Desire S bricked maybe? - HTC Desire S

Hello,
I'm in a bit of a situation with my Desire S at the moment...
I was trying to restore the original RUU onto it after rooting it, however after several things, my phone will no longer boot up into the OS, and the HTC logo stays around.
My phone is currently S-ON, HBOOT-0.98.0002, RADIO-3805.06.02.03_M
I've tried to S-OFF it again using the revolutionary tool whilst having it in fastboot mode, with no luck .
Any help and suggestions will be appreciated

RUU to a higher, correct version/region for your phone

I've tried to apply the RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed.exe update again but I get a signature verification error...

Which rom had you before start with this?

Read 2nd post again. This time make sure you understand. If you have a GoldCard, you have a lesser problem.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app

I've tried using a gold card, with my phone S-OFF at the time, and used the correct RUU file I needed (RUU_Saga_TMO_UK_1.30.110.2...) but it would get 15 minuits into the installation and complain about the bootloader version being incorrect. This was when I had verion 1.47.110... installed and I couldn't find that version of the RUU anyway.
Fast-forwarding to yesterday, I found an RUU with Android 2.3.5 on it (RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5), and this installed perfectly. Despite it being the world-wide-english version instead of UK only, it works and I'm settling with it.

[Q] HTC Sensation Stock ROM Needed

So yeah,I accidentally deleted my backup of my stock ROM, from what I know and have been reading I cant pull a stock ROM from another sensation and put it on mine. From my research I figure I'm screwed but if anyone knows of anyway to revert or download a stock ROM it would be much appreciated. Thx
Can anyone help a brotha out?

Have you gone into recovery mode, pull the battery out, put it back in and hold the volume down button along with the power button. Then factory reset the phone I believe?
Yea, that's the first thing I did after backing everything up. Still kept the same custom ROM and kernal. I guess I could just break it and get a new one lol
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Without knowing the ROM you were on it's impossible to know which yours was. Might be able to suggest something if you haven't changed your cid yet tho

So those ROMs dont work for some reason, its an application that can't connect to my phone, if there's a stock ROM that I can flash that would be a lot better. Also idk how to check my CID or I would let you know, thanks for all the help tho guys. If anyone knows of anything else that could work please let me know
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
To check CID, make sure you have adb installed and reboot the phone into FASTBOOT. Then type:
fastboot getvar cid
With your phone connected to your PC and it'll tell you your CID
Once you have it post it up and we'll see what we can do from there
hi guys, i´m afraid that i have same problem as heist206 :/ but i´m also afraid, that i had my cid rewrited to 11111111...there´s not any help for me, is it?all i know about my previous ROM is, that i had HBOOT 1.18.0000
It'll be any of the 1.45 RUUs then but again, couldn't tell you which
Seems no one does any research before flashing their phones
if you are on the 1.8 hboot, s-off, and it will change it back to 1.7 hboot then you can re write the cid and flash the stock rom after getting the correct one.. if all else fails just use the a cid from the list with no branding specific in the file name
Unfortunately I didn´t expected, that I´ll need it...i foung only one 1.45 for Europe, is it possible, that it will be this one? a need it becouse i have to complain my phone...it is truning off without any reason...
Help
Hey,
I rooted my phone and simply forgot to back it up. -I know, stupid of me, was my first time rooting-
I am trying to unroot it, but I'm simply not succeeding.
I am from Holland, and I got a Vodafone HTC Sensation.
My CID is VODAPE17
My radio-10.14.9035.01_M
HBOOT-1.17.1111
I can't seem to find a RUU for my device....
I have tried nearly all the Europe RUU's, but none work.
I could really use some help, if someone is able to give it.
Freek

If you used the HTC Dev method to unlock your device, then it is not going to say S-off as it does not fully unlock your device. The below quote is straight from GPS HTC Dev site.
Why is my security still on (S-On) after I have unlocked my bootloader?
Your device is shipped with Security on (S-ON) to protect your system software configuration (such as the bootloader, radio, boot, recovery, system and others). After you have unlocked the bootloader, however, you will have lifted the restrictions on boot, recovery and system. This means you can customize boot, recovery and system images on your phone as you desire. You can easily see that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader by looking at the top of the screen when entering the bootloader screen. Security is left on to protect things like the radio, and SIM lock.

You may be using the wrong method to soff. Try Juopuntbear, This is for bootloader version 1.27.*** and above. Read carefully and understand before you jump in to it!
When you make a post like this you need to give more information such as boot version. Make and model of your phone, etc.

HTC DESIRE S stuck at HTC White screen after flash Plese help!

Hi all,
I just tried flashing miui 2.4.20 to an HTC DESIRE S.
1)Before doing so, I unlocked the bootloader using HTC Dev tool
2)Rooted using superclick tool
3)Installed CWM Recovery using fastboot
and then flashed the rom....it won't go any further than the white HTC screen on reboot even though it looks like the flash is successful. I tried reflashing several times with no luck can someone please help?
EDIT:Just realised that I had to flash the boot.img using fastboot...problem solved.
Is there a way to make the Desire S completely unlocked so that I can flash using cwm without the need of fastboot?

Yes. You need to downgrade your hboot, there are guides for this in the general section, you'll need to find a compatible ruu, get back to stock rom and then use revolutionary to S-Off

I have flashed many devices(Desire, Desire S, HD2, HD and One X) a hundred of times because I am a beta tester. So I know the ins and outs of flashing. But this time I need your help guys.
I have unlocked my Desire S (Hboot is 2.00.0002, S-ON, Radio 3822.10.50.24_M)
flashed TWRP recovery
flashed Viper Saga 2.1.3 JB
flashed boot.img
And the Rom booted and installed. All fine so far.
Now I want to install a different ROM.
Flashed the new PACman JB_2.2_v22 ROM, and boot.img. But this time I got stuck at white screen. So I tried CWM recovery and even 4EXT. Flashed Rom and its boot.img again. No luck. Stuck at white screen every time.
But now the weirdest. At the end I flashed TWRP recovery, Viper Rom and its boot.img again. And damn, I'm stuck at the white screen again.
Also weird is that I am not able to flash an official RUU after unlocking the bootloader again. When plugging in the device I can start the RUU installation proces. But during the sending firmware proces, the phone screen remains black with HTC on it for hours. So I had to remove the cable and boot the phone into bootloader again.
It looks like something is blocking these two processes.
Any ideas? I searched through XDA and on the internet. The only thing I can find to solve the white screen with green HTC is flashing boot.img. But that is not the issue.
The problem and sollution with the RUU installation, I haven't seen at all yet.
Hope somebody could point me in the right direction.

To flash an ruu you need to lock your bootloader. As for the other issue do you know what panel your phone has, it's not an issue on sense roms and only becomes apparent in jb roms. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943524

Thanks for your reply.
Yes I've locked my phone again before installing the RUU. Made no sense. I've tried 2 WWE RUUs both with the same issue.
What panel I have I really don't know. Viper is sense. Worked om first flash. But after flashing PACman, the boot issues started. Now even Viper is not booting anymore.
I check the thread you posted. Will try the kernels. See what is happening.
EDIT: flashing these kernels do not work, because I'm S-ON. Need boot.image.

I'd start fresh, make sure your unlocked, check the drivers are installed correctly (are you on win 8, if so check post two of link in my sig) format all but sd in 4ext, flash rom (sense rom to start) flash kernel. Your obviously no noob but sometimes we miss the obvious. I'm around for a bit so report back

[PROBLEM] RUU ICS update stops

I have encountered a problem when I try to update my HTC from Android 2.3.3 to ICS with HTC:s official RUU.
The phone was before rooted and S-OFF with revolutionary. I followed a video guide on youtube to make it S-ON again and installed a RUU which gave me Android 2.3 and Sense 2.1 I believe. After that I let the phone upgrade itself to 2.3.3 through HTC:s OTA.
Then I executed the ICS RUU europe version. At the first things looked OK. The program recognized the phone and the update started. Radio update went well and then it halted with the program standing at "sending..." (this I believe, is just before the actual update).
I had to pull out the USB-cable and remove the battery to turn on the phone again (which now was freezed at the HTC logo with the black background). Luckily it was no problem to boot the OS again. But of course it was still Android 2.3.3.
But when I boot into the bootloader it sais ***RELOCKED*** and H-BOOT 2.02.0002, look at the attached image.
I have tried several times to make the update again on different computers with different Windows versions but no luck. The latest HTC sync version is installed and I can no longer come up with ideas that takes the progress futher.
I little thing disturbs me though... Can my problem have something to do with the bootloader saing ***RELOCKED***?
Please help me
Hello,
Have you try to do the flash of your Desire S in Fastboot Mode ?
very strange
Rebooting to fastboot first didn´t make any difference.
Rom update utility still stops at sending. See attached picture.
What if I downgrade to an older H-BOOT?
The RUU update should take about 10-15mins and most often times stuck at sendibg. Just ket your phobe RUU itself for a 30mins and see if there's any change. If not. Try downgrading to least version then RUU to ICS

Already tried to leave the phone for about 30 minutes.
You mean, downgrade to the oldest RUU?
Skickat från min HTC Desire S via Tapatalk 2
download oldest one from here.
Sigh...
Then I have to go through the downgrade process again
How did you get on? I've got 2 Desire S's here with the same symptoms.
Finally solved!!
I have finally solved this issue with the update not going to the phone by simply using another PC running Windows XP.
I had a similar problem going to FroYo so Windows 7 doesn't seem to like HTC for some reason.

[SOLVED] Updated an S-Off Desire S with an official ICS

Hi,
Ok so I guess the problem is that I installed an official RUU on an S-OFF Desire S device. But that is my guess :crying:
After the installation was complete, there was a black screen on the device (with some minor back-light), and it was just stuck on it.
I removed the battery after a while and tried to Turn On the phone, and it showed the white HTC logo, then went to the Black Screen with a little bit of back-light. And stuck.
I can enter HBOOT, but in HBOOT I can't go to Recovery, when I try it gives me the black screen.
I can't mount USB or use Android Flash or adb because the device isn't recognized (Yes yes i have all the drivers and software),
it actually IS recognized by the PC, but not as something that can be manipulated.
I can't do Factory Reset, I tried, it gives me the Red Triangle. and nothing...
I don't think the phone is bricked, because HBOOT is working, and I can install stuff from it if I change it to P88IMG.ZIP.
Is there a chance there is a way to restore a recovery that I made with Clockwork and saved on my PC?
I've been searching this forum and the internet for many hours and can't find the answer.
Thank you up-front for any help!

I'm not sure which step you are speaking of.
My DesireS IS perfectly S-OFF.
I am saying this may have caused the problem, because I was installing official RUU ICS on a S-OFF device.

Look at your HBOOT now. Does it still say S-OFF?
Don't assume, LOOK.
Your guess is wrong, there's nothing bad in installing RUU on S-OFF device - only that if you've achieved S-OFF through a hacked bootloader (opposed to "true" S-OFF by XTC-Clip), you will return to S-ON.

What is your HBOOT version?
The most probable explanation is that RUU install never completed properly.
HBOOT Version is 6.98.1002
Note that I tried installing a version of the ROM for S-OFF devices, from HBOOT, and it goes through the installation perfectly but nothing changes.
I also tried installing the official RUU again from PC and it doesn't recognize the device. :banghead:

1) this hboot has write protection and cannot be replaced by RUU (that's why I always recommend to replace it immediately after using Revolutionary, just in case something goes wrong)
2) this hboot supports the old partition layout and has no separate /system/lib partition which is required by the official ICS. This is the reason it is not booting for you
How to solve: flash this bootloader. The system will boot fine after that. If there are issues clear the cache with the command
Code:
fastboot erase cache
