I'll start !
No more Adobe Flash-Player for Android >=4.1.
Tho I like that decision, it might suck for some people that visit websites which use alot of Flash.

Not a problem for me, but yeah, some will not like that too much....
I guess it's pretty stupid to make it incompatible. Why cannot they just leave it put by default and let it work with other browsers of the user chooses to download it from Play?

Chrome as a default browser is GREAT.
They'll definitely put a lot of effort to it and make it even better with shorter release cycles and so forth.

Jelly Bean source comes out in July.
Had someone with a Nexus that already had JellyBean on it and he gave me a demonstration of "Google Now". Never was that interested in the whole Siri thing but I have to say I was damned impressed. And now I know how tall Mt. Everest is too!
Very, VERY Excited for Jellybean. I used to have a nexus and literally sold it 2 days before jellybean came out for it (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY) but I am content for now with ice cream sandwich. Jellybean is really nice, my friend has my old nexus and let me try out all of the new features, our phone is still faster though.

My guess is, that Google will implement Flash into Chrome, maybe even as a system-app.
Google said that they'll support and keep developing Flash for Chrome(Linux-Version)

is that really gonna to happen? so what will happen when we visit sites that have flash (which many do)?
sounds like android wants to become IOS?
Based on the little material I have read
4.1 Change log
.chrome as default
.adobe flash removed
.Smoother ui (butter)
.secure face unlock
.scrollable notifications
.disable notifications feature.
.google voice search/now (Replace search button)siri
.improved home screen customization
.google play content update.
.NFC update.
Correct me if I'm wrong or missed something

As I understood it, Adobe will leave the app in the store, they just won't optimize/develop it any further. And as I said in my earlier post, Google will keep developing Flash Player for Linux as a plugin for Chrome. So my guess is, that they will implement it in their Chrome-App.
Flash always sucked in perfomance and had security issues all the way. HTML5 is the way to go. We just gotta hope that more and more websites will support HTML5 instead of lame Flash Player.

Maybe flash is just integrated
Flash player is going to go away in the future anyways, it's all going towards html5. You're going to start seeing more html5 and less flash on the internet.

I agree, Adobe decided to kill flash. Google has no reason to keep flash alive. Don't you think Chrome would already support Flash if they were going to?

thanks for the information, i feel more relieved
Ahh the long months before we get a glimpse of Jelly Bean on our device...
So how is this going to work?
The JB source will be released in July, right? Can modders start building full, working ROM's after that or do they need something more? What? Do we need something from HTC?
The system dump or anythin' like that isn't enough for a fully working ROM, AFAIK - right?
Dunno about making ROM's like... anything
Thanks for everyone who dedicate their time for this!!

the jb developer kit is already available for download from google, the ota updates will begin for the nexus line in july. The ability to create a aosp rom is already available. I believe we already have some devs working on a kernel.
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I am new to the One S picture. The Ville will be getting JB, correct? I'm guessing it is, but just a matter of when.

"It's our belief that you'll see an Android-based version of Flash in the coming months," said Anup Murarka, director of technical marketing for mobile and devices at Adobe.
For those eagerly waiting to watch online videos on phone, this should bring a smile on your face. Adobe, ARM and Qualcomm have teamed-up to bring Flash to all phones running ARM11 and faster processors. Devices with at least 200 MHz processors, more than around 16 Mbytes of RAM and a "completely capable Web browser" will be able to render Web-based Flash content, Murarka said.
This was announced as part of Open Screen Project which aims to get Flash on every imaginable mobile device. Adobe will announce the project at the Max Developers Conference where it will also demonstrate Flash on an ARM smartphone.
Other partners in Open Screen Project like Samsung and NVIDIA are already working to support Flash. “NVIDIA is working with ARM and Adobe to ensure Adobe Flash technology takes full advantage of NVIDIA Tegra computer-on-a-chip solutions through open standards such as OpenGL ES 2.0,” said Michael Rayfield, GM of NVIDIA's mobile business.

ohhh yaaahhh... few months?!?!?! should be few weeks... guess we will see.
I hope sooner than later will see it on G1. Yeah few weeks would be great.
apperently flash has already been demoed on the g1:

Yeah Becuase its good for Google AdSense business and without flash its faint ads.
I think Flash is already there in WinCE devices in Latest Opera 9.50 Browser of HTC Diamond. means ARM based coding is already exists its just a matter of time to port it and if Google and Adobe both Ventured into it it will be great.
good point about google adsense. and here i thought google was doing it for me
if this is going to be on the OTA update, how will 'we' rooted RC30's going to get our hands on this?.. hmmmm..i guess we can just wait for JF to modify it for us.. but this is good news! YAY FLASH!

Its going to be interesting to see what is updated at the android source repository, since flash is property of adobe and not open source. We may not even have to update our phones but just the APK for the browser.
iirc the browser is considered a part of the Android software stack so most likely what will happen is an ota will update the browser to accept signed plugins. They can deliver the flash plugin with the ota update or change the current flash placeholder to let it link to an adobe download page.
So once flash is on our G1s, are they going to change the YouTube built-in app to go to the actual site, or is it still going to be m.youtube.com?
Maybe a new page that has the layout simplicities of the app, but with access to the actual site and all videos, not just m.youtube.com enabled videos?
I'm sure I'm just dreaming there, but it'd be nice

We've known that Cupcake has been floating around in dev circles for months now, but it's been clear as mud how the Open Handset Alliance plans to incorporate all of the lovely features it brings into Android's trunk, how Android will be versioned going forward, and in general, how the group plans to present a unified front to developers, manufacturers, and end users. That all gets a little clearer today with the official unveiling of Android 1.5 that fully incorporates the Cupcake branch, and -- perhaps much more importantly -- a home screen framework for developing widgets and populating live folders with whatever content you can dream up. There's no word on exactly how 1.5 will come to existing Android handsets in the field, but as far as we can tell, there's nothing listed in the changelog that would prevent current hardware from taking full advantage -- and the OHA is going to be releasing a series of articles about new-to-1.5 features in the coming weeks to help devs "prepare your applications for the release of Android 1.5 on phones." Sounds encouraging, doesn't it?
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2009/04/getting-ready-for-android-15.html
Devs should start working on widgets now :]]
bumpppp nobody cares?
Sounds good. Hopefully thisll help haykuro with his custom G builds

Oh I most certainly care and thanks for the information. I have been reviewing the information on updates and there do not seem to be too many surprises. It should be noted that this is a early preview of 1.5 not the final release. Final release of 1.5 is scheduled for the end of April which suggests G1 will not get an update till May.
A widget API is welcome. I can think of uses for the speech input intent as well though I am not terribly impressed with the speech search reliability. Until I have had a chance to review the docs and the upcoming articles though I do not really know what the other improvements bring to the table.
We are in an exciting time for android though. Cheers.

Try to run what? This is the sdk, you put it on your machine and then use eclipse(or whatever other java compiler) with it to write apps/widgets...
Any way to rip the ROM off the SDK?

since cyanogenmod 11 is released and it has android kitkat so here are the new features incorporated in android 4.4 kitkat
(android 4.4 is optimized for improving the performance on devices with 512 MB RAM or less. The entire UI is going to get smoother.)
1.UI improvement and redesign in apps-the apps like email and downloads are streamlined.the status and navigation bars go translucent.
2.improvement in google now-google now is 25% more accurate and will give u precise results with ur questions.cards for local shopping have been added.
3.SMS app is a part of hangouts-with hangouts u get three options- SMSs, MMSs and GTalk chats.emoji icons are incorporated in stock keyboard.
4.CALLER ID gets smarter-priority will be given to contacts with whom u talk the most.local listing on google maps will be used for recognizing numbers.
5.quickoffice default app for document reading and editing-quickoffice is integrated with android 4.4 just as iWork suite in apple devices.
6.voice control is always on-android kitkat incorporates always-on voice control that allows users to send text messages, locate places on google maps, play songs.
7.SCREEN RECORDER-u get to record anything u do on ur phone and save it in mp4 format.it is very useful for creating tutorials.
8.addition for support of cloud printing-the new version of android adds support for cloud printing.the limitation is that google cloud Print function is limited to the HP ePrint range and printers that have apps in the play store marketplace.
9.step counting-fitness freaks rejoice! Android 4.4 comes with a function called Moves that operates as a pedometer that counts your steps. google says this is a battery friendly way to measure your daily activity level.

ART is also one of the novelties of the new android

Well programming is not easy, maybe for you. Sometimes you will fix a certain things but at the same you accidentally broke something without knowing. Fixing and breaking is normal unless you are a perfect human that can code flawlessly.
And i dont see any wrong idea about attracting users to your site with ads, it is a site it was meant to be visited. And no one force you to download the file every release.

It shouldn't be possible, didn't work for me
Awesome job with this! I was actually planning on doing this myself just the other day, now I don't have to thanks!
Would be great to have this in the Play Store
Very nice. Easy to read and better on the eyes. Thanks.
How about offering a version with a slightly different name so as to be able to install both versions?
CatLog is still actively maintained so it would be nice to have yours installed and also keep up with the originals updates.

CatLog is not actively maintained. The project has been mostly abandoned and open sourced by the author in September 2012 (WTFPL!). He says he has no will to work on it anymore and he kindly open sourced so people like Quinny could take on it and have fun with it. He previously mentioned wanting to adhere more with the Holo standard (done!) as well as touch up the filtering.

I used "actively maintained" after going to the Play Store and seeing that it was last updated on December 13 2013, maybe something more subtle like still receives updates would have been better. I did not know that he said he didn't want to work on it anymore, the app still receives the occasional small update hence the reason for my request.
It also makes sense to slightly change the name (CatLog Holo comes to mind ) if Quinny plans to publish the app in the future since that name is already taken in the Play Store.
Sorry if I am being tiresome, I just posted here to see what Quinny's position was on doing this.
I made this app for all the fellow gear heads out there.

Will check this out, thanks!
I've been waiting for an app like this since I tried Appy geek, and it's finally here
After a short test, I like it. It needs more sources though, is there an option to find them, just I can't see it, or is it left for future builds?
Push notifications would be nice, in the future, for now it's rather good as it is!
Edit: I have first posted, and then saw that you've already mentioned sources. For starters, I would add Auto Express and Autocar videos.
I'll keep using the app and give more info in the future Thumbs up!

Thanks! Those are most of them I know. Anymore you recommend? And are you not getting notifications?

Update notifications are working fine on my SGS4 (though I turned them off this morning).
Used the app during my commute this morning. Working great. Already shared a few links.
I'm thinking that it would be nice to be able to toggle notifications by feed. Say like I just wanted to know when Car and Driver, and Road & Track were updated, but not others.

I haven't got many posts, so I still have restriction when it comes to posting (and editing my posts) speed, sorry for confusing posts...
I didn't get notifications yet, but give it just a bit more time (it's possible that I've changed something outside of the app, so it could be my bad). I'll report on this again.
I'm sure plenty of people would be interested in tuner sites rss, so this could be nice to add, but it can wait (because that will probably demand special category if you put in many sources).
Also, if you need beta testers, I'm your man

Thanks a lot and that will probably be in future versions ;D
Just to quickly reply, updates work normally, it wasn't apps fault they didn't pop up previously!

Glad to hear
I've tried the app on both tablet, and a phone, and it looks good on both. One thing surprised me - my phone has KitKat on it, no flash, yet it seems I've played a pure flash video from the app (it wasn't in videos section, but a part of the article).

Not sure, to be honest. It was pretty early in the morning, so it's possible that I was just still sleepy.
