Was just wondering if there's a way to change the default black background of the app drawer?
Some Launchers can do this for you ex: Go Launcher EX, found in Play Store
Stock ROMS I have used did not have the option to change the App Drawer Background.
Yep will try it out.
I know stock ROMs suck.
Ah well, they do!
Good luck and have fun with ur app drawer bgs!

is there an app that changes app names? I found "App name editor" but that only changes app names on your "home screen" or "desktop(s)" as i call it. I'd like to change the name in the app screen. for instance "hide my sms" doesnt do me much good if the name implies exactly what its doing. any such app?
I don't know of any app like that, but I would imagine you're going to have to use a 3rd party launcher to be able to edit app names in the app drawer. You may want to check out LauncherPro - it looks very similar to the stock launcher, but lets you customize all sorts of things. One feature is the ability to hide certain apps from showing up in your app drawer at all. Would this solve your problem, and you could still put a link to the app on your homescreen (with a changed name or even without the name, just the icon).

ADW Launcher EX has a edit option which can rename app name & change icon.
Maybe try that.

in the app drawer, or just on the homescreen? I know LauncherPro can do both on the homescreen, don't know about the app drawer.

ADW just on homescreen.
Haven't found the solution for the app drawer :/
Is there any way to show a launcher in the app drawer? I would like to get ADW to show so I can make a shortcut in Launcher7. If I can't do it through an app would it be possible to do it through editing the apk? If yes, then what would I have to change?
i want to know 2
I don't know if this helps but go launcher has an icon in the app drawer, it doesn't have much use but it's possible to put an icon there, if i click it, it just goes back to the main screen because the launcher was launched...
I bet it has been requested a zillion times before, but I cannot find it. I love the ADW Launcher EX home replacement app, but I don't fancy the app drawer. Can I replace the different drawers with the one found in stock Gingerbread?
I've tried out the "4D drawer" in ADW EX, but it isn't as smooth as stock.
I would like this too

Just wondering, have you tried the new vertical drawer? Most responsive/smoothest scrolling app drawer I've used. I don't know of a way to only use the app drawer of a launcher other than a 3rd party app replacement like alt drawer in this forum, or shortcut linking to a drawer like the blur one.

Hmm, care to elaborate (bold)? I've tried all there is Even in Go Launcher and LauncherPro, but none come close to the smoothness of stock GB
Well, from your other posts it sounds like you have a Nexus/Stock by default phone, so you wouldn't be able to do this. But on the newer versions of the Motorola skin, like the 2.3.3 Droid X update, the app drawer can be chosen as a shortcut with a custom launcher, like LauncherPro. So you can map the app drawer icon in the dock to the app drawer itself: http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/3...-new-blur-app-drawer-together-on-your-droidx/
Is it possible to change app icons? I'm using Launcher Pro/TW Launcher and the Sony Ericsson skinned apps (Phone/Messaging/Email) don't match at all.

the homescreen icons can be changed easly using Desktop Visualiser, if you want to change the app draw icons, use GO Launcher is has soooooo many themes out now

I tried it but it doesn't change the actual app icon.
Go Launcher is SOOOOOO laggy. I tried to like it,deleted it and tried it again after a few weeks. Still laggy. Laggier than ADW.
So far LauncherPro and TWLauncher are the snappiest launchers.

I would go into settings and then launcher settings and see if you can create a new shortcut to the app drawer. Or hold down anywhere on your homescreen and choose the option for your launcher, and create a shortcut to the app drawer.
To get the stock launcher back, go into settings>apps or the play store and uninstall go launcher.

i just got lucky i had the google play app on my home screen... otherwise i would have had to re-flash the rom... which i dont want honestly...

So you mean the stock launcher has the app drawer missing, oh that is a problem, considering I didn't think that was possible.
here is the original thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121036
I read your post wrong, the stock launcher for the custom rom should be Nova or apex, if it isnt go. The only thing I could suggest is the longpress on the homescreen. I hope there is a launcher settings in your rom, and if there is check to make sure that longpress actions arent disabled for the homescreen.
