[Q] GT 2 Multimedia Dock? - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Simple question and I can't find an answer no matter where I look or who I call.
Can anyone verify if the multimedia Dock: Link that came out for the GT version 1 models is or isn't compatible with the GT2?
I'm wanting to install an in dash tablet in my car. These samsung models are about the only ones out there that have a small dock that can hide behind the dash, which have a power port and an RCA audio out port, allowing me to charge it constantly while I'm driving and send audio out to an amplifier pumping jams to my speakers.
Anyways, if anyone could answer this question it'd be a big help.

Does not work. Not for me at least, and it is designed forspecific tablet as well.

The keyboard dock works fine for me, so does the OTG cable and HDMI dock, dunno about what you have.

Did you buy this online? If so, where (url) and do you have a product number?
I bought an a/v cable which did not work. So, before I buy some new products I want to be sure that it will work.
Thank you in advance!

HDTV Adapter is EPL-3PHPBEGSTA. Works with P6200 and P5100. Official Samsung product, bought from a Samsung store. It's weird, though, the same adapter did not work on a friend's P3100 from a different country. It just brings up one of those 'open with' dialog boxes with unrelated apps on connecting. I think this is a software glitch, though, because mine is on the latest stock firmware, and it works perfectly. Tons of websites also list this as a compatible accessory for all Tab 1s and 2s.
USB host cable is just a cheapie cable costing a couple of bucks off ebay. Works on P6200, P7100, P7300, P3100, P5100. Tried and tested all.
Also all available Samsung keyboard docks work with all available tabs, there's only a removable plastic guide stand that's different. In my case, the same dock for the P6200 worked with the P5100 once I removed the plastic. In my case, I procured a keyboard dock for the P7500 and modified the plastic to fit my P5100. Works just fine after modding the stand.

Video-out cable, with box, or without box?

so there seems to be a few issues that can cause a video out cable to not work. the first is the pin assignment on some cables are different (eg, ipod)
that seems to be covered here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741542&highlight=RCA
but after ripping apart a cable and re-soldering it in every possible way it seems there is another issue. it seems some cables have some sort of box or something in the middle of them like this one.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000S0GXIA/
on the other hand some don't, like this.
http://www.amazon.com/6FT-Camcorder...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1283148966&sr=8-4
a common trend I'm noticing in the forum is that all the links to working ones seem to have this box, also in a search on ebay for galaxy s video cable almost all the results had a box.
so 2 questions!
1) if you had a cable that did or didn't work please post whether or not it had a box. and if it didn't or did work.
3) wtf does that box do?
unfortunately the 2 cables i have both don't have the box, but they both had the correct pin assignment. and id like to get the one i cut up to work. so plz helpppzzzzz!!!!!
Why on earth couldn't you just get the Nokia one in the first place?
i had 2 already sitting around my house, but i just ordered a nokia one....
i hope it works
sorry, which box are you referring to?
I just received a 3.5mm to RCA cable without a box and it doesn't work.

is there anything on the cable other than straight wire? like a hard plastic cylinder or something?

how to connect the GT 7 plus to TV?

I've made a small exercise to see if there an accessory to connect the GT 7 plus tab to TV
I found on Samsung official website at GT 7 plus section accessories a mixed accessories for GT 10.1 and 7 plus and there is a 30 pin to hdmi cable, which in description says its for the 10.1 !! here http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/EPL-3PHPBEGSTA
even it is pricy but it is a solution if works
there is a thread opened in amazon about that issue and no sharp answer for connecting to TV
some said the dock doesn't have hdmi some said there is a dock that has and some said there is micro hdmi port in the dock
so anyone did hook the tab to a tv? and what is the easiest way?
also I've ordered this cable http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005YWIRBS/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details

The samsung hdmi adapter works fine with the power adapter plugged into it (netflix looks fine, as do vids played through mVideoplayer). The composite adapter cable does not work with the p6210.

I have the hdmi adapter, and it works well enough. I have hooked it up to a hdmi monitor and a hdtv. I haven't tried it without it being powered by the adapter. One curious note though:
The P6210 turns itself off if plugged into the hdmi adapter with the screen off charging from the ac adapter. Not a SOD, just completely turned off. Not that big of a deal, although it takes a few minutes for the music player to reindex my mp3s. My solution as such is to not charge the tab on the adapter, just use it when I want to watch something (movie/game) on a larger screen).
I picked up an OEM version on amazon for $32.99 USD (http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HDMI-Adapter-Galaxy-10-1/dp/B0059UGT1K/ref=pd_2)
Hope that helps.
I found a multimedia dock for the original galaxy tab 7 for $15 and it works for HDMI out. The 7+ is slightly wider.
question
Hello, If I want to connect the tablet to see a film on TV and charge it at the same time, it is possible???, imagine I want to see 3 films .
Thanks.
best and cheapest
Like the other post here, the Original 7 tab hdmi dock is the cheapest and it work at Amazon for under $15, if you have the mini-HDMI cable already. Package didn't come with original packaging box, but it come new and have everything needed. Note you do need your own mini-HDMI cable ( I grab one that come with my PC video card) and a 30 pin charger cable that with the Tab 7 plus. With the Tab 7 plus, it is wider then the original 7 Tab for the removable place holder. I didn't use it with the Tab 7 plus, but another option you can use a dremel to cut the side out, either way it work. Do know you will get a little video overscan on TV and I don't see and setting to correct it. But all in all video and audio stereo pass to your TV or sound system. The stand is a glossy black finish and connection are mini-HDMI on right side, 3.5 jack and the charger pin on the back.

Is there a way to do it with the IR connection us tab 7 plus users are fortunate enough to have or ability to conncect wirelessly without tv compliant with bluetooth or wifi / ethernet. ? Maybe something i can plug in to make tv have bluetooth or something? Stream video music games wireless would be nice however 30 dollars for some little cable seems to me a crime because its only compatible with this device like how apple charges out the ass for their hdmi out adapters...

The only way to output to a TV is via HDMI via the cable pretty much
So I've decided to go with the galaxy tab 7 multimedia dock.... it was only 14 with shipping amazon I hope the output resolution is as maximum as the galaxy tab plus 7 ? I find it a joke to spend 30 to 40 on one single little cable no thanks!
Note: you say to dremel a a side? Can you post final picture of that modification at all?

anyupdate after getting the plus to work on the HDMI dock?
I believe it should not have issues.
On the otherhand, I want to get the RCA cables to work...but i am not sure how it can be done...
using OTG connection with female USB outlet & getting a USB to RCA for connection.I hope it is okay...Pls post out if anyone willing to try out!
thks!
I picked up 4 of the Galaxy Tab multimedia docks for $7 each. They work fine with the GT7+, the fit is a little tight but will work. I am getting 1080i to my TV. You do need the power cable connected for it to work, so I picked up a couple extra of those too, connected to any USB will work, but won't charge. It appears to switch the screen to landscape when connected to HDMI, and I didn't get it to switch to portrait, which is the orientation the tab is in while in the dock. I am thinking about fabricating a stand to go along with one of the docks I got so I can use it in a landscape orientation to match the TV output.
Does the hdmi adapter works with a 1amp charger? I'm hasitating between sgt7+ and the mediapad. It'd be good if don't have to buy an other charger.

Other OTG cables don't work?

Heya,
I have a tablet stand and the cable delivered in the box doesn't fit under the tablet when on the stand.
That's why I'm thinking about purchasing an angled USB OTG cable.
But here's the thing:
Other OTG cables doesn't seem to work? I already purchased a normal OTG cable (just like the one which was delivered in the box), but that one doesn't function.. Do I have a faulty one or will the out of the box OTG cable be the only one which works properly?
Hi
I bought a few cheap ones on ebay. Angled or straight and all work well on my A700 or Galaxy Note.
Just one decided to die after months in my pocket near knife and keys but that's my fault
I guess you got a faulty one.

Turn the tablet upside down, problem solved!!!!
@Itchiee, possbile, but ugly. Also, I don't think that works with every app out there. Was also curious if somebody else experienced this problem.
@laloutre, thank you for your reply. I think it is a faulty one then It didn't work either with my phone, but I guessed it didn't support OTG. Stupid online company. I also bought a usb hub there which also didn't work..
There are USB connectors/adapters out there that are not specified as OTG compliant; these won't work. I got my OTG cheapie from Amazon & it works perfectly:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B005FUNYSA/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new
Most of the dealers are Hong Kong but a few are in CA. Worth the $2.

[Q] RCA and HDMI cable question

I'm eyeballing either TV Video AV Cable for Samsung Galaxy Tab Note 10.1 or Samsung Galaxy TabTM HDTV Adapter for my Galaxy Note 10.1
My biggest concern is compatibility.
I checked on samsungs own site for the compatibility between the HDMI cable and the Note but it came up saying "NO" but I don't know if that's because they haven't tested it yet or it really is a NO. As for the RCA one, I'm aware I'll lose the awesome video output and will be watching it in SD, that's ok, the videos I have saved on it are from DVD so it won't get better than 720, what I'm more concerned about is "will it work"
anyone tested either of these and know the answer?
BTW: the Note is completely stock at this point

I bought the HDMI adapter, I believe it is the same one you linked to on amazon, official samsung adapter, but at frys electronics ( I had a $100 giftcard there from the sale hey had on the note 10.1). It has nice picture and audio as should be expected, and it is nice with apps like youtube with the user interface.
The only issue I found with it so far, and might be a deal breaker, is you need to have your charger plugged into the adapter at the same time for it to work. There is a slot to plug into right next to the input on the device. It seems like a nice feature at first so you can charge your device while watching netflix or whatever on your regular tv. BUT you NEED to have it plugged in in order for it to work, and I wanted to remove several cables and stuff. I got this adapter so I wouldn't have to worry about moving my laptop from my office to my living or bedroom to watch some tv, but it will be the same hassle it seems like with this.
I am considering returning it and going a different route that will better suite my needs of less wires.
Don't know about the RCA thing, but it seems like it might be a good route if it works.

iBOLT Dock'n Play Samsung cable now available as stand alone product

Hello all XDA friends! Finally, the 9ft microUSB-to-aux-out cable is available as a stand alone product. There has been tons of requests for this as many of you already have a phone holder in the car and you only need the cable so you can play music/gps sound (app sound) through the car-speakers. The microUSB end plugs into the phone phone and it will charge the battery when the standard USB end is plugged into a car-charger or into the vehicle's USB port (although some USB ports have slow charging rate!).
We've also seen a huge interest in using this cable together with a home stereo or with the "old boom box". Very cool application is to connect the Galaxy phone to a boom-box and put the handset into the beach bag (9ft is a loooong cable!).
When you inserted the cable the "DockMode" will start. Download an app like the iBOLT Dock'n Drive and mange your favorite apps this way. You can also set Slacker Radio, TuneIn or Ulysee Speedomter or CarHome Ultra as default "home screen". Note that you can also set WiFi and Bluetooth to go on or off automatically when handset is connected to the cable.
This new version of the "Dock'n Play" cable should be static free and will provide great sound quality. Feel free to use this thread to ask any questions about Samsung DockMode, aux-out etc. The developer for CarHome Ultra and Ulysee Speedomter can also chime in and answer questions if there's a need. Have fun!
The price is $19.95 and it's available for Amazon Prime for a few days (only a few hundred in stock).

Yes, if you buy the xProDock this cable comes with the Dock. However, if you buy the sPro or the ProDock it does not come with the holder. We have a lot of people wanting this as they either don't want to use a holder/dock in the car or they already have something else that works well.

Are you talking about original Sammy 2A charger or some ebay $4 charger that claims to be 2A while in reality current limited to under 1A (and thus due to losses and conversion efficiency down to 720 mA)?
I have a cheap charger for 5€ but with simple USB cable : 1.9amp.
With iBolt cable (for car mode and audio out) just 0.7amp
Tested with Galaxy charging current

Anyone know how to enable dock mode on the i9505G? I don't have an accessories menu so I'm thinking I'm screwed.
the dock isn't well made.. if you live anywhere that gets hot, the suction cup vibrates on bumps when hot.. its cheaply made for a 40$ product in my opinion..
I have no complaints with the quality of the dock. I live in south Florida where it's crazy hot now and my car stays all day long outside. I have no problems with the dock losing suction at all
