Ok, so I was given a Sylvania SYNET7LP 2.1 tablet. I know there is a thread about this device, but it has proven useless to me so far. What I am asking for is a link to a stable/decent ROM for this thing, as well as instructions on how to root/flash it. It is little more than junk as is, but I am sure there is some sort of way to make it better. PLEASE help me out with this thing. Thanks in advance.

link to update to Froyo 2.2 -very good job here!
here is link to resources...impressive !
did you know that:
(from above site )
Not All Tablets Connect to the Android Market
Google doesn't have a lot of control over Android once it gets released to the masses, but they do have control over the Android Market. Until Honeycomb, Google did not approve non-phones to connect to the Android Market. That means if you get a cheap tablet that runs on Android 2.2, for example, it won't connect to the Android Market. You can still get apps, but you may not get as many apps, and you'll have to use an alternative market to download them.

Custom Sylvania ROM development
conclusion :who loves tablets?
thanks alot for the links. You know the wierd thing is, alot of people have told me with 100% certainty that play store would not work on this tablet, but after i updated it, I found a post on a random forum somewhere on here to download com.android.vending-1.apk and i downloaded it onto the tablet and, much to my surprise, IT WORKED! Market runs fine, no force closes, but it tells me alot of the apps arent compatible, at which time I search google. But other than that it works just fine. Strange.

Hi xda-developers,
We are about to launch PadKite in the Android market and we are currently collecting feedback from real users. Beta version now available for download at padkite web-page. As a new user we are not allowed to post links, please let us know your feedback on the application. You can also subscribe to our Beta Program. We are eager to hear your opinion.
PadKite is also an excellent app for tablets so we are also looking for people to test it on their tablets. Whether your multitouch device is a phone or tablet. Your feedback is very important to us. For any questions, please reply to this post or contact us at PadKite Contact us.
More about PadKite™: PadKite™ is the first multi-touch mobile mouse created to manage the tiny content on our cellphone screens. Never fumble or miss a target again. Breeze through favorite websites in a flash with customizable multitouch gestures. Post media and text to Facebook, Twitter, and blogs, all at the swoop of a fingertip.
Wow! This looks like an awesome tool!
There's only Éclair and Froyo versions available though, I'm running custom Gingerbread on my N1.
I tried running the Froyo version on my N1 anyway, but it Force Closes as soon as trying to open the app.
Any ETA on a Gingerbread version? I'm quite eager to try your product!
They said a GB compatible copy will be along soon.
I really wanted to try it but it force closes on me.
Always wanted to tryout multi-touch...
nice stealth edit trololol...
Sounds interesting, I'll check it out.

They included the complete libwebcore.so in there effectively including a complete web browser in their so called mouse driver. What up with that?
Just sitting and clapping my hands :]
looks wonderfulll .. Did anyone try it already ? does it seem safe and real?
btw: So I've understood that it is a browser like dolphin and others. .. does it include Flash? (btw does it have hebrew as other browsers?)
Hi xda-developers,
Hope you are enjoying flying the web with PadKite, the first multitouch mobile mouse.
Yes, it is a web browser. It includes extended Webkit libraries that makes it heavier. Hopefully these will be able to be submitted into the WebKit build on the near future. The application does not include Flash for the moment and does not run on top of the OS or other applications. As a new concept we are starting small running as a stand alone browser aiming to grow bigger. We are braking the mold on multi-touch interaction and that has to be gradually. As you might have notized it has a lot of potential.
Currently we are making adjustments in order to run in all versions. This requires a lot of effort however it will allow PadKite to run in almost all devices. If you want to run on a Gingerbread version, let us know via our contact form and it will be delivered shortly.
Some users have experienced problems with Android versions of FRG83D and FRG83. We are currently looking into this and we will come up with a solution shortly. If you have problems, running PadKite on your Froyo, please contact us via our contact form too or join our beta program. We need as much information as possible from our users (especially your Logcat). Also, take part in our beta program and you will be the first to get updated on new versions.
Please follow PadKite on Twitter and get up-to-date info on new builds at padkite account.
Thanks for helping us make PadKite even better!
Cheers,
Jose Vigil
RoamTouch CEO
looks great, I'm looking forward to trying it when its available for Gingerbread.. also it would be great to get the adobe flash integration working.. But looks like a great concept, original and useful.
Bumping this, as it is a clear winner as a productivity tool, but so few people seem to have heard about it. I'm a huge fan, and that's based on only having seen the videos, as well as it partially working on a mate's Xperia X8 (the X8 lacks multi-touch, so is unable to take advantage of some of the more powerful features, such as text-selection via second finger-rotation, although as a pointer it works perfectly)!
Hoping they get back to me soon with an offer into the Beta program, as I'm dying to get this app! Also hoping they take it further, and fast, so that it becomes an integral Android feature, rather than just a browser tool.
This is a game-changer, people, so get on board and bring your family and friends!

Don't hold your breath on this one buddy. I gave up. I recieved 6 APK's from the dev...not one of the worked. FC every time. I was working on it with him for quite a time, and it never worked. Seems to only work on one or two phones.
Won't be holding my breath, but certainly won't be abandoning hope! If those who have been able to get it working could post details of which model phones they have, as well as the models that haven't worked, plus current Android version, the devs might be able to narrow the issue down. Not sure if I'm able to start a new thread, being a noob and all, so if people could list the following in this thread it would go a long way towards getting us what we want:
Phone model
Android version (stock or rooted)
Whether it worked or not, and if not, at what stage it crashed, plus any further comments.

Send the dev any info you like...it didn't help. I was in contact with him for a few weeks. I don't 'abandon hope' unless it's time to abandon it. After emailing back and forth for a few weeks, then not hearing back from the dev for the last 3 months, I would say it's abandonment time.

Well thank you SO much for your diplomacy. You must be new here. I was just sharing my findings. Did you even notice the last post before you necro'd this crappy app...was from Feb??? There is a reason for that.
Good luck with getting things figured out around here.
Crappy app, perhaps, but only in terms of its failing to work for most who've tried it thus far. The idea itself is a brilliant one, I believe!

95% of brilliance is implementation.
I can think of a bazillion good app ideas...but making them actually work is where the real skill is. I am upset with padkite because they seem to have spent all this time on making a website and sharing the idea...then they spent 2 minutes actually BUILDING the app...and it's garbage.
This looks fantastic. I downloaded and try to join beta program, to improve your software.
And 14mb is nothing, nowdays phones have 1gb or so of ROM space. Or move it to SD card.

Are you suggesting that they faked the videos of padKite working on the Motorola (Droid?) phone? Because unless they did indeed fake the videos, then they had the app working on at least one phone! Obviously more than 2 minutes were spent, and I'm guessing the problem to be overcome is actually a rather minor yet befuddling one.
As stated earlier, I've seen padKite partially working on a mate's Xperia X8, so we aren't talking vaporware, here. Please, Mean Mr Mustard, change your heart and let hope in, and encourage others to do the same, instead of working against what you've already acknowledged is something good enough to upset you by virtue of not working for you.
There must be some out there who've been able to get padKite at least partially working. Chime in, fellows, and let's make this fairy well again!
Just remembered this for those who may not know:
ViewSonic.com has several pages of information and resources at
http://www.viewsonic.com/gtablet
You will find a row of tabs at the top that will provide everything from sales info
to specs, to support info to "Favorites."
Favorites is my favorites tab because the list a bunch of links to commonly
used software and some sites. Click and you're there. Convenient.
Worth a look.

The Favorites links point to APK downloads that you should be able to install on any device, so it shouldn't matter if you are rooted and modded.
For at least one of the apps they link to (Android System Info), the version they link to is quite outdated, and the market has much more recent version, that works and doesn't crash all the time.
sstair,
That one has NEVER worked worth a hoot for me!

I think the Gtablet Favorites page is primarily for users running stock ROM who don't have Market. As such, links are to APK files hosted on third-party sites and often the latest versions are not available.
Another good resource for off market apk's is 4shared.com and then search for .apk Tons of great apps that you may be looking for
Everybody has probably already noticed this, but I think its cool that Viewsonic links to XDA on the favorites page. I don't have 8 posts so I can't link. Just go to the link in the 1st post and look under the developer resources heading.
I agree, that Viewsonic linked to XDA was one additional thing that encouraged me to go with the Gtab. How many other companies do you see encouraging Dev's?

Not many. I think Viewsonic is the only company I've seen that is pretty much blatantly endorsing devs. If Viewsonic didn't like what people were doing with their devices, that link would not be there. Its a nice change from all these OEMs trying to stop devs or at least slow them down.

Pretty much every company that doesn't wanna deal with the development, as well as troubleshooting and support, themselves.
Yea it would be kinda cool if it was a "Hey, here is XDA, you should check them out if you don't like out development stuff", but it wasn't, it was more of a "We're not doing development, so you might as well try here and see what you can get".
i cant go to recovery mode can you help me?

Alright I am a total NOOB, to root. Yesterday I followed the instructions and successfully rooted my device. But now the curiosity rises in me, So if anyone can help me with these questions. and throw other suggestions out there for me and help me out with instructions or even just simple ideas and tutorials for anything that would be great.
Now that I am rooted I am curious as to some good Free (for now until I can get my card loaded with some money to get more apps that are paid) ((so free and paid would be good to list, but for right now mostly free)) root apps? I have seen a few but I am not to sure which ones are good to download or which would be good apps to use. Definitely a good Overclocking Underclocking app =) I would like to push this thing and also have the ability to have a little more of a power saver when I'm just doing things at home and such.
Side Note: I did download Meta Morph & Ad Free. for Meta Morph does anyone happen to have a link maybe a tutorial site for how to actually use it or anything having to do with that? Maybe even a forum link on it?
This is my last question for now. Kind of stumped due to how many there actually are listed throughout the web for the device I am using Samsung GS2 Skyrocket. Can anyone list any ROM's that they would recommend to try out on this device. I'm looking for something smooth that has been around for sometime and has more than one development project? (but ultimately I am waiting on a Jelly Bean leak for this device =).)
I Thank all of you who can help me in advance and Thank the person who posted the original root for the leak and root on ICS 4.04 for this device. it was a big help and a great success. Everyone have a wonderful day. and thank you again. hope someone can help me =)

well, here is original thread for NinjaMorph made by author of that app ( MetaMorph has the same author)
if you get free app from Market this is very limited you can only change images in framework-res.apk also you need to use a PC to finish your job finally NinjaMorph/MetaMorph is used to compile files in apk if you want to do something do it from scratch or use a tool like APK Manager
also try Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen this make a good job for you just upload framework file ..
do not forget the gold rule: do a nandroid backup before editing system files/framework

I am a complete and utter noob as well, just rooted my tf300 last night actually. The app I'm using for overclocking is EZOverclock, however all it's doing is overclocking it doesn't have the features I was looking for (managing battery and such). Depends on what app supports your device and also some of the best rooted stuff may not be in the marketplace.
I also got Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper so I can receive updates and possibly not lose root. Titanium Backup to manage apps, remove anything I deem "bloatware". And of course the most essential was Sixaxis controller so I can use my ps3 controller for gaming.
Course I'm a noob and I just got some of the apps just to get the job done until I find something better.
So, another day another game thats not compatible with our devices despite being compatible with the Prime and Nexus 7 (can anyone confirm that this works on the Nexus 10?)
My question is has anybody managed to get it working and if so how?
Thanks in advance

Can't commit about whether it's working on a Nexus 10, but it not working on my TF700 is frustrating me too. While you can't download it from the store, I've tried installing several different versions and it closes on all of them after the title screen appears.

i heard that it does work on the nexus 10 from other forums. Exactly the same story for me my friend, tried about 6 different .apk files all with the same result. It is lazy development by EA especially if the screen resolution is the problem, since the Nexus 10 has a higher one. It makes no sense for a top end device to lose so much compatibility.
I sent EA an email yesterday asking why, and now im waiting for a reply.
Sit tight
Cool. Will be interested to hear if EA responds. My guess is if they do they'll place the blame on Asus and/or Nvidia.

well actually they havent even bothered to reply to me yet, despite me sending 3 emails. its been over a week now, they obviously can't be arsed because they are awful developers.
I'll keep on trying anyway, got nothing to lose right?
a small update
So i actually managed to get a reply from EA (not to the email i directly sent them, which has now been over two weeks since ive had a reply, but a forum topic i started about the compatibility).
They said "It is the decision of the company that builds the device, which Android version runs on it. The Simpsons: Tapped Out requires Andriod version 2.3.3 (or higher)."
Er what? For starters android tablets dont run anything lower than honeycomb (aside from the original galaxy tab), and the TF700 is a MUCH newer device so automatically runs at least honeycomb. As we all know it did in fact come with ICS.
So yeah, pretty unhelpful, but at least i got a reply. Waiting for the next one now i guess.
LOL. That's an even more useless response then I expected you'd get, but thanks for the updates.
UPDATE!
I received an email from EA today:
"Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.
I sincerely apologize for the delay in response. Going forward, we would do our best to respond in time.
Having going through your email I found that you want to know about the compatibility for the game "The Simpsons: Tapped Out". I'll do my best to help you out.

Go on guys, follow the google link, you'll find its worse than useless.
I guess im grateful for a reply FINALLY, however aside from "helping me out" that link made the reply useless.
Lets all give EA a round of applause.

Actually....
Appologies for not posting sooner but ive been pretty busy with uni.
Anyway i have indeed received another reply. After them asking me what device i was using, what version and what the problem with the game is (!!!), they forwarded the information i gave them to another department :-|. THEN i got a reply...
They said that they would forward my query to the studio who actually make the game, and they will deal with it.
However, they said that i shouldnt really expect a reply, and even then they may do nothing. He ended by saying the game may or may not ever be compatible. Great.
I definitely shall be joining that forum and voicing my opinion, it worked for the sims free play after all.
At the moment it doesnt seem likely.
Wasn't there a "worst company" award recently?

I did wonder if this device was compatible given the strong similarities. Thanks.
still no compatibility despite the latest update. Im gonna go on the forums and complain some more and request that the 4.3 update also includes compatibility I suggest everyone else does the same for the maximum impact.
SUCCESS!!
MAJOR UPDATE! The compatibility on the play store still lists the game as incompatible.
HOWEVER, google search "the simpsons tapped out v4.3.0 apk" and click the third link (it's apkwikipedia). You will find an apk to download in a zipped format (.zip or .rar can't remember). Anyway, the apk is working and as i speak im downloading the updates on the main page!
It is a modded apk (at least one of the .apk files in the package is) so you will get unlimited money.
Regardless, it is now possible to play the game on the tablet. I will update any problems/issues encountered once i've tested it.
Download and get playing! Spread the word!
EDIT: i have played around with it and everything seems to work as well as on my phone. If you lose your friends list, just sign in and out again of origin and they should turn up.
Finally got this game to work on my Asus TF700 and not by using a modded apk. Got fed up with the freezing and force closes that I was experiencing ever since I got this tablet using the official firmware, so I unlocked and rooted my tablet and loaded the Cromi-X rom onto it. Big improvement in performance. And to get This game to work, I downloaded an app called Market Helper which tricks thr Play store into thinking your phone or tablet is a different phone or tablet. The Market Helper app requires root, isn't available in the Play Store (so google it to find it) and while I couldn‘t get it to work the Play Store app, it worked great via the online Play Store (and once you reboot, your device ID goes back to it‘s orginal state).
Glad more people are getting it to work. To clarify, the link i posted does has both a modded .apk and a non added .apk
Also, slightly unrelated, how is Cromi-X performance wise? Was it easy to do? Did you keep all your apps and system preferences? Will it be possible to keep the game when installing this custom rom? Need to do more research before i commit!
The information I have been able to find here and on the web for this device is rather old, so I am doing this thread in hopes of receiving some new information.

I see this thread, and would like to try it but would appreciate updated information regarding it, as the last post is nearly 3 years old. Is this thread still correct? Is this the best answer for the Crossover?
I've seen stuff I'd like to try but am not the one to be the first. I'd like to not brick my device.
Is this phone capable of installing Replicant or CyanogenMod? Their sites do not list it as being able but also possible is that nobody cares about it.
Is there something else that would be better for this device? It is kinda weak, especially by today's standards. I really only use it to play music and voice record, but it can do more, I am sure. What is some possible recommendations for this device besides just using the stock OS?
I recently did a factory reset on it and found to my surprise that the play store no longer works. It has 'market' installed but the market app crashes. I found f-droid and am relatively happy with it but would like to make the most of the device. Your expert opinion on it would be very helpful. Thanks.

Hi friimynd. I couldn't find much information about your device here so I recommend just posting in that thread if you can't find any updated information. Your device is not that common here so there aren't that many topics to pick from.
