[Q] USB Debugging keeps unchecking itself - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi so I have an HTC One X
Rogers Version
HTCDev bootloader unlocked
Rooted
Debranded from rogers
Unlocked to Bell
I just unlocked the bootloader but now whenever I turn debugging on, and exit the menu it just turns itself off. And even when I stay there it doesn't work. Any ideas? Keeps unchecking itself :/

I'm curious to hear an answer to this one. If mine was doing that my first idea would maybe bring it to a priest or the Jedi counsel.....

Are you serial mate?
So long as you haven't installed any carrier updates you can just follow the same process...
Otherwise you'll have to find the guide to match whatever version you're rocking if there is...

I don't know why so many people are so gun how about taking this update but if your so inclined just go to HTC dev and follow the instructions again and get another unlock token before you take the update

I just wanted it for archive purposes in case anything happened. I was going to upgrade but I've since changed my mind till its safer. I've gotten the unlock token back so thanks everyone.

HTC One X will not turn on, no LED response

i tried to install new ROM. It couldn't make a new tmp/update_binary to I rebooted to Fastboot. i think i accidentally installed a TEGRA 3 ROM....
Now my phone won't turn on, no LEDs come on.
HOWEVER, when plugged into my computer, the computer recognizes that something's been plugged in (with that du-doo) noise, but then quickly makes the (da-da-da) noise to inform me that the USB device isn't working.
Pwr+Voldown doesn't work
In Windows Device Manager I get Code 28 (wrong drivers) for some device called QHSUSB_DLOAD, but that might be something else.
Where do I go from here. I've searched for hours on this issue...
Were you on 2.20 firmware? Did you try to install ice cold jelly?
If both those are yes, you are screwed and now have an expensive paperweight.
I have heard that HTC will replace the motherboard for 120
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
I'm not sure which firmware I was on. Thought i did have a Jelly Bean ROM installed, before this failed attempt.
And yes... I was trying to install ICJ...
What method did you use to unlock your bootloader? X-factor?

It seems that installing ubuntu and going forward with (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1966850)

If you were on 1.85 grim has successfully unbricked icj phones with that method. Good luck

His toolkit only uses the xfactor exploit.. whether or not that exploit works on 1.85 and if he was on 1.85 isn't known to me.

Bootloader/Custom Recovery question

Hi, I've read and searched about rooting or unlocking a refurbished phone should be okay to do, i just want to know for sure if I will be okay. My one x is refurbished and would like to know if I can install viper Rom with no troubles, will I be able to unlock bootloader and flash custom recovery? I just want to be safe

Depends if you get an att refurbished phone with 3.18 update installed. If you did you can't root.

Is it an AT&T phone?
If so, you can't unlock the bootloader, and thusly you cannot root.

The fact that it's refurbished has no bearing over whether or not it's rootable.
The main point of the question was if I should or shouldn't... If they didn't reset the bootloader or main circuit board I can end up with another brick. That's what I'm trying to avoid this time

*says a quiet prayer for Doug's phone*
There's no reason to not s-off lol. It's very simple to do and takes like 5 minutes.

Well, what should I do?

So I traded my one X for a Lumia 920 and the guy came back texting me about how he somehow got into the recovery screen and it says there is no OS installed, he had pictures to prove it. And he also has a mac, so I don't know what to do. The boot loader is relocked so he's not even rooted, that eliminates flashing a ROM. I'm lost, RUU don't work on Macs either.... What should I do?
It doesn't sound like it's your fault that the guy screwed up the phone after you gave it to him. Not your problem?

Was the phone relocked and functional when you gave it to him? And, was it s-on or s-off?

Well, if the phone was s-on and relocked, and functional when he traded it, clearly the other guy screwed it up. But if the OP just relocked and powered off when it still had custom recovery/rom, then it would not have been able to boot up in that state.

It was s-off and it was working perfectly. Relocked bootloader and he was like "I was downloading apps, then it rebooted to recovery and I texted you because I got scared." That doesn't sound right to me. I think he wiped the system and tried blaming me.
How can he text you from a phone that has no operating system? Just saying...lol.

If you're on an AT&T One X I don't think we get the HTC tourch app. I don't have it either. And yeah like he said if you were rooted your phone would say tampered and relocked. And your carier takes care of tethering. Go to settings and then click on more. Hotspot or tethering should be right there

Charging only.
USB debugging doesn't need to be on.
Essentially, plug in the phone, run the RUU. It will tell you what to do.

I had updated to RUU 3.18. Now when I connect phone to PC via USB cable, I'm unable to choose between "Charge only" or "Disk drive".
Phone connects to PC as MTP-device.
Is it a feature or a bug?
Feature. Shows at a portable device now. When sd gets mounted you lose access to apps on sd while mounted
With mtp the phone functions 100% while hooked to pc to copy files or whatever
