power on, doesn't light up when plugged into charger. when i plug into computer it comes up as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008.
from what i understand, it can be unbricked, but only using JTAG. is that correct?
it is still under warranty so i took it into rogers and they are sending it for repair to Ontario (i am in vancouver)... what are the chances that they will know that i bricked it myself and end up just sending it back not fixed?
kinda sucks cause now i have no phone for "3-4 weeks"

It's Qualcomm high speed usb dl mode. That only comes up on a brick or if u power on with volume up that puts phone in download mode. And I'd wouldn't recommend playing in that part of the phone at all.
And please if you don't know 100% what your talking about please don't throw out random ideas, one wrong word and you can trash someones phone. Be careful with any advice.

i know its bricked for sure. basically i just want to know if there's a way they can tell exactly how it was bricked and/or if it was previously flashed. if it shows up on the computer there's gotta be some kinda way to communicate with it using other equipment right? i took a gamble hoping they won't notice and just repair or replace the phone LOL. :fingers-crossed:
I really don't think there's any way for them to tell. There are only two ways back from this kind of brick, having the motherboard replaced, and jtag repair. Either way I don't think it matters, the partitions are fried, so I highly doubt there is any way to tell how it happened.

Its been reported here and on AT&T forums, that the RUU and OTA have bricked completely stock One X's. Its not "common", but its happened.
Anything that updates hboot can potentially brick the phone, if the install doesn't go just right.
hate to resurrect an old thread, but just thought i'd update everyone and let them know rogers sent me a refurb phone that was in better condition than the phone i had sent in for repair .
so if anyone hard bricks their phone in the future like i did, if u have a warranty then they can't tell how it was bricked. if u don't have a warranty, u can get it JTAGGED, its the only way to fix it besides a complete mobo swap lol. :good:

[Q] bricked and terrified 4.3

okay i upgraded to 4.3 OTA and tried to revert back and soft bricked my phone. I still have access to download mode and the stock recovery. I know now that i can not revert but is there any way of getting it back to 4.3 so i can have a phone again?
thanks for the future help.
This is similar what happened to me. I have never done anything with my phone as far as rooting and I tried reverting to stock 4.1.2. In Odin I kept getting the "Nand Start! Fail (Auth)" because of the locked bootloader I guess. I flashed some other firmware that was unofficial with the locked bootloader and now I get the "unauthorized software detected" and I cant do anything but enter Odin download mode. What should I do?
that is exactly what is happing to me. same error and all.
Once you took the OTA 4.3 you got locked in. No way of going back.

If you took the OTA and tried to flash 4.1.2 Odin or unlock bootloader you are Hard bricked , no method or recovering it yet.
If you have stock recovery and download mode , only hope is wait for 4.3 .tar file
Theres no custom recovery I can flash and flash some other software or something?

Not to mention it is basically fraud, and is the main reason Verizon decided to start locking down phones in the first place.
I understand everyone is taking risks when flashing custom, and flashes can go wrong even when you do everything right, but there is VERY little chance of bricking your phone if you take your time and do a bit of research before you hit any buttons. And if you do manage to brick your phone, man up and pay for a new phone or pay for it to be fixed. Otherwise stop treating your $600 piece of technology like a toy.

The first time I ever rooted, I was worried about bricking. So i read everything I could find relevant.
Why in the world anyone would flash without reading is beyond me. Every single thread in Verizon Galaxy S3 at least mentions, if not totally devoted, to how bad 4.3 is and if you flash something on it you will brick.
I just don't get it.

If you do a battery pull and start back up in download mode (might take a couple of times to get it to work) then use the Verizon software upgrade assistant it should fix it but you will be stuck with 4.3. Worked for me
