[App nfc]CryptoNFC - Android Apps and Games

Hi,
I'm getting some exceptions from my app last few days, and I'm trying to find where they are coming from.
So for people with a nfc phone and an NFC tag I would really like get feedback on the application.
Presentation of the application:
CryptoNFC, the idea is to store a key in a tag that allows you to encrypt and decrypt notes. This is somehow a way to deport a security in an external object.
For now I only supports notes, but the idea would be to encrypt documents, pictures, sms, ...
You can find it in google Play.
What I would like to know:
Can you write on the tag without troubles?
Can you save a note and then read it?
Bonus: do you find this project interesting or completely useless?

This is a very interesting idea. Is there a file size limit to the amount of data that can be stored in the NFC tags?

Thank you!
Yes there is a size limit, depending on the tag you are using. But it's not a problem here since I don't save data on the tag!
I saved cyphered data on the phone, and only the key that can decypher that content on the tag.

[Resolved] [Q] ebook manager, Solution found

Dear all,
I am trying to set up a TF101 tablet (with android ICS) to use as ebook reader for my mother and since she is computer illiterate I am trying to make it as simple as possible. Since we do not live in the same country I am trying to make it as simple as possible for her so I am trying to find a way to sync books from afar. So far so good, since there are many apps to do that but here starts my problem. Eventually I realized that I have a lot of books and eventually I will send her more so I need somehow to categorize them so she will access them easier than scrolling to a huge list of books. I found out that Mantano reader supports categories but as far as I can tell only manually. the same goes with most ebook readers that I know. I suppose a work around would be tagging but due to the different formats and many files I would prefer to avoid that (not to mention that tags usually do not show up nicely (like in shelves) on the ebook reader)
Is there a way, an app or something that will allow me to sync books directly to categories on the tablet? or create multiple shelves? For example to have a folder "cooking" and a folder "literature" on the tablet and on dropbox (for example) and sync to the tablet and show up immediately on their respective categories on the ebook reader? or any other application?
Thanks in advance for your help!
EDIT:
I found out that I can create different profiles for the same app with Titanium backup, which could be helpful in my case to use the same book reader and have in one instance some books and in another instance other books, I saw also that there is a widget to change from profile to profile but my question is, can I create a shortcut (not necessarily a widget) that by pressing it will change the profile A and start the app and another shortcut that will change the profile B and start the app? if yes how??
Thanks for all the help!
Since I edited I wanted to bring it to top so people will see it again... I hope someone has an answer... Thank you!
I think I understand what you want to do in general - set everything up on your end, then your mother simply opens the app and finds a neatly organized bookshelf arranged by catagory. And you want to be able to add books as you go.
To be honest, if your mother is really "computer iliterate" I don't think you can do this.
Look maybe at a way to remotley sync two tablets (I have no idea if this is possible). This way you globally manage the whole tablet and your mother does not need to worry about drop box or anything. All she needs to do is open the reader.
Also, on a side note, if you have not already purchased the tablet consider buying her a 7" tablet, I find them MUCH more comfortable for reading.
In fact now that I think about it, look into a Kindle. I've never used one, but I understand they are designed for simplicity of use and I understand that their ereader app is very good at syncing across devices (but maybe only for books purchased through Amazon)
Re: [Q] ebook manager and or Titanium backup
If she just wants it for reading, an e-ink reader is so much better. Battery will last much longer, much easier on the eyes, and you could still manage it on-line.
As it is, I would suggest using something like Google Drive or Drop Box or whatever - organise the books into folders. Easy to find and select to be opened by the reading app.

Thanks for your replies but you both are missing the point.
I know that you can create folders in the file system and go through it until you find what you want, but it has nothing to do with what I am trying to do...
I am trying to sync categories directly to the ebook reader. Kindle app has a very good sync option but does not support categories (as far as I know). And the tablet exists already.
As I asked in another thread, could I use tasker to create a shortcut to change titanium data profile and launch ebook reader at the same time? that way I could create 2 profiles for the same reader and have different books.
Thanks again.
You can create the categories by folder is what I'm suggesting - inside the cloud storage (which would sync, which is what you want to do, yes), and being that they would be stored in the cloud they would sync automatically - she would just need to open it on her end and select a book from the folder and open it - no need for different app profiles or anything. You could just have an account for the cloud storage separately called "books for mom" and put in whatever she wants and update whenever.
That's a simple solution that would do everything you want.
Thanks for your reply again. It will not do exactly what I need as it will require to go through the file manager, locate the folder, locate the book. Even if I set the file manager to start on the specific folder the look and feeling will not be of an ebook reader as the files will have a generic icon and not the book cover icon (if you know any file manager that can read book covers form pdf and epub, and mobi if possible, then I will try it immediately).
I am trying to make things as easy as possible as I am not going to be around to help and from the phone helping is a mess. a file manager will not index the books after that by author, title, recently open etc but if you know any that can handle book covers, I am willing to try.
Thanks
I found a solution, still not exactly what I had in mind but it will do. I had decided that the only way was to use tags in order to short the books the way I wanted but while I was playing with Mantano reader I found out that besides tags they also can show up the folders the books are in! So I can sync with dropbox and then set only these two folders in Mantano reader to import books from. and I say it is not exactly what I had in mind because it shows the full path and I cannot set it as the direct view when the reader starts... Still, it is good enough!

[APP][2.2+] Safe Camera v2.5.3

Please report any bugs to [email protected]
SafeCamera is a camera application that uses the military grade encryption (AES 256) to encrypt your photos on the fly to ensure they are secure, are safely stored and hidden against third party invaders, even if you lose your device and it gets in hands of professional hackers. Securely hide your photos, so that no one except you can access them. SafeCamera has it's own camera that ensures 100% secure storage of the photos.
Key features:
•Take photos that will be instantly on the fly encrypted and thus never be visible to any application or person until you open it with SafeCamera providing your master password.
•Gallery to browse your encrypted photos
•Camera with flash and timer for taking self shots
•Import existing photos/files to SafeCamera encrypting also filenames and delete original files
•Share encrypted photos ether encrypted with same password, other password or decrypted
•Import encrypted files from other SafeCamera instance
•Encryption with state of the art algorithms and implementation schemes that are proven to be 100% secure by governmental and military organizations.
•File/folder name encryption
We have thought of everything! Did you know that once any info is written into the memory and then deleted or even overwritten with another file, it is still possible to restore it? SafeCamera never writes your unencrypted photos into your phone’s SD card. The photo is encrypted on the fly right after it is taken and only then is written to your SD card.
Do you have files that you would like to keep safe? Just import them into Safe Camera’s domain and they will be safe. Although SafeCamera is mainly for handling photos, you can also import and keep safely any other file types.
Want to share an encrypted photo with someone? Send the photo(s) either encrypted with your current password or re-encrypted with a different password. Then just tell the encryption password to your friend and he/she will be able to import it into his/her copy of SafeCamera.
SafeCamera uses AES 256 bit encryption, which is approved by NSA for keeping top secret files. SafeCamera derives encryption/decryption key using PBKDF#2 algorithm using more than 2000 iterations.
See detailed technical specifications on official website http://www.safecamera.org/
Get it free from
Comming soon:
1. Desktop version of SafeCamera. Decrypt and view your photos on your PC.
2. Record and play videos with SafeCamera.
3. Securely share your file(s) without need to pass the password to the person you are sharing with.
Description of permissions:
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - For reading and writing encrypted and/or plain files from SD card
CAMERA - For taking photos
WAKE_LOCK - For keeping screen on while making long operations
What a genius! Thank you for this..hopefully the camera will get better and better! :good:
Does this work in addition to your normal camera or does it replace your existing camera? So for example can I still take non-encrypted photos with my normal camera and then use the application for more 'sensitive' photos?
Hello tony_76,
SafeCamera has it's own camera to ensure that nothing unencrypted ever getting written to disk. Of course you can use your ordinary camera to take photos and if you like you can import them later into SafeCamera and delete originals, but in this case you will leave trails of plain photos on the disk. If you want to take photos in a really secure fashion you need to use SafeCamera's built in camera.

[APP][4.0+]Auto Move Free - the app that knows where your files should be!

Hi,
I recently launched my new app at Google Play and know I want to present it here!
Auto Move is an app, which moves all the files you want to your desired location - and you don't have to do anything for it!
Example: You want every PDF file you are downloading to be moved to a certain destination. That's no problem for Auto Move!
In order to get the app working like this, you have to add a filter, which is filtering for "pdf" files - if you want it to filter for several filetypes at once, that's no problem - just seperate the filter tags by commas. Alternatively it's possible to filter for the filename (e.g. "wallpaper" or "university").
After defining source and target destination you can save the filter now (or add just more filters) and begin filtering!
There's an option in the settings, which let you define how the app should work in the backgroud:
Service: The app will register new files automatically and begin to move them.
Time Intervall: The app will scan the filesystem for new files in the defined intervall.
no automatic filtering: The app won't do anything accept to told him so manually.
All advantages of the app:
unlimited amout of filters
easy configuration because of several filterwords in one filter
filtering for file extension or file name is possible
moving or copying of the files is possible
automatic moving (with service) oder by time intervall is possible
loss of data isn't possible since backup and restore feature
great design
RESTRICTIONS OF THE FREE VERSION:
there is a maximum of one filter
you can't restore a database backup
I've attached some screenshots, that you can look at the app.
I hope you like my app! If don't please contact me!

@luhu
What a most smart app I've ever seen! Good work
Can you add the case about apk files which require root permissions or xposed framework or not?
@marbulas
Thank you very much!
Do you mean that it should possible to filter for apk files with these different properties?

I think many people will need this app being much smarter.
(the specified amount of size of files, resorting files in specified directory based in date
(for example, many people will need to sort with folders about their photos and videos : if I take pictures today, the app put them into the folder names 20140915 made by the app automatically),
specied something other people suggests...)
Useful app i'm gone use it from now on! Keep the improvements coming
Thank you very much guys!
I'm going to look how difficult it is to implement these features!

All around reading solution

I am looking for a good app that can handle all my reading/book needs. I want it to be able to load ebooks that I manually put on it, and integrate with Google Play Books/Kindle/Nook, and I want to be able to manually paste in text of short stories that I find online to create a mini ebook within the app itself. If there is a simple way to create a ebook file off of plain text, thats fine, if i can then load it into this app. The ability to load audiobooks(just large audio files, often mp3) would also be good, but I can also just do that through Google Music if necessary.
Does anyone know of any such app? Am I dreaming too big?
Dreaming way too big.. lol.
The only way to get access to the major services' books (Google/Kindle/Nook) is to use their official apps. I don't think there are any 3rd party apps than can access their servers. Google Play does allow you to upload .pdfs and .epubs to their servers, but i believe only through their website IIRC.
Moon Reader is a nice app you can use for files on your device.
I don't know of any apps that can create .epub. But google and you shall find.
yea thought so
your information is really helpful. i had no idea i could upload pdfs to play books, thats a huge helper thank you.
Calibre may be of some help to you. It is a computer application that can import ebooks from many sources (paid-DRM/free) and convert e-formats. You can access on your device from anywhere with Aldiko Reader--maybe others, too. Once I buy a book from Amazon or Nook or Kobo, I import it into Calibre. I can also import texts that I create through a word processor. The program does much more than I ever use or will use. You do have to have a computer.

interesting and will probably end up being very helpful! thanks!
+1 on Calibre! No matter where my ebooks come from I import them into Calibre, convert them and upload them to Play Books so that they sync across all my devices.

WhatsApp Orphan/Unreferenced Media Cleanup

Hello All,
Can anyone help me with one problem, please? This is regarding WhatsApp media history. It is growing too large and consuming space with unnecessary media files.
I did "Clear chat" activity for some threads I believed were obsolete. But surprisingly, although chats were cleared, media files themselves were left untouched in the file system!
As a result I now have lots of orphan media files, which are not referenced in any WhatsApp chat. I cannot simply delete WhatsApp Media folder from the file system, as I have useful media there.
So my question: is there any way to scan the WhatsApp Media folder and delete orphaned/unreferenced media files?
I'm using Galaxy S8.
Thank you!
I have exactly the same problem, also looking for a solution here.
If anyone have a clue on this, please share.
Thank you !
I'm on same page in 2019.
Whatsapp backup on android seems to do a differencial backup on all files of whatsapp folder and is always larger than whats being listed on Storage option.
My ratings are so bad: Storage says 17gb and backup says 60gb ;/
If I use file manager apps to delete dupes, some chats will not present the media.
It would be awesome to have an app to defrag whatsapp chats and media files.
Hi. I have this problem too! Storage says 19GB but actually its taking up 38GB!
Count me in as well. 2.6GB vs 3.16GB. It may not seem much but it's on a Note 5 with just 32GB of storage and I'm trying to squeeze every available byte.
Just leaving my ward.
I managed to solve this manually. Kinda. It was hell. Still a lot of orphan files.
Hope someone has an answer.

How did you manage to (partially) clean up manually?
Any update on this issue ? Its driving me nuts having close to 20 gigs of unreferenced media in my phone.....I'm pretty sure Whatsapp can easily introduce a "cleanup" feature based on the same algorithm that generates the "storage" figure.
Once its done cleaning the Drive backup is as easy as deleting the old backup and creating a new one.
Question is what's the best way to submit this "feature request" which is in fact more like a bug report?

I downloaded everything to my pc and looked for duplicates martching crc.
Then for like a week I went over pictures deleting the ones I was sure I didn't need, and also used the file name to divide them by year/month.
Not really the best option.
I'm in 2022 and with the same issue for years. Love to know who to code for Android/IOS and have Whatsapp integration options so I could search for each media file agains each group or direct channel to do :
- remove duplicated/triplicated media content by replace the file reference in groups/conversations ;
- than process all orphaned files that are not located in group/conversations discussion.
