Yeah!!! A couple of the roms are in the downloads but they all show up when the sd card that I had in the phone while I was downloading them in the es file folder.why when I put a new sd card in my phone there not in the es file folder?

I can't believe you aren't trolling.
Anyway, get the first SD Card (which you downloaded ROMs on) in, connect the phone to PC in disk drive mode, copy the ROMs onto PC.
Then get the other SD Card in, connect phone to PC in disk drive mode & transfer the ROMs to the SD Card.
I would if I had a pc.

Put the SD with the ROMs in.
Use ES File Explorer to copy to root of the device (One ROM at a time if it's Sense ROMs because they're huge).
Put in the new SD Card & use ES File Explorer to copy it from root to new SD Card.
Repeat for all the other ROMs.
Same thing can be done with Terminal Emulator if you prefer using commands rather than a file explorer.

OK, I am going from an 8gb sd card to a 16gb, but before I do I need to know if it will break root or if I just need to make the new one a goldcard as well or what in general. I searched for switching sd cards in the forum but it didn't give results so I'm asking here.

the ONLY reason a goldcard is needed is for downgrading firmware. ROOT is WITHIN the OS and has NOTHING to do with the SDCard. you can freely swap sdcards at will

If you change your SD card nothing will happen except that you will loose your apps and photos in there. Root access has nothing to do with your SD card. Make a copy of the files and folders you want to preserve in your pc and then copy then back in your new SD card....

Ok, so a follow-up to that, and this may be a noob question but... Is there anything on the SD card that I have to have? I usually move ROM backups off the card to a computer, but lots if apps seem to make a folder in my SD card. As a rule, am I better off keeping apps in the phone memory if available? My SD cd card seems to be full of cr*p that i don't think I need but am afraid to delete.

Nahh dont copy anything...just the backup and the titanium backup folder...that will do. With those folders you can restore all your missing apps with data...and have a backup of your rom just in case!! Is good to tidy up from time to time!

Thank you all. I moved all of my apps back to the phone. I had already culled many that I didn't use when I rooted and flashed a ROM last week. I made new backups and pulled them off the sd card for safe keeping and then erased the SD card. I put music and ringtones back and now I have lots of space and everything still works. Guess all of those other files were just clutter. Thanks again.

I rarely have problems with apps on the SD. Maybe one or two out of 100.
I am running Stock TMOUS Stock Rom and like 2 days ago. My 16GB microSD Card randomly from working to "Blank SD Card' and when I try to format it on the phone, it says 'External Media in Unknown State' when I connect it to my card readers, and into the computer, it doesn't even find it inserted but the card readers work with other Micro SD cards. Can someone help me? Other microSD cards work in my phone, but not my usual 16GB one...help?

It wont work on the sensation but it worked for me on an old phone about 5 years old minimum. Its worked for my friends as well..... otherwise if you couldn't do it this way or via computer then it wont be able to format, must be something else wrong with it, a good excuse to order a larger one as I see it

No, you can just use an old phone that can handle a microsd and it can do it for you. My friend did it through his five year old phone.

connect your phone to computer, Toggle USB mode in 4EXT Recovery, and your phone will act as a microSD card reader. You can do anything you want from there. =)

If the card cannot be mounted, both of these won't work.
Your best bet is to use a card reader & try different methods of connecting.
First put the SD Card in & then connect card reader, first connect card reader then put SD Card in, etc.
Usually, even a corrupted SD Card shows up on a PC.
If it does, use the format option. If "Windows was unable to format the drive", then go to Disk Management & format it from there.
If the PC is unable to detect it, then it's some kind of hardware fault & to the best of my knowledge, nothing will be able to fix that. All you can do is try wiping the contacts if they are dirty, but I doubt that would cause such a problem.
it will still work even if SD card cannot be mount.
Juopunutbear's S-OFF method sort of corrupted my SD card and i used Toggle USB mode method to format my SD card

A corrupted SD Card can still be mounted.
If the SD Card cannot be mounted in recovery, there is no question of trying to Toggle USB Storage or formatting it.
His case seems different.
wow i recover my files
hi guys, i had same problem, but then i set this sandisk ultra to my nokia xpress music and there was everything,,, my arc s cant open it anymore but nokia opens... try to reset your sd s to others phone...
I use 4EXT for my loader. If you have another loader you can try on that as well, boot into Recovery Mode and try to format the SD Card for there. 4EXT formatted my SD Card even though it couldn't mount it. Then it worked just fine.
I recently switched to a sense rom from my usual cm7. Now, my sd card wont mount via usb, apps cant accesss sd data files, camera says no sd is present. Samba is the only way i can access sd content.
Is there a way i can attempt to repair this before im forced to reformat??
Thanks

Take out your sd card and place in a card reader via your PC. then browse and open up the sd card and copy all the folders to your hard drive. Afterwards right click on the sd card and click format. Do a full format not a quick one. Begin copying back over the folders from before. Done.
Thank you, that's what I ended up having to do

Hi,
Back up everything you need first.
It is probably better to format it on your PC if you can.
Make a select all/copy/paste to a folder on your PC.
That way you keep everything .
Format to FAT 32,and replace your important docs, pics, music, films, etc.
Put back in your phone, and android will replace all the files it needs.
Voila.
All I'm trying to do is clear a 2 Gig sd card that I only use to put roms on that I flash onto my phone.so basically I don't need to back up that stuff because I will never need it again correct?the roms, apps and kernels that I have backed up in in my 4 ext touch recovery will those be erased when U format my sd card?

Hi,
Yes,the nandroid backups you have done will get wiped if you format the card.
They are in a folder called "clockworkmod"
These will all get saved to your PC when you plug the card into the PC,press select all/copy/paste to a folder on your PC.
Can I save my back ups by using titanium back up?are only by the previously way that you just mentioned?so basically whatever sd card is in your phone at the moment that you are doing a back up the back ups are saved to that particular sd card only?Because I only backed up roms, kernels when I had my 8 Gig sd card in my phone.I didn't do any back ups when I had my 2 Gig sd card in so since I'm wanting to clear my 2 Gig sd card completely nothin needs to be backed up because I never backed up any roms, etc with that sd card in my phone.so I go to go then just hit format sd card sibce I never did any back ups on it?Is this all correct?

If you decide to wipe sd card make sure your not on an aosp rom or aokp there is a bug which makes your device bricked for good... And just to be on the safe side back it up on the pc first and go ahead

Hi, you can format the sd card without booting recovery at all. Just go to the settings, then storage, and then format the sd from there. No worries of formating the other partitions.
Also, if you use file managers to back up your stuff, make sure you get it on another sd card, or the phone itself. If not, you will just lose it when you format
Hope I've helped you

Hi,
I use ES File Explorer, available from the market.
When you open the app,it takes you straight to the root of your sd card.
Scroll down to the ROM/kernel that you want to delete.
Long press it,and then select "Delete".
If you're on your computer just turn onto disk drive / mass storage and delete. But if you're not just download file explorer app from play store.
I'm using Astro File Manager

Yes you can also delete using es file explorer. Simply long press on the item you want deleted through es, a menu will pop up, delete from there. I use es to delete my unwanted items of off my sd card often. It's quite convenient.

Hi,
Bare in mind that the sd card contains all your backups, and saves.
It is best to make a copy of your sd card onto your PC,then format it in the PC to FAT 32.
When you put your card back into your phone,Android will put back the files it needs.
