[Q] ICS AOSP rom for skyrocket - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Are there any pure AOSP roms for the skyrocket?? I know there are AOKP and CM9 but I want AOSP.
And how would I go about building AOSP for skyrocket from source?

Cm9 is pretty damn close if not identical to AOSP. That's built off of reference builds for our device. If that is just simply unnaceptable, I invite you to visit this thread ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969266

i727 ICS source now available

After lurking on Samsung open source for some odd weeks it looks as if the ICS source is available for the at&t galaxy s2 skyrocket.
go here and look for SGH-I727_NA_IC_Opensource.zip. As that is the source.
Bingo, ICS Platform and Kernel source.
We can finally get a tweaked out/more stable build :good:

touchwiz or aosp roms will benefit from this. This is the floodgates to lots of **** coming now. Most importantly though, I would expect us to go RC on CM9 very soon now.
Clarification
Well, reading the posts it seems there is general lack of understanding of the Android Kernel source tree. First of all if you look at all the Celox source tree released by Samsung (Kernel) there are all based of AOSP 3.0.8. This is little bit too late . Samsung already had the Celox sources released with SHV-E110S and T-989 last month. All the proper drivers for the SGH-I727 bit are already there in that kernel source.
I doubt, I will find any difference if at all there is any in this new source. (BTW, if people who have not developed kernels Sammy sources that they release are as ****ty as it gets, they NEVER release the manufacturing source, tell me I had to fix a crap load of stuff).
As far as Cymbaline, the source is now so far merged with upstream kernel sources (which is what one does, anyways) that it would be pointless for me to even consider starting with these source. And all those useless govs, bln, oc/uc tweaks are already there in my source tree ..And anyone who is making to attempt those will need to do it exactly the same places ....
Um review the code like asap because the brickbug could be in it

On official I doubt its got that bug its likely that if its not an issue in ics official rom then its not an issue in ics based recoveries built using official source as they use the same kernel just saying

Where in he heck is the official aokp rom????

I cannot find it anywhere and yes I did search. A lot! All I found was jelly bean builds. I want the stable ics build. Links please. Thanks

There is no "official aokp" for our phone, but the t989 is officially supported by white hawk. The hardware is almost identical so R4IN has been porting it.
Search with Google and use xda plus keywords, it'll save u time bro.
Also if u want ICS based aokp the two ROMs u can choose from are "AOKP flashback" by team PTSD, or chimera 2.2C

More powerful and super fast and smoother than ics, it is the best AOKP jellybean, but since its unstable you may experience hard reboots and bugs.

What, in your opinion, is the best AOSP/AOKP ROM for the Verizon Galaxy SIII that is based on the latest SOURE CODE (4.2.1)?

you wont find one. AOSP and VZW software are independent of each other.
do some research for yourself. visit the original development section for AOSP options, and developement for TWouchwiz options.
check out Jellybeans, its got AOPS theming with TW functionality.

The AOSP developers are no longer developing 4.1.1 based ROMs they are making ROMs based on the 4.2.1 source code. If you want AOSP ROMs go to the original android development section. If you want ROMs based on the official ota then go to the android development section. Just so you know AOSP ROMs are never based on official ota updates but on source codes released prior to any ota by any carrier which is why they are the first to develop the latest version of Android. I can't give an opinion on the AOSP ROMs as they are all in beta and will have problems. In the meantime check out the ROMs in the android development section while the AOSP developers work out the kinks to their ROMs.

This is true. I'm looking for AOSP or AOKP based on the 4.2.1 source code. Not a fan at all of TW... I like having that Vanilla Android feel.

If you like that vanilla feel then why are you asking for AOSP ROMs? With the exception of the Pure Google ROM, AOSP ROMs are not vanilla looking.

Rbarnett, I know what you mean by vanilla. I tried all the asop roms and I gotta say I liked liquid smooth the best. Rc9, built on 4.1 and still available, has a lot of nice features that the newer and less developed beta3 (4.2) does not. All the 4.2 ROMs have busted Bluetooth right now but besides for that they seem to run pretty good. If you don't mind some minor bugs, they are all pretty good to play around with.

Basically a ROM that looks as if Nova launcher or Apex launcher is running... but has samsungs touchwiz removed. Also all the menus are basic ICS and not touchwiz menus. I'm glad you get what I'm saying.
I'll check out Liquid smooth RC9 then since I need working Bluetooth.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Aokp.stock features.
I prefer CM, I really don't need much more features then it provides.
Using Slim Bean by fusionjack for i9100 right now and loving it
I prefer CyanogenMod Roms because they are more functional
I prefer Aokp - it's better for tablets.
A comparison can be found here:

I prefer CM. Enough features and easy to use
CM too for me
I'd also prefer CM over AOKP.

This is pretty close to a "best ROM' thread. I left it open for a while, but it doesn't seem to be generating much useful discussion and is getting full of 1 word posts. So sorry, but thread closed.
