[Q] Latest version of Clockworkmod for Samsung Dart? - General Questions and Answers

I am trying to install Clockworkmod recovery for my Samsung Dart. After searching and reading a few threads, I came up to the point that I need to use Clockworkmod from Madteam for Samsung Dart T499. However, I could not register in its forum successfully. It always give me error "Cannot open socket".
I got a link from xda which is one package containing all needed tools, but the Clockworkmod included is the old version v5.0.2.7. The newer version I can see from Madteam is v5.0.2.8 which fixed some problems. (But I cannot see the link since I could not log in.)
Would someone please give me a link to download the latest version of Clockworkmod for Samsung Dart (from Madteam)?
Thanks a lot!

Is there a chance you could mention where you got clockworkmod? I have been looking for it but so far I can't seem to find it.

The madteam forum says all links are disabled now and will resume when it is normal to do so. I am not sure what happened, but probably just need to wait.

[Q] Clockworkmod recovery

This is partly a question, partly a guide.
I got a nexus S the other day and was trying to decide weather to root/unlock it. The problem I ended up having (had the same issue with my desire) is that I couldn't find a source for the clockworkmod recovery image (most of the root guides point to outdated links, point to downloads with no version info, or point to versions that are pretty old).
I eventually went down the same path with this phone that i did with the desire, download rom manager and get it to download the version it thought was appropriate for my phone. It didnt have root, so downloading was the only thing it can do (btw, if your looking to do the same thing i did, rom manager downloads it to the /sdcard/clockworkmod/download/<some hostname>/cm/recoveries/ directory). It got 3.0.2.4, which i copied off the storage and flashed with fastboot.
However, it makes me wonder where do people actually get clockworkmod recovery from? Is there a single place? alot of the links point to places like mediafire. Lastly, is 3.0.2.4 the version i should be using? (currently on 2.3.4 stock with root/unlock on a i9023).

I had the same problem back when I got my NS. I ended up finding a link somewhere here on xda, i think.
Downloading it with Rom-Manager is a good idea too, unfortunately i didnt know about Rom-Manager by that time.

Updating ROM with CWM just reverts to menu?

Hey,
I'm trying to install the [ROM] Team Tiamat Xoom Rom 2.2.2 - Moray [9/10/11].
I've got CWM installed (version recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img but also tried latest version from ROM Manager).
Each time i try to install the .zip it get's to opening package and then just exits to the CWM menu?
It's probably a common thing, but couldn't find anything from a search? Anyone got any ideas?
This has been covered many times so take the time to do a search.

I had to thank you Muffycheeks for your excellent answer. I am not sure why you did not at least give an indication about where to find the answer or what the issue is? Lucky this was posted in Q&A and not in the dev thread!
I am new to Xoom (only got it since yesterday) and have managed to get the bootloader unlocked and custom recovery installed. For some reason when I reboot the device the recovery is flash back to 3e (I suppose this has been also debated millions of times but I cannot find it yet...)
I had been able to flash one of the custom roms but it gets stuck in bootscreen. I wiped everything I could think of and followed a couple of advices and still not working.
I am downloading the other rom (as far as I can tell there are only 2 customs with one of them based on the other one) and will see if that works.
Sorry Addicteddddd for highjacking your thread but I have been searching for a while until I found your thread and I thought my issues were over to find the standard helpful XDA answer. Some people might have had their device for years but some other are quite new to this.
K.
EDIT: It seems that one of the recoveries do not advise if a ZIP file is bad and therfore comes back with no message. I suppose this is why this is happening.
I downloaded 3 ZIP files and they are all corrput. Not sure what is happening here but anyway.

I don't know if you used this guide but there is a bit of discussion of some issues regarding cwm recovery versions and some pitfalls while trying to flash.Check it out if you haven't
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798
Also, how are you downloading the file? Are you getting the right version? If you are using the R4c v3.2.0.0 it should be called solarnz, not tiamat. The guide has the correct link.

[Q] LG optimus black can;t mount SD card - Installing custom ROM

First of all thank you for your attention regarding this post!
I recently rooted my LG p970, After hours of research I tried it with ''superoneclick'', it worked.
Afterwards I would liked to get a custom ROM, again I searched for hours and camed across CYANOGENMOD.
So I would try that one.
I've got the ROM Manager app, I downloaded CYANOGEN, then got into recovery mode, but then...
Everytime I get an error regarding that my SD card can't be mounted.
I've looked in many forums regarding this propblem, but I can't find an understandable solution
Could someone help me out with this?
Again, Thank you for reading my post!

[Q] TWRP??????

It appears that TWRP is at a standstill at least according to their website. How is everyone getting updates for the newer releases of this recovery??? Goomanger is now defunct and TWRPs site being down (Or at least no activity) I'm not sure where to look or trust?? I'm on 2.7.0.0 and a lot of GPE Roms appear to be giving me trouble during installs. The OP's/Devs are recommending using this recovery but it's not supported????? Is there something I'm missing?? I used CWR forever before trying TWRP and I like the feel of TWRP. With Rom Manager Touch recovery out there and having better support is this the way to go??
Thanks guys!
This is the official download section for the Verizon variant of twrp. Or at least where I've downloaded from and it's working fine. http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m8_wlv

I believe you and I'll use the 2.7.0.2 from there but you see what I mean?? I've never seen that site before and how would anyone know if that is a legit build when TWRP's site doesn't reflect it?

I can understand. I'm pretty sure I got there through their website though. Its been awhile though since I've gone the long way instead of the bookmark route. I'll have to check it out. Hopefully this helps you out for the time being though.
Edit: so heres what I did to get to that link. I went to their website and then went to project. From there I went to TWRP 2.7 and then at the top of the page there is a get twrp for your device. Clicking on that brought up a search box and I typed in m8 and selected the Verizon variant. That took me to a page specifically listing instructions for our device with links to the goo manager app in the market or a link to their goo.im page. I scrolled past those options to the ADB section and there is a link that will take you to where you can download the img, which is the same page I linked you earlier. As for actual development I don't know how up to date they are on it, but I imagine it takes a bit to maintain and update.

Help finding Lineage ROM for Samsung SM-J530Y

Hi,
I am new to this forum, so may have missed the obvious ..
I have a Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro (SM-J530Y) and am looking for a Lineage ROM for it. I have found one for other versions of the J5 Pro (specifically [ROM][UNOFFICIAL]LineageOS 15.1 [8.1][J530F/G/S][10/05/18] - I would add a link but for some reason my system no longer copy and pastes .. )
I have used TWRP and set up the phone, and tried to load the ROM listed above, but the install ends with the message:
"E3004: This package is for device: j5y17lte, j5y17letub; this device isj5y17ltedx.
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/lineage-15.1-20180510-UNOFFICIAL-j5y17lte.zip'"
I read this as I have got the wrong ROM zip file to load onto this phone. Can someone confirm this?
Also, can someone point me at a ROM image that will work (or more than one if there are more than one ...)
Thanks,
Tony

For 8.1 ROMs you need a newer TWRP version , take the latest one and I think you won't have this problem anymore

Hi,
Many thanks for the reply.
I downloaded TWRP a few days ago, at the same time as I downloaded the .zip image, hopefully it is recent enough. It is version 3.2.1-0.
Is this recent enough? If not, can you point me at he latest suitable version (I tried looking around but as I am not familiar with the various sites, it still is a bit daunting.)
Thanks,
Tony

Hi,
Sorry for the confusion - that is the version of TWRP that I used and it gave me those error messages.
From your reply then, it looks like the TWRP version is not the issue.
Can you suggest anything else?
Thanks,
Tony

Ok , it look like your device isn't the right one , because the codename verification revealed that the ROM you've flashed isn't for your device's variant.
I don't know why I didn't think about it earlier, but now you have the right answer .
If you want to flash something , you have to know what's your phone's codename , now you know it's "j5y17ltedx".
Try to find the zip file for your variant.
And also press the thank button if I helped you
Download Device ID from the Google Play Store then it should reveal the code name of your device. It should be the same as TWRP shows. You should only flash ROMs that matches the device codename on the device.
The application lists out your registered email account on this device, the device codename, and your Google Services Framework ID. The one you should be looking for is Device Codename.

Hi,
Thanks fro looking at this.
From the error message I get, I assume that the devicename is: sj5y17ltedx
Is this correct?
Note that I have got rid of the default Samsung operating system so cannnot boot it anymore (Since I had a ROM I thought would work I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I may have been a bit hasty ...)
I have tried to search for that name (sj5y17ltedx) but there are no hits in this website (xdadevelopers). Does that mean no one has built a ROM for my version of phone yet?
Thanks,
Tony.
There are currently no ROMs that supported your variant instead of the stock deodexed version of the Stock ROM.

OK - thanks for that. I have downloaded and installed the Breeze+ ROM you pointed to.
It looks like it is running OK. I will see how it goes over the next few days.

Hi Tony
Looking in to this device for lineage os and found this post
was wondering if this was a good substitute and if you had any feedback regarding the ROM after a few months (potentially) of use?
Cheers mate
