Is it because its a UK version?
Also, i dunno if anyone else has the same problem but i can't get google+ to update, gmail to update, nor can i download facebook app either ?!?
Is it just me?

sounds like you got a knock-off of it and not a genuine tab. Or possibly not the tab 2.
what is the model number listed in settings?
Not so, it's was from carphone warehouse, it's genuine alright, but i expect it's cos it's a UK version or summat. Also, changing connection sorted the downloads out. Which is odd, cos i have two other android devices that work fine with my home network.

page 12 shows it not existing on the 3110 model
Bummer! Would have found that useful!!
Cheers for clearing that up tho
It appears only the us models have the ir blaster. I also bought the device based on the reviews, as the manual is not included, samsung should make a spec change like this clear. Still i love the tablet.
Yup, gotta be honest, for the wedge, it's great. Only thing lacking is the camera but i really don't think I'll be using it anyway.

I purchased a Galaxy Samsung Tab 2 7 inch 3G P3110 version in Singapore. There isn't any IR blaster port either.
There isn't much use for the IR blaster, not for me anyway. Samsung hasn't released the code for it, so the tablet is essentially a P3110 once a custom ROM is installed.

I'm seeing that both sizes of Galaxy Tab are posted together on the forums. Does this mean I can apply tweaks from the 7" to my 10"? Seems odd, thought I'd ask the experts...
Not Quite
Depends on what you want to do. You can get the 7" AOSP build configuration working as long as you use the kernel from the 10". ROMs built specifically for the 7" will kind of work, meaning that they'll boot, but the touchscreen won't work, among many other things.
Thanks for the answer--I would love to install a rom but development seems targeted toward the 7" these days (and the non-us 10") and I was envious of the chances to play with the tab after rooting. I've seen a posts about a couple of roms for the p5113 but not much feedback as to how they're working for folks.

Yup.
I'm using the kernel I pulled from my 10" P5113 in the /prebuilt folder. I'll have to do a quick compare of the respective folders tomorrow, but from what I recall there wasn't much more one had to do to get it running. I've verified that wifi and camera definitely work. Haven't had too much time to check out anything else.
Can someone point me in the right direction on specs of the Gal Tab2?
I have the original Galaxy Tab 7inch and want to take a step up. I love my tab, but i want a faster processor, an actual developer following, and the ability to use a bluetooth keyboard.
The wifi only (GTP1010) has crippled hardware compared to the 3G/Branded versions.
Did Samsung do the same thing with the Tab2.
Thank you for the help and sorry for what is I'm sure a repeat question. I did search, didnt find anything useful.

It have a great hardware and software specs(getting jelly bean soon).
But even if you want a more powerfully processor you can head to nexus 7.
I like my Samsung too much, thanks for the info. I belive i will be ordering the 2 soon.
If i could sync a Keyboard to my tab I'd never give it up.

There are a variety of BT keyboards here. Most KBs work fine with the GT-2

Hello.
i am a "developer" and i bought recently a galaxy tab 2 Wi-fi version for 200 euros, but I see that exists two versions.
Wifi and Wifi+3G, are they equal ? The same costums rom will work on both ?
I will ask some more questions after i got that awsner.
Thanks
Don't know all the details but I can tell you ALL the devs that make ROMs for these devices maintain seperate builds for the 3G version versus the wifi only version.
From what I have worked out so far is there are separate roms for three 5100-3g and the 5110-wifi & 5113&-wifi american version is the later two have IR Blaster and the 5100 3g doesn't and they can't seem to find a workaround for it so far as far as I can tell theres different roms because of the wifi&IR Blaster and 3g differences in the stock roms, this is just my observations from reading the forums I don't have any development knowledge at all

Hi all,
Sorry if this isn't the thread to post to, but I came accross this thread and feels like this is the place to post any SII Plus questions, correct if I'm doing something wrong.
I just bought a Samsung GS II Plus. Opinions, was it a good buy? I bought it for €179,99, as my budget was a bit tight. But there are several quad core available right now, especially the Wiko, which seem really nice.
I decided based on screen size (5" just feels huge!) and internal storage space (8Gb, 4 available to the user, which is quite disappointing). And of course, the price, which seemed like a good one, altough the specs aren't the most recent ones.
After buying it, used with Android ver 4.1.2 for a whole day and upgraded it to 4.2.2 as it was available.
Q1: What happened to the bubble lockscreen notifications with this update? They were replaced by a new kind of notifications that have absolutely no functionality at all.
Q2: Is it possible to have the bubble notifications back?
Q3: Will a Kitkat release be available to this phone?
Any answers you might provide are welcome.
TIA

You can change the lockscreen effect from the settings About the kitkat-you can try some custom roms bcoz i'm not really sure that we will receive official Kitkat
It's not the effect, but the notifications for unread SMS ans missed calls.

There are now many posts on the front page of this forum about this apparently being the case. (Just if you missed it)
