Firstly, please bear with me for being a noob
My O1 is running mik_os' CM 6.5.7 from below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
Over all its good but I am not satisfied with the gaming performance. Do i need to install a kernel like the one from below or is it already included in the ROM by mik_os?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929941
Will installing this kernel improve gaming/general performance of the device?
Thanks in advance guys!
First you are using very old cm7 rom...
You can download and install the latest official cm7 from here http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=p500
You don't need to flash any other kernel as kernel is included in the rom itself.
If you want better gaming performance you may try this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529777
THAT ROM IS OLD
You should either download cm 7 nightly, or install cm9
If you install cm 7 then I suggest pp kernal or Franco kernal 4

Hello Guys,
I've got a few questions about upgreading my custom 2.3.4 to ICS.
Atm I'm using custom rom Cranium 3.1 based on XXKPH, with kernel 2.6.35.7-CL467143 [email protected] #1.
What should I do now, to get ICS on my SL.
1. Changing on stock rom ? If yes, then which one?
2. What with kernel ?
Thanks.
It doesnt maatters that which rom r u currently on but be on latest gb rom with cf root to be on safer side.
Then download cm9 zip from the respective thread then follow the instructions to install it on that thread.
Keep in mind its not completely bug free but still it is quite usable.

1. No need to change to stock rom if you just want to switch to ics, of your phone is rooted and had clock work mod, then you just need to flash any custom ics rom like remics, cm9 etc.
Then you can even change the kernel to vurrut or arindam or dhiru etc.
Firstly to consider, you're on kph. to have a stable base band, either flash kpq or kpu.
Follow this order
Xxkpe>xxkpu/kpq>root with bagaria.tar> ics rom> kernel(optional).
Search among the stickies on android development.
Press thanks if helped
Hello,
I am using hep's ics rom.
Can I flash stock GB rom and then root it, flash custom recovery and install a custom kernel like franko's kernel over stock gb rom?
Any idea how would be the performance then?
Thanks..

You don't need to do all this stuff, there are a lot of modded stock Roms (custom kernel & rooted) available in Android Development thread, just search.
Try resurrection rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574523
If you look performance then get oxygen gb that's what i use

I am looking for battery life as good as stock ROM..
What should I go with?
1. Stock GB
2. Resurrection Rom
3. Oxygen GB
??
I used CyanogenMod 7 nightlies and I think that the battery life was longer. Now I use CyanogenMod 10.

oxygen gb for sure
Just try ressurection rom. It's really having a great battery life with very less tweaks and of course the best camera.

I have downloaded CM 10 from get.cm and installed it on my galaxy tab 2, and flashed it through recovery. Does flashing the ROM means I am using CM kernel or I have to download the kernel and flash it manually?

You will be using the CM kernel

Besides the CM kernel, are there any other kernels who offer a smoother transition to the higher CPU speeds or more governors?
You will use CM kernel. Coz they are only match with CM ROM .
Sup, so I'm still quite the noob at all the rooted stuff, like flashing etc... I have franco kernel and im running cm, when i update my kernel am I supposed to flash the kernel again or will it actually be updated?
For which phone n its not necessary to flash again n again unless u flash with custom rom

(But CM has really good kernel)
When flashing a custom ROM the kernel is flashed as well. Most of the time that kernel is an adapted kernel of a widely used one (e.g. Semaphore or DerTeufel), so that it can be verified in conjunction with the ROM. So yes, when flashing the custom ROM, immediately after that flash the kernel of choice. With the right app, you can even configure the kernel and play around with strings and scripts

Atm i have elementalx kernel installed and thinking about switching to franco when i install a new rom. I am on stock rom and will probably flash to Slimkat, will i just have to flash Rom + google apps and then elementalx/franco?
Read the op for slim. If it says to flash gapps then you'll need to do that. Then flash the kernel
