I just got my One X international version and I have had a little experience flashing ROMS in the past, my question is about the order in wich this steps have to be followed:
1. Bootloader unlock
2. Rooting
3. Flashing ROM
or
1. Rooting
2. Bootloader unlock
3. Flashing ROM
And is there an extra step (flash thing) before or after flashing a custom ROM?
1. Rooting
2. Bootloader
3. Custom recovery
4. ROMssssss
This is the forum for the S4 version, the One XL. There is a seperate forum for the international version.

Wrong Forum. This is the Evita One X(L) forum
With an international your first order of things is correct.

Thank You
My Present situation:

-locked Bootloader
I want:
-root access only for a few apps

Root and OTA doesn't go well together. Plus, you don't need to root your phone to apply ROMs.
You can deny su (root) access for apps if you want.
How to root:
Unlock bootloader (fastboot oem unlock)
Install custom recovery (fastboot flash recovery <recovery name>.img)
Install su.zip (install zip from sdcard)

Hi,
I was wondering if you had to be rooted to install a custom rom on my phone. Thanks
Rooted no. S-off or unlocked by HTCdev yes.
Once your either one of the above, you need to flash a custom recovery, then you can install roms and root.
my phone was originally on vodafone but today i switched to 3 i was wondering if i flash the 3 ruu to my phone will it come with all the correct settings and 3 boot logo etc? Thanks

Hi. To install CM10 you need:
1. Unlocked Bootloader -> https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
2. CWM -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1973904
3. Flash Rom Procedure (CM10) -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1993888
Beware after unlocking the bootloader because you can brick your device by modifying it.
Unlocking the bootloader will void device warranty.
Greetings
Hello all,
I consider to install a custum roms on my TF700T, running Android 4.2.1, Build number JOP40D.ww_epad-10.6.1.14.10-2013081
I already know that I have to take the following steps:
1. Unlock by using the ASUS unlock tool
2. Root
3. Install TWRP recovery
4. Select a Custom ROM
After a lot of googling and searching on this forum I am still not sure how to root the tablet with this build number. Can someone help me out? Any other tips are welcome as well of course!
Thanks in advance!

You currently can't root 10.6.1.14.10 without a custom recovery. But you can install TWRP via fastboot on an unlocked unrooted tablet, then simply install a rooted custom ROM from TWRP.

I presume you are also on the 4.4.2 bootloader and modem, and not on an earlier bootloader/modem pair and a custom 4.4.2 ROM. If this is true, NE1 bootloader and modem, you have very few options. I think there are three ROMs to choose from: stock, SuperLiteROM, and PaulPizz. Before installing either of the last two you will need to root and then install the Unofficial SafeStrap. Links to SafeStrap are in the OPs for the two ROMs. SafeStrap will tell you how to root, I used TowelRoot two months ago.
If flashing the ROM you choose does not fix the APNs then you may need to reflash the modem that corresponds to your bootloader version. If you are uncertain about the versions of your bootloader and modem you can check with a PlayStore app, Phone Info *Samsung* by vndnguyen. Another option for checking is these commands in a Terminal Emulator:
Code:
getprop ro.bootloader
getprop | grep version.baseband
thnk's men , but now i have another , before i don't know , so i installed rom manager and CWM recovery , now when i boot in recovery i get this
secure fail : kernel
system software not authorized by verizon wireless

That was the point of my other post.
You said you were on 4.4.2. If you have the 4.4.2 bootloader (I535VRUDNE1), you can not flash any AOSP or CM based ROM. Your only option in this case would be to install Safestrap and then one of the two ROMs which I linked. You can not downgrade this bootloader without bricking the phone. If must use one of these ROMs to get a custom ROM, you could flash SuperLiteROM and use XPosed and it's mods to tweak your device.
There is the possibility that your phone has an earlier bootloader and a 4.4.x custom ROM, this would let you flash CM or AOSP. I posted two ways to check your bootloader version. I recommend you do one of these before trying to flash anything else to avoid bricking the phone. If you have the NE1 bootloader look back to my previous post.
