I am trying to build a ROM, but when I'm trying to install, it gives me this error:
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img", "boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/coconut_signed_062112_120338.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
PS: My phone is a SE Live with Walkman (WT19i)
Duhh.. Its obvious, xperia phones cannot flash kernel via cwm because cwm itself is in the kernel. Delete those line in updater-script.
OMG, how I didn't notice that... My BIGGEST FAIL! xD

I'm on Brainmaster's MIUI. (1.12.9) and ICS for GSM nexus S is out but, when I want to apply the zip, the installation aborted :
"assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/ApplicationsProvider.apk"."46172b4637...."

Did something wrong ? (I've downloaded the zip in WiFi so it's not corrupted or else)

Status 7 usually means your ClockWork Recovery needs to be updated.
I had the same issue and I was able to solve it.
To fix Error Status 7 you have to modify the assert code and enter your phone model in it. It is bit complex. You can also delete the assert function that worked out for me.
Unzip ROM in some folder.
Goto Meta-INF folder and navigate to /com/google/android directory.
There you will find a file named as “updater-script”.
Open this file via Notepad++. (Use Notepad++ as it saves and resigns zip perfectly).
Find the line
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "grouper" ||
getprop("ro.build.product") == "grouper" ||;
And remove this line of code.
Rezip the ROM
Move it to your phone and flash.

Hello everyone, I have been going a little crazy the last 4 hours or so trying to get my phone back in action:
Verizon Galaxy Nexus - just rooted and unlocked
I am in the process of flashing to CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS v.10 HYBRID, and have gotten to the part where I need to select the .zip file from the SD card directory. I pushed the zip file from my PC to the phone via adb push successfully, but when I select the zip file I receive a

E:Error in //sdcard/cyberGR.zip
(Status 7) Installation aborted error message
Does anyone have any advice to either finish this installation or go back to stock?

I managed to get the GummyNex rom to install, and was able to execute Wug's restore to factory steps. Any suggestions? Maybe a bad zip file?

I am new to the forums and have a little issue: when I try to flash "Slim-2.6.0-I9000.zip" to my Galaxy S I9000 using CWM, I get the exact following error message:

I have done all the necessary stuff such as wiping data and formatting the system.

It could be a "bad zip" or you didn't use the appropriate script for your recovery.

same by me, on 5.7.2. which cwm you're running?
Mine works fine. On the latest TiBu, and I use twrp. Have you considered trying that? It's much better anyways.
Anybody used Mackay ROM v4 here I am facing 1 prob cant able to install Mackay ROM
m getting this Error again n again.....
