Are you running on ICS? Make sure the app is compatible with ICS, because many aren't. Try google maps and test the gps
Make sure it's also toggled on in settings, and are you running a ROM?
Test Google maps, it should always work.

Hey ive unlocked and flashed to a sweet NRG rom and love it. I just want to use google Maps (or something similar) to find my position on a map (turn by turn maybe?). I remember with my iPhone when I first had it the GPS worked great then one day I was never able to get my actual position (just within a certain amount of meters).
Did rogers shut down GPS?
Now on my new phone when I goto "GPS location" in google maps it searches for a satellite but doesnt seem to get my position (0)... Is there a setting I can turn on to allow GPS or do I need to cal rogers and rip on someone? LOL
keep up the great work guys!!!

I just turned 3g on and did the HTC GPS tool. I opened the port and started the test and then menu-Information and I dont seem to have a position.
any ideas guys? seems like rogers problem.

GPS on the HTC is using the basic GPS Signal coming from satellites. Are u outside or near a window to a fix ?
Look http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Positioning_System
What u used was A-GPS what is assisted GPS with help from Cell Phone provider. It gives faster fix and a pseude gps in buildings.
Go outside with ur cellphone with clear sky view, start the htc gps tool and u should get position fix within some minutes or even seconds. There is no need for 3g because the gps itself does not need any cellphone connection. It takes satellite signals to calculate the position.
When u update quick gps it is faster in the position fix because it already knows some basic sat data. But still no phone connection necessary for using GPS.
The google map u then only see with data (3g or wlan) not because of the GPS but because of the drawed map graphics wich have to be loaded.
ok i will try the outside thing although I have the phone pointed to the window pretty much. Checking rogers website both phones only have a-GPS but I still cant get an actual location on either. Only about a 4 block square or circle.
EDIT: ok i enabled A-GPS on the touch pro and still no luck with google maps. It still seems to be looking for actual GPS
OK im managed to get it working. I changed the port to com5 and scanned found some sat's I had to change the bit thing to 56700 on com5 within google maps. Seems to be working like a charm!
Hi Guys,
I have installed Navigon Select on my HTC HD7 as explained in "Navigon Select GPS Navigation for WP7" but for some strange reason I am not able to see my current location, when I navigate to in the application I go to "GPS Info" it always says 0.0 and 0.0
My GPS location in turned on in the settings.
I get a pop-up message when i lunch the application that "Mobile Navigator" uses GPS data to locagte your position.
I thought that my gps might be broken but no... on the bing maps it shows exact location based on the GPS not on the mobile network signal.
I also tried "TA Maps" google maps and it shows location correctly...
I have reinstalled the navigon app but i got same results...
any help would be much appreciated,
ps. i wasn't able to replay to the post "Navigon Select GPS Navigation for WP7" because its my first post.

For anybody else who might have the same problem:
I got my gps on navigon working after uninstalling some of the apps which were also using GPS it seemed for me like there is a limit of how many apps can use GPS signal. I must admit I had about 20.

I have same problem with my LG quantum. Would you mind sharing which app did you uninstall? Everything using location?
I updated to JB today after arriving in Miami and when I went out, I could not lock in with a GPS fix on my cached Miami map using the stock Maps. Anyone wwith any ideas? The GPS radio is on.
Took a while for mine to get a lock after upgrading to JB the first time. But after it got a lock the first time, it locks on fast now.
Also you can try disabling and renabling google location services. Installing fastergps if you have root may also help.
Mine seems to lock, but it constantly shows the flashing icon in my status tray saying Searching for GPS. I just installed GPS Status and it did not show any satellites so mine seems a little wonky too.

I have the same problem. My TF300 came with WW firmware and I converted it to US. Now it's running rooted JB. GPS Status does not show any GPS activity at all.
Maybe the GPS hardware differs between US and WW units. I don't know.
you haven't made a backup of gpsconf from previous rom right? you'd need root permissions to do so, but maybe the problem is you're trying to link over US satellites, while it's not ment to be that way... happend to me on Atrix 4G, had yo edit gpsconf as well to get it working as I wanted to

I understand that GPS Status shows you all the satellites that are available in the horizon, with a signal measurement for each one.
My SGS3 and Droid 3 show about 15 satellites, while the TF300T doesn't show any.
I also converted from the WW to US firmware prior to updating to 4.1.1, and my GPS is acting a little 'wonky' too.
I seem to have trouble getting any fixes with either Maps or GPS Status, but after rebooting the tab I get the same satellite fixes as my galaxy nexus. Seems if the GPS is turned off for a while the tab 'forgets' how to acquire sat signals:cyclops:
Might mean I switch back to the WW firmware once they feel like it's ok to release the update for it.
Cheers
Incidentally I had Google location services off. I turned it home on wifi and it was able to lock on. I then went out again, and it was able to track me then in real time.
I too converted from WW to US then updated to Jellybean. My GPS works fine, locks within 10 seconds, usually on 6 or more satellites.
So this was all about google location services turned off? lol
Mine is not working a nd google location services is on ;\
I've got a problem. When I open Google Maps it doesn't seem to activate my GPS so my location is decided by the operator-network and/or wifi, and is not very precise. I've tried to keep Google Maps open for a long time but my location is never that precise as when the GPS is activated. Also if I log into Android Device Manager on the web, I only get a location with an accuracy of 1.5-2 kilometres so that's neither located by GPS.
But if I then enter a route in Google Maps and use the Navigation, the GPS is turned on and everything is fine. It's the same if I use Sygic GPS Navigation. I've got Avast Anti-Theft installed on my phone and if I log into avast.com and send a location command to my phone, it's also located by GPS with an accuracy of 5 metres.
I've installed 'GPS Status & Toolbox' and set the app to show an icon in my navigation bar when the GPS is used. And it's the same as described above - when Google Maps is open there's no icon but when I use Navigation the icon it's there.
I'm pretty sure that on my last phone (Samsung Galaxy S II) with Android 4.4.2 Google Maps also used the GPS and I've got a precise location every time, so my question is how to get it in the same way on my new phone (Sony Xperia Z1) with Android 4.4.4? There are many times I just want to see on Google Maps exactly where I am without using the Navigation directions to a specific location.

Have either of you guys tried clearing app data and see if that works? Every once in a while I get that to resolve my issues.

i don't know about the gps not turning on at all, but it is a somewhat known bug on googles end when wifi is used to help location services, it frequently causes accuracy issues.
try turning off your wifi and see how it acts.
Yeah, off wifi it's more accurate. But yes, rooter, just cleared my app data and that did the trick, thanks.
Hi,
I think I have a problem with GPS on my Oneplus One, it's so hard to lock to my location.
I use Google Maps for navigation (High Accuracy GPS), and it's always showing wrong location, sometimes even far off from my location. And if I look into the status bar, it's always showing "Searching for GPS". I thought it's a problem with Maps so I downloaded Here and Waze, but still the same story, Here and Waze always show wrong location, and Waze also says my GPS is off.
But it's also worth to mention that if I am home, all apps above showing right location. And also I just downloaded GPS Status and test it in my home, it stuck on "Looking for GPS location" message when I'm indoor, but it works when I'm outdoor. Obviously I haven't been outside since I downloaded GPS Status so I'll updated this thread later.

You need to be outside for GPS to work, there's no point testing inside because it'll never work.

Thanks for the info
But it supposed to work inside a moving car right? I tested and compared my OPO with my old Galaxy Tab 2 10" yesterday when I'm going outside. I ran GPS Status & Toolbox on both devices and it's seems like my Galaxy Tab locks position faster and more stable, although showed less total satellites than OPO.

Yes OPO gps detection is not so faster
If u have disabled Google play location services and maps app activate them in privacy guard
Go to settings >location > set DEVICE ONLY mode
Keep your Internet on
Place your mobile on flat surface then click on location button
Wait for 1-2min
It will detect
