I just bought this tablet a dew days ago. I'm really liking it so far. I loaded a digital copy of a Disney movie for my daughter. The cdrom said it was windows media player or iTunes compatible. I loaded the media player file onto my as card on the tablet.
It tries toplay but it is all messed up. I tries real media player and that didn't work either. .
Any suggestions? It was one of the main reasons I bought it, so that my daughter could watch movies when we travel.

What is the file's format? Try downloading MXplayer from the store and run the movie there.

After the name of the name of the file there should be a dot and an extension (e.g. .avi, .mp4, etc)

Hmmm it says beautyandthebeast_port_en and the other filename is beautyandthebeast_pc_en. My guess is the port one is for portable devices such as tablets and the pc one is to be played from a computer. There are no file extensions. Very strange....

you have to "turn on" the show extensions option, by default it's "turned off"

While you have the sdcard on the tablet (with the movie on it), tap the status bar on your tablet (where the clock is) you should be able to see a rectangle notification that says "External storage insert" with a little folder beside it, tap that little folder. This will open asus file manager, you should be able to tell the file extension through this manager, so look for your movie file and post what you see after the dot.

I copied a bunch of ebooks over to the Transformer and have noticed that all the cover images are showing up in the gallery, including ones which have always had a .nomedia file already in its folder. Anybody else having a similar problem?

Had the same issue.
Did a reboot and then it worked.
Yeah I've seen the same thing, having game music and cutscene movies showing up in the music app and things showing up in the gallery that shouldn't. All files are in a folder with a .nomedia file but still scans them.

Well, I rebooted and prior to that, I put a .nomedia file in the root directory for my books instead of each individual folder. I still have the covers, but at least they're in one folder in the gallery now.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101-B1 1GHz nVidia Tegra 2 1GB RAM/ (32GB SSD)
If so, how?
Add? What do you mean add?
Download you mean?
Yes, there are programs on the market - I use TubeMate.

I mean add. How to get a YouTube onto the
Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101-B1 1GHz nVidia Tegra 2 1GB RAM/ (32GB SSD)
I would like to download on my other computer and then copy to SD card and then use that SD card on the EEE. I was told however that the file (.flv) would not be in correct format and would have to be converted to MP4.
I do not want to download YouTube video directly to the EEE.
Yes you can. I use mobo player from three market and it plays all sorts of files.

How would you do that please?
I have an app on main screen that says "Market." Is that what you are talking about?
And you would be able to download videos from YouTube?
(I think it would be better to download YT videos to SD card to save space on the EEE.)
Well you clearly do not know, what you need to do, if you can't indentify the Market.
Moreover, You can download to desktop and copy over the file - FLV is played as well.
BTW, TubeMate also downloads files as MP4.
And why not directly to the Transformer? You can move the file to the MicroSD on the device itself.
You need to do the following:
1. Start "Market" App
(if necessary register with your google account)
2. Search vor tubemate
3. install and start
4. select Youtubevideo to download
5. choose destination for your video.
6. start again Market
7. search for "mobo"
8. install Mobo-Player
9. Open Youtube Video - downloaded in step 6 with mobo player
10. worked?

Music for pad allows you to choose which folder(s) to look for music in. You can navigate to the external.

Definiately. I have been using it since 1.3 on my Desire (bought it), but it was not working on the transformer until now.
Poweramp 2.0.1-build455 works flawlessly on the Transformer and the best music player out there (I tried PlayerPro, Mixzing, Winamp Pro, Doubletwist, wPlayer etc. but always came back to this one)

Do you have a rooted tablet? If so, this is easy! All you need is a kernel like clemsyn's or roach's with the tun/cifs module and a cool program called CIFS Manager. This will allow you to mount any network share as if it were a local folder on your tablet. Then any media player should see the music share as if it were all stored right on your tablet, even the default music app. Easy as pie.

Well, now I'm on Krakd and Poweramp behaves strangely as well - before that (stock) All I needed to was go to settings, set the folders where it should scan for Music and voila, it was working - now it acts up and does not work - however if I run a track from the External HDD from Astro (selecting Poweramp) it plays without any problems... strange.
Edit - maybe you are lucky - just set up PowerAmp to look for music on the external HDD (disabled by default)

Try "/sdcard/share" without the quotes as the mount path, then it should appear in your file manager or other apps is the local folder "share"

Hey guys,
This doesn't make sense to me - music players won't detect an externally connected usb drive or stick. I have tried Google Music, PlayerPro (full), Jetaudio, and poweramp. None of them search for the external usb even though the device knows it is connected. I can play files individually from file manager but can't shuffle the contents of a folder full of music.

From what I see, although we have usb host abilities there are few devices that work this way. Your device will periodically scan for new media when things change and rebuild the library. Due to the time and power it takes to do so external devices are not scanned in this. All of the players basicly work off of the internal media list of the os's scan so unless one can be found with device, and I would bet root access I don't see this working.
Although above my head I could see a developer being able to build this ability into a kernel at a later date. Battery would suffer greatly though.

The media scanner has nothing to do with the kernel. Any music player that can play folders should still work fine for external drives.
When the external is plugged in, the os scans it anyway. If they do operate the way you say, then the player should recognise the files as just 'there' and we would be able to play them.

Couldn't find it by searching but I was curious if there is some type of app that works as a remote control for the TF300T.
I just want something that works with a video player so i can pause, stop, play, etc videos. I don't need full functionality i just want something that works and I would considering paying for the app as long as it worked. Id love if they made an actual remote but i never have seen one.
Thanks.

You could install XBMC for Android and use any XBMC remote on another PC/tablet/phone.
Usually people use XBMC remote on the tablet to control their media PC, but there is no reason, why it should not work the other way around.

Yes, exactly, should work like a charm. With a good remote you should even be able to browse the library with fanart, info, watched status, etc. For Android I can recommend Yatse, but there are lots of others.
Just need to make sure the firewall settings on your tablet allow the remote to connect, but that is a common issue for any kind of remote control protocol.

Hmm, not sure, where your problem is. XBMC for Android is a fully featured XBMC version with audio and video support. Can even pull live TV over the network, if you run one of the supported backends somewhere.
It is doing much more than just controlling mxplayer. It turns your tablet into a full multimedia box.
Oh, you might have to point XBMC at the directories, where your videos are stored. It does not use the Android media manager. Somewhere in the "Videos" tab you should find an "Add source..." item.
Hope this helps!
