HELP!!!! not sure if soft bricked or hard bricked

My samsung galaxy s (sgh-t959v) is not powering on or going to recovery or download mode. i tried putting simply honey 5.1 on the phone. and this happened plz help!!!

Try to connect it via USB and see if
Odin recognizes it. It sometimes doesn't matter if download mode isn't literally displayed on screen, Odin would still be able to flash.
after connecting it, try to power it on and stay alert on what Odin displays.
Also make sure your battery is not completely depleted.

I've also read where others had a similar problem with it not powering on or anything. A few had success after leaving the battery out for ~24 hours (not sure it has to go that long, but why not?) and putting it back in. Then they were able to get it into download mode.
As Mikeflash said, some phones will be in an ODIN-recognizable mode even though the screen is totally black.

well as for me i tried that already also and nothing happened, i dont have money for a jig i've seen people do it with 3 100k resistors and tape but im not sure if thats safe or if it even works, tmobile said they would send me a replacement for it. but i dont want to wait that long and if they see that i tried to rom the phone then im sure i wont get it back.

Simply Honey isn't a ROM for this particular phone; which is why it's goofed. It probably loaded up the i9000 boot loaders.
Maybe give Raver's guide a shot?

the first option looks like a good but i dont get a sound when mine connects and the second option i dont think i know anyone with that type of solder or flux and what they know what they are doing. but thanks anyways

well its not actually rooted does that change anything?

If you'd like to send the device to me, I can perform the mod for $30 + shipping (usually $6 in USA) . Personally, I don't think its right to return a device that you've damaged. This is my main reason for creating UBM. It keeps me and others honest.

try using a jig, it works for me every time, i bought it off ebay for 2 bucks + free shipping and works great (hav used it about 20 times) good luck!

I was in the same situation and what i did is removed the battery for 2 minutes and reinserted it and inserted 301K ohm resistor jig to my phone and pressed vol down + Enter + Power on = Voila i was in downloading mode

I bought a jig it doesn't even work

infuse not booting

first of all I'm going to say I'm not all that new to this. and i have read through the forums and i don't see anyone with this exact problem (or even close)
My problems is getting into download mode.
I was using ZEUS' latest ROM and loving it but decided to reflash from stock because data wasn't working. pulled up Odin on my desktop *which was the first time i used it for anything but transferring files* got into download mode and was re-flashing with GTG's unbrick. it was on system.sysfs (i think?) and it stopped and replaced the yellow connected With a red box with FAIL. Thinking it was FUBAR i unplugged it and tried to boot up (still in download mode i used power- and power.) aaand nothing.
Now after 15 minutes of different Button combination, computers, and usb ports i don't know what to do.
When i plug the phone in and hold down vol+- and power and put in the battery i get nothing...
Am i SOL or can i get a Jig to fix it?
Also how do i make a jig?

Try leaving the power button out of your mix.
Remove battery
Hold down volume + and -
Insert battery
Insert USB

If nothing works, pm me and ill give you the information for 40 bucks you can save an infuse, even if you try turning it on, and you get absolutly nothing.

Its not me, lol. I can not do such a thing. Im just trying to help. The people who do this service is mobiletechvideos.com. They restored my broken infuse back to new (with a broken usb port, but was broken before) i could not save it from a brick. If he can not get it to boot, or connect to a computer or something, ill give him the info to send it to them and get it fixed. Its legit too, worked for me.

i just downloaded the "one click unbrick" by Adam Outler from here

and it says it needs download mode.. which i cant get to..... I know about JTAG and that is the only thing i have heard about so far that seems to be able to fix it.....
*Just read about Adam Outler's Unbrickable mod he made. I am so mad at myself right now. >.>

Here try to leave thye batter out overnight then try to get into download mode if not then let it die and plugit up to a charger then try to get into download mode

It could be saved
I met a highly similar situation before and I solve it as I was about to post a post for help.
I disconnected during the dl mode recovering the system and couldn't turn on.
Try:
Pull the battery out for a while.
Assure that your battery is charged and have more than 50% juice.
I tried all combination but it didn't help, after 2 hours it could return to dl mode again.
Hope this could help you.

Assuming the thread is back open (one month without activity is considered a dead thread on this forum right?) I have seen all the advice about the battery. well I had one of my dad's friends have a cracks at it. Here's the thing. It does not do ANYTHING! The screen doesn't turn on, charging indication on screen, when it's plugged into the computer (win7) it flashes up "Device recognized" then it's gone. The actual phone is completely gone. No movement you could say.. I don't have a jig to try but I think I might just try the jtag from somewhere earlier in this thread.

I used mobile tech videos and they were very fast. I had the phone back and working in less than a week!

In order to use Heimdall Adam Outlers One Click you need to setup the phone as download mode, but that's the problem, the phone won't even go to that mode. If you know how to do it without that mode, really will be appreciated

[Q] HELP!!!!! My Infuse is Jacked!!!!!

OK so i just came back from a deployment and heard there was an update to gingerbread software from the stock froyo. I read up a little on it and decided to give it a try. I do not do a lot of builds, custom roms, or things like that on my device, so my knowledge level isnt that great. I downloaded Kies Mini and was performing the upgrade and my computer just shut off in the middle of it. My phone is now jacked. All it will do when i turn it on is display a ton of dots. My phone looks like a christmas tree. I tried holding down the volume buttons and plugging it into the USB cord, and still nothing but dots. I tried the hard reset by holding the volume buttons, turning it off, and releasing the power button and still nothing. Is there anyway to fix this?? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Does the computer recognize the phone when you have it plugged in? If not, the simplest things to try are different USB ports, different cords or different computers.
Beyond that, it gets more complex. If the computer does recognize the phone, did you try this way - unplug the usb, turn off the phone, hold down the volume keys and plug the phone back in? If so and you still had the dots, it is possible you're still in download mode and can still try to finish the download.
Otherwise, you may have to go to GTG Unbrick, Heimdall or Odin.

Yes as long as your screen can display something, there's a chance to fix it.

OK, so now when i turn it on, the screen is just white. It is not pixelated anymore. Im not sure if my computer recognizes it or not. It does not show up on my computer anywhere but when i connect my phone to it with the usb cord my computer makes the sound like something was just connected. I opened Odin 3 v1.7 and in the ID:COM box it says 0:[COM15]. Now what do i do?? Thanks for the help. Sorry i am not android saavy!!!

Just follow the instructions to the letter on any custom rom you decide to try and you should be ok. And you can always find helpful folks here. Welcome back, thank you and have fun flashing - it gets addictive.

Yerp like stated follow the op of your ROMs choice...but use the methods I provided to get there and you will be fine....just pop a flare if you get into trouble....

Maybe Perm-Bricked?

Hey there, first post of the forum but long time follower. i was running paranoid android on my phone (new JB update with butter) and i got stuck when one day while using it, it fell into the notorious boot loop. it wouldnt enter download mode either so i ended up buying a jig that came in the mail today.....and now the phone will go into download mode for 3 seconds and loop over and over.....
please i really need this phone, if theres any way around it, it needs to be posted in this thread ASAP

If you pull out the battery and put it back did the phone automatically turn on by itself then keep rebooting?
Did you try 3 combo buttons to enter recovery vol up+dn and power then release power button but keep holding vol up+dn to enter recovery mod.
If the phone still keep bootlooping then it something wrong with Power button and may you need to replace that.

yup turns on by itself and reboots constantly. 3 combo for recovery dont work.

so its not bricked

doesn't sound bricked but it could be tricky to fix. first you have to isolate any hardware problem with the volume or power buttons. maybe pull it apart and clean it. if the usb port is intact it should be salvageable.
one question.... would you sell it? i can always use a backup.

Sounds like power button...but like.dani said...you are not yet in the clear :/
But here's what worked for others:
Rapidly pressing/mashing power button
Taken it apart and blowing the power button area with air compressor
Paying $30 and sending it into some company to fix it

We talked in PM but we have yet to get our meeting to fix it. I get the impression he's not in that big of a hurry...I don't know.
Maybe I'll just do a tutorial video to explain the steps...when I get some freetime.

Highly appreciate sir if we have video tutorial I owned 3 infuses (me wife and son) my son's phone has this problem i talk to technician and he told it was power button hardware need replacement so I send it to their shop via usps and waiting for shipment back.

Thank you, yeah everyone is fine. It could have been really bad. Almost a head on at 50mph. Some douche swerved into her lane and his mirror clipped her driver side window busting it out and breaking our mirror. Then when she pulled over, he just kept on going...
Pretty lame. But fortunately everyone is safe. She had 3 of our kids with her.

Alright well I don't know if this issue ever got resolved, we did speak but only once in PM but no follow up.
So I was going to make a video of the steps I took the first time I experienced this, where the install failed, phone would reboot back into recovering then the Android guy would fall over and it would reboot again back into recovery and repeating the process infinitely.
So the video I was gonna make explained some pretty indepth steps I took...and I have to admit I haven't wanted to make the vid because I didn't want to go thru the process again especially since I've been working on themes and wanted my phone up and running.
So. Here is something for you to try if you ever run into this problem
( I just had it happen again, and discovered this right before setting up the camera to do the before avoided video, lol )
Anyway it worked for me.
When it starts to recovery bootloop, 3 finger hold (power, vol up, vol down) keep holding while Samsung appears.
Continue to hold, Samsung will disappear, then when it reappears a second time release the buttons and you should enter recovery without a bootloop.
Then flash a different rom than the one that obviously gave you a bad flash.

That's a solution for a soft brick, not a hard brick.There's a reason why it's called hard brick dude, you can't recover from it unless you're tony stark and are able to patch the blown e-fuses

Hey alldoom65, maybe change the title to indicate that this post is an alternate way out of a softbrick, when rsd does not see the phone, and you do not have the scripts. Not a hardbrick fix. you can edit the title in the go advanced button in the edit screen, I think.

So my A2 seems really dead for some reason. I had system 1 in BMM as Stock ICS rooted. System 2 blank and 3 PAC milestone RC1. Flashed a 4.3 font on system 1 accidentally and lost BMM. Had a day to get to a computer and try the windows.batch cuz not enough time for FXZ. No avail. Rebooted a couple times and now its a blank. Won't get into fast boot barely unless I have it plugged in while volume up n down while stuck on M. Plugged into PC I get the white led. But wall AC only brings me to M. Not battery charging. I don't get it. It can't be bricked. Can battery be done for? Wtf happened? I'm currently trying to get a Motorola branded USB wall AC charger to see if I can get it to at least charge to 5% and give the windows.batch a go again...

Yup has happened to me before(I think).It's a soft brick.Get more juice in your battery and then fxz back or use the windows patch.You should be just fine..

That's happened to me too. Had to use the macguyver battery charge method to get it back going again.

LIKE A BOSS! It's up and running! Thanks for the info dude...I did sum crazy surgery and took a huge gamble doing this but it worked like a lucky charm! AWESOME! Letting it charge cuz after the FXZ It's at 0%! Crazy! Letting it get to 100 before I even try rooting it. So glad I got my laptop back today too!!!

This is what the cord looked like after cutting and seperating/taping. I'm keeping this thing just in case I ever need it again! lol!
