MTD and BML?

What exactly makes them so different? Im not familiar with either, so this is why Im asking. Also, no Im not posting in the wrong forum, my daily driver is an sgs4g. This is my Dad's phone

BML is proprietary to samsung. MTD is open source. Most custom roms like cm and aokp use MTD.

I still don't see any mtd based roms, well... miui. but I mean modified kj6 mtd roms. I know cm7 is neat, and so is miui and it's many themes. We can do so much more with our phone then what is going on.

From a developer that preaches 'read the op!', this is dissapointing. I'll explain why im using my dads phone and not my daily driver. Im not using my SGH-T959V because I didnt pay my bill this month. I cant stand simple mobile any longer, and Im switching to straight talk, so the phone wont be in use until then. And If youre wondering why I dont just use wifi, well I dont have dsl/cable internet now. Just mobile web.

I posted that screenshot because airfluip1 mentioned that I was running an old gb release and I just confirmed that for him, thats all. I dont have data access on my phone at the moment so Im using his. Sorry for the confusion! :banghead:

Ok, I see now. Just a tip... You can get a screen shot of your phone by running ddms from the android sdk's platform-tools. Under the device menu, click screen capture.
You can even do this from recovery. (not sure about dl mode...)

UPDATED (Ics update) att.en.us.

Currently there is no way to flash back to gb. Our awesome devs are looking into a solution. If you upgrade to this leaked ics you will be stuck there. You will also be off the upgrade path for the official ics ota.
You have been warned.

EDIT: I have just pulled the ICS update file as well! For AT&T phones. It's on master-svc1 under Staging. Update is a little over 288 MB.

The update files will save somewhere in the /Cache folder of your phone. You can pull the files using ADB then delete them from the phone.

Same, I am actually worried it is a fake from moto trying to screw us over even more. downloads gonna take about anotherr 20 min for me, but lets keep talking through pm for now.
everyone else: try not to go to insane, just hang tight and thank the hell out of the op of this. I promise we will get this out and do what we can with it asap.

well, what are they going to do in it to lock us down more? as long as we can get back to 2.3.5 with fxz, who cares. we can figure out root and stuff later if current methods don't work.
I doubt the bootloader will be unlocked, but that would be more than awesome.

I think they were included in the PM.

We can be locked down even more, if they allow us to not flash the fxz, like they did to the OG atrix.

But still I'd like to know what he needs help with. my advice to u "op" is dont post a thread for this and a link to your rom unless there are only minor bugs/issues. The reason is because u open yourself to be ridiculed! Instead pm people within the forum who are devs,and have developed something. That are known for putting out great work. Most are very nice and willing to answer your questions! then u can get the help u need! :good:

He posted in the development thread, stated its an alpha port..... and that he needs help....unsure why the rest of you guys are jumping on him, I suppose you would flame him if he in the question thread for not posting in the dev thread.... now you probably scared him off. Great job guys.
That being said he should have posted more information about the rom, but some friendly posts to steer him/her in the right direction is all that was needed.
Not sure what happened to the skyrocket forum lately...when did we become a bunch of elitists.. to high and mighty..to help a new cook wanting to learn, that is trying to contribute. ..

Ya. I have to disagree as well. 4.2 is still very much a WIP and nobody ridiculed sk8r. Y? Cuz he's a recognized member of the community? Neither one should b flamed. They both are asking for help with a WIP. :thumbup::thumbup: 2 thumbs up to the OP IMO. I'm usually one of the first to flame ppl sometimes. .... but this just doesn't deserve it.

Well, I wasn't flaming. Just stating i'm not going to be a guinea pig (maybe if I had a backup phone). Kind of hard to trust or have any kind of confidence to flash this when the OP gives almost no information/instruction. Any the person he stated to help him fix things has 3 posts and joined Nov 2012.. just my input.

I'm sure people said I would never buy a lambourghini when they first came out because they were new. Now they are a coveted car. Guy just asked for help that's all. These flamers probably don't give money to the homeless either. When did we all become so jaded?

It is disgusting. People brick their phones all the time! Doesn't mean their stupid. They just made a mistake! Poor op. Probably scared him off. Who knows! Might of made a great dev someday!

Wooah didn't see all this coming! But yea I first need help with the radio to work but jmdub85 fixed that. So now we can't get the internal sd card to mount, and we experince those same graphical glitchs that we once had in our first cm9 roms. How were they fixed?

A lot more info will help, what version of android is this? Is it based of AOSP?

I have no rom installed, cannot connect to the computer via fastboot (windows 8 error code 10) to flash boot image, unable to mount sd card in twrp. I am out of ideas of my own, I have been digging through the threads for about two weeks with no luck

Connect to the computer in recovery hit mount USB and then on the computer hit format and format to fat32

You are not bricked. I wish people would stop saying they are bricked/possibly bricked just because they did some things they weren't supposed to, and can't boot.
If the screen comes on, its not bricked.
And probably pretty simple to get up and running again. You just don't know what those steps are. Nothing wrong with that if you are a n00b to this device. But don't hit the panic button and immediately assume you are bricked.
In adb, does the device show up if you type"
adb devices
If not, you probably just need to re-install the HTC drivers, and/or try a different USB port. The drivers are a bit finicky, so not being able to connect is a common issue.
Fix the USB connection issue, and format the SD as suggested in the above response, and you will probably be good to go.

So you're all pissed off and insulting me, because I didn't see you thanked somebody else? "Wow" indeed.
You apparently didn't bother to notice I gave the same solution as the one above mine, while also offering up other things to try (as the one fix doesn't always solve the problem). And how are we supposed to know what you tried, if you don't tell us (a poor way to try to get help)? Sorry for not reading your mind.
So you don't think my posts deserves a "Thanks", well that's fine. But you have no justification to come on here and be an a$$ to someone that took the time and effort to try to help you, even if it wasn't the solution that worked for you.

The jokes were posted because you made the unfounded conclusion that you were bricked (when you weren't even close to a brick), and also since you didn't properly research and asked a question that has been answered literally 3 times a day.

Its almost impossible to brick hoxl unless you flash an old Rom meant for tegra hox. A bricked phone you will know as it appears dead as in paper wieght . Asking is ok but a simple Google search and you have answer . Problem is some people now are rooting phones cause they think its a cool fad but no nothing about it and don't follow instructions then come here and cry and feel they are entitled to get all the attention for there issue when usually its already been discussed, thus they post same questions in multiple threads demanding answers....every1 needs assistance at all levels at some point but come on , if you have never heard of adb and fastboot then maybe some people need to prepare for at least hr of research, is that to much to ask?
Edit: srry didn't mean to rant but this is like the 4 new thread asking same stuff and just disregarding people's posts who are trying to help as false solutions

Google had sent out an official OTA update to my phone thinking it was Nexus4. I stripped it down, made my own ROM along with the kernel.
4.4 ROM coming soon! :thumbup:

They wanna make it Moto X. Not G2. And yeah i talked to Larry personally and he said he's considering giving us snapdragon 800 in the next update. And yeah, 13 mp camera and an AMOLED HD display to come in future! :fingers-crossed:
