This is the only thing that I've been missing since moving from a Sense ROM/launcher.
Does a nice scrollable widget exist that's similar to the stock Friendstream one?
EDIT: I've tried out Socialite, but it seems to never sync properly and eventually force closes on the CyanogenMod nightly builds.
I miss it too.
Try Pure Messenger Widget.

OP if you try Pure Messenger let us know what you think. I use Socialite and it seems to work okay... but could be better of course.

EDIT: I was just too tired to realize what I was doing incorrectly. Trying to get a widget setup that looks decent.
All of the different variants of the Sense style widgets look really "off" for some reason. Looking further, it's definitely the pictures, as they trail a bit off the left side of the widget. (See pic)
I'm also not fond of the left/right arrows on the widget. I only set up FB, so I don't need non-working buttons.
Pure Messenger will make you forget Friend Stream every existed.

Use the scrollable version with ADW/LauncherPro. It is better than FriendStream.
Like so:
Nice setup TheBiles.
PureMessenger > friendstream with the ability to use skins, add email and sms along with twitter and FB to stream, ability to select preferred clients for clicked feed, and oodles of config settings in a nice scrollable UI with ADW or launcherPRO. Well worth a buck-fifty.
I wouldn't consider Pure messenger better than Friendstream myself.
It's nice... but sadly needs a few fixes in my opinion
1) Won't display 'mobile upload' picture notifications properly. It only shows 1 picture in the internal viewer with no way to go directly to the person's photo list.
2) Pictures display as filenames in the list view, rather than the actual thumbnail as sense does. (This might be considered user preference, but I'd prefer to see a picture rather than <randomwords>.jpg )
3) No support for built in HTC applications for Facebook nor Twitter (aka peep). While the internal viewer can be dismissed in favor of a real 'app', the selection is limited to bout 3-6 apps none of which are the built in parts of HTC's rom. (Of course if you're not using HTC roms then this isn't problem
Overall it's a great app, and the best out there I've seen, don't get me wrong.. but Friendstream still has the edge in actual functionality for basic use. Sure, No themes, lack of customization hurt, but when it comes down to using the product for what it's intended for (Keeping up with posts/photos from your friends) it has a few issues IMO.

Overall it seems "ok" but lacking in some ways as well. You can't post directly from the widget, which is a huge strike against it. I want the widget so I don't have to clutter my homescreens with redundant apps.
Guess I accidentally went past my 24 hours so I am the proud owner, or some such thing.

I'm using the scrollable widget currently, and like I said, it's neat to watch updates, but it's a killer that I don't see an obvious way to post anything to FB/Twitter through the widget, instead I'm forced to use the app.
It just feels "clunky" for lack of a better term.
I will say that the widgets can be set up to look better, it just seems that some of the skins are definitely not ones any OCD person would want to use.

It's Launcher Pro. I'm using the Froyo wide dock (in settings) and just setting up normal apps and using the Launcher Pro icons for them.
I like how it looks with a nice black/white theme.

Erm. You just click that little star, and select "update status." You never have to open the official apps. You can also click that little arrow and select "open Facebook" so you don't ever need an icon on the screen in the first place.

That's Extended Controls. The second icon is the Froyo hotspot toggle, but it does have a 4G toggle option. I just don't have it on there because 4G doesn't work with CyanogenMod at the moment.

Well crap, it looks as though I'd always been fat-fingering the arrow and only saw the "open Facebook" link in there.
I recant my previous statements and accept that this is a damn fine alternative to Friendstream. (after a little getting used to)
The only issue that I have with Pure Messenger is this: When a FB contact posts something on someones' wall it doesn't show who the other person is, even if the other person is one of your contacts it doesn't show.
Got socialite running on newest cyanogen nightly. Its pretty nice really, I actually like it better than friend stream.
Hey, I am new here! But, one of my favorite UIs ever is Android 4.0 and I decided to create a website with the UI in mind and go from there... So as of now I have the first page but I dont think it looks too good(3 or 4/10) so if you could leave a comment telling me maybe what to change or what you would like to see changed. Thanks!
Source: GitHub
wonderful idea, but...
first, i would like you to move your headline with home and information and so on to the left side like in the ics app drawer. second, just edit ure posts, so they are looking like the standard google app design, like google talk or something like that, you know the apps(android)/post(webside) name in a headline and right of it the date(webside)/options(android)
.. maybe i'll find some more later
but keep on it is cool!!
i got my pc UI looking like ICS ;D
Alright ill try that and post some picture on this post tomorrow... its time for me to hit the pillow!
Sorry didn't get to post the pictures got stabbed:/ anyways let me go look at what that looks like... *Goes to see*... with the nav bar on the left it looks very plain on the right and I need something there, and can't think of anything, and I don't get your idea about the Google icons?
I don't suppose you are going to be sharing this template are you? I would absolutely love to get my hands on it.

I think is a very nice template, Anyway I'd use brighter colours cuz' IMO it's kinda dark.
Very nice, though I would put some icons next to headers like in settings of actual phone. Also headers to the left.
Also a little suggestion, use the icons for share etc to the right of headers. That would look good.
Its really good. Simplistic.

How to get android 4.0 ROOT?
Interesting. Would eliminate the need for a mobile-optimized version of the site.
Now is that background the simulated background of the phone (meaning all of the text boxes are floating), or is it the background of the website?
another thing i want to suggest to you is to use this backgroud (it's not the same you're using...different colours)!!

This is pretty AWESOME to use on the phone.... trust me i have it on my nexus s and it looks amazing!!!!!!!!

btw: i would suggest to cut the sharp edged of the boxes. make it round

Progress...
Hey guys sorry I've been inactive, heres the progress update... I have fixed around some stuff and now looking into a CMS(Content Management System) or custom CMS. But my absolute next step needs to be is getting login to work with a sql database and me being an idiot am starting to learn php LAST in the fantastic 4 web based languages(CSS, HTML, JAVASCRIPT, and PHP). So if someone could direct me to the right place to get a grasp on how to write a login system or maybe just write one for my use
Edit:

It is the background, and the text boxes are not floating just position: absolute(due to the right side of boxes)

All the colors are exact of ICS android, it may just look like its dark due to the background not full brightness because i dont need so much contrast between the boxes and the background(bad looks)

No kanged from google images but i put a 30-40% transparency over it.
I could help you out with the login system, but you would be better off with a CMS.
Integrate it in your existing code, or better yet.. Develop your theme for wordpress. That way, everything is in place and your login system is already there.
Here is a tutorial:

Thanks for the source, like the clean code! Mine is always messy until I manage to tidy up at the end.
By the way, have you thought of implementing the HTML5 standard (or soon to be standard)?
Over all this looks good. Did you manage to write a login?
Also, I have an idea, do you use jQuery?
There is a nice 'slider' plugin to the framework which could be styled for login box so it could look Xperia S style lockscreen.
If im not too busy I will try do it in spare time. But its fairly easy given that all the images can be obtained.

HTML5 honestly I haven't even looked into and I don't have enough spare time to learn it:/
I'm writing a login system now but I didn't want to release the source because it has no register, no session, no control panel, and no admin panel. And I don't like to release what isn't a full feature.
WordPress is probably my next step or a custom CMS because I love to have my own feeling to the CMS and not go based on a public one.
And if you can get the idea working for the login, I'm down with it just pm me, post it (wouldn't recommend), or send me a message on xfire: kilerbunny89. I'll make sureyou get the credit aswell I won't just steal your thunder

ICS SMS is a replacement for the stock Messaging app, for those that want the vanilla Holo theme, with or without stock ICS. Currently only supports SMS (Sorry no MMS yet guys!) and aims to provide a minimalistic SMS app, that fits in with the rest of the Ice-Cream Sandwich look and feel.
This app is still in beta, and being actively developed on (unfortunately its not my day job though) so bear this in mind with any feedback!
Download it now from the play store!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androidproductions.ics.sms
Any bug reports you have PLEASE attach a logcat of whats going on - it makes the whole process a lot easier!
Any feature requests stick them in a reply here, or get in touch direct, and I'll see about getting it included!
Features
usual messaging features - Wouldn't be a messaging app without one!
POPUP DIALOG!
Customizable notifications
6 Different themes
Ability to disable other messaging notifications (NOTE: This doesn't always play well with GoSMS)
Notification Privacy Mode - Don't display a received message in notifications
'In reply to...' - See what the last message you sent to a person was - straight from the dialog
Call direct from SMS view
SMS Forwarding
Willing to do some more involved testing? Send me a PM, and I'll add you to the list of testers that get development versions of the app before it gets put into the market.

Outside of a few bugs I am pleasantly suprised by this. Obviously Mms support is a huge must, all these new beta messaging apps coming out also miss Mms support so if you want to beat the rush you better work on that quick. Other than that, using the ics framework background that you do, isnt so nice with the new theme engines as whatever background your using gets some interesting themeing images sometimes.
As a praise im loving the pop up, its almost exactly what im looking for the only thing I would like more is if it it was stretched out to full edge of screen but less width and lifted to the top, like miuis pop up. All the pop up add ons are in the middle nowadays except miui's and miui's does it right.
I also LOVE your in reply too button, being able to see the last thing I said real quick is freaking awesome!
Love the idea of being able to do a quick reply for the pop up instead of pressing reply in order to reply. But it could be better if it could sync the contact pictures (facebook) or maybe have a widget for the app.
man can u make a stock ics messaging theme. i really like the app cant wait till it has mms support
Mms is definitely the most requested feature, so that's the next thing that's going to appear in the app. Only problem is that I can't test it myself with my phone plan, so I will have to rely on others for testing. Mms viewing will be the first release, and sending will be second.
Thanks for all the feedback so far! Glad to see its appreciated.

just wish you could control font size for near sighted people.
Good, But missing mms and Facebook contact photo sync. Theme and extra features are new otherwise identical feature wise to tim hutts version on market, of which I like the light theme better myself. Also lacks feature of clicking on contact picture in thread to bring up their contact info. I don't care for it but I did notice. Reading white on a black background hurts my eyes. In the theme could you maybe give a light or dark option? At least in thread view, in thread select dark is fine. Maybe consider doing that nice striped background from the aosp dialer or holomusic on background of thread select?
I love devs that keep up on their work and I hope you are working diligently to get mms at least working.
Thanks!

Id love to test it for you, my brother and I live together and both have unlimited messaging and plenty of data to spare, we both have gnexus and both are rooted so we are damn similar except he uses go sms. I can be the sender or receiver at any time and actually be using the network or wifi. Send me a PM
Edit- the Themes only seem to theme the receiver text and the text in the conversation list. Its nice for someone who doesnt use a custom theme engine but for the most part is a lil outdated, I would suggest opening up a cm9/7 theme engine apk and using the included framework info there so that, your sms app themes with the theme engine, a first since the included sms default app only has like 10% ability to be themed (NOTE - it already does this at like 60%, it just needs alot of clean up so that all themes make it look wonderful). Maybe add this as an option right along with the holo themes you have? Also the pop ups need a Mark as read button so that the Notification will clear from the status bar. And as mentioned before, the worst thing that can happen for a pop up is to pop up right in the middle of everything, move it up and out of the way, and if this is possible, when in landscape mode make it wrap to the top and left borders? I dont know any system that does that, and it moves itself the most out of the way from say a movie or something that your watching on the phone.
Looks great, I just wish it supported MMS but I will definitely use it when it does!

This and emoji. Nice work!
Just downloaded it and played with it for a bit. So far, it's looking pretty good!
I know it's still being worked on, but here's a couple feature suggestions:
1) Ability to add multiple contacts to recipients. I send "mass" texts all the time, whether it be to 2 people or 20 people.
2) Ability to set a ring tone or vibration for the notification.
Great start though! Can't wait for mms to be built in, and to see the progression of this app!
Using the included phone dialer if I tell it go to SMS it force closes and if I use ex dialer then it goes to a new SMS for existing names. The difference being ex dialer sends it with parentheses and a dash and your SMS app doesn't include those when looking up numbers

ok cool stuff
Currently on AOKP, because... I dunno I wanted to see what r4ins was working with and it's a bit smoother than Paranoid. I have a blanket DPI of 180 with a market that fixes DPI incompatibility so no need to switch back yet.
However I do love Paranoid (great job gs2user) so I remember my settings.
Tablet UI (small) although to be honest the phone styled notification center is better
Status bar 185
Lockscreen 180
Default apps to 185
Calendar and email look the best in Tablet mode. I changed settings back to phone UI.

I thought I'd add my own configuration preferences to this thread. I love this ROM. I've tried going back to other ROMS here and there but everything just seems prehistoric to me with their setups. The fact that this ROM gives you the ability to use the phone like a tablet is awesome. The user interface is perfect for my particular needs / wants. Not to mention the ROM is quick and smooth. This ROM is meant to be the slimmest ROM possible built on top of Sense. I've tried to strip out everything that isn't needed to reduce it down to the minimum amount. I've also made it a mix between GE/AOSP and Sense. To help get maximum battery (and better looks imo) I've swapped the SystemUI.apk out to tyler's GE on Sense SystemUI.apk.
I'm also trying to set it up so both GE and Sense apps can be used and you can choose which you want.
Every app which works on the stock HTC one firmware works fine here.
Currently as the ROM stands it is:
Under 400MB (it's about 380MB).
Uses Trebuchet launcher from CM
Stripped out a bunch of Sense/HTC Bloatware (pretty much anything i found non-essential)
Uses AOSP Lockscreen (auto unlocks for calls, allows widgets)
Has both HTC Camera/Gallery and GE Camera/Gallery
Has both HTC Clock and GE Clock
The only google app installed by default is the playstore, as the rest can be downloaded from it
Known Bugs
After completing the Setup you need to open settings -> click mobile data -> Access Point Names-> and then select your APN
3G/LTE/4G Icons do not show, you still get LTE (you may need to download an App from playstore to enable LTE, any that let you access the phone settings should work such as this one)
Only the GE Phone Works (It makes and receives calls fine)Sense Phone can't place calls (the app fully functions but doesn't make calls, need to find a way to fix this still, if anyone knows how to please let me know)
Currently battery percentage in the status bar isn't working
Feel free to ask any quests/indicate any bugs and i'll try looking into them when I get time.
Version 1.1 Fixed the bug where when incoming calls were answered nobody could be heard

To hide duplicate the icon from your app drawer, open the drawer, click the menu overflow, click trebuchet settings, click drawer, and then click hide apps. The duplicates exist to give a choice between Sense and GE versions

It's not a zip. It's just part of the rom. It's already been setup.
Yes this I know, but I whant know where do you have find this mod, because I'm trying to remove the Sense lockscreen but with cLock,Chronus etc doesn't work!

I did it myself, I didn't find it.
Going to load this up over the weekend. Any chance of working in the CM10 theming framework at some point or is that not possible when based on Sense?

Xtheme Engine themes work with GE
This is exactly what i do with any Sense ROM i install anyway. I go to Titanium backup and spend a half hour uninstalling all the crap thats not needed to strip it right down so that the only things left that HTC stuff are the IR blaster since i lost the remote to my TV, and the camera functionality. I always use the codex sound mod instead of beats anyhow too. This awesome! Perfect!
Does it use stock kernel?
Been running for a day now and haven't found anything wrong with this. Works great. Will run a little longer to report on battery life. So far I'm enjoying the experience. If we could just get everything in the status bar working that'll be great. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Yeah I've been somewhat busy and been unable to look into it. I'll have some time tomorrow and will hopefully fix it then.
The "can't make phone calls" bug seems like a pretty big one.

Flashed this 5 min ago, did a test call to my girlfriend's phone, it was ringing.
But yeah, I think I finally might have found the Rom I'm sticking with. Excellent work.
If I can make one possible request for the future. GE MMS instead of sense. ?

Edit; it does have the aosp bug where you can't hear the caller after you answer, so you have to call back.

You can;t make calls from the Sense Dialer. You need to use the GE one which is included.

All you have to do is use the AOSP dialer. Works fine from there.

Cool, that will be stock then.
Is there anyway to get Swedish Lang for the keyboard? Thanks in advance

Ugh.. I was super hyped about this ROM until I read this. I have too many people call me and this wouldn't be cool at all.
There is no known fix for this? I cant imagine everyone using CM would be cool with this issue.
Need to keep this alive.
Anyone else confirm the call bug? So the sense dialer doesn't work.. i could care less about that. Just as long as the GE dialer is there and takes calls.
