Hello everyone,
I'm currently thinking about buying a new tablet (I've already tried the first galaxy tab and the transformer) and I found a nice deal (in France) for the Xoom 2 Media Edition.
Would you recommend the media edition for 265$ (in fact it's 265€ but since 1$=1€ for all the manufacturers...) ? I mean I know the xoom 2 is not a big improvement upon the first version but do you think this is a good deal ?
Also it doesn't seem that the community is interested in the xoom 2. I fear that there won't be any custom rom or any other work done on this table. Am I correct ?
Thanks for your responses !
The problem is that it doesn't appear to be unlockable and rootable at this time, so no development. If you don't care about that, go for it. If you want to tinker and customize, get an original Xoom. ICS (Android 4.0.3) builds are already here! Awesome!
Hi,
So i have a xoom 2 media edition (uk version) .. cant seem to find much out about rooting/unlocking the bootloader.
does anyone know the status on this ?
sorry to post here, but doesnt seem to be a xoom 2 section yet
me too
got myself one too.
MODs, please create XOOM2/ME forum, especially because Xoom2 and Xoom2ME is based on different chipset (non-tegra, and none of the Xoom1 tricks works on it)
For now, the tablet's bootloader is non-unlockable, all root exploits i have found fail.
I suspect after (if at all) the bootloader is unlocked, some of the Galaxy Nexus tricks will work.
On topic, this tablet urgently needs root because motorola in its [motocast promotion] ingenuity locked firewall ports 80,8080,21 etc. on the tablet... so no FileXpert web/ftp sharing, no samba, no way to access files directly.
got one too
Yeah got one today as well and interest a custom ROM as well also quick question to ask, can you add micro sd card and if yes how? and when using Swype is anybody experience very bad lag?
No sd card slot on xoom 2 - although the cover is there
Cheers zonyx I thought that but on the instructions inside the box it tells.you to take out the placholders and put a sd card in but 16GB should be fine

yeah, i read the same - even the sim card slot is there also.
its a bit of a downer though that motorola couldnt even be bothered to just completely seal the case
Agree with zeer, could a mod create a sub section for xoom 2 and xoom 2 me?
Maybe one is enough as they both seems to have same hardware.
Who do with need to contact to get a new sub catagory
I believe the ME and Xoom 2 are the same hardware just different screen sizes
If anyone needs any system info etc... I can put my ME up for testing

I agree. IMHO Xoom 2 ME is the best android tablet available that money can buy (i.e. not including Transformer Prime) but pre-installed software sucks. I have no idea how motorola have managed to decrease the performance by so much but root and CM9 would make this pieace of hardware what it should have been by delivery
xoom2 forum plz ... The tablet is very good .great size (the reason i bought it ) great screen , very good built quality , speakers and camera . Needs update to ics and root access .. The price in europe is good if you compare it with other tegra 2 devices but in few months ti omap processor will be outdated ...
I took my xoom 2 me back, it suffered from awful lag on the browser and WiFi kept disconnecting, maybe a bad build but didn't want to risk it with another maybe ics will solve these but got the HTC flyer for half the price and its a lot better and more responsive with GB on as well
But on a positive I agree the sound quality is very good

Hello i just bought my xoom2 from uk
Hello,
I`m new to the Forum, but a reader since a little while.
I have bought a Xoom 2 Media Edition too from UK, and can only say I like it pretty much sofar.
Hope that ICS 4.0 will come soon.
Is there any knowledge at all if a root hack might be possible and when ?
Many thanks for any kind of input or links at all.
Have been googling around for hours but didn't find anything usable...
EDIT: The Fact of the lacking Storage is really annoying (no USB or SD) but that Motorola blocked the Ports mentioned really sucks. I will contact the Motorola Support for this, after failing to make a ftp connection work for hours ....
Cheers & Greetings
Mark
Hi,
I have some blinking texts (and also small blinking squares) sometimes in the market for example.
Entering text in the browser (like what I'm currently doing on xda) is very laggy (with default keyboard and default browser) every striked key takes a little time to display.
Also, the green pointer used to move the cursor and the cursor himself are not well aligned.
Do you also have these issues?
moderators can you create a xoom2 forum please we need it .....
I do notice a little lag from keyboard... I dont use mouse on mine at the moment.
Swiftkey is bit better...
ive put a post on the suggestion thread about a xoom 2 sub forum.

Hi,
I've made a video of freezes I have in fruit ninja (it's only an example, I have the same thing in other games, and many other problems previously described here).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xi8_oKDp3Q (look for example at 0:12, 0:18, 0:29, 0:43, 0:46, ...)
before making this video I have hard reseted my tablet and the only app installed after the reset was fruit ninja.
do you have the same behaviour or mine is defective?
Hello, my friends.
I bought xoom 2 ME also.
1. USB host does not work.
2. no sd card
3. I have light spots on border on dark background
4. 16 hours in standby mode (wifi- off, all applications were closed)
Have you any suggestions?
1. I haven't tried yet, I'll test as soon as I receive my cable
2. like every xoom2 ME
3. I also see these light spots on black screens, it seems like it's normal.
4. You surely have a running app eating your cpu/battery, look in battery usage if you see something, I do not have this problem.
I am not an Android developer, so please be gentle if I get some terminology wrong.
I've read about the ability to make a microSD card for the Nook Tablet and Nook Color that lets you boot into CM7 or Miui or CM9 without modifying the device's onboard OS or firmware. Is that possible for the GT-P6210?
I ask because I'm interested in exploring Android with root access, but I'm not at all sure that I want to risk modifying my device's internals. TIA.

In theory, I believe it would be possible.
But seeing as how Samsung hasn't fully released source/driver code for our device, we are at a stand still with CM/MIUI development. Also, our community is scarce with Dev support as well, making this feat that much harder to accomplish.

Coming from a Nook Color myself, I miss having that ability. I ran CM7 off of a SanDisk uSD card for a long time on it. I would be doing the same with the Nook Tablet if B&N hadn't decided to lock the bootloader (I returned mine before people worked around that).
Ceelos09 is right that this should be possible on the Plus. It appears that the bootloader is not only unlocked but can be completely replaced. I discovered this the hard way by being forced to mess with ODIN Mode.
It's a shame that the Plus isn't receiving more developer attention. The 16GB WiFi version was/is available for $50 more than the Nook Tablet and its hardware is so much better IMO (faster CPU, bluetooth, 5ghz wifi, HDMI out with dock/adapter, unlocked bootloader, ODIN Mode, ...). Except for the worse WiFi range than the NC, I'm very happy with this tablet.
I'm quite happy with the GT7+ too, except for the incredibly annoying headphone low level volume fluctuation bug that remains to be officially acknowledged by Samsung.
Also Switched From NC
After recently switching to the Gal 7+ from My NC, I, also miss that flexibility to experiment at low risk, by running an OS off the MicroSD (I used both CM7 & 9 on my NC); but I love my GT 7!!.
Being able to do the same thing with the GT 7+ would be an outstanding asset to an already feature rich, quality tablet. The more I use my stock "7+" the more impressed I am. The NC is nice; but having a microphone, bluetooth and more power, makes the GT 7 much more functional for me. (And the fact that we should soon be getting ICS is just another plus).
Hi Guys,
I purchased 3 tablets over the last year and they were all supposedly "NATPC X210" tablets from the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AKYZ6R
The first was sold by: BE Tablets and the "About tablet" looks like: http://i.imgur.com/4zBFegd.png We'll call this Tablet 1 for £88.04 on the 10 February 2014
The second was sold by: Tablet Traders and the "About tablet" looks like: http://i.imgur.com/qmu9wPj.png We'll call this Tablet 2 for £89.99 on the 14 February 2014
The third was sold by: GadetsFair and the "About tablet" looks like: http://i.imgur.com/0UHC4pH.jpg We'll call this Tablet 3 for £62.95 on the 18 June 2014
Tablet 1 and Tablet 2 look identical in terms of physical appearance, tablet 3 looks nearly identical with the exception of it only has 1 MicroUSB port where as the other two tablets have 2 MicroUSB ports.
I've been looking around I've managed to work out that Tablet 3 appears to be a Crypto Novapad S104. Firstly, I could do with some help properly identifying the tablets because they definitely aren't all NATPC X210 tablets.
TABLET 1 and 2 Downsides:
- Both tablets came WITHOUT root (I want root!)
- Both tablets came with different firmwares so there is no consistency between them.
- Both tablets have issues finding certain apps on the Play Store...
- Both tablets have different pre-installed apps
- Both tablets have different appearances (See: http://i.imgur.com/eckPZpJ.jpg)
- Both tablets have different soft-key layouts. (See: http://i.imgur.com/eckPZpJ.jpg)
- Both tablets have an update checker but the update checker fails to work.
- Both tablets show the mobile signal signal strength as no signal (the tablet doesn't have any phone support so it should be disabled. (See: http://i.imgur.com/eckPZpJ.jpg)
- Both tablets have an ugly looking options drop down (top right) (wrong dpi or something) (See: http://i.imgur.com/eckPZpJ.jpg)
TABLET 1 and 2 Ups:
- Has two MicroUSB ports
Tablet 3 Downsides:
- Has one MicroUSB port.
- Has no update checker.
Tablet 3 Ups:
- Comes with root (However, I contacted CryptoTablets and they said that they don't come with root, he might have got it wrong I don't know.)
- Can access all of the apps on the Android store (as far as I can find)
- Has Ethernet support in Settings. (See: http://imgur.com/Bqz4Mdh)
- Has a much more refined UI with the dpi's set correctly.(top right looks much better) (See: http://imgur.com/Bqz4Mdh)
- Has a better softkey layout (See: http://imgur.com/Bqz4Mdh)
- Has a no mobile network signal, disabled because it doesn't support phone networks. (See: http://imgur.com/Bqz4Mdh)
I e-mailed CryptoTablets to try and get the firmware zipfile from them so that I could flash the same ROM that's on Tablet 3 onto Tablet 1 and Tablet 2 but they said "Our tablets are not rooted and any updates are performed in our service center, You need to send the device to us." which is obviously not acceptable for me :/
Secondly I want them all to have the same ROM on them WITH root... does anyone know if there are any custom ROMS out there that could be used?
I could really do with some help with them :/
Hi,
I suggest you ask here for help,
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
And unless they are indeed the same models... If there are roms, you won't be able to use the same rom. You need to only flash roms made for each specific device, or you could be in real trouble.
Good luck!

Aestheticallly they look pretty identical and they supposedly have the same processor, ram...etc. How can I 100% correctly check the processor and stuff?

You need to ask in the link I gave. We only point the way here. ?
I have a Samsung GT 2 7" (p3110) and i am a bit disappointed with the way things are working. I have rooted the tablet and i have managed do optimize it a bit but it still burns through the battery like crazy.
In any case... here are my questions:
1. I know there are no "best" roms and it is all up to the user, however, what would you recommend for a user that watches movies, plays some games and surfs the internet?
2. Changing the version of the Android OS will optimize performance?
3. Are there any stock Roms that have only the basics installed (no crapware) and will allow me to install whatever i need without having to worry about performance?
Thanks and i am looking forward for your response.
1. izerHD has good quality for audio etc, btw currently only for p3100
2. yes
3. indeed izerHD has sony apps crapware, so you might like slimkat, the slimest rom for now.
