Is there any work or possibility that someone or a team can make a 3.0 kernel? I don't understand what is in the process of this.

Are you meaning a Honeycomb kernel? That's a tablet OS and wouldn't be very useful on the Infuse. I have HC on my HTC Flyer, and it's fine there (though everyone on that tablet would prefer ICS), but I can't imagine many would be interested in this here.

3.0 kernel as in the new ics kernel, not our patched 2.6 kernel.

Honeycomb = 3.0
ICS = 4.0
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
3.0.somethingorother is the linux kernel version for aosp ics. 2.6.whatever was the linux kernel for samsung gingerbread.
im not sure the kernel version is dependant on the android version number but the boot.img or the initramfs needs to be setup to boot certain roms. so op please clarify what you are talking about with "3.0" because that's the android version for honeycomb which is for tablets but it's also the linux kernel used in aosp ics which is android version 4.0.
Thanks Dani, I stand corrected I guess, and the OP is asking if anyone is going to compile a kernel with a version number specific to ICS. There's no need really as I see it, since the kernel that Entropy and all are building on is doing the job just fine.

this is definitely not what I was expecting lol, can't believe all these people are able to live with the instability of ICS at it's current state! Maybe I just have hi standards lol. Pretty cool how it is all over the place with which ICS rom people are using! I love our Dev community!

EaglesBlood latest with Faux's kernel. Can't let go of it till the issues are resolved with ICS.

I want to flash the new T989 stock ROM that just dropped. I can't find the 4.0.3 kernel, or can I use the 4.0.4 kernel.
yes... I did try search and reading. 4.0.3 Kernel, 4.0.3 STOCK kernel. Ect. Even http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383464
you mean this kernel?

I meant the compiled 4.0.3 kernel for the skyrocket. Apologies I left out key information there with that one. Awful lot of ICS stuff and modded ROMs to sift through.
This is the best you'll get until someone compiles and modifies the t989 source.

Unfortunately modded, but alas I think you're right. I don't have a spare phone to flash 'n rip it out anymore. TY
I dug around trying to find it, but with the flood of ICS kernels was really looking bleak.
Just got and rooted my tf. Just wanted to see which ROM is the best and most stable. Any recommendation?

For stability the modified stock roms are the best IMO (e.g Revolver, Revolution) but lack the features of AOSP roms like (CM9, Gummy or Frozn). As for JB roms they arn't what i would call stable (but useable) but they are very smooth and fast.

Any rom can be overclocked, the Kernel is what manages the overlocking. For Revoultion you want one of these:
Rayman33s Asus kernel : http://goo.im/devs/rayman33/downloads/Transformer/Harmony-Kernel/Harmony-ASUS.zip
or
Guevor's Asus kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1122982&d=1339437783
Remember with overclocking you will loose some battery life... personally i prefer not to overclock... again its personal preferences...

Wipe /cache and /dalvik then flash kernel. I wipe those two again afterwards but you don't really have to.
I have installed CarbonRom 1.1. I notice that my kernal is a UCLB3. Is that the ideal one for the 4.2.2? Not much of a techie but do like to tinker. Thanks.
All the ICS and JB kernels are based on UCLB3. Use the one recommended by the ROM Dev.

Any dev's feel like making a new ICS or even 4.1.2 or something with the new aries patches, linaro tool chain, etc for us that really need GPS and like the new ROM's and features but can't ever stay back for long. I've been in the middle of nowhere and had to flash a ICS just to get a GPS lock. lol. Rather not do that everytime I need GPS.
Seconded, i really wish for an updated AOKP ICS with aries built using linaro toolchain. Right now I'm stuck using FBis' AOKP milestone 6-5. I tried all ICS roms here but couldn't find any better (that offers a plethora of customizations and tweakings) and more stable than AOKP.

Sadly, last time I checked the AOKP ICS repos were still borked :/. Unless we can get a good build tree it'll be hard to push updates for the ICS version of AOKP.
Plus isn't it Aries that breaks GPS, not JB? An Aries ICS ROM would still have broken GPS if I'm not mistaken.

True, I didn't think of it that way. lol.
I don't expect the GPS to ever work on the Galaxy S 4G.
I picked up a Galaxy S Vibrant, due to is being similar to the GS4G yet having "official" CyanogenMod support.
Well, even with "official" builds of CyanogenMod or AOKP, the GPS still doesn't work on the Vibrant. Any time the device enters deep sleep, the GPS crashes. You basically have to reboot any time you want to use something that needs GPS.
And while I haven't experienced it, others have said that sometimes when you use the GPS, it hangs and eat up all the battery (just like Aries kernel on the GS4G).
Samsung abandoned these devices (and their customers) at Android 2, I don't know if the GPS issues will ever get fixed.

Yes although Aries itself brings a lot of improvements. You can even do bluetooth tethering and USB tethering works too .
In the end it's a matter of what features you use. The stability is there for mostly everything though.
I heard there was a Linaro CM9 ROM somewhere in the Nexus S section or something. Maybe that can be ported?

I did port one, please search more carefully n u can c it, but it was almost nothing different w/o a linaro kernel along w it.

It would be really sweet if someone could do cm7 with aries instead of the herring version we already have. Cm7 herring is pretty damn good and has gps etc working. Would it be possible?
