You need to root and then find the rom for your device, go to the XT720 development and hacking forum.

I don't know if there's a Milestone X section, but I would try asking in the Droid X section. "Milestone X" == international GSM version of "Droid X".

[Q] Rooting a droid x with latest update

I am going to trade in my Droid A855 for a refurbed Droid X at Verizon. Assuming it has the latest post 2.2 build on it, what would be the best way to root it once I get it, assuming it can be done?

z4root is probably your best bet, which can be found here on XDA.
Do it
z4root.apk is the best and easy way of doing it. also official firmware is 2.2.1 but there is a leaked gingerbread 2.3.3 running amazing way better then 2.2.1. you will hate 2.2 but moto did a really nice job on 2.3. its very easy to root and flash

The Milestone X and the Milestone are not the same device. The Milestone X is a Droid X released this year but for smaller companies such as Alltel and here,in Puerto Rico, Open Mobile.
The problem we Milestone X'ers face is that we have to risk accidentally making them Verizon Droid X's, in other words making them useless on our carriers since the only ROM's available are designed for the Verizon Droid X.
I've made this mistake I can't get to activate my phone with Open Mobile Puerto Rico. Let me know if you find anything that covers Open Mobile PR carrier.
A curious thing happened by the way. When I installed the stock update rom 2.3.340 for Verizon the first time and I tried to activate if was of course for Verizon Wireless, so I did reinstall and tweaked a bit, but after a while I started getting activation for Claro PR.
I have no clue what changed but just a thought for brainstorming.
Try The Droid X Roms, Its A Possibility That They Work. --> Droid X <-- . But Make Sure You Nandroid First

droid x sbf to froyo

OK, I have looked on the internet and have not found a clear answer. Is it safe, or even possible to sbf to stock froyo from the official ota android 2.3.3 gingerbread build for the Droid X
This thread has been up for a while, and I guess I might as well answer my own problem.maby my question will help others.Yes, you certainly can sbf flash from the gingerbread over the air build on the droid x and numerous other phones to froyo. Another phone is the droid 2 global. You can go from build 4.5.607 gingerbread to 2.4.29 froyo.
sbf stands for super base 95 file I believe
What exactly does sbf stand for?

BUMP...same question. the dev is working on a version for the maxx, but says they are waiting on a new x to write it on which lends me to think it will work as is. i am sure somebody has done this. if not, can anyone speculate worst case scenario flashing without flashing stock moto x firmware?

You can use Eclipse. You have to use version 3.1.2. Flash it right over the Max's stock 4.4 system. I've tried it. It works perfect.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
Yup, the 2013 update looks to be the last:
> Motorola Droid X > Droid X General > 2013 Update System Version: 45.621.10.MB810.Verizon.en.US
Mind you, there are unoffical updates that will get you to Android 4.4.4 (if you like custom ROM's like CM):
> Motorola Droid X > Droid X General > What is the highest version of Android I can get on my Droid X?
Hope this helps.
