Verizon galaxy nexus to this - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

OK so I'm coming from a galaxy nexus? I'm wondering if the difference in performance is enough to switch ? If it is can you explain what it is it does better?

It has a newer processor and more RAM.

Was looking for hands on answer not so much the specs.

Well going off the specs it can be inferred that it does just about everything faster except it has touchwiz.

I would say stay with the nexus unless the camera bothers you, anything else run just as smooth un the nexus, the device is getting Jelly Bean before (most likely unless Samsung really changed that too) anything else so yeah I would keep it

How to turn off vibration
Everytime I get an email, text, or facebook, my phone vibrates. However, vibration is unchecked in these apps. This only started happening after I went to JB 4.2.1 and JB 4.2.2.

Is this an issue? If so create your own thread in the troubleshooting section.

Everyone knows nexus battery is the worst.
If you switch to a s3 it will be hard to switch back to the nexus.
However I do notice the s3 being a lot more snappy and overall faster then the nexus. (mainly rom/kernel based)
As for features.... It will depend on what roms you compare and if you hate touch wiz or not.
I myself would rather use the nexus.
But the battery is what did it for me:/
Both are great phones.
Sent from that young galaxy.
God bless the American people.

The S3 is far superior to the GNEX and I had one. Everything is better and if Aosp is what you need it is available.

Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S3?

Hey! I know I'm not the only one who has asked this, but I'm about to buy a new phone and I'm having a really hard time deciding!
I'm really liking the Nexus (though I really wished it had an SD card slot), considering it's from Google and so it gets what seems the best Android experience and support.
The Galaxy S3 seems quite impressive (though I dislike it's design), it has a much better processor, 8mp camera and other feauters the Nexus lacks. But I'm just wondering if it's really worth the money. Is the S3 far superior than the Nexus?
I want a phone I can customize, that runs smoothly and with which I can play some games (like Temple Run). Please, your pros and cons about both phones! That would help me.

If you're anything like me, the less you have to mess with buggy roms and flashing and potential bricks - the better. The GNex will have Jellybean out of the box, while for the S3 you'll be relying on custom roms and such that in my experience almost always have *something* wrong with them, and of course there's the potential of bricking your phone.
Regarding power, for the vast majority of applications the Nexus is well up to the task. There aren't many games or power apps that will chug on a Nexus but not an S3.
As far as cameras go let's face it phone cameras just aren't that great. If you really want to take good photos, get a camera.
The only true reasons I can think of to get an S3 over a GNex are 1: expandable storage since the GNex only has 16gb and no SD slot, and 2: removable battery. I find myself regularly having to pull the battery as a way to hard reset when something hangs or dies. Unless the GNex has a button of some kind that serves the same purpose (?) I would be worried about this, especially if you plan to root and flash.
TL;DR : If you like to flash roms and have lots of control, the S3 is a far better option. If you just want a nice phone that works well and doesn't have all the bloatware, and don't plan on storing massive amounts of stuff on it, the GNex is a better choice for the money.
Hope that helps

Hey! Digitel, which is a carrier from Venezuela, but if you're asking because of a contract, here we don't have contracts with carriers like in the USA.

It really helps! By the way, I didn't know the Nexus didn't have a removable battery! That's one of the reasons I discarded Xperia S and HTC One X.
A part of me is telling me to get the Nexus, which is cheaper, has more support, Jellybean out of the box and in general seems like a nice mobile.
The other is telling me to get the S3, which is superior hardware wise, has an SD slot and removable battery.
This is a tough decition! Haha. And like I said, I won't have a contract with any carrier, I just want to make a good choice. But thank you, you gave me good points to think about!
P.S.: By the way, the camera is not that important, I just want a decent one for when I have only my phone with me, as I love taking pictures. I currently have the Sony Xperia Pro, and I can't complain about the camera.
I don't know what that guy is talking about...but the Gnex has a removable battery.
I was in a similar situation and in the end I chose the Galaxy Nexus. You need to ask yourself:
Do you care more about hardware (camera, processor, looks etc.) or more about software (Jelly Bean, better development, etc.)?
Click to collapse
In my opinion:
1) If you are excited by new software updates and features, go with the Nexus...
2) If you don't care about software and ROMs and are just a normal user, go with the S3...
3) If you like Touchwiz or just want the most powerful phone at the moment, go with the S3...
4) If you want 'vanilla' android with no bloatware or themes or skins, go with the Nexus...
I went with the Nexus because I would have the phone for the next 2 years on contract and the Nexus would be updated, officially or via ROMs, for that period. Also, with the JB update on the Nexus, the Nexus is as fast as the S3 on ICS. The Nexus will be supported for quite a while as it is a 'Google' phone but the S3 will be outdated soon if you are on contract. Finally, development will always be more for the Nexus and, in my opinion, you are getting a phone which, although is not nearly as good as the S3, is half the price. Therefore, I think the price gap between the two phones is not worth the small gap in performance and usability. Hope the helped!
Removable battery is only an issue if you want to carry around spare batteries and swap them over as they die. Hold the power button for 10 secs on my One X and it does a hard reset.
If you can afford it I'd suggest the s3. Better hardware, not a pentile screen, excellent custom rom support, and just more flexible.
I'm wishing I got the S3 instead of my One X when I upgraded from my gnex.

I seriously don't understand why these guys are answering when they have no clue what they are talking about. So now the GSIII doesn't have a pentile display? Please show me a link stating that.
To be completely honest I'd strongly recommend the s3. Software you can change, hardware you're sick with. Will the nexus get software updates first? Yeah, but the s3 still ends up getting them. Hell my s2 it's getting jelly bean. The processing power boost is very noticeable, despite what people say. And with the nexus there will be times you'll notice it, it's very painful it doesn't hurt to get a nicer camera anyways, and your media experience will be fantastic with the s3. Not saying either are a bad choice, the nexus is a great phone, but I'd even choose the s2 over it, and i did. The s3 is very much better than the s2. In my personal opinion, i would say s3. Well if you are able to get the quad core version of the S3 then S3 > Nexus. If not I would probably go with the Nexus since it will probably save you a couple of bucks.

Another thing..if you go to the Nexus forums, there are ALOT of people that sold their Nexus, got a GSIII, missed the Nexus, sold the GSIII and came back to the Nexus. Yes, the GSIII has better specs, but technology is so good now that you hardly notice it (unless you are a hardcore gamer).
Thanks a lot! This is really a tough decision! Now I think I'll choose the Nexus, because as I said (and you said) it has more support and it's a great phone in general. What I don't like is that it only has 16GB ROM, if it had an SD slot, this would be much easier!

I've been having the same dilemma. Im a T-Mobile customer, but without an actual contract. I just have the plan that doesnt give a subsidized phone. Here is the think. I'm between the GS3, the Nexus or wait for the G Note 2 or HTC One X+. The GS3 is probably the best phone right now, but it cost as low as 600. It has a lot of functionalities, but i dont think anybody will use all of them. GNex will have more support for future Android version and it cost only 350. It doesnt have the same functionalities as the GS3 or it is not probably as responsive and I hate that doesnt have an option for microSD or an 8megapixel camera and specially that feels and loons a bit cheap. The G Note 2 and One X+ will be awesome, but will cost probably 600-700 and will go on sale as soon as septemter.
Right now im deciding for the GNex since has Jelly bean and will get more version. It is only 350. And I think it is as responsive as you really need right now. It has NFC, im not locked in wait for an Android update that could never get.
Should I go for it?
thanks
I'd say, go for the Galaxy nexus. Yes, the S3 is superior in some aspects but when it comes to customization I'd go for the Galaxy nexus. They're both customizable, yes. But the nexus is better cause it has support from Google. You won't need to flash roms just to experience the next big thing

Debating on new phone: Galaxy Nexus or SGS3??!!

Hey guys, I'm planning on getting a new phone contract and I'm really debating on 2 phones.. the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S3.
I'm right now using a Nexus S which I'm really happy with but Rogers is offering a really nice plan extremely better than my actual one and cheaper.
I'm just looking for some opinions from you guys to help me chose.
Thanks.
I never understood this kind of a question. It is just too subjective with so many factors. If having the latest and greatest software is important go with a Nexus. If not....you really need to compare and decide what is right for you. They are both great phones. I suggest handling them both and get a good feel for each.

S3 is supposedly getting updated to JB late in the fourth quarter 2012.
If you can wait, well then I say go for the S3, if not then go with the Nexus. Personally, my opinion is to grab the S3. You are on XDA after all! Grab yourself a custom Jelly Bean ROM! (The devs are everywhere on the S3 thread, expect one to come out soon if it hasn't come already.)
Definitely the s3 if you are a rooter or not because even tho the s3 doesn't have jelly bean officially its definitely worth the wait. The s3 has a faster processor, better screen, more ram, bigger battery, and overall newer hardware! Its worth the wait for jelly bean!

SGSIII if you like modding, installing new ROM's etc,
Nexus if not as you will get the latest firmware more or less first.
hi maxx1601! i've a galaxy nexus and personally i think is the best android phone for some reason: first it's the official google phone, so the android developing is based on it and with jelly bean google resolved the few ICS's bugs; second it has a dual core cpu (is enough for all android operation and using, we don't need more), that make battery good against the gsIII that has in my opinion too many power enhancements like quad core cpu ecc. that cause battery drain under android, has got a user interface that is second to google pure UI, that personally love; gsIII has olso a too big display ( nexus display is enough bigger, good for browsing, gaming, texting, using apps like maps and google earth that need a large display). my advice is to buy the galaxy nexus, and don't forgot, the price is olso a good thing to keep in mind it costs only 399 $ now ( mabe less i don't know) and is full supported for updates by google and developers that have a solid base made by google. i hope it helps, I wish you have a good choice! :fingers-crossed:

Agreed. HOX worth consideration... Amazing screen, hardware and build quality. Upgraded from GNex and very happy I did. Screens side by side makes AMOLED cringe worthy.
Future Shop also has Rogers HOX on sale for 29.99 right now. Honestly don't feel the GS3 is worth the extra $130.

And samsung was supposed to have ICS for most of their phones in the first quarter and didnt release them until the 3rd quarter. Thats probably the nicest thing about owning the nexus you know that you will get the updates and you will get them on time. The SIII will get support for updates until the next flagship samsung phone comes out and then they will put it on the back burner just like they did with the SII, skyrocket etc... That was the most frustrating part when i had my skyrocket, i had a phone that was less than a year old, had decent hardware and i knew it would probably never get updated past ICS, because once the SIII came out samsung and AT&T had moved on.

nexus FTW
Hey ive got an Galaxy Nexus now for over two month and I must say its just awesome, especially in combination with these forums (There are tons of good roms for the GNEX=
The best part about the phone is the stock android experience but thats personal preference.
I also tested the S3 and its a great phone but i dont like the Samsung custom Software that much.
I've had the Galaxy s3 for about a month now and love it.the camera options are awesome, decent selection of ROMs available and some cool compatibility programs if you have dlna devices at home.
Samsung Galaxy SIII (SPH-L710)

I have a question about this phone

I currently have a Nexus. My upgrade is due and I want a GS3 but somewhat hesitant to make the leap. I love my Nexus and am a flashaholic. How are the ROMs and how do you like this phone compared to the nexus

You do realize 99% of us come from droid x ...droid 2 thunderbolt etc.... none of us had a nexus.
VERIZON GALAXY S 3 (CM10)
I came from a nexus an its definitely worth the upgrade. I flashed non stop on my nexus an though I'm itching to do it on my sgs3, it really is perfect stock. The battery life absolutely trumps the nexus. I can leave my 4G on on my sgs3 an still get way better battery life then my nexus.
As far as roms, ive been browsing an there are a good amount of ROMs. Especially now the bootloader is unlocked, it will really open up. I say it's a without a doubt a no brainer to get this phone.

to the OP, we have a few options for roms. seems more every other day. with the advancement of unlocking the bootloader (hellz yaz), i am sure we will see more and more roms. the phone rocks. see no reason not to get it.
Can't speak for the Gnex users since I am coming from a DX....But personally I think the phone is ridiculously great. I flashed non-stop on my old DX and have only flashed Synergy so far on the SGS3. I still think some bugs need to be worked out before I start crack-flashing the AOSP ROM's. In all I really like it and would recommend it.
I supported the bounty for unlocking the Galaxy S III but am staying with stock for now, because it works quite well for my needs as-is. Would like to move up to JellyBean, but not a CyanogenMod variant of such - so, I'll wait . . .
If you like your Nexus, there might not need to be a reason for your upgrade to happen yet, despite most Nexus users that I've read in these forums saying the new S III has been an upgrade all-around. And, if you wait awhile, the S III prices will eventually go down, as well (perhaps when the competing iPhone 5 arrives?)

Your opinion on the S3

Hello all,
I currently have a HTC Thunderbolt on an unlimited data plan with Verizon. My phone is getting old, and is having a few problems. The screen has a few scratches on it, the battery life is poor, and I'm noticing that the speed isn't what I used to think it was. Consequently, I am thinking of purchasing a new phone and have given the Samsung Galaxy SIII some thought. I was wondering what you all thought about your phone and if there was anything you specifically disliked about it. I have been weighing my options, but have not made up my mind. Also, are there any other phones that you would suggest for me to investigate?
Thanks!
It's a good phone but I myself and my wife's phone suffer from poor signal reception and poor wifi signal. Not everyone experiences poor signal from what I've read on here and people I have talked to. Personally I'm about to leave Verizon or get another phone that's how bad the s3 signal reception is for me I can't speak for everyone else. If I can't make or receive phone calls or use my data, when where I had my HTC and Motorola devices i would have 2 to 3 bars more signal. I know a lot of people will come in and say that I'm full of crap but I'm just telling you my personal experience
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
nothing but good things to say here. people complain about the reception, but i nor anyone else i know in person has these issues. ive the same or better service with the S3 versus my MOTO and brothers HTC phone.
does verizon still do 14 day test drives on phones? can see if it effects you or not.
I'm not sure if they do or not. I'm actually on my friend's plan (he added a line to his plan that I pay for) so that I could get the unlimited data option. So, I have to actually find out if I can "upgrade" or not. I was kind of planning on just buying the phone on ebay and then setting it up to use it on the account/network. Can I ask where you guys are located that you are or are not receiving signal?
GS3 on Verizon is a great phone. No signal or wireless radio issues for me. It's a little better than my previous Razr Maxx radio which surprised me.
It's still a beast phone though it's dual core. Don't get too caught up in how many cores the phone has. I've played with both the DNA & Note 2 and I saw tiny bit of lag. Wouldn't think I did with quad core processors and project butter Jelly Bean. I feel it's fluidity, speed, functionality is more about how the software is optimized with the hard ware that's running it.
If the Note 2 isn't too big for your liking, I'd get that but the S3 is still a boss. I think some people who have radio problems may be having defected hardware or something where they live is blocking or affecting the phone's signal.
I'm leaning more towards they received a GS3 with bad hardware, antenna, something of that nature. Samsung has been known to make crappy wireless radios on a couple phones like the Epic Touch (GS2) and I heard Galaxy Nexus had a bad one too.
I don't think the S3 has a bad one though? I good great service on mines. Maybe I live near good towers? But then again even when I go places and I'm not home I get good reception. But like I said maybe Samsung did produce some with poor or defected radios?

The Galaxy Nexus had a terrible 4G radio in the ones I owned, so I can attest to that. GS3 though has been great reception-wise, so it sounds like the reception issues others have seen is most likely hardware-related.
I have a GS3 for work and I really enjoy it. I'd say go for it.
Go with the GS3 dude! U won't regret it. I heard the DNA was locked down so I'd either go with the GS3 or Note 2. If you want something managable when in comes to phisical size, I have the GS3 with an otterbox commuter case and it fits nicely in my pocket and I can easily navigate with one hand, the Note 2 may be a bit more difficult

I'm coming from a droid x & my GS3 is light years ahead of it!! No reception problems or anything bad to report at all. This baby only has a dual core processor but yet it smokes my Transformer Prime that had a quad processor! So yea cores mean nothing in most cases..found that out the hard way lol. As far as the DNA goes I hear the screen is nice but I also read on another site that the Samsung Galaxy 4 will supposedly be out Feb 2013.. Rocking a 13mp camera,1080p screen & a quad core processor. I was originally going for the note 2 but I'm absolutely loving the GS3...& I'm not even rooted yet lol.
I saw a DNA today at the verizon store. Not really impressed. S4 is going to blown it out the water.

The only issue I have had with the S3 was it would take forever to refresh my widgets when I restarted the phone. After spending some quality time with a Verizon tech who was actually very knowledgeable and helpful, we figured out setting Power Saving to "off" solved the problem. I am now using Clean Rom 4.5 (soon to be 5.0) and I can set Power Saving to "on" without a problem if I want. Weird.
My daughter is having issues with her current phone on Verizon and spoke to a couple Verizon staff on what they would recommend for a reliable phone. They all said Galaxy S3 was their top recommendation. Since they knew they weren't selling her a phone (they told her she should go through support and get a new phone for free given her continuing issues) I think they were being very honest with her.
I'm gonna laugh so hard if the S4 has no SD slot and a non removable battery. I can see them going that route to make the phone thinner and more durable

I came from the Galaxy Nexus and the only issue I had wiht that is battery life which was managable but don't expect to go more than 8-10 hours with it. Even still it was worth it to have a pure google phone. I got the SGS3 only because I got a killer deal on it off contract. So I'm rocking that now. If anything I would say go this way:
Galaxy Nexus (Cheap and Pure Google Experience with Roms)
Galaxy S3 (Great Battery Life all around great phone)
Galaxy Note 2 (If you don't mind the screen and want Quad Core)
Wait for Galaxy S 4 which should be out sometime next year if you can wait.
I haven't had poor reception with my GNex or my S3 so all is good there. Depending on how much money you have either of the above will be great phones.

If they want to make the phone thinner, however, those 2 options are things that would help big time.
If they do get rid of the SD slot, they should be smart enough to offer high internal storage, but you know that Verizon will try and stop them.
Verizon is most likely the reason the DNA doesn't have an SD slot, they want people to use more data to stream and download

Honestly this will probably be my last Samsung product.
The amount of bugs on this phone is inexcusable. On stock ICS TW:
- Can't use aux input with Bluetooth calls. This means if I was listening to music in my car through aux input and I got a Bluetooth call, I'd have to yank out the audio cord in order to hear the caller. Seriously, what the hell. I had this functionality working perfectly on a two year old phone.
- Google Music oddities. Sometimes when changing tracks the music stops playing. Turning on the screen resumes playing though. On the JB leaks this bug manifests in an even worse way and I have my doubts that it will be fixed for OTA.
And this isn't really a bug, but there's no way to disable the volume reduction upon plugging in an aux cable and that makes me sad.
So the answer lies in AOSP... thank god for our African Canadian sock monkey friend for leaking our unlocked bootloader... only...
- IMEI loss. Seriously Samsung? This is a huge oversight and is NOT the first time a bug like this has escaped their QA testing. Samsung products have been riddled with stories of bricks and poor code management across many of their devices, as one CM dev recently talked about.
- Real Time clock is oh-so-wrong. We're making CWM backups in the 70s! This one isn't too bad but its still annoying. Again, Samsung is to blame here.
- CM10 still early in development. I don't really know whose fault this is, whether it be Samsung for making things hard for CM devs to get things working on AOSP or a lack of attention for our device. Despite having a "stable" release, CM10 still has a number of known issues that I won't go over here. I still use CM10 and am eternally grateful to the person who pours their free time into giving our device AOSP (I love you, whoever you are) because those aforementioned issues are better than the alternative. It's still a situation where no matter which way I turn I have a buggy phone.
On my O.G. Incredible the only choice I had to deal with was having TV-Out and 720p video recording support or having ps3/Wii controller Bluetooth support. No matter which ROM I chose (AOSP or Stock) everything WORKED. With this phone I have to weigh the evils of each path and simply choose the lesser one.
I'm not really impressed with the DNA either. They do have an unlock (a very brick-prone one at that) but the hardware itself is riddled with issues (No SD card or removable battery, power button hard to press and is on the top of the very long device).
I'll probably get a lot of flak for this post, but its just my opinion. Aside from what I mentioned, I do enjoy the GS3. I just feel I could do much better

Galaxy S3 vs Nexus 4

I'm contemplating selling my Red S3 and buying the Nexus 4 in its place, is this advisable? I used to be on top of my game with phones but fallen behind, so any pros or cons of each device would really help.
Cheers.

Many of my friends bought s3 and want to sell it.
System errors or sth like that i don't really know why.
Nexus 4 ist in my opinion very good and cheap .
you get the updates at first and the over smartyphone later
But wait it will come a new Nexus phone from Motorola and Google
I switched from a OneX to the Nexus4. I'm so happy that I did it.
Let's say it like this: If it's OK for you to only have 16gb non-expandable storage and you can live with a bit a inferior camera, then the Nexus4 is so much better.
I have to admit, I just CAN'T live with 16gb. and I hate the the quality of the camera, though, I still like my Nexus4 more than my OneX.
I have only 1gig of storagespace free.. **** it.
The Nexus is just too good, there's no device I can think of wich I would like to use more.
It's incredible how much smoother that thing is compared to other droids, really.

I have an S3 and I looked at the Nexus4 in a store last week. I would say wait for the next one, unless you like the openness of the N4. Don't get me wrong, it's a great device and very cheap, but if you already have an S3, I personnaly don't see the point in switching. Both devices are great.
i think that S3 is the best becuase it is quad-core 1.4 Ghz and it is very fast..

Coming from someone who has never seen the specs on an N4...
S3 > N4
Oh, in my opinion, google did some basic matters false on the nexus 4. why for example do they push the user to use the google cloud? not adding enough space internally and lack the possibility to use a sd-card is ridiculous. True, the S3 hast some shortcomings too, but choosing from this 2 devices, I would definitly go for the s3.
Everyone have his own opinion
Galaxy 3 is way better than nexus 4. My comment is based on personal experience.

Are you crazy????
Sure the gs3 may cost more but it's got an SDCARD SLOT!!!! how much do you think you can last on 16gigs without an sd card???
Plus it's got a bigger screen and a faster.processor. the only reason it gets slowed down is because.samsung hasn't done a great.job at configuring hardware. So , disable startup junk, clean, overclock if you wish, speedhack, change kernel and rom.
you'll see the difference between nexus 4 and sgs3. Nexus 4 is a step below. I did my good deal of research a while ago, im happy i bought the s3.
the bigger screen is easier to use.
Ive got my 2800milliamper battery in it so it lasts a lot.
It's fast.
I know the nexys 4 is a good device, i won't deny it. But it's lacking much in hardware compared to gs3. Not only does it have a smalle screen, but part of this screen is taken up by softwarw buttons. while galaxy has got all the free screen space to use.
Dont get nexus!!!!!

In my opinion there is no contest on which phones better than the S3 or nexus 4.... S3 by miles, more storage, better camera, faster, better screen, newer phone & better technolgy! The only thing which is bad about the S3 is the plastic back case on the back of the phone. Plus this is like the same old question when it comes to phones.... which is better? iPhone or S3? Please dont get me started on the outdated software on the Apple iphone
But seriously its youre choice so think hard do some homework on it & try for youre self
But like some before have said its not worth getting a S3 at this time because the S4 is on the way.
Hope this helps

Deanr spoke.my mind. I believe he still has his galaxy though...anyways it would be wise to waiit for s4 to come out and then buy the s3 when prices really drop.
Also i can't understand why people keep making comparisons with android devices and iphone. There is NO comparison whatsoever. How can ios be 'cool' if there are just minor customization options?? Plus apple keeps blocking the jailbreak releases.making ios even more useless.
only things keeping ios alive are its apps and jailbreak. They'll soon be forgotten.....

See my experience thus far is nothing installs on SD, it gets sluggish so fast, there are definitely issues, I've not rooted it, as much as I want to, because it potentially voids my insurance cover. It frustrates me as the S2 did the app install so well but the S3 not so well.

You serious? The only thing you're right is the better camera and more storage.
Both, the screen and the CPU are much worse than the N4.
Better tech? whaaaat? The screen has a pentile matrix and exynos is really behind the snapdragon S4. Also, the newer phone is the nexus.
Don't tell things that you don't know exactly plz.
All you samsung users, your devices are awesome, granted, but they will never be as smooth as the nexus line.
OP, go try both phones. It's a matter of taste. you won't feel a real difference in daily use anyway, except you're a ROM flasher like me, then you should get a nexus by any means, because the development of the nexus line is so good.

You must be kidding me!! You're posting from a nexus 7 how can you say nexuses are fast? They are stable, they are smooth, but they will never be as fast as galaxy esses! (See benchmarks).
If a galaxy s3 a.d nexys 4 flash the same kind of rom and both optimize it for their phone, the s3 will be blazing fast and the nexus just smoother.
Sure nexus 4 has a good screen, maybe youre right and its even better quality, but its smaller and part of it is taken up by the soft buttons. Too bad, but i get to use all of my screen space. No lag at all (cause i know how to configure my s3). The only prpblem with s3 is it has been configured really badly by samsung...

posting from a S3
I have a n7 and a n4 y'know. Browsing XDA on my tab is a bit cooler xP
Are you a benchmark kiddy? benchmarks say nothing. and I got many friends with S3's, because samsung and apple dominates switzerland. There are almost no other models out here except S2's S3's and iphones.
Benchmarks of the exynos chips are not better than the ones from snapdragon s4 pro. Anyways, what matters in daily use is how smooth the phone is, not the speed and fps it can get in benchmarks (though, the S4 destroys the exyons when software is on same level).
Screensize/screen-estate? Since I own my n4 i never used onscreen-softbuttons. I'm using gestures with GMD Gesture control and deactivated the softbuttons on AOKP. That way I have the full screen of the n4 available, wich is really cool at a lcd-density of 240.
I don't say the S3 is bad. I just don't get the point why someone should get the S3 above the n4 when memory and camera don't matter.
R: Galaxy S3 vs Nexus 4
Ur right if memory and camera (ive never been an hd camera fan, but ive noticed having 8mp makes me wanna use the camera more) are not important to the user, nexus 4 is best chioice.
But even thought im not a benchmark freak, and even though i too have friends with galaxies and a friend with an s3 that has made his phone so laggy i had to get him a new rom and kernel, so obviously the speed of the device depends on users smartness, im NOT giving up on s3 performance. Wanna benchmark-battle?

I also know some guys with a S3 or S2 wich lags like hell. I don't know what they are doing, but those probs are mostly fixed when I flash them some good things.
Speed and user-experience depends on user smartness, that's really true
No benchmark battle for me, because my experiences are that kernels wich do better benchmarks mostly give worse userexperience in daily usage, but more fps in games.
But you can sure go and read some exynos 4412 vs s4 pro reviews, there are enough of them..
