[Q] rom n bootloader/kernal confusion

hey i'm coming from using moto milestone n i'm really confused abt something
since there was no custom kernal for milestone
1) when i root my phone do i unlock the bootloader also ?
2) when i install a rom which says it has a kernal so tht means when i flash it the custom kernal flashes as well on its own ?
3) if i install a rom n then i want another kernal, do i flash it the same way ?
1. Bootloader need to be unlocked in order to root and install custom roms.
2. Each rom comes with a kernel but you can flash other kernels on it.
3. Flashing a new rom will wipe your kernel to a stock one which comes with the rom. But you can reflash any kernel on it.
So basically unlock bootloader> root> install clockworkmod> make backup> install rom> flash kernel> install different rom> reflash favorite kernel again.

[Q] Chacha bricked - need help please

Hello so i was flashing a custom rom to my htc chacha (isnt the first time) but i dont know what happened now.after i installed the rom in cwm, NOW the phone just boots into bootloader, scans the SD card , and then just freezes..i cant move using the vol. keys or choose fastboot using the power button. Also it shows **locked** above..
Originally the phone had fw number 1.23.502.1 (cingular usa )
Now i was flashing this
Android version 2.3.5 - build (1.57.415.3)
i think i said no after i flashed the unlock token , and the i rooted and installed the rom ? i dont really know .. any ideas ?
i was wondering if i could put update zip in the sd card for the bootloader to scan and install ?
Thanks in advance
"Locked above" means that your bootloader is locked.
Yes i think something went wrong through-out the unlocking process but i did go into cwm and installed the root and the custom rom ... and now this is what i've got.. what do u think i couldd do now ?

[Q] how to flash cwm in xperia e using odin??

guyz..i want to flash cwm on my xperia e C1505.
i dont want to go into bootloops again..( i have flashed it b4,facing bootloops )..is there any method to flash cwm using odin flashtool..
i have my nandroid bckup..
phone : xperia e C1505
root status : yes
unlocked bootloader : no
First you have to unlock the bootloader and then flash cwm if you did not unlock the bootloader you will surely get bootloops and I dont know about odin and if you faces bootloops you should flash you phone's firmware via flashtool.
Thank me if I helped you.

Odin is for Samsung devices.
you have to use flashtool.
cwm for Xperia e on a locked bootloader is currently not available.
you need to unlock your bootloader, and then if you face a bootloop you can flash stock firmware.
and then when it's done flash cwm kernel
xperia e bootloop

i did the proces(which u said) before...i faved bootloops...and from many researches in xda,i recovered my cell, now i dont wanna make my phone dead again..!!
hit thanks button..be helpful..!!
thanks,it workedd:laugh:
... i'm also a C1505 user and i have already used cwm on this device succesfully. Odin is for samsung devices but if you 'really' want cwm here is what i can suggest you to do to unlock bl (i did not face any bootloops on my first attempt to unlock the bootloader(is that luck?)).
1. back-up files, photos...
2. make sure that your C1505 is 11.3.A.2.23 and PC companion is installed and running, and you have flashtool ready on your desktop.
3. follow this thread for unlocking the bootloader (this was the one i used).
if you still face bootloops, you could repair it by using PC companion or downloading a 11.3.A.2.23 .ftf then flashing by using adroxydes flastool
i hope this helpsss.

Don't worry if you face bootloops, you can always flash stock firmware to fix them. I flashed CWM with adb via command line and it's perfect. Installed CM10 1.1.0 and works fine. PM if you want it

As far as i know any tampering with a handset either by methods of software or hardware will void all warranty from the manufacture.
But if they cant tell whats been done no harm no fool !
But i would check to see if by flashing a different rom it will increase your flash counter
