[Q] my non-modded sensation died?? - HTC Sensation

I haven't done anything to the sensation like I have to my other phones. I have had a couple HD2's and did everything I could to those with very minimal problems, and now my Sensation that I have had for about 6 months decided to just die. I never S-off'd it even though I thought about it a lot, and I never tried to put a new ROM on it. I can't get it to turn on and I don't see a reset pinhole button under the battery cover. I wish I had let go of the stock ROM now. Is there a way I can reverse this?
problem solved..lol..the USB cable that I always charged it with apparently doesn't work anymore. I swapped cables and it works fine. Glad it was simple!

Faulty battery?

hmm..update..
I took the battery cover off and cleaned the little connections (not sure if that even did anything). After this I plugged it into the wall and after about 30 seconds the orange charge light started blinking slowly. I just woke up about 2 hours ago and the phone was plugged in all night I believe, unless somehow the usb charger cable wasn't plugged in all the way and it died overnight (battery was low last night)

Must be something wrong with your battery

so now instead of charging it just blinks orange sometimes and I've had it plugged in for an hour. The battery has been fine until now if it is a faulty battery. It will last nearly all day and not even be down to half. I don't leave the data wifi and GPS on, I only turn them on when I need them, so the battery lasts a long time. Basically why I said this is I easy on the battery, and I don't overload it and pull too much from it.

i dont believe ur battery is faulty....its ur charger.
For battery to run(to be charged)it needs 3.3 to 3.6 volts to even start charging,ur battery is to low with volts and charger cant charge.
There are many solutions for this, some are good and some are crazy but both will do the trick.
1.find another battery to turn ur device, tick in settings fast boot, put ur battery in and connect to charger, wait a little bit and it will charge.
2.This one is crazy....find a charger for a car battery, put in on 6 volts, the red one is + and the blue or black is -,look on the battery of ur device where is + and -,connect it shortly, about 5 sec,put the battery back in ur device and it will charge.
3.Buy another charger that has 550 to 700 mah,it will charge.
4.Sorry for my bad english

thanks for the reply, but I have already explored the faulty charger possibility. I've tried using the computer usb port to charge it too to no avail. It blinks the same way whether I'm charging it via computer usb or wall usb charger. Thanks for offering the help though!

I must commend you sir for making me think it was a charging problem again so I would look back into it. I swapped out the usb cable that I was using and it started charging. When I had originally checked to see if it would charge on the computer instead of the charger I used the same USB cable to charge it..I just plugged it in with a different cable and it works fine now! so thanks bro! It seems 90% of the time it's something simple.

Glad it works.

Just so you know, charging via PC USB tends to be slowly due to a lower available current.

Now it's working you should root s off and enjoy the custom roms available here At xda. Do you know most.custom roms are MORE stable than stock? I found this out. When I was stock I would
Get many reboots ! Drove me crazy. On.custom roms I've NEVER got a reboot! They are smooth fast and really nice! In fact I'm running Android 4.0.3 and sense 4 now. Really great Rom! It truly frees you to be rooted. You.can truly make your device your own with new roms, kernels, radios, and of course MODS! It has opened a whole new world for me! You you want a truly customizable experience you Must root! I don't regret rooting for a second!! So many wonderful options thanks to the wonderful developers here! Battery drain while charging

I'm currently running Sean's latest leak/update and have noticed significant battery drain despite being plugged into the charger. I never really paid enough attention while on gb roms, so I'm not sure if this is an ics thing or not. My buddy at work has had similar issues and is completely bone stock, so I'm thinking it's just a skyrocket issue.
Anybody else notice this? It happens no matter what I'm doing on the phone and is obviously more noticeable when playing games. It seems to me that the charger should at least compensate for the usage!
It had me so baffled, I've re-flashed multiple times now with the same results.

Yeah... it's 5v/1a. Same with my buddy. I thought that might be the problem, and I had switched it with an old one, but don't think so. I've used the powerskin in the past, and it's also 5v/1a... still drains with it.
I'm totally puzzled! I've changed chargers, gone with/without the powerskin, re-flashed roms, calibrated the battery and who knows what else. Only thing I hadn't done was replace the battery, but now that my buddy is having issues on stock, I don't know if that's the problem or not....

Its probably the battery while charging check if in about phone it says its conncted to ac.
Also are you rooted?
Could also be the cable. I have had the exact issue, replaced the cable and now its fine. Its funny cause the galaxy s2 is far more picky when it comes to chargers/cables. For instance. I can plug it in and the phone won't do a think, yet when I plug it in the skyrocket it will accept the connection.

I'm thinking it's the battery... it shows it's charging. I've tried spare chargers and cable combos with the same outcome. It's just odd that my friend's is doing the same thing!

I've tried diff cable/charger combos... no luck. I had cable issues with my epic (sprint) and knew Samsung had issues with them in the past, so that was one of the first things that came to mind... no dice though!

Test your receptacle with a digital multi meter . The stock charger works great. Enough so
That i spliced 3 high quality usb cable and have over a ten foot cable which charges just fine.
So its possible. U have a bad charger. Crap cables. Or overdrawn circuit whith your receptacles. No enough to trip but enough your charger cant pull 1 amp

I did a 1.5 hour Skype video while on charge and my battery never charged it held at the same percentage. Anything else I do charging outweighs my use. Gotta be the charger or the phone itself. Even if you have no battery in it should still boot off the charger and run correct?

Use any type of root explorer, while charging got to sys/class/power supply/battery
and open batt_current_xxx or something like this, I'll check it later if you get into troubles, breaking my head now with tasker at the moment. It should show a value around 8500, at least that's what it shows for me.
I'm having the same issue on Sean's latest update, my battery current adc file says 2934... I posted this in the sky ics thread
"I've been having some battery issues since coming to this ROM on update six. I'm on nine now and all is well, battery life included once I get it charged up. I'm using OEM Samsung everything, charging block, two different cables, my original battery and a 2100Mah extended for the Gnex. All Samsung, no change between them. This thing just REFUSES to charge if I'm using it while plugged in, and if I leave it alone and let it charge, it takes absolutely forever to charge either battery. The skyrocket battery won't gain one percent charge if I'm using it while plugged in, and the Gnex battery actually discharges slowly! Any ideas? I bought this phone from a member on here and it came with superlite 5 and I don't recall it having this problem."
If the file reading is that low there must be an issue with the amp, if you tried a different charger and cables and it happened since changing roms I'd say its a pure software issue. Maybe you should try flashing a different kernel before trying to change your rom, the problem may be laying there.
I had the same issue but mine was related to the usb cable. With a new micro usb cable my phone charges without issue.

[Q] What about this solar charger?

It claims it's 4000mAh, what are the chances that it really is?

well, it all depends on what your after. are you looking to charge your phone by using this thing in the sun? in which case forget it. while the capacity is there, the PV panel that is on there wont charge the battery it's attached to for about 4 days in bright sunshine, it's simply not big enough.
if you're looking for just a portable battery to plug your phone into, then ok, it should do something like 3 full charges of an empty phone battery, before you have to plug it into usb to charge it up again
if you're looking to charge your phone only by using the sun (like going camping or something) have a look at this instead
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5W-1A-5V-...neChargers&hash=item4ab9d45d50#ht_5401wt_1163
i have 2 of these and they are great, you get about 1200 mA @ 5VDC in bright sun and it chages almost as fast as plugin charger.
hope this helps

I got a Primo portabable charger....it can charge the phone up from almost flat to full charge in 1.5hrs....which is the same as a wall output...and it can charge the DHD up to almost 7x before I need to recharge the charger.
is there a link for that primo battery?
nice idea
i will try it

Got a similar pack as relation gift. It is stated to be fully recharged on sunlight in 6-hours with full (summer) sunlight. In reality, it will probably be closer to 2 days to get a proper refill. Anyway, with some 3000-4000maH on board is is a nice emergency battery solution to have in your bag. Mine can be charged by normal electricity as well.

[Q] Is my HTC Sensation XE bricked?

Hi everyone,
I dont know what happened with my HTC, when I woke up this morning, the phone wont turn on at all. Even if I connect it to charger, the notification light doesnt on. I tried remove the battery and reboot, but nothing works.
My phone was rooted, S-OFFed and running [ROM]Viper 1.3.5 and still working last night, I didnt do anything to it (at least when I was sleeping).
Could anyone tell me what happened to it and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance
How long was it on the charger?
Sent from my Og Evo 4G
I put it on charger for about 30min, the light doens even go on, like, no charging at all. The phone still wont turn on
Could be the battery. I have had this very same thing happen to me with a new battery. No charging light at all, no sign of life what so ever! As soon as I poped in a new different battery, my phone sprang to life once more. It was very strange because the battery I was using had charge left last I checked and it was on the charger. When I checked the phone it had no life at all. No charging light either. If I we're you, I'd try a new fully charged battery, to see if that will solve your issue. Don't mess with the device before you try the new battery. My issue was the same as yours and a new fully charged battery solved my problem. Hopefully that's all it will take to also solve yours. It certainly can't hurt to try! It worked for me. If the new battery does not solve the issue then you have a different problem all together. But do give it a try and see what happens. Best of luck.

Hi there, you can order a good extended battery like Anker for under 20 bucks. I really hope the battery does the trick. When this happened to me, it was so strange because I was using a NEW
Battery and it had around 60% charge when I plugged it into my charger . Then when I went to check the phone after changing for about a hour it was black. I took it off charger and it had no life at all. I thought maybe the charger didn't connect properly so I plugged it back in, then I noticed I didn't have any charger light like I usually have. Phone was completely dead and it would not charge. Strange. I had another fully charged new battery I kept as a spare, when I put that battery in, the phone came back to life and the charging light worked again! I have not had ANY problems since. It's been about 5 months since that happened to me. I never used that battery again. I just threw it away. It must have been something with the battery. It would not even charge! No lights or anything! I'm really hoping this is your problem also because it's easily fixed. Please keep us updated and let us know if new fully charged battery solves your issue too. It sounds exactly like what happened to me, so I'm hopeful you can solve this with another battery. I wish you the best! Good luck!

You need to calibrate the battery...
Follow this, charge the phone till u r sure its fully charged(not what the battery shows), reboot to recovery, wipe battery stats...
After the restart, keep the phone on charging for half an hour to 45 min.
Hopefully this should help unless the battery itself has gone faulty.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710 using xda premium
'Calibrating the battery' is not actually a real thing.
It's a myth that has been thoroughly debunked. The battery stats only show what has used the battery, not how much of it should be left.
And nothing relating to battery stats would explain why the battery level is decreasing while it's plugged in. However 2 things will explain that.
1) You are using a charger that's less than 1 amp. The stock charger than came with the phone and most any other smartphone charger is a 1 Amp unit. If you are using a generic charger it might not have the power needed to charge the phone while you're using it. Same with charing via a USB connection on a computer. Or, you do have a stock 1 amp charger and it's just gone bad. Test this by trying another charger. However if the phone loses battery while plulgged in and not being used, then the charger probably isn't the problem.
2) Your battery is on it's last legs and needs to be replaced. They don't last forever. After a year, maybe two, they start to lose their ability to take and hold a charge. This is the more likely problem. The sollution is to just get a new battery. New stock batteries cost about $10 on Amazon. New Anker larger capacity battery will last longer and only cost about $18.

Battery level falling even while charging

Hi guys,
In my phone my battery level keeps falling even when it I plugged to the charger...it goes up to a certain percentage and then starts falling off the cliff while still on charger...attaching a picture of the charge cycle...
I am on Albino JB 4.2.2 build 13th April. Have already tried three different batteries but same result...switched ROM and still the same...greenified most apps such as FB and maps...Even tried different chargers !!! This is really harassing me... Can someone guide me pls what to do next ???

Until that point it seems to be charging just fine. Will it charge the battery fully when the phone is off? Try completely discharging your battery then fully charging it while keeping your phone off.

Hi guys.
The problem continues !!!
Below are the things i have tried...
1.) Charging with original wall charger during phone on...Battery still declining during charging
2.) Completely wiped my phone and did not put any app still the same result
3.) Got a new Anker battery and still the same result (this is my fourth battery !!!)
4.) Tried different chargers and still the same result
5.) Switched off the phone and charged overnight and it took approx 8 Hrs to charge full but then the battery depleted quite quickly !!!
There is something wrong with the battery indicator it seems...Once the battery hits 0% while charging it rockets backs to 100% and then again starts to deplete.
Any more suggestions anyone ???
Maybe the charging electronic is just broken, if there is you have really tested new charger and new battery. Maybe controll your batterypins, maybe those are somehow broken (especially ground pin?)
