When I go to set up the Game keyboard app, I check game keyboard box on step 1, when i go to step 2: input method, the only options I get is Android keyboard and Swype there is NO option to choose Game keyboard, so step 3 does not bring up to onscreen buttons. I've done many searches and nothing even close to addressing this issue comes up. What the hell... Thanks
Have you tried scrolling to see it?

It's not working for me too. All other games are ok. I already tried with a configuration file from another thread and the results are the same.

Make sure the keyboard is not installed on your SD card. It must be installed on your phone memory.

I've got it installed on my memory card yet it still works. Saying that, I do have to do step 1 all the time. I'll try it on phone memory for a while, see if that helps. It's not as if it's a huge hog or anything.

It's only going to be an Xperia play exclusive for the launch. It will be opened up to other devices, down the road.
It's already in the store for Xperia Play: http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/16/minecraft-pocket-edition-hits-android-market-only-xperia-play-u/
I wonder if someone could try to port it to the TF. We have keyboard, and we have touchpad. And we also could have USB mouse. Doubt it will be possible without access to the source, but anyway...
We can always just wait for Mojang to release it for the tablets, ofc.

I was able to "enter" one of the menu options by accident, but don't remember what I clicked. It was in the bottom left side and I think I clicked on combination of buttons like alt- shift- something. I believe the keycode that needs to be pressed is 23 or 109
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/wp/2011/02/13/xperia-play-game-keys/
and pc keycodes
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa243025(v=vs.60).aspx
Has anyone grabbed the apk and tried it on a TF, just to see if it works?
I cant find that key
Ok it was 23 KEYCODE_DPAD_CENTER
I didn't find the right combination to enter it from keyboard, but it can be sent using adb tool.
tada.
short guide:
1. install android SDK
2. connect via usb
3. adb shell input keyevent 23 in windows/unix console
It works pretty good, but most keys are missing.

Cool. I was looking for that. Thnx. I'll write if I am successful with this.
It doesn't need to be ported actually. It's java (cross-platform,cross-architecture) but screen size needs to be patched.(hopefully it's not hardcoded everywhere to only run in one resolution) I looked into decompiled code and saw couple of functions that return screen size, but haven't found where they are called from yet.

This works partially. I got it working using the sixaxis controller. I can jump, place blocks and all that fun stuff, except I can't really turn..
This is because of how the "Sixaxis Controller" app emulates the analog sticks.
I also tried hooking up the controller with a usb-cable, but that didn't work ant better.
Hey, at least i can explore forward
Edit 1: Oh btw just to be clear, i used the Demo-version. (guess thats ok?)
Edit 2: You can turn by using the touchpad

Yea, Experia Play has a touchpad on it.
Btw, having mouselook on TF would be great, from touchpad (dock) or sixaxis thumbstick =) Then it would be even possible to play FPS games via Splashtop remote!

That method doesn't work at all. :/ Removing kecode line makes button nonfunctional, editing it executes old code as if it wasn't changed at all. Maybe it's because of prime. I'll try this on pure rooted firmware.
OnLive is on the Android Market!
AND IT SUPPORTS XPERIA PLAY CONTROLS!
I WILL NO LONGER DEVELOP FOR THE APP
...
But it does not support Xperia Play game pad. So until support is added I've made an app...
OnLive Helper
LATEST
Added option to toggle between between an alternate profile.
Added option to donate and remove ads.
Added alternate key functionality.
Link:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hatcyl.android.OnLiveHelper
Price:
Free with ads in the configuration menu.
Description:
This app will technically work with any phone! Visit the official thread to discuss!
This application will enable Xperia Play users to use the game pad to play games using the OnLive Service.
Currently only "LEGO Batman" and "Dirt 3" are included.
You can create your own custom profiles or use community created ones. Please visit the official thread on XDA for more information.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382899
Usage:
1. No Root Is Required.
2. To enable this app, you must change the Input Method Service to "OnLive Helper"
3. You can have the input method screen automatically come up when you open or close your keyboard by checking "Auto Prompt" in the options.
Custom Mode
You can now create custom profiles.
All phones should be supported (not just Xperia Play)
You create them by using Android KeyCodes: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html
To create a custom profile:
1. Create a txt file, name it anything (it does NOT need the .txt extension).
2. In line 1 type the keycodes you want to press.
3. In line 2 type the keycodes you want it to do. If you map a key to -1 then it will go to the third line to translate key presses until you release it. If you map a key to -2 then it will go to the fourth line to translate until you push it again.
4. In line 3 type alternate key codes.
5. In line 4 type the key codes that the app will toggle to.
5. Save that file to /sdcard/Android/data/com.hatcyl.android.OnLiveHelper/files
6. That "profile" will now appear in the settings.
Notes:
I've attached a sample file (Lego Batman) and a "Template" file for the noobs.
If you create a profile, share it here!
Some buttons like ESCAPE, MOUSE BUTTONS, etc. are not supported. They were not added into Android until a later version. I will see if there is anything we can do (at least for root users) if anyone knows please share!
Coming Later Maybe, No Promises
Mouse Support + More Keys Support (Maybe just for ROOT users)
Maybe a way to emulate the OnLive Controller instead of keyboard.
Support for touch pads.
An option for multiple profiles in one (i.e. press a button to change button mapping quickly) - DONE
An option for an "Alt" key, so if you press two buttons at once it does something else. - DONE
Something about international keyboards, if I can figure out what ps3taker is talking about.
A way to create custom profiles from within the app.
Some kind of In App purchase for some reason. - DONE
Waw this looks promising, I will try this in a few minutes!
One suggestion I have is could you make a list of all the xperia plays buttons and let users assign any keyboard button to that xperia button.
For example on the list of keys would be the X button, I then click on the xbutton and get a whole list of keyboard keys to choose from which I can assign to the X button.
I know thats a bit of a confusing explanation but I think you know what I mean.
EDIT: Your app works great, I dont know why something like this hasn't been made before. an app like this could also be used to make the xperia play work with flash games too.
Heck yes! This will do until it's official. Analog sticks would be amazing, but I noticed that your program syncs the buttons to keyboard strokes, like wsad on the dpad, nice idea!

I think custom mode should be top priority because then users can play any games without having to wait for you to add profiles, Also another good idea could be for users to make thier own custom profiles, but this app is still in its early stages so maybe im thinking too far ahead haha.

Don't know if will help but someone tried making an app that used the touch pads as trackball to control a mouse on internet browser its on a page in here somewhere. I also tried another game without touch pad support on onlive and the mouse was emulated on the touch screen. or paul that made mupen64 plus has touch pad control values and codes on his site and recons they can be added to most emus why not this, i understand they would only work as digital button presses as you are only mapping to the keyboard but would free up extra buttons for others. Hope this helps.
Sent from my R800TED bad boy using XDA App
I dont think you can use the touch pads with this method, maybe with some sort of complex root app you could but this is essentially a virtual keyboard so I think getting mouse support is not possible.

i know it would not be analogue but he could use the touch pads as the d pad just like the sixaxis app uses sticks and sonys ps ports app type 4 setting to map the d-pad on a keyboard, then the other buttons would be free for others. Also why would you need root apps like mupen64plus use the touchpads it is not a virtual keyboard he is mapping to its a hardware keyboard if you notice square and trangle are really say x and y on a qwerty keyboard hes just changing them to say a and b. so why could he not fool the touchpad into thinking it was a trackball or mouse. I maybe wrong but was an idea.
hi everyone, I have a motorola milestone & a xoom, I just downloaded & installed GTA III on my xoom, is there any app for the milestone, to work as game pad for xoom? (with wireless or bluetooth)
Try blueputdroid in the market. It works as a keyboard/touchpad, and it can be used as a Bluetooth game pad as well I believe.
Have a look at DroidMote as well. Works for me on other games, haven't tried on GTA tho.

in the zip file when you download there are 3 files, one is readme file which tell you how to copy the other 2files
(here's the fille attached if you don't already have it)
put droidmote.kcm in /system/usr/keychars - If you have not already copied earlier.
put droidmote.kl in /system/usr/keylayout - for mapping the new game configuration.
for me after copying I thought it's not working but after few time force closing the app & reopening it, it worked. sometime also for the first time that I press the gamepad buttons it activates with a 2sec delay.
but other than that, I love it, it works perfect

Thanks. That was sort of a dumb question being that I didn't even download the file. I should have known there would be a readme in there.
The app is cool but it needs UI enhancements and the ability to move buttons around the screen. I wouldn't mind the exact layout as the in game controls on my phone.
I will try this tonight and see how it goes. Does this fix the inverted look?

Been using SwiftKey for months now and I've very pleased of it, the best feature is that you can enlarge the keys, the default keyboard on Tipo is meant for children, tho that's understandable given the screen size.

Ok so how do I install it? Are there any step by step instructions?
They say, Back up the original.install in recovery mode. Thats it.
I back up the original Xperia Keyboard through Titanium Backup. Is that enough?
I installed the cwm but even after following the instructions ... cannot go to any recovery mode.
And what is in the recovery mode? You see the CWM app working around? and I have to go into the unzipped keyboard folder?
