Polaris Office for Kindle Fire - Kindle Fire Themes and Apps

Hello guys!
I hope this thread would not be considered as "warez". Polaris Office is currently only distributed as a pre-loaded app, for Android devices, by different HW vendors. And there is no way, that I am aware of, to be able to buy the app if you like it or need it.
I've copied the binaries needed, from my smartphone, to test the app on my KF. And so far it is working ok. No crashes.
I am attaching the files needed to install the app, if you want to give it a try.
PS: There is an "Update" option available on the Settings menu. This is not working and will cause the app to crash. Do not use it.
Install instructions:
1- Copy the PolarisOffice.apk file to /system/app. Change the permission to rw-r--r--
2. Extract the lib.zip file. And copy the content (libpolarisoffice.so and libpolarisoffice_Clipboard.so) to /system/lib. Change the permission of both .so files to rw-r--r--

I am sorry to hear that. Just to clarify, did you followed the install procedure (copying the files to /system/app and /system/lib)?
I will try to test the app using this rom on my device.

I put the files in the appropriate folder and believe i granted them access...i was a little unclear on the RW-R-R part of your description...but the files are definitely in the right spots.

HELP: How do i update files in .apk files?

I have a dialer with a homer picture as the default, and rather than pushing my prior Phone.apk... i was wondering what program i can use to open the .apk file and replace that png file to something i prefer???? Also, once i update the .apk is there any special required repackaging required for it to work correctly?
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.
Use 7zip. After you install it just right click on .apk and choose open with 7zip. Double click on the /res/drawable-mdpi folder of the /.apk. Drag the new .png to that folder. It will overwrite the old .png. Close out the .apk and adb push back to phone.

Awesome. That worked nicely.
Thanks so much for your help!
I guess when i wanted to get rid of Homer... I really wasn't sure what would be better. The default dialer android wasn't my favorite, so i just threw this one together... Maybe after I think of something better I will change it again, but for now: I am happy with this versus Homer!!!!

Wrong UMTS signal indication on D2g [Fixed!!!]

As I already wrote on the D3 room was almost too obvious that the poor GSM signal indication was done purposely on Verizon request.
Well, now I have the proof

(The screenshot is from a D3)
Just edit build.prop and change the line
ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone=1
to
ro.mot.phonemode.vzwglobalphone=0
then reboot the phone
and your three or four stolen signal bars will be back.
I discovered it on the D3, then I tried on the D2g (with the gingerbread FW) and it works perfectly too.
Don't forget to say cheers to verizon
Good finding good job

Or try using EX File Explorer, after finished installation, go to setting and scroll till the bottom of the page, then check the root mount the file system, and you're good to go.

[BOOTANIMATION]Windows 8 Spinning Dots (Startup)

My favorite aspect of the new Windows 8 was the little spinning dots that would be there at startup (at least in the developer builds). Well, I decided to make a boot animation from that.

The actual boot amination runs much smoother than the gif
I made this for the G2x so it should work on any HDPI display.
To install:
Download the zip: View attachment W8BootSpin.zip
Use any file manager with Root access (ie. Rootexplorer)
Move the zip to /system/media/ and rename it to bootanimation.zip
Change the permissions to (rw-r--r--) or (Owner: Read Write, Group: Read, Others: Read)
Reboot and enjoy!
If you like this, please click thanks!

I downloaded the zip file and moved it to system/media and then renamed as bootanimation.zip
Before that I deleted the old animation because it did not let me change the name.
I did the wipe from cwm menu phone works now without win 8 animation...

Have you tried one of those boot animation managers that they have on the play store. I don't know if that will work or not but it could be worth a try.

no I have not, but it is okay I actually does not need to add a bootanimation.

[Q] Live Wallpaper

This is my favourite CM11s wallpaper, its name is "Water":

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now that I am moving to an L based Rom I would like to keep this but I can only find it in CM11s roms.
How do I extract it from those roms and use it in Lollipop?
If you root your device and navigate to /system/app/ using a file Explorer you will see a list of all apps installed on your device, find the water.apk file for the love wallpaper and move it to your user storage or a pc, now install whatever rom you want and move the file you backed up back in to the system/app/ folder.
Hope that helps.

I tried that but there is no "water.apk"
Could it be that it is contained in: "liveWallpapers.apk" ?
Maybe, I uninstall live wallpapers whenever I do a fresh install so I couldn't say for sure.
Goto settings / apps
Scroll right to "all" apps, find the live wallpaper in the list of apps. Click on it to be taken to the app info page, below the app title there should be a package name. This is what the app should be called in your /system/app/ folder.
Hope that helps.

OK on my Lollipop Rom I deleted "Livewallpapers.apk" from the /system/app/ folder
I then installed a new livewallpapers.apk (the one from CM11S) as you would any normal app (I use Airdroid)
The funny thing is that the live wallpaper I wanted IS available now but I cannot find the "livewallpaper.apk" anywhere, and it does not show up in Airdroid.
If you installed it like you would any normal app, that's means it's installed as a user app, not a system app. The app file should be located in the following folder /data/app/.

That's what I thought but it is not there!
Is there an app that can do a global search (search the whole device)?

[ROOT] Motokey Working on 8.0

Just follow this guide and be happy.
1 - Download this file and file two XML files and place on system/etc/permissions and set permissions to 644
2 - download and extract the MotoKeySystemSupport.zip and place in system/priv-app and set permissions to 644 for files APK, odex and vodex
3 - download and extract the MotoKey.zip and place in system/priv-app and set permissions to 644 for files APK, odex and vodex
4 - reboot and be happy.
Didn't work for me. The XML files delete themselves after reboot. Motokey is selectable but force closes.

I'm sorry to hear that, when I reboot my phone, the Moto Key shows a FC notification once, but works really good after that. I'll take a look if my XML files are missing and made some modifications just wait a little bit more
